ALEJANDRO FLORES. [APPLAUSE].DO YOU WANT TO GIVE US SOME PARTING WORDS? YEAH, IF I MAY JUST READ MY STATEMENT VERSUS TRYING TO LOOK AT YOU ALL IN THE FACE AND KEEP IT TOGETHER. I HAVE A FEW THINGS TO SAY. WELL, FIRST THING I'D LIKE TO DO IS REALLY THANK MY FAMILY FOR THEIR SUPPORT OVER THE PAST 12 YEARS.
THEY ALWAYS WORRIED THAT I HAD TAKEN ON TOO MUCH WITH MANY LIFE'S DEMANDS.
AND THE WORKLOAD HAS INCREASED OVER THE LAST 12 YEARS.
12 YEARS IS A LONG TIME. IN FACT, IT'S EXACTLY HALF OF MY DAUGHTER'S LIFE.
SO I AM GRATEFUL TO BOTH MY CHILDREN FOR ALL THEY HAVE DONE TO SUPPORT ME.
AND DESPITE MY ABSENCE, THEY HAVE TURNED OUT TO BE REALLY GREAT ADULTS.
AND SHE KNOWS WE'VE BEEN BLESSED BECAUSE OF OUR SERVICE.
AS TRUSTEES, MANY OF US DON'T HAVE CHILDREN IN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM ANY LONGER.
AND WE'VE BEEN TOLD THAT WE HAVE NO BUSINESS SERVING IN THIS CAPACITY.
WE NOT ONLY CARE ABOUT THEM AND THEIR NEEDS, BUT EACH OF US ARE TAXPAYING RESIDENTS THAT HAVE A RIGHT TO SEEK OFFICE, TO BE PART OF THOSE DECISIONS THAT IMPACT US ALL, NOT JUST THOSE THAT HAVE CHILDREN IN THE DISTRICT.
IF YOU HAVE A WILLING HEART TO SERVE, THEN DO IT.
OUR COUNTRY IS ABOUT TO CELEBRATE ITS 250TH ANNIVERSARY IN EXISTENCE.
WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE PEOPLE FROM OFFICE THROUGH PEACEFUL ELECTION PROCESS, BECAUSE WE FEEL WE CAN DO BETTER OR KNOW A CANDIDATE FOR OUR DISTRICT, COUNTY, CITY, STATE AND COUNTRY THAT WE BELIEVE CAN IMPROVE THE CURRENT SITUATION.
TODAY YOU WILL SEE ERIC WILSON BE SWORN IN AS THE NEWEST TRUSTEE FOR LITTLE ELM ISD.
ALTHOUGH I DON'T KNOW MR. WILSON PERSONALLY, I WISH HIM THE BEST ALONG WITH THE REST OF MY TRUSTEES.
I HAD LITTLE CONFIDENCE. IT WAS A, IT WAS VERY EVIDENT, EVIDENT TO THOSE THAT KNEW ME AS A CHILD.
YOU COULD MAKE ME CRY WITH ANY SLIGHT TEASING OR SNIDE REMARK.
GOD, ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS ALONG MY PATH, HAVE HELPED ME SEE MY POTENTIAL TO BE ABLE TO DO HARD THINGS, TO BE ABLE TO STAND IN FRONT OF GROUPS, TO BE ABLE TO DISAGREE WITH FELLOW TRUSTEES WHEN I DON'T SEE EYE TO EYE WITH THEM, TO BE ABLE TO VOICE MY OPINIONS, REGARDLESS OF WHAT MANY OTHERS MAY THINK OF THEM.
IT'S HARD FOR ME TO EXPLAIN HOW THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME, BUT IT HAS.
TODAY, I AM A VERY DIFFERENT PERSON THAN I WAS JUST OVER 12 YEARS AGO.
TO MY FELLOW TRUSTEES, IT HAS BEEN AN EXTREME PLEASURE GETTING TO KNOW EACH OF YOU PERSONALLY.
WE ARE LIKE FAMILY. WE KNOW EACH OTHER'S SPOUSES WELL.
WE'VE GOTTEN TO SEE OUR CHILDREN GROW AND MOVE FORWARD INTO ADULTHOOD.

I HAVE BEEN ASKED TO RUN FOR OFFICE TWO TIMES PRIOR TO ME DOING SO.I NEVER SAW MYSELF AS A POLITICIAN, BUT I WAS INTRODUCED TO INDIVIDUALS LIKE MR. ENGLISH, MISS WATKINS, THE HARDINGS AND MANY MORE THAT HELPED ME CATCH THE VISION.
LET ME JUST SAY THAT OUR PARAPROFESSIONALS ARE THE HEARTBEAT OF THE DISTRICT.
TO OUR TEACHERS, I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THEM, BUT THE AMOUNT OF TIME THAT THEY PUT INTO THEIR JOBS IS UNNOTICED AND SOMETIMES UNAPPRECIATED. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I HATE MOST TO HEAR IS SOMEONE SAY THAT THEY HAVE A CUSHY JOB BECAUSE THEY ALL.
BECAUSE THEY GET THE TIME OFF DURING THE HOLIDAYS AND SUMMER.
THAT'S JUST PLAIN CRAZY. THE NUMBER OF HOURS AN EDUCATOR PUTS INTO THEIR DAY WHEN SCHOOL IS IN SESSION FAR EXCEEDS THE NUMBER OF HOURS THEY ACTUALLY TAKE OFF FOR THE SUMMER. I AM GRATEFUL FOR TEACHERS THAT ARE STILL IN THE INDUSTRY TRYING TO DO THE BEST THEY CAN, DESPITE TODAY'S CIRCUMSTANCES. THIS IS NOT A GOODBYE.
THIS IS A SEE YOU LATER. I HOPE THAT YOU WILL STAY IN TOUCH AND GET.
AND THAT I GET INVITED TO CELEBRATE CELEBRATIONS WITH YOU.

AND THIS GUY HAS HELPED FOSTER LITTLE ELM NOT JUST THE ISD, BUT THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY BECAUSE OF HIS MINDSET AND WHAT HE DOES AND THAT'S BEING A GOOD HUMAN BEING. SO I WANT TO GIVE YOU THIS AND THANK YOU SIR.
ONE LAST THING. A COUPLE OF MEETINGS AGO WE YOU KNOW, ALEX HAS BEEN READY TO GO FOR A WHILE AND MOSTLY BECAUSE HE'S VERY BUSY AT HIS CHURCH. AND SO THERE WAS A ME, HE'S LIKE, MAN, I GOTTA HAVE YOU HERE.

BEING A TEACHER REQUIRES PATIENCE. BEING A DYSLEXIA TEACHER TAKES PATIENCE TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL.
SHE HAS THE ART OF MOTIVATING HER STUDENTS, CHALLENGING THEM TO HIGHER LEVELS, CHEERING THEM ON AND SETTING GREAT TEACHER STUDENT BOUNDARIES, BUT ALSO BEING AN INCREDIBLE FRIEND. MY DAUGHTER CAN'T BEGIN TO EXPRESS HOW MUCH MRS. NICHOLSON HAS MADE A DIFFERENCE AND HOW MUCH SHE LOVES HER.
OUR HEARTS ARE FULL OF GRATITUDE AND APPRECIATION.

HER NAME WAS COACH ALLEN BACK THEN SHE HAD JUST GRADUATED AND MOST OF THE TEACHERS IN LITTLE ELM, THEY WERE ALL VERY, VERY YOUNG, SO IT WAS MORE LIKE FAMILY AND THE BIG SISTER KIND OF ROLE, EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS A COACH AND A MENTOR TO US.
I WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK TO A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE FROM ME AS A STUDENT FIRST.
I GREW UP IN A VERY POOR SIDE OF LITTLE ELM. I HAVE NINE SIBLINGS.
MY PARENTS COULD NEVER HAVE EVEN AFFORDED TO GET ME A YEARBOOK, LET ALONE A NEW DISTRICT WIDE UNIFORM, TO TRAVEL IN ON GAME DAYS. COACH ALLEN, WHO WE NOW KNOW TODAY IS MRS. THE AREAS ARE ARTS, AUDIO/VIDEO, TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATION, OUR BUSINESS MARKETING AND FINANCE AREA, ENGINEERING, HEALTH, SCIENCE, HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, LAW AND PUBLIC SERVICE,

AND THEN THIS YEAR WE ARE ADDING CAREER EXPLORATIONS II, SO KIDS WILL ACTUALLY HAVE A SECOND OPPORTUNITY TO FURTHER EXPLORE DIFFERENT CAREERS TO A GREATER DEPTH. AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE ROBOTICS CLUBS AT BOTH MIDDLE SCHOOLS.
AND THEY RECENTLY HAD A COMPETITION. SHOULD I SAY THIS? WALKER WON. BUT ANYWAY, IT'S A LOT OF FUN. NEXT YEAR THEY WANT TO EXPAND TO INCLUDE HIGH SCHOOL.
AND THEN AT OUR HIGH SCHOOL, WE HAD 1,970 KIDS PARTICIPATE IN CTE, WHICH IS 84% OF OUR STUDENT BODY. SO 84% OF OUR STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN CTE CLASSES AT THE HIGH SCHOOL. WHEN WE LOOK AT OUR BUDGET, WE DO GET FEDERAL FUNDS WE GET ABOUT, AROUND $71,225 THIS YEAR FROM OUR PERKINS ALLOTMENT.
AS WE LOOK AT STAFFING, WE HAVE 39 TOTAL STAFF MEMBERS IN CTE.
THAT INCLUDES TEACHERS AT OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND OUR HIGH SCHOOLS.

WHEN WE LOOK AT OUR IBCS AND THAT'S OUR INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATIONS, THESE ARE CERTIFICATIONS OUR STUDENTS CAN TAKE AND GO FORTH INTO, YOU KNOW, THE PRIVATE SECTOR AND HAVE A REAL JOB.
I INCLUDED THE 22-23 SCHOOL YEAR JUST SO YOU COULD SEE THE INCREASE OVER A THREE-YEAR SPAN.
WE HAD 376 IN THE 22-23 YEAR. WE HAD, IN THE YEAR THAT COUNTS TOWARD THIS YEAR'S ACCOUNTABILITY, WE HAD 629 IBCS AWARDED. AND THEN IN THE 24-25 SCHOOL YEAR, WE HAVE 930.

WE HAD ONE STUDENT WHO WON AT STATE AND ACTUALLY COMPETED IN THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION.
IT IS WORTH CELEBRATING THAT WE HAVE 31 STUDENTS IN OUR HEALTH SERVICES PROGRAM OF STUDY WHO BECAME CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANTS, SO THEY CAN GO OUT AND GET A JOB AS SOON AS THEY ARE READY AS A NURSING ASSISTANT.
WE ACHIEVED WITH HOSA, WHICH STANDS FOR FUTURE HEALTH OCCUPATIONS STUDENTS OF AMERICA.
WE HAD A BRONZE LEVEL RECOGNITION FOR OUR BLOOD DONATIONS.
SO THE KIDS WERE ABLE TO ACHIEVE A BRONZE LEVEL FOR THE AMOUNT OF DONATIONS THEY RECRUITED.
AND THEN THREE OF THE, THREE STUDENTS RECEIVED THE SILVER LEVEL AWARD.
SO THAT'S PRETTY AWESOME. WE DID HAVE $1,350 IN SCHOLARSHIPS IN OUR HEALTH SERVICES AREA.
AND THEN 12 STUDENTS MOVED TO STATE TO COMPETE IN TSA, WHICH STANDS FOR THE TEXAS TECHNOLOGY STUDENT ASSOCIATION AND FOUR OF THEM MADE IT INTO TEAMS NATIONAL, SO COMPETE AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL.
THEN 11 STUDENTS IN OUR TEXAS FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA COMPETED AT STATE AND THEN MADE IT TO STATE AND COMPETED. AND THEN FIVE STUDENTS COMPETED IN THE TEXAS ASSOCIATION FOR FUTURE EDUCATORS AT THE STATE LEVEL.
WHEN WE LOOK AT OUR PROGRAM AND THEN KIND OF WHAT'S NEXT, HOW CAN WE IMPROVE EXPERIENCES FOR KIDS? HOW CAN WE STRENGTHEN OUR PROGRAM? HOW CAN WE MAKE SURE OUR KIDS HAVE THE MOST COMPETITIVE EDGE AS THEY GO OUT INTO THE WORLD? WE ARE GOING TO WRITE, FINISH WRITING THE CURRICULUM TO SUPPORT THE TWO YEARS OF HIGH QUALITY CAREER EXPLORATIONS AT 6TH AND 7TH GRADE TO INCLUDE GUEST SPEAKERS. IT PROVIDES OVERSIGHT OF INDIVIDUALIZED TRANSPORTATION PLANS, SUPPORTS DRIVER AND MONITOR TRAINING FOR OUR SPECIAL NEEDS ROUTES AND ENSURES ADHERENCE TO STATE AND FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS. IT WILL BE A KEY POINT OF COORDINATION BETWEEN TRANSPORTATION, SPECIAL EDUCATION STAFF AND FAMILIES TO ADDRESS SPECIFIC STUDENT NEEDS.

IT'S ESSENTIAL TO SUPPORT THE GROWING OPERATIONAL AND FINANCIAL DEMANDS OF THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT.
IT ENSURES ACCURATE MANAGEMENT OF BUDGETS, PURCHASE ORDERS, VENDOR PAYMENTS AND INVENTORY WHILE MAINTAINING COMPLIANCE WITH DISTRICT AND UIL GUIDELINES. THIS POSITION WOULD HANDLE DAY TO DAY BUSINESS FUNCTIONS, ALLOWING COACHES AND ATHLETIC LEADERSHIP TO FOCUS ON STUDENT ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT, PROGRAM SUCCESS AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. AGAIN, THE SPECIFIC TITLE'S ATHLETIC BUSINESS ASSISTANT.
IT WOULD BE ON OUR CLERK PARAPROFESSIONAL PAY GRADE 4, AND IT WOULD BE A 203-DAY POSITION.
AS YOU KNOW, COACH YOUNG RETIRED, COACH HARBIN IS MOVING INTO THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR POSITION AND THE WE DO NOT HAVE ANY PLANS TO FILL THAT ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR POSITION. SO THE COST OF THIS POSITION WILL BE COVERED BY THE SAVINGS FROM THE ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR POSITION.
THE FINAL FTE REQUESTS THAT WE'RE ASKING IS FOR TWO PARAPROFESSIONAL POSITIONS FOR OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION RISE CLASSROOMS, SPECIFICALLY AT OAK POINT ELEMENTARY. AS MISS ROBERTS HAS DONE HER PROJECTIONS FOR NEXT YEAR, THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS PROJECTED TO NEED A RISE CLASSROOM IS ACROSS THE DISTRICT IS RISING FROM 56 TO 70.
SO WE NEED TO CREATE TWO ADDITIONAL RISE CLASSES IN THE DISTRICT.
AND TO DO THAT, WE WERE ABLE TO REALLOCATE AND FILL TWO TEACHING POSITIONS AND TWO OF THE PARAPROFESSIONAL POSITIONS, BUT WE WEREN'T ABLE TO SHIFT STAFF AROUND TO COVER THESE TWO ADDITIONAL PARAPROFESSIONAL POSITIONS THAT WE NEED.
SO WE'RE ASKING FOR TWO SPECIAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT RISE POSITIONS AT OAK POINT.
