ALL RIGHT. GOOD EVENING. MR. LAMB, MADAM PRESIDENT, BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

I APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY THIS EVENING TO SPEAK FOR JUST A FEW MINUTES ABOUT OUR FINE ARTS PROGRAMS AND LITTLE ELM KIND OF TELL YOU WHERE WE ARE AT THIS POINT AND WHERE WE'VE COME FROM, WHERE WE'RE, WHERE WE'RE PLANNING TO GO.

AND I'M VERY EXCITED TO GET TO TALK ABOUT OUR GREAT TEACHERS, OUR GREAT FINE ARTS TEACHERS TONIGHT AND KIND OF TELL YOU SOME OF THE SUCCESSES THEY'VE HAD THIS PAST YEAR. AS YOU CAN EVEN SEE ON THE COVER SLIDE HERE, WE WERE RECOGNIZED RECENTLY FOR THE FIFTH YEAR IN A ROW BY THE NAM FOUNDATION AS ONE OF THE BEST COMMUNITIES FOR MUSIC EDUCATION. VERY PROUD OF THAT.

OUR ART TEACHERS, WE ARE WAITING TO HEAR BACK IN JULY TO FIND OUT IF IT'S GOING TO BE OUR FOURTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR OR NOT TO BE A TAEA DISTRICT OF DISTINCTION FOR ART AND SOMETHING NEW THAT WE'VE JUST REALLY BEEN KIND OF GETTING INTO THIS LAST YEAR TO TWO YEARS IS WE HAD STRIKE MIDDLE SCHOOL, WAS RECOGNIZED FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW AS AN EXEMPLARY CAMPUS FOR THEATER.

THE HIGH SCHOOL WAS RECOGNIZED LAST YEAR. OUR HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS ARE NOT IN TOWN RIGHT NOW, SO WE ARE NOT QUITE SURE IF THEY RECEIVED THAT SAME RECOGNITION FOR THE SECOND YEAR.

BUT I KNOW STRIKE HAS RECEIVED IT FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW.

TO KIND OF GIVE YOU A SCOPE IF WE CAN GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE HERE.

OF WHAT ARE WHAT COMPRISE WHAT OUR FINE ARTS PROGRAM LOOKS LIKE IS COMPRISED OF, WE STILL OFFER SEVEN DIFFERENT DISCIPLINES.

SINCE WE ADDED THE BALLET FOLKLORICO PROGRAM JUST A FEW YEARS AGO.

SO STUDENTS IN LITTLE ELM ISD CAN PARTICIPATE IN ANY OF THESE SEVEN DIFFERENT DISCIPLINES.

NOW, ELEMENTARY, OF COURSE, WE ONLY OFFER MUSIC AND ART, BUT WE ARE STARTING TO PUSH A LITTLE BIT OF THE BALLET FOLKLORICO TO THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL AS WELL. SO THAT'S PRETTY EXCITING. WE CAN'T OFFER IT AS A CLASS YET, BUT WE DO OFFER IT AS A CLUB AND SOMETHING EXTRACURRICULAR.

SO THAT'S WHAT OUR STUDENTS IN THE DISTRICT CAN PARTICIPATE IN.

TO KIND OF GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT THE ENROLLMENT LOOKED LIKE FOR THIS PAST YEAR, WE ACTUALLY WENT UP DISTRICT WIDE.

NOW ELEMENTARY. I'M EXTREMELY HAPPY, AND WE'RE VERY FORTUNATE IN LITTLE ELM ISD THAT WE REQUIRE ALL OF OUR ELEMENTARY ART AND MUSIC TEACHERS TO BE CERTIFIED TEACHERS. I DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL JUST A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO.

THERE ARE A LOT OF DISTRICTS THAT DO NOT DO THAT.

I DID NOT REALIZE THERE WERE A LOT OF DISTRICTS EVEN AROUND US, WHERE THE MUSIC AND ART TEACHERS ARE TAUGHT BY THE CLASSROOM TEACHER AND NOT CERTIFIED NECESSARILY IN THAT SUBJECT. SO HAVING ALL OF OUR ART AND ALL OF OUR MUSIC TEACHERS BE CERTIFIED TEACHERS IN THOSE AREAS IS ACTUALLY A WONDERFUL THING.

SO ALL OF OUR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS TAKE MUSIC AND TAKE ART.

MIDDLE SCHOOL THIS YEAR, WE HAD 89% OF OUR STUDENTS AT STRIKE AND WALKER PARTICIPATED IN AT LEAST ONE FINE ART.

THAT'S UP 5% FROM LAST YEAR. LAST YEAR WE WERE AT 84%.

WITH STRIKE AND WALKER, THE HIGH SCHOOL WENT UP 3%.

WE WERE AT 48% LAST YEAR. THIS YEAR, WE HAVE 51% OF OUR STUDENTS AT LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL TAKING AT LEAST ONE FINE ARTS COURSE AND DISTRICT WIDE.

THAT WOULD MEAN 80% OF ALL OF OUR STUDENTS IN THE DISTRICT PARTICIPATE IN FINE ARTS.

SO I'M VERY PROUD OF THAT. I THINK THE REASON FOR THE GROWTH WE'VE SEEN IS NOW THAT WE'VE KIND OF GOTTEN USED TO THE ACCELERATED BLOCK SCHEDULE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, NOW THAT WE'VE KIND OF GOTTEN USED TO THE SCHEDULES AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL, OUR TEACHERS HAVE ADAPTED AND HOW THEY DO THEIR RECRUITING, AND WE'VE SEEN MORE KIDS SIGN UP FOR THOSE COURSES.

SO WE'RE VERY PROUD OF THAT. KIND OF GIVE YOU A BREAKDOWN OF OUR STAFFING DISTRICT WIDE.

IT SAYS 24-25. THAT IS NOT RIGHT. THIS IS FOR 25-26.

WE HAVE 13 FINE ARTS TEACHERS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.

WE HAD, THAT'S DOWN TWO FROM LAST YEAR BUT THAT'S BECAUSE IN THE ART DEPARTMENT, WHEN WE WENT TO THE ACCELERATED BLOCK, WE ACTUALLY HAD SEVEN ART TEACHERS. BUT WE FOUND OUT THAT THE NEED FOR SEVEN WAS NOT REALLY THERE.

SO NOW WE ARE AT FIVE SOLID TEACHERS THAT HAVE FULL SCHEDULES.

SO WE HAVE 13 FULL TIME FINE ARTS TEACHERS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.

WE HAVE ONE PARAPROFESSIONAL THAT IS OUR COLOR GUARD DIRECTOR WITH THE BAND PROGRAM.

WE HAVE ONE SHARED TEACHER BETWEEN STRIKE AND WALKER MIDDLE SCHOOLS.

THAT'S OUR ASSISTANT CHOIR DIRECTOR. WE HAVE SEVEN FINE ARTS TEACHERS AT WALKER, SEVEN AT STRIKE, AND THEN OF COURSE, TWO AT EACH OF OUR SEVEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AS WELL.

NOW, TO KIND OF GO OVER THE GOALS WE HAD FOR OUR FINE ARTS PROGRAM THIS YEAR, A COUPLE OF THESE ARE GOING TO BE EVERY YEAR, BUT NUMBER ONE WAS WE WANTED TO RAISE THE LEVEL OF RIGOR FOR ALL OF OUR FINE ARTS PROGRAMS DISTRICT WIDE THROUGH OUR CURRICULUM AND IMPLEMENTATION, AS WELL AS INCREASED EXPECTATIONS FOR STUDENT SUCCESS.

AND I REALLY TRY TO CHALLENGE OUR TEACHERS EVERY YEAR, WHAT CAN WE DO THIS YEAR TO CREATE MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR FINE ARTS STUDENTS, AND HOW ARE OUR FINE ARTS STUDENTS GOING TO BE MORE SUCCESSFUL? WHAT CAN WE DO TO RAISE THE BAR IN ALL OF OUR DIFFERENT AREAS? THE SECOND THING WAS TO DEVELOP A STRATEGIC PLAN FOR IMPROVING ALL FINE ARTS THROUGH THE COURSES OFFERED THE PERSONNEL, THE FACILITIES, BUDGET, EQUIPMENT, LOOKING AT ALL OF THOSE THINGS, WHICH IS SOMETHING WE DO YEARLY TO FIND OUT WHERE WE ARE AND WHERE WE REALLY WANT TO BE.

THE NEXT THING WAS TO FOCUS ON CONTENT SPECIFIC PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR ALL OF OUR FINE ARTS TEACHERS.

SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT HAPPENING BEFORE, FIVE YEARS AGO, BEFORE I VERY I WILL JUST SAY, I'M VERY THANKFUL THAT YOU CREATED THE FINE ARTS DIRECTOR POSITION WAS THAT WE WERE NOT ABLE TO GIVE ALL OF OUR FINE ARTS TEACHERS FULL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN THEIR SPECIALTIES.

IT'S JUST VERY HARD TO DO FOR A PRINCIPAL ON A CAMPUS, BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO THINK ABOUT THE CAMPUS AS A WHOLE.

BUT NOW THAT WE BREAK DOWN OUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND I GET TO WORK WITH THOSE FINE ARTS TEACHERS, WE BRING IN SPECIALISTS IN CHOIR, SPECIALIST IN THEATER, SPECIALIST IN BAND, DOING, CONDUCTING THINGS, DOING MUSIC SELECTION THINGS, TEACHING ELEMENTARY MUSIC, AND HOW WE CAN BETTER TEACH THE ORFF INSTRUMENTS, THINGS LIKE THAT. SO WE'VE REALLY, THE LAST FIVE YEARS FOCUSED HEAVILY ON PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, SPECIFICALLY IN THE CONTENT AREAS OF FINE ARTS FOR THOSE TEACHERS AND TO DEVELOP A STRATEGIC PLAN FOR THE FINE ARTS FACILITY RENOVATION AT LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL.

I'M VERY GRATEFUL TO MICKEY AND THE, ALL OF THE PEOPLE INVOLVED WITH THE RENOVATION AND THE CONSTRUCTION AND LITTLE ELM BECAUSE THEY'VE VERY MUCH INCLUDED ALL OF US. AND WE WERE ABLE TO BRING A LOT OF TEACHERS IN AS WELL TO TALK ABOUT WHAT DO WE REALLY NEED AT LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL GOING FORWARD.

AND EVERYBODY'S BEEN VERY RECEPTIVE. SO WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THAT PLAN MOVING FORWARD AND WHAT THAT FINE ARTS FACILITY IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE JUST A FEW YEARS FROM NOW.

AND THEN FINALLY, TO ENCOURAGE ALL OF OUR FINE ARTS TEACHERS TO HAVE GREATER INVOLVEMENT WITH THEIR REGION AND NATIONAL FINE ARTS ORGANIZATIONS BEING INVOLVED IN TAEA, IF YOU'RE AN ART TEACHER TAKING STUDENTS TO TAEA EVENTS LIKE VASE, LIKE JUNIOR VASE, HAVING OUR THEATER TEACHERS INVOLVED IN TX ETA, WHICH IS TEXAS EDUCATOR OF THE THEATER EDUCATORS VERSION OF THAT WHERE THEY ARE NOW PARTICIPATING IN GOING TO DIFFERENT CONTESTS FOR THEATER THAT WE'VE NEVER DONE BEFORE. SO JUST GETTING PEOPLE MORE INVOLVED IN WHAT THEY DO.

NOW, AS FAR AS SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES, SOME OF THE THINGS WE'RE VERY PROUD OF THIS YEAR, LIKE I SAID, THIS WAS OUR FIFTH YEAR AS BEING RECOGNIZED AS THE BEST COMMUNITIES FOR MUSIC EDUCATION.

WE'LL FIND OUT NEXT MONTH IF IT WILL BE OUR FOURTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR FOR TAEA ART DISTRICT OF DISTINCTION.

STRIKE MIDDLE SCHOOL, AS I MENTIONED, WAS AWARDED THE TX ETA AWARD OF DISTINCTION FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR.

OUR WINTER GUARD, WHICH IS THE VERSION OF THE COLOR GUARD THAT PERFORMS BY THEMSELVES IN THE SPRING MADE IT TO THE WGI FINALS IN DAYTON, OHIO, ONE YEAR AFTER WINNING THE OPEN CLASS NATIONALLY.

SO THAT WAS A REALLY BIG DEAL TO HAVE THEM FINISH IN FINALS COMPETITION, THEIR FIRST YEAR IN WORLD CLASS.

NOW, TO GIVE YOU A BETTER IDEA, THERE'S ONLY 3 OR 4 GROUPS IN THE STATE OF TEXAS IN WORLD CLASS, WORLD CLASS. THAT'S OUT OF ALL THE HIGH SCHOOLS IN TEXAS, 3 OR 4 GROUPS.

AND EVERY TIME THAT WE COMPETED LOCALLY, WE COMPETED AGAINST FLOWER MOUND AND WE BEAT THEM EVERY SINGLE TIME.

SO THAT'S ALWAYS A GOOD THING, RIGHT? OUR PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE THIS YEAR, LAST YEAR THEY WERE A COMMENDED WINNER, WHICH MEANS THEY WERE IN THE SECOND GROUP OF FIVE AWARDED ON THE NATIONAL LEVEL IN THE MARK OF EXCELLENCE CONTEST, WHICH IS A NATIONAL CONTEST. THIS YEAR THEY WERE A NATIONAL WINNER.

THEY FINISHED IN THE TOP THREE IN THE COUNTRY THIS YEAR, AS WELL AS PERFORMED AT THE MIDWEST CLINIC THIS PAST DECEMBER IN CHICAGO.

AND WE JUST RECENTLY HAD OUR FOURTH ANNUAL FINE ARTS SIGNING DAY AT LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL, WHERE WE RECOGNIZED 19 FINE ARTS STUDENTS CONTINUING IN THE ARTS AFTER HIGH SCHOOL, WHICH I'M ALWAYS SUPER EXCITED TO SEE THAT.

NOW TO KIND OF BREAK DOWN VERY QUICKLY, AND I WILL TRY TO GO THROUGH THIS QUICKLY.

EACH OF THE DISCIPLINES, WE HAVE SOME SPECIAL THINGS NOW.

THESE ARE JUST HIGHLIGHTS BECAUSE THESE TEACHERS ARE YEAR ROUND PARTICIPATING IN DIFFERENT THINGS WITH THEIR STUDENTS.

IN ART, WE HAD 26 MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR ACHIEVEMENT AT THE JUNIOR VASE CONTEST THIS YEAR, SCORING THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE SCORE OF A FOUR ON 37 DIFFERENT PIECES OF ART.

OH DID I? IS IT NOT THERE? SEE HERE. I'M SORRY ABOUT THAT.

THERE WE GO. SEVEN OF THOSE STUDENTS WENT ON TO GET THE PLATINUM MEDAL, WHICH IS THE SINGLE HIGHEST HONOR YOU CAN GET FOR A MIDDLE SCHOOL, MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT IN ART. WE HAD EIGHT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, ALONG WITH NINE DIFFERENT WORKS.

WE HAD ONE STUDENT THAT HAD TWO PIECES OF ART THAT COMPETED AT THE STATE VASE CONTEST.

SEVEN OF THOSE EIGHT RECEIVED THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE SCORE OF A FOUR AS WELL.

WE ALSO THIS YEAR ENCOURAGED OUR ELEMENTARY TEACHERS TO THINK ABOUT DOING TEAM.

TEAM IS TEXAS ELEMENTARY ART MEET, WHICH IS THEIR VERSION OF VASE FOR THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL STUDENTS.

WE HAD SIX ELEMENTARY STUDENTS COMPETED THIS YEAR, AND FIVE OF THEM RECEIVED THE HIGHEST RATING OF A THREE AT THE ELEMENTARY VASE, IF YOU WILL. WE HAD ONE ELEMENTARY ART STUDENT THAT WAS CHOSEN AS A FINALIST FOR THE MUSIC K-8 MAGAZINE COVER CONTEST.

THAT STUDENT ALSO WON, I THINK, A $25 GIFT CERTIFICATE.

AND, AND WE BOUGHT THEM A CANES GIFT CARD AS WELL.

AND SO SHE WAS SUPER EXCITED BECAUSE SHE WAS GETTING FOOD.

BUT WHAT THAT, THAT'S COMPETING OUT OF HUNDREDS OF ENTRIES NATIONALLY, HUNDREDS OF ENTRIES.

AND SHE WAS IN THE TOP TEN. WE HAD A NATIONAL HONOR ART SOCIETY.

THE NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY HOSTED ITS SECOND ANNUAL ART SHOW AT LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL.

AND OF COURSE, WE HAD OUR AS USUAL DISTRICT ART SHOW HERE AT THE ADMINISTRATION BUILDING.

THAT ALWAYS IS SUCH A BIG HIT AND SUCH A BIG SUCCESS BECAUSE ALL THE PROGRAMS ARE INVOLVED.

BAND PROGRAM, NOW YOU'LL SEE A LITTLE BIT MORE LISTED UNDER BAND.

AND THAT'S JUST BECAUSE BAND IS PERFORMING. THEY'RE COMPETING YEAR ROUND, STARTING WITH MARCHING BAND, OF COURSE, AND THEN GOING INTO CONCERT SEASON WHERE SOME OF THE OTHER ACTIVITIES DON'T DO THAT MANY CONTESTS WITHIN THE YEAR.

THE MARCHING BAND, OF COURSE, MADE A SUPERIOR RATING AT THE UIL MARCHING CONTEST.

WE HAVE HOSTED THAT EVENT FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS NOW, AND I CAN TELL YOU, THIS IS MY 22ND YEAR IN LITTLE ELM, AND THIS WAS OUR 21ST YEAR OF SWEEPSTAKES AT UIL MARCHING CONTEST REGION, 21 YEARS THEY'VE BEEN DOING THAT NOW.

AND IT JUST IT KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER.

FOR EVERY SINGLE TIME THAT WE COULD HAVE PARTICIPATED AT THE UIL AREA LEVEL IN THE LAST 22 YEARS,

WE HAVE. AND SO ONCE AGAIN, THIS YEAR, THEY ADVANCED TO AREA LEVEL AND DID A GREAT JOB AT AREA.

BOTH ALL OF THE BANDS IN THE DISTRICT AS FAR AS MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL GOT SUPERIOR, PREDOMINANTLY SUPERIOR, SOME EXCELLENT RATINGS AT THE UIL CONCERT AND SIGHT READING ASSESSMENT.

WE HAD, WE HAD OTHER FESTIVALS THEY ATTENDED THAT YOU CAN SEE WHERE THEY HAD SUPERIOR RATINGS AS WELL FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL AND FOR STRIKE AND WALKER MIDDLE SCHOOLS.

WE HAD NUMEROUS KIDS MAKING THE ALL-REGION BAND THIS YEAR.

NOW I PUT IN PARENTHESES THERE. 23 STUDENTS AT LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL ALONE MADE THE ALL-REGION BAND.

WE'VE NEVER HAD THAT BEFORE. MY, MY, I THINK IT WAS FIVE YEARS AGO.

NO, I'M SORRY, SIX YEARS AGO. WE HAD 18 STUDENTS MAKE ALL-REGION AT THAT POINT.

THAT WAS THE MOST WE HAD EVER HAD. MAKE ALL-REGION.

SO TO HAVE 21 MAKE THE ALL-REGION BAND AND TWO ADDITIONAL MAKE THE ALL-REGION JAZZ BAND.

WE HAD 23 STUDENTS MAKING ALL-REGION GROUPS THIS YEAR FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL BAND ALONE, WHICH IS IS A RECORD FOR US.

WE HAD NUMEROUS KIDS MAKE SOLO AND ENSEMBLE SUPERIOR RATINGS, AND WE HAD AN ALL-STATE BAND STUDENT THIS YEAR, CHRIS SEYMOUR, WHO MADE THE ALL-STATE BAND AND GOT TO PLAY IN SAN ANTONIO WITH THE ALL-STATE PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE.

OUR WINTER GUARD PLACED FIRST, WON THE GOLD MEDAL.

AGAIN, THIS IS, I THINK THE EIGHTH TIME THEY HAVE WON THE GOLD MEDAL AT THE NTCA CONTEST EIGHTH TIME.

AND THEY WON THE GOLD MEDAL IN THE WORLD CLASS DIVISION.

LIKE I SAID, WE BEAT FLOWER MOUND EVERY TIME.

SO WE TOOK THAT GOLD MEDAL, EVEN IF THERE WERE ONLY 2 OR 3 GROUPS TO COMPETE AGAINST AT THAT LEVEL AND AT THE WGI CHAMPIONSHIPS, THEY FINISHED IN THE FINAL ROUND AS WELL. OUR CHOIR PROGRAMS DID EQUALLY AS WELL.

AND I'M GOING TO BRAG A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR.

HAILEY AND BRYCE TOOK THE THREE HIGH SCHOOL GROUPS TO UIL THIS YEAR, ALL THREE GROUPS GOT STRAIGHT ONES BY EVERY JUDGE.

IT WAS JUST A KILLER PERFORMANCE BY ALL THREE OF THOSE GROUPS.

THEY DID SUCH A GREAT JOB PREPARING THEIR STUDENTS, AND I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE PROUD OF THE WORK THEY DID.

AND THE MORE AND MORE PROUD OF THE WAY THOSE STUDENTS HANDLED THEMSELVES AND PERFORMED.

BUT ALL OF OUR CHOIRS DID WELL ACROSS THE DISTRICT, WITH ONE EXCEPTION.

AND WE WON'T TALK ABOUT THE ONE EXCEPTION, BUT WE WILL SAY THAT THE MAJORITY OF OUR CHOIRS DID A GREAT JOB THIS YEAR.

WE HAD LOTS OF STUDENTS MAKE THE ALL-REGION CHOIR, FOR EXAMPLE STRIKE SENT NINE STUDENTS TO THE ALL-REGION CHOIR.

THE HIGH SCHOOL SENT, I THINK, 14 STUDENTS TO THE ALL-REGION CHOIR.

SO WE HAVE LOTS OF KIDS PARTICIPATING AND GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND JUST WHAT THEY DO DAY TO DAY IN CLASS.

AND WE HAD THIS YEAR, WE WENT FROM THREE STUDENTS LAST YEAR THAT MADE THE ALL-STATE MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIR TO FIVE STUDENTS THIS YEAR, WHICH WILL BE, THEY'LL BE PERFORMING NEXT MONTH IN IN SAN ANTONIO AT THE TCDA, WHICH IS TEXAS CHORAL DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE IN SAN ANTONIO.

OUR DANCE PROGRAM. THIS IS OUR DRILL TEAM AND OUR BLUE, OUR BLUE ANGELS AND OUR DANCE PROGRAM.

THIS YEAR THEY MOVED UP TO THE LARGEST DIVISION BASED ON NUMBER OF STUDENTS IN THE PROGRAM, WHICH IS THE EXTRA LARGE TEAM DIVISION. AND SO AT CHAMPIONSHIPS, THEY DID NOT FINISH AS HIGH AS THEY THOUGHT THEY WOULD HAVE.

THEY WERE FOURTH RUNNER UP FOR TEAM AND FOURTH RUNNER UP FOR OFFICERS.

BUT IT WAS BY FAR THE HARDEST DIVISION WE'VE EVER COMPETED IN.

AND I'M VERY EXCITED TO SEE WHAT THEY'RE GOING TO DO AS WE GO INTO NEXT YEAR AND GET ANOTHER CHANCE AT THE EXTRA LARGE DIVISION.

THEY ALSO PARTICIPATED IN THE TDEA TEXAS DANCE EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION ASSESSMENT, WHICH IS THE EQUIVALENT OF OUR UIL REGION CONTEST.

AND THEY GOT STRAIGHT ONES AS A DANCE TEAM, BLUE ANGELS DANCE TEAM.

THEY ALSO PRESENTED A DANCE SHOWCASE FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR THAT INVOLVED THE BLUE ANGELS, THE GOLDEN STEPPERS, WHICH IS OUR STEP TEAM AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.

AND OUR FOLKLORICO TEAM DID ONE NIGHT TOGETHER.

AND THAT'S A FIRST FOR US DOING SOMETHING, COLLABORATING WITH THOSE THREE GROUPS AND AS WELL AS THEY DID THEIR ANNUAL SPRING SHOW.

OUR THEATER PROGRAM, I LISTED A LITTLE BIT MORE HERE FOR THEATER, BECAUSE THEATER WAS SOMETHING THAT WE WERE KIND OF REBUILDING A LITTLE BIT THIS YEAR, ESPECIALLY AT THE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL, AND SOMETHING THAT I CAN SAY I'M VERY PROUD OF, THAT THOSE TEACHERS HAVE DONE IS YOU SEE A LOT OF INDIVIDUAL STUDENT SUCCESS AT THE THEATER. YOU SEE A LOT OF KIDS GETTING EXCITED ABOUT BEING IN THEATER AGAIN.

AND SO THAT'S SOMETHING THAT I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT GOING FORWARD.

WE HAD A LOT OF STUDENTS. FOR EXAMPLE, LAST YEAR WE HAD FOUR STUDENTS THAT WERE NATIONAL QUALIFIERS.

THIS YEAR IN THEATER, WE HAD NINE STUDENTS. SO FIVE ADDITIONAL WE GREW TO NINE NATIONAL QUALIFIERS.

THOSE STUDENTS NEXT MONTH WILL BE GOING TO BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA TO, TO FOR THE NATIONAL CHOIR FESTIVAL TO BE INVOLVED WITH THAT.

WE HAD ONE UIL STATE QUALIFIER IN COSTUME DESIGN THIS YEAR AT THE UIL LEVEL.

WE'VE NEVER EVEN PARTICIPATED IN THAT. AND TO HAVE SOMEONE QUALIFY AT THE STATE LEVEL IN COSTUME DESIGN WAS A PRETTY BIG DEAL.

YOU CAN SEE SOME OF THE SHOWS THEY DID UP THERE.

THEY DID NOT ADVANCE IN ONE ACT, ONE ACT PLAY THIS YEAR WITH THEIR PLAY THE SPEED OF DARKNESS.

BUT THEY ALSO TOOK IT TO THE TEXAS THESPIAN SHORT PLAY FESTIVAL, WHERE THEY WENT, THEY GOT STRAIGHT SUPERIOR RATINGS, WON BEST OVERALL DIRECTION AND BEST IN ENSEMBLE.

AND YOU CAN SEE THAT THEY HAD SEVERAL MEMBERS, TWO ALL STAR CAST MEMBERS, TWO HONORABLE MENTION MEMBERS, AND ONE OUTSTANDING TECH AT UIL ONE ACT PLAY.

WE ALSO HAD A REALLY GREAT YEAR IN OUR THEATER PROGRAMS AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL.

STRIKE IS ON A ROLL RIGHT NOW. JOSH BYARD AND CASEY MAP AT STRIKE ARE KILLING IT.

AND THEY WENT TO UIL FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL UIL ONE ACT AND CAME IN THIRD PLACE AT THE REGION EVENT.

THERE IS ONLY REGION FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL, ONE ACT, AND THEY CAME IN THIRD PLACE.

THEY HAD SEVERAL MEMBERS WINNING INDIVIDUAL AWARDS.

AND THIS YEAR STRIKE DECIDED TO GET VERY INVOLVED IN THE UIL THEATRICAL DESIGN CONTEST.

AGAIN, THIS WAS A CHALLENGE FOR THEM BECAUSE WE'VE NEVER DONE ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE.

AND THESE THEY TOOK 15 STUDENTS COMPETING IN SET DESIGN, COSTUME DESIGN.

AND I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT THE THIRD ONE IS OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD, BUT THREE DIFFERENT CATEGORIES.

AND WE HAD THREE STUDENTS WHO RECEIVED THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE RATING OF EXEMPLARY IN SET DESIGN.

SO THAT WAS SOMETHING BRAND NEW FOR US AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL TO BE INVOLVED IN, AS WELL AS BOTH SCHOOLS HAD SEVERAL PRODUCTIONS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

FOLKLORICO, JUST TO TELL YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THEM, THIS WAS OUR THIRD YEAR OF HAVING A FOLKLORICO PROGRAM, AND I'M GOING TO GIVE A LOT OF CREDIT TO WATSON ROBINSON, COACH AT [INAUDIBLE] I KNOW HE'S AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.

WELL, ACTUALLY HE WAS, I THINK WALKER THIS PAST YEAR.

HE WAS VERY INSTRUMENTAL IN GETTING THIS STARTED FROM THE VERY BEGINNING.

I GUESS FOUR YEARS AGO, THEY ONLY HAD SIX STUDENTS THAT WANTED TO BE A PART OF THE FOLKLORICO PROGRAM.

AND SO HE PAID OUT OF HIS POCKET TO BUY DRESSES FOR THE STUDENTS THAT YEAR AND TO KIND OF GET IT STARTED.

HE WAS ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE THAT CAME TO ME AND SAID, HEY, WHAT CAN WE DO? WHAT CAN WE DO? WHAT CAN WE DO? AND I'M VERY GRATEFUL TO DOCTOR TRAMEL, TO JESSE, TO, TO EVERYONE THAT WAS INVOLVED EVANS AND MAKING SURE THAT WE COULD USE FUNDING THROUGH OUR FEDERAL FUNDS TO HAVE MONEY TO DO THIS AT A BIGGER LEVEL, WHICH STARTED OUR CURRENT FOLKLORICO PROGRAM.

THIS YEAR WE WERE THE BIGGEST WE'VE EVER BEEN. AT ONE POINT, WE HAD 28 STUDENTS.

I THINK WHEN THE YEAR ENDED, IT WAS MORE LIKE 24 BECAUSE OF DIFFERENT REASONS.

BUT THOSE STUDENTS COMPETED THIS YEAR FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE GETTING A RATING AT THE NORTH TEXAS FOLKLORICO CONTEST, WHERE THEY RECEIVED A, A DIVISION TWO RATING, WHICH WAS VERY, VERY GOOD CONSIDERING THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME WE'VE GONE FOR RATINGS.

AND TO DO THAT, WELL THEY DID A GREAT JOB. THEY'RE SUPER PROUD OF IT.

AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS, IF YOU LOOK UNDER FOLKLORICO, THEY HAD FIVE STUDENTS THIS YEAR RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIPS TO TWU FOR FOLKLORICO. NOW, THAT'S WHY WE START PROGRAMS. TO HAVE FIVE STUDENTS GET SCHOLARSHIPS TO GO TO COLLEGE BASED ON DANCE? THAT'S PRETTY SPECIAL. AND SO THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS WE'RE VERY PROUD OF WHAT OUR FOLKLORICO PROGRAM IS DOING.

AND I WILL THANK ALSO THE OAK POINT, OAK POINT ELEMENTARY.

I KNOW THAT WALKER ALSO HAS DONE A LOT AS FAR AS FOLKLORICO AND TRYING TO GET FOLKLORICO SPREAD DOWN TO THE ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL.

AND IT'S BEEN A BIG PART OF OUR HISPANIC HERITAGE NIGHTS EVERY YEAR FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS.

OUR ELEMENTARY MUSIC PROGRAMS, OUR ELEMENTARY ART TEACHERS.

I WANT TO TELL YOU, THOSE GUYS ARE KIND OF LIKE THE UNSUNG HEROES.

ELEMENTARY, WE, WE, WE OFTEN THINK, WELL, THEY'RE NOT COMPETING AT A STATE LEVEL OR A NATIONAL LEVEL.

THEY'RE NOT DOING THOSE KINDS OF THINGS. WELL, THAT'S NOT TRUE.

IF YOU REMEMBER, LAST YEAR WE TOOK AN ELEMENTARY ORFF ENSEMBLE TO THE STATE CONVENTION IN SAN ANTONIO.

WE'VE APPLIED FOR OUR HONOR CHOIR TO PERFORM AT THE STATE CONVENTION, AND WE'RE JUST WAITING TO HEAR BACK IN JULY WHETHER THEY'VE BEEN ACCEPTED OR NOT TO PERFORM. IT'S A PRETTY BIG COMPETITION. I'M NOT SURE IF WE'RE AT THAT LEVEL YET, BUT WE SUBMITTED A RECORDING JUST TO SEE HOW FAR WE COULD GET.

AND THOSE TEACHERS WORK A LOT OF EXTRA HOURS AFTER SCHOOL.

THEY SEE EVERY KID IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. AND SO I'M EXTREMELY PROUD OF OUR ELEMENTARY MUSIC AND ART TEACHERS.

YOU CAN SEE THAT THEY DID THEIR ELEMENTARY HONOR CHOIR AGAIN THIS YEAR.

WE HAD OUR VERTICAL CHOIR, WHICH IS WHERE WE COME TOGETHER, AND ALL THE ELEMENTARY CHOIRS, MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIRS AND HIGH SCHOOL CHOIRS PERFORM.

SO THEY SEE EACH OTHER AND THEY'RE INVOLVED WITH EACH OTHER.

WE HAD NUMEROUS PERFORMANCES IN IN SCHOOL AND OUT OF SCHOOL, AND AT THE END OF THE YEAR, ALL OF OUR PROGRAMS WENT TO THE PEAK MUSIC FESTIVAL AND RECEIVED SUPERIOR RATINGS THROUGH ALL OF OUR ELEMENTARIES.

THOSE TEACHERS REALLY DO A FANTASTIC JOB, AND THEY DON'T GET A LOT OF CREDIT BECAUSE THEY DON'T GET THE BIG TROPHIES AND ALL THE THE STATE LEVEL RECOGNITION, BUT THOSE TEACHERS ARE DOING GREAT. SUCH A GREAT JOB.

SO THE COMPENSATION PLAN HAS NOT BEEN CHANGED VERY MUCH.

THERE ARE VERY MINOR CHANGES FROM THE 25-26 TO WHAT WE'RE BRINGING TO YOU ALL FOR CONSIDERATION TODAY.

MINOR CHANGES SUCH AS TITLE CHANGES TO POSITIONS WHERE WE CHANGE THE TITLE OF IT.

THERE WERE SOME NEWLY APPROVED POSITIONS THAT YOU ALL APPROVED AND PREVIOUS MEETINGS SINCE OUR LAST COMPENSATION PLAN WAS BROUGHT TO YOU THAT NEEDED TO BE ADDED.

AND THERE WERE SOME POSITIONS THAT WERE DEACTIVATED THAT NEEDED TO BE REMOVED.

SO THOSE TYPES OF MINOR CHANGES. WE ALSO MADE THE TEXAS RECENT TEXAS LEGISLATION REQUIRED THAT WE ADD A, ON THE TEACHER STEP SCALE REQUIRED THAT WE ADD AN UNCERTIFIED ZERO YEAR TEACHER COMPENSATION RATE.

AND SO YOU'LL SEE THAT ON THE TEACHER STEP SCALE.

BUT OTHER THAN THAT, THERE'S NOT BEEN ANY CHANGES THERE. THE COMPENSATION PLAN IS A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT THAT WE WE, THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT DOES ALONGSIDE THE BUSINESS SERVICES DEPARTMENT.

IT'S KIND OF OUR WAY TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING'S REALLOCATED AND RESOURCES ARE COVERED. JUST TO KIND OF PUT A, PUT A FINISHING FINISHING TOUCH ON THE, ON THE SCHOOL YEAR.

YOU HAVE IT THERE UNDER SEPARATE COVER. THERE WAS AN INCREASE TO THE OVERALL BUDGET.

AGAIN, JUST TO REITERATE WHAT WE TALKED ABOUT IN THE, IN THE PREVIOUS MEETING, THERE IS A FINANCIAL TRANSACTION WHERE WE INCURRED A LONG TERM LIABILITY FOR SEVERAL YEARS, BUT DUE TO ACCOUNTING STANDARDS, WE DO HAVE TO RECOGNIZE THE FULL EXPENSE FOR THAT.

IN, IN THE FIRST YEAR OF THAT AGREEMENT THAT SO THE EXPENSES ARE INCREASED.

THAT'S WHY YOU SEE THE BUDGET THAT WENT FROM $100 MILLION TO $103 MILLION.

BUT WITH THAT, THERE'S ALSO AN INCREASE THAT THAT IS THE OFFSET OF THAT IN THE OTHER FINANCING SOURCES AT THE BOTTOM.

SO THE OVERALL BUDGET IS ROUGHLY THE SAME. IT'S WE HAD AN OFFSETTING TRANSACTION THAT WE HAD TO ACCOUNT FOR.

WE DO FORESEE BEING ABLE TO SAVE SOME OF THE TRANSITION FUND.

SO THERE'S ABOUT $2.6 MILLION FROM THAT FINANCIAL, OTHER FINANCIAL SOURCES FOR THE, THE LIABILITY WE INCURRED.

AND ALSO FROM THE LAND SALE, WE'RE FORECASTING ABOUT 164, 1.6 FOR THAT COMING IN AS OTHER OTHER FINANCING SOURCE, KIND OF A BELOW THE LINE TRANSACTION. AND THEN WE WILL BE USING THE REMAINDER OF THE DEFICIT FOR THE TRANSITION FUND TO WIPE OUT THE DEFICIT.

SO WE DO FORESEE HAVING A BALANCED BUDGET FOR THIS YEAR.

PHASE ONE CHANGE ORDER FOR THE FOR A DANCE STUDIO ADDITION.

THIS GIVES YOU A LITTLE BACKGROUND BECAUSE WE ARE ADDING WHENEVER YOU COME WITH A CHANGE ORDER, YOU'RE ADDING SCOPE TO THE EXISTING BUDGET THAT WE HAVE THE FIRST PHASE OF THE PROJECT, AS YOU REMEMBER THIS, THE TENNIS COURTS, CLASSROOMS, AND THE ARENA.

SO WE'RE GOING TO ADD THE DANCE STUDIO, WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN PHASE TWO.

SO THE REASON WHY WE'RE DOING THIS IS BECAUSE THERE'S A FIRE LANE ON THE BACK END OF THE NORTH.

THE NORTH END OF THE CAMPUS BETWEEN THE THE SOFTBALL FIELD AND THE ARENA.

WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO OPEN THAT FIRE LANE IN 2027.

THIS TIME NEXT YEAR, WE NEED TO OPEN THAT FIRE LANE.

SO THAT'LL OPEN EVERYTHING BACK UP WITH BUSSES AND FIRE DEPARTMENT TO BE ABLE TO MAKE A LOOP AROUND THE BUILDING.

SO WE DECIDED TO MOVE THAT PART OF PHASE TWO TO PHASE ONE.

SO THE COST OF THE PROJECT WILL BE $4,778,866.50. THIS WILL NOT CHANGE THE SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION DATE. IT STILL WILL BE FINISHED AT THE SAME TIME THE REST OF PHASE ONE WOULD.

SO WE'RE LOOKING AT ABOUT A 11 MONTH TIME DURATION FOR THE BUILDING, THE DANCE STUDIO.
