[7. Superintendent Spotlight]
YOU ARE UP WITH OUR LEADERS OF THE PACK.>> THANK YOU, PRESIDENT WATKINS, BOARD OF TRUSTEES, SUPERINTENDENT LAMB.
WE ARE PLEASED AS PUNCH TO BRING YOU OUR LAST LEADERS OF THE PACK RECOGNITION FOR THE 2024, 2025 SCHOOL YEAR.
FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH OUR LEADERS OF THE PACK INITIATIVE, IT WAS LAUNCHED BY OUR HUMAN RESOURCE SERVICES DEPARTMENT WITH GREAT SUPPORT FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT AND OUR BOARD.
WE JUST WANTED TO DO A REALLY GREAT JOB OF RECOGNIZING ALL THE WONDERFULLY EXCELLENT PHENOMENAL STAFF WE HAVE IN THIS DISTRICT.
WE PUT OUT THE CALL TO OUR COMMUNITY, TO OUR PARENTS, TO OUR STUDENTS, TO OUR STAFF MEMBERS, AND ASKED, WHO'S GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND,
[00:05:01]
WHO'S DOING THE BEST OF THE BEST? WHAT STAFF MEMBERS ARE REALLY MAKING AN IMPACT IN THE LIVES OF OUR STUDENTS? WE GOT HUNDREDS OF NOMINATIONS FROM YOU ALL, AND WE THANK YOU FOR EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU THAT SUBMITTED A NOMINATION.THEN WE WERE TASKED, HUMAN RESOURCES, WITH A REALLY DIFFICULT JOB OF NARROWING IT DOWN.
WE RECOGNIZE EVERYONE, EVERYONE GETS A CERTIFICATE, BUT THEN WE ONLY ARE ABLE TO BRING TWO TO THE BOARD EACH MONTH.
IT'S REALLY TOUGH TO PICK, BUT THIS MONTH WE'RE SUPER EXCITED TO BE RECOGNIZING TWO OF OUR REALLY FANTASTIC LEADERS, BOTH OF WHOM SERVE OUR SECONDARY CAMPUSES.
I'LL ASK FOR YOU TO DIRECT YOUR ATTENTION TO THE SCREEN AS WE LEARN ABOUT COACH BISHOP.
I'M NOMINATING YOU FOR LEADER OF THE PACK AWARD.
PRETTY MUCH THE WAY YOU TEACH IT'S JUST NOT NORMAL.
YOU DON'T LECTURE PEOPLE, YOU JUST ENCOURAGE US TO CRITICALLY THINK AND OPEN OUR MINDS, THINK OUT THE BOX.
YOU HELP MOST OF US FIGURE OUT WHAT WE WANT TO DO IN LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL.
I'M PRETTY SURE A LOT OF PEOPLE IN OUR LAW CLASS, WE DIDN'T WANT TO BE IN LAW IN GENERAL.
WE THOUGHT THAT WAS COOL, BUT ALL OF US ARE NOW GOING INTO LAW BECAUSE OF YOUR CLASS AND I THINK THAT'S COOL.
I FEEL LIKE YOU ALSO HAVE TAUGHT US HOW TO JUST BE MORE EMPLOYABLE AND HOW TO GO OUT INTO THE REAL WORLD AS PEOPLE, LIKE YOU TAUGHT US, VOTING RIGHTS AND ALL THAT AND NOW I KNOW A LOT OF THAT STUFF.
I MIGHT NOT EVEN USE ALL OF IT, BUT I KNOW A LOT OF IT NOW. THANK YOU.
>> CONGRATULATIONS TO COACH BISHOP.
YOU HAVE MADE SUCH AN IMPACT ON OUR SCHOOL, AND I KNOW THAT IT'S NO COINCIDENCE.
YOU'VE BEEN SERVING PEOPLE, I THINK, YOUR WHOLE LIFE, FIRST IN THE MILITARY, AND THEN AS A VALUED MEMBER OF A POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND NOW YOU CHOOSE TO SERVE HERE.
THE WAY YOU INTERACT WITH STUDENTS AND THE WAY YOU MODEL INTEGRITY, AND CHARACTER, AND JUST DOING THE RIGHT THING, NO MATTER WHAT, IT'S INVALUABLE.
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING THAT YOU CONTRIBUTE TO OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY, AND CONGRATULATIONS FOR BEING RECOGNIZED AS A LEADER OF THE PACK.
>> YOU WILL JOIN ME IN A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR COACH FREDRICK BISHOP. IF YOU'LL COME DOWN, COACH.
I'D LIKE TO INVITE SUPERINTENDENT LAMB AND PRESIDENT WATKINS TO JOIN US IN THE FRONT FOR A PICTURE.
WE ARE SUPER THRILLED TO HAVE COACH BISHOP AS OUR FIRST LEADER OF THE PACK THIS EVENING.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT COACH BISHOP.
HE TEACHES 11TH AND 12TH GRADERS.
THIS IS HIS SECOND YEAR IN LITTLE ELM ISD. WE'RE GOING TO GET A PICTURE.
I'D ALSO LIKE TO ASK IF COACH BISHOP HAS ANY FAMILY, IF YOU'LL COME DOWN TO JOIN US AT THE FRONT FOR A PICTURE.
ALSO, OUR CORPORATE PARTNER, RBFCU.
HE HAS A GIFT FOR COACH BISHOP.
WE'RE SO APPRECIATIVE OF RBFCU AND ALL OF THEIR EFFORTS TO SUPPORT US. [APPLAUSE] ONE MORE PICTURE.
CONGRATULATIONS, COACH BISHOP.
THANK YOU FOR BEING A LEADER OF THE PACK.
OUR NEXT LEADER OF THE PACK AND OUR FINAL ONE FOR THIS EVENING, WE ARE THRILLED TO REALLY RECOGNIZE THE HARD WORK AND THE DEDICATION OF ONE OF OUR SOCIAL WORKERS, LINZY EVANS. IF YOU'LL WATCH THE SCREEN.
>> I NOMINATED MR. EVANS FOR LEADER OF THE PACK BECAUSE OF THE SUPPORT THAT HE SHOWS TO STUDENTS ACADEMICALLY AND PERSONALLY.
MR. EVANS CAME TO OUR HOUSE ONE DAY WHEN WE REALLY NEED SOME SUPPORT, AND HE TALKED TO OUR STUDENT.
WHEN MY STUDENT LEFT, I ASKED, "WHO WAS THAT?" AND HE SAID, "MR. EVANS." AND I WAS A LITTLE CONFUSED BECAUSE I WASN'T EXPECTING A TEACHER OR ANYONE FROM THE SCHOOL DISTRICT TO SHOW UP AT MY HOUSE AFTER SCHOOL.
I SAID, "MY BESTIE, MR. EVANS?" AND HE SAID, "MY BESTIE, MR. EVANS." IF YOU KNOW MR. EVANS, THEN YOU KNOW HE BUILDS VERY STRONG RELATIONSHIPS WITH STUDENTS, AND PROBABLY WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED THAT A STUDENT REFERRED TO HIM AS A BESTIE.
I AM SO THANKFUL THAT MR. EVANS CAME TO OUR HOUSE AND TALKED TO OUR STUDENT.
HE'S BACK ON TRACK, AND WE REALLY APPRECIATE HIM.
I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE IN THE DISTRICT THAT HE'S DONE SOMETHING LIKE THIS FOR.
THANK YOU SO MUCH, MR. EVANS. WE LOVE YOU.
>> MR. EVANS IS SO DESERVING OF THIS HONOR.
I FIRST MET HIM WHEN I WAS STILL A TEACHER AT
[00:10:01]
LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL AND HE WAS WORKING WITH A COMMUNITIES AND SCHOOLS PROGRAM, AND HE WOULD COME AND SUPPORT STUDENTS, NO MATTER WHAT THEY NEEDED.I KNEW AT THAT POINT THAT HE WAS A VERY SPECIAL SUPPORT FOR OUR STUDENTS.
WHEN WE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO BRING HIM BACK A FEW YEARS AGO, AND I SAW HIS NAME ON THE APPLICATION LIST, I KNEW WE NEEDED HIM BACK ON OUR CAMPUS.
MR. LINZY IS SUPER SUPPORTIVE, BUT HE ALSO TREATS ALL STAKEHOLDERS WITH DIGNITY.
HE LETS HIS INTEGRITY AND HIS CHARACTER SHINE THROUGH, AND I THINK THERE'S NOTHING THAT HE WOULDN'T DO IF SOMEBODY NEEDED IT ON OUR CAMPUS.
CONGRATULATIONS, MR. EVANS, I'M SO PROUD THAT YOU'RE BACK HERE AT LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL WHERE YOU BELONG.
>> ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR LINZY EVANS, OUR LEADER OF THE PACK.
SUPERINTENDENT LAMB AND PRESIDENT WATKINS, WILL PRESENT YOU WITH YOUR CERTIFICATE, MR. EVANS.
MR. EVANS HAS BEEN WITH LITTLE ELM ISD IN THIS CAPACITY FOR THREE YEARS.
HE IS ONE OF OUR SOCIAL WORKERS.
HIS HOBBIES WHEN HE'S NOT WORKING ARE PLAYING HIS GUITAR, RIDING MOTORCYCLES, AND SPENDING TIME WITH HIS FAMILY.
SPEAKING OF FAMILY, IF YOU GUYS WOULD COME ON DOWN, WE'D LOVE FOR YOU TO JOIN US FOR A PICTURE OF THE EVANS FAMILY AND OUR CORPORATE SPONSOR, RBFCU, IF YOU'LL COME DOWN AND JOIN US FOR A PICTURE AS WELL.
INTERESTING FACT ABOUT MR. EVANS, BEFORE SOCIAL WORK CHOSE HIM, HE GREW UP WANTING TO BE A PROFESSIONAL BULL RIDER.
INTERESTING. YES. CONGRATULATIONS, MR. EVANS.
THANK YOU FOR BEING A LEADER OF THE PACK.
[APPLAUSE] PRESIDENT WATKINS, THAT CONCLUDES THIS PORTION OF THE SUPERINTENDENT SPOTLIGHT.
OUR NEXT ITEM IN ORDER, MR. FRANK FELICE, WILL COME UP AND TALK TO OUR PEOPLE ABOUT VASE.
WE HAVE SOME AWARD RECIPIENTS FOR THAT.
>> GOOD EVENING. MR. LAMB, BOARD OF TRUSTEES.
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE NIGHTS OF THE YEAR BECAUSE WE GET TO RECOGNIZE SO MANY OF OUR STUDENTS AND THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS DURING THE YEAR.
WHAT WE'D LIKE TO START OFF WITH TONIGHT IS OUR STATE VASE STUDENTS.
THESE ARE THE STUDENTS THAT STARTED AT THE REGIONAL LEVEL FOR ART.
THEY WENT TO THE REGIONAL VASE COMPETITION.
IT STARTS WITH ABOUT 35,000 ENTRIES AT THE REGIONAL LEVEL, AND ABOUT 2,200 OF THOSE ENTRIES ACTUALLY MAKE IT TO THE STATE LEVEL.
WE HAD A TOTAL OF TEN STUDENTS WITH 11 WORKS OF ART THAT COMPETED AT THE STATE LEVEL.
THREE OF THOSE STUDENTS RECEIVED A RATING OF A THREE, WHICH IS THE EQUIVALENT OF A SUPERIOR RATING, AND WE HAD SEVEN STUDENTS WITH EIGHT WORKS OF ART THAT GOT A RATING OF A FOUR, WHICH IS EXEMPLARY.
WE'D LIKE TO RECOGNIZE THOSE STUDENTS THIS EVENING, AND I'M TELLING YOU WHEN YOU START WITH 33,000 OR 35,000 WORKS OF ART, AND YOU'RE DOWN TO THE FINAL 2,000, AND THEN OF THOSE, ONLY SOMETHING LIKE 1% IN THE STATE CAN GET AN EXEMPLARY RATING, IT'S PRETTY OUTSTANDING WHAT THESE STUDENTS AND WHAT THESE TEACHERS HAVE DONE.
I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY OF THESE STUDENTS ARE HERE THIS EVENING.
MS. SUTHERLAND, IF YOU WILL COME UP AND JOIN ME.
MS. SUTHERLAND, ONE OF OUR ART TEACHERS OF THE HIGH SCHOOL.
SHE'S ALSO THE SPONSOR FOR OUR NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY, SO WE'RE VERY THANKFUL TO HER FOR THAT.
THIS EVENING, DO WE HAVE DARREN BOYKIN? I'M GOING TO GIVE EACH OF THESE TO MS. SUTHERLAND TO PRESENT TO THOSE STUDENTS.
SEVERAL OF THESE ARE SENIORS WHO ARE NO LONGER ON OUR CAMPUS.
KALEB BARR. NO. THIS LAST STUDENT ALSO RECEIVED A RATING OF A THREE, A SUPERIOR RATING GILLIAN PITTS.
THE NEXT SEVEN STUDENTS, I'M GOING TO CALL OUT RECEIVED THE SCORE OF A FOUR, WHICH IS AN EXEMPLARY RATING.
THIS FIRST STUDENT ACTUALLY WITH TWO WORKS OF ART, AND SHE GOT A FOUR ON BOTH, AND THAT'S MS. CAITLIN. KATELYN OTT.
I'M SURPRISED SHE IS NOT HERE.
SHE IS EVERYWHERE WINNING COMPETITIONS ALL THE TIME.
THE NEXT STUDENT IS MEIDI LAI.
>> SHE'S ON A PLANE TO CHINA. SHE'S GOING WITH HER DAD.
>> REALLY? THE NEXT STUDENT IS ISABELLA LUCKETT.
I THINK WE'RE GOING TO GO 100% HERE TO MS. SUTHERLAND TONIGHT.
THE NEXT STUDENT IS JACKSON LAWSON.
[00:15:06]
CHANDRA ANKEM.THE LAST STUDENT IS ZARA WILKERSON.
>> YES. SHE WILL TAKE CARE OF THESE.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I APPRECIATE, MS. SUTHERLAND. [APPLAUSE]
>> YES, PLEASE STAY, BECAUSE YOU ARE UP NEXT FOR THE TCDA PRESENTATIONS.
>> YES. LET ME SEPARATE THOSE REAL QUICK.
THE NEXT GROUP OF STUDENTS, WE'D LIKE TO RECOGNIZE, AND I KNOW THREE OR FOUR OF THESE STUDENTS HAD SOCCER GAMES TONIGHT.
CASSIE CURRINGTON IN THE AUDIENCE? YES. MISS. CURRINGTON, IF YOU CAN COME FORWARD, PLEASE.
MISS CURRINGTON IS OUR CHOIR DIRECTOR AT STRIKE MIDDLE SCHOOL.
ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO, TCDA, WHICH IS THE TEXAS CORAL DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION, STARTED A MIDDLE ALL STATE CHOIR.
MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS REALLY, A MIDDLE ALL STATE CHOIR? WELL, LAST YEAR, MISS CURRINGTON SENT THREE STUDENTS TO THE ALL STATE CHOIR.
I HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF GOING TO THAT CONCERT AT THE TCDA CONVENTION IN SAN ANTONIO IN JULY, WENT TO THE CONCERT AND I WAS JUST IN AWE.
THIS YEAR, MISS CURRINGTON SENT FOUR STUDENTS THAT AUDITION AND BECAME MEMBERS OF THE MIDDLE ALL STATE CHOIR.
IF YOU'RE HERE TONIGHT, LET'S SEE DEVON BLANCO.
[APPLAUSE] IS IT OLODE? NEXT STUDENT, IS IF YOU'LL JUST STAY RIGHT HERE, TOO, PLEASE, IS WANG OLODE.
[APPLAUSE] NEXT IS NICHOLAS CORTINAZ.
[APPLAUSE] OUR LAST STUDENT, LET ME DOUBLE CHECK ON THIS IS A TWO YEAR ALL STATE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL.
IS THAT CORRECT? REGIONAL LAST YEAR, AND THEN ALL STATE THIS YEAR IS DANTE MITCHELL, DANTE.
[APPLAUSE] THAT'S RIGHT. WE CAN MAKE YOU GUYS SING TONIGHT.
NO. THESE GUYS ARE EXCEPTIONAL VOCALISTS, AND THEY WILL BE FEATURED IN A CONCERT IN SAN ANTONIO AT THE TCDA CONVENTION THIS COMING JULY.
WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT.
[APPLAUSE] THE NEXT GROUP OF STUDENTS WE'RE GOING TO RECOGNIZE ARE A VERY SPECIAL GROUP.
I'M JUST WONDERING, HOW MANY WINTER GUARD MEMBERS DO WE HAVE HERE? DO WE HAVE ANY WINTER GUARD? THEY'RE ALL RIGHT OVER THERE. IS MISS ZOTTI HERE THIS EVENING? COME ON UP, MISS ZOTTI.
[APPLAUSE] I'M GOING TO BRAG A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MISS ZOTTI.
THIS IS WHAT? TEN YEARS? MISS ZOTTI IS THE LONGEST STANDING COLOR GUARD DIRECTOR IN LITTLE ELM HISTORY.
I HAD THE GOOD FORTUNE TO BE ONE OF THE PEOPLE TO HIRE HER 10 YEARS AGO, AND SHE'S BEEN AT LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL 10 YEARS, WON NUMEROUS CONTEST WITH THE WINTER GUARD, WHICH IS BASICALLY OUR SPRING INDOOR COMPETITION COLOR GUARD.
IF YOU'VE NEVER BEEN TO SEE THESE INDIVIDUALS PERFORM, YOU'RE MISSING OUT.
I'M TELLING YOU THEY ARE SOME OF THE HARDEST WORKING ATHLETES IN OUR DISTRICT. THEY REALLY ARE.
IF YOU'VE NEVER SEEN THEM IN REHEARSAL, YOU'VE GOT TO GO CHECK THIS OUT.
THE LEVEL THAT THEY REHEARSE AT, THE LEVEL OF JUST EFFICIENCY AND THE STRUCTURE AND HOW HARD THEY WORK IS ALL BECAUSE OF HER.
WE HAVE ONE OF THE VERY BEST, AND I'M SO PROUD OF MISS ZOTTI, SO PROUD OF THE GUARD.
IN 2010, OUR COLOR GUARD WON THE SCHOLASTIC A WGI CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2010.
AT THAT TIME, MR. SOLASINO SOSA WAS OUR COLOR GUARD DIRECTOR.
WHEN HE WAS LEAVING, HE HELPED RECRUIT MISS ZOTTI FROM OUT OF STATE TO COME TO LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL AND TAKE OVER THE COLOR GUARD PROGRAM.
SHE HAS DONE AN UNBELIEVABLE JOB.
AFTER WINNING SCHOLASTIC A, IT WAS CALLED AT THAT TIME, WE GOT PROMOTED TO WHAT'S CALLED OPEN CLASS.
[00:20:03]
THIS YEAR, OUR WINTER GUARD ARE THE WGI WORLD SCHOLASTIC OPEN CHAMPIONS.[APPLAUSE] WE ARE VERY PROUD OF THEM.
JUST TO LET YOU KNOW, NEXT YEAR, WE WILL BE COMPETING IN A DIVISION CALLED SCHOLASTIC WORLD.
HOLD ON, BECAUSE IT'S ABOUT TO GET PRETTY INTERESTING AROUND HERE.
I'M GOING TO HAVE THESE STUDENTS COME UP, AND WE'RE GOING TO COME TO CALL YOU PRETTY QUICKLY.
MISS ZOTTI WILL HAND YOU YOUR CERTIFICATE, AND THEN WE WILL RECOGNIZE YOU WHEN YOU'RE ALL UP HERE TOGETHER. MIKAELA TARVER. [APPLAUSE] FINE.
[APPLAUSE] I'LL HOLD ON TO THAT ONE FOR A MINUTE.
[APPLAUSE] AVA LAURA [APPLAUSE] WHO IS NOT HERE TONIGHT.
[APPLAUSE] YOU'LL NOTICE, BY THE WAY, THEY'RE WEARING THEIR WGI GOLD MEDALS.
THAT'S PRETTY NICE. BRIANNA DONTE.
[APPLAUSE] NOT HERE? BROOK MCCULLEY. [APPLAUSE] NOT HERE? CAROLINE ALLEN.
[APPLAUSE] NATALIE BERKLEY. [APPLAUSE]
>> IT'S YOUR LAST ONE? I'LL JUST MENTION THESE NAMES IN PASSING BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT HERE THIS EVENING, BUT WE ALSO HAD EMILY NICHOLS, ANA SHEPHERD, AND SAY IT, BRILEY KANE.
>> MR. FELICE. AM I ALSO CORRECT, NOT ONLY DID THEY WIN, BUT THEY SET A NEW WORLD RECORD?
>> THE SCORE THAT THEY RECEIVED IN THE FINALS COMPETITION, IT WAS A NEW WORLD RECORD FOR SCORES AT THAT LEVEL.
[APPLAUSE] CONGRATULATION, GUARD, AND CONGRATULATIONS, MISS ZOTTI ON YOUR GREAT LEADERSHIP.
I BELIEVE OUR SUPERINTENDENT HAS SOMETHING.
>> WE HAVE ONE FOR A DAY AND SO YOU'VE GOT YOUR FULL STAFF?
>> THERE'S SO MANY. I HAD TO BRING A BOX. THEY'RE SO MANY.
MR. LAMB BOARD OF TRUSTEES, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALLOWING TO PRESENT
[00:25:01]
THESE CERTIFICATES TO SOME AMAZING STUDENTS AND THEIR SPONSORS.YOU MIGHT BE ASKING YOURSELF INITIALLY, WHY SO MANY ALL AT ONE TIME.
UNFORTUNATELY, THIS IS THE TIME OF THE YEAR WHICH IS RATHER RIFE WITH COMPETITIONS.
WHEN YOU'RE WINNING COMPETITIONS OR ADVANCING IN COMPETITIONS, WE'RE GOING TO WIND UP GETTING A LOT OF STUDENTS ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
THE FIRST CTE STUDENT ORGANIZATION, I'M GOING TO CALL TO THE FRONT, I'M GOING TO CALL THE SPONSOR, MISS RONNIE HARDEN.
THIS IS TAFE, WHICH IS OUR TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF FUTURE EDUCATORS.
THESE STUDENTS ADVANCE TO STATE.
THESE ARE IN ORDER. IS ISABELLA LUCKETT IN THE HOUSE?
>> SHE'S WORKING. HOW ABOUT LANE ROMAN?
>> THEY SHOWED UP WHEN IT MATTERED.
>> THANK YOU SO MUCH. YOU'RE GOING TO HANG ON TO IT? THANK YOU.
NEXT UP, WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT HOSA, WHICH IS THE FUTURE HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE HEALTH OCCUPATION STUDENTS OF AMERICA.
WE'RE GOING TO BE BRINGING UP ONE OF OUR SPONSORS, JENNIFER LEWIS ON THE BEHALF OF THE LEAD SPONSOR, MISS CHELSEA NICKEL.
YOU WANT TO READ THEM? YOU'RE GOING TO HAND THEM OUT?
>> THESE ARE IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER, BUT THEY ARE IN ORDER OF THE TOP DOWN.
[APPLAUSE] DINO ARELLANO ARIANA.
[APPLAUSE] I HAVE A FEELING THAT THE MAJORITY OF THESE STUDENTS ARE SENIORS WHICH TENDS TO HAPPEN WITH CTSOS AS THEY BECOME SENIORS AND START COMPETING.
>> [LAUGHTER] DEFINITELY. YOU'LL GIVE THEM.
MISS LEWIS WILL GET THEM TO THOSE STUDENTS. THANK YOU, MISS LEWIS.
[APPLAUSE] NEXT UP, WE'RE GOING TO BRING TSA, TECHNOLOGY STUDENT ASSOCIATION WITH MISS MEGHAN MORROW AND MR. JEFFREY ST. JOHN.
THESE STUDENTS, THEY'RE MIXED TOGETHER, BUT ALL OF THEM ADVANCED TO STATE, AND A FEW OF THEM HAVE ADVANCED TO NATIONALS.
I KNOW WE'VE GOT AT LEAST ONE BECAUSE JAMES IS [INAUDIBLE] I APOLOGIZE AHEAD OF TIME, SOME OF THESE NAMES. AYANA IS NOT HERE? WE CAN SKIP AYANA ADONRY.
ESRIEL GARCIA, WHO BY THE WAY, PLACED THIRD OVERALL IN STATE.
AGAIN, PLACED THIRD OVERALL IN STATE.
[00:30:01]
JAMES HOFFMAN.>> AMIR MALEK [APPLAUSE]. [INAUDIBLE] [APPLAUSE]. THANK YOU.
JASMINE [INAUDIBLE] [APPLAUSE]. JASMINE'S NOT HERE.
THIS IS OUR TECHNOLOGY STUDENT ASSOCIATION, FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE ROBOTICS CLUB OR THE ENGINEERING CLUB.
YOU GUYS WANT TO COME UP HERE, TAKE A PICTURE? ABSOLUTELY. I WOULD, EXCEPT FOR THEY'RE ALL ON THE CERTIFICATES.
>> THANK YOU, GUYS [APPLAUSE].
THE TECHNOLOGY STUDENT ASSOCIATION DOES A WIDE RANGE FROM ENGINEERING, DIFFERENT TYPES OF PROBLEM SOLVING.
THINK OF IT LIKE THE APOLLO 13, WHERE THEY HAD TO FIT THE ROUND PEG INTO THE SQUARE HOLE THING OR THE OTHER WAY AROUND.
SITUATIONS LIKE THAT. IN SOME CASES, IT'S ALSO WEB DESIGN BASED ON HOW THEY'RE DOING THIS.
THE TECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATION OVERALL, AND THIS IS WHY I SAID IT WAS FORMERLY ENGINEERING OR ROBOTICS, IS BECAUSE IT ALSO INCLUDES A WIDE RANGE OF PROGRAMMING AND CYBERSECURITY AS WELL AS AUDIO VIDEO.
THIS IS THE LARGEST ONE. THIS IS DECA.
IF YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF DECA, DECA IS THE DISTRIBUTIVE EDUCATION CLUBS OF AMERICA.
MS. HOLLIE HENRY, MS. EBONI HAMMOND, AND I BELIEVE I SAW LASHANDA LEFLORE, IF YOU GUYS WOULD LIKE TO COME UP.
DECA, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THIS IS YEAR 54 OF THIS CHAPTER'S EXISTENCE IN LITTLE ELM, AND THEY DO EVERYTHING WHEN IT COMES TO BUSINESS, MARKETING, FINANCE, YOU NAME IT.
THESE STUDENTS ADVANCED NOT ONLY TO STATE, BUT IN SOME CASES TO NATIONALS AS WELL.
NATIONALS TOOK PLACE IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA THIS YEAR.
YOU SAID YOU WANT TO READ OR DO YOU WANT TO HAND OUT?
I'M PROUD TO CALL IANOAN ADONARY, [APPLAUSE] [INAUDIBLE] AHMED, MIRA AMIM, SRISHMA ONKAN, [APPLAUSE] DINO ARELLANO.
>> I HAVE SO MANY I WASN'T SURE OF.
SYDNEY BOWEN, ISABELLA BRILEY, [APPLAUSE] NIKI COLLARD, JADEN CRANDAL, ADELENE DREYER, ELIANNA FLORES, TAYLOR HO, UMAR JAMALI, SEBASTIAN LAURA.
[APPLAUSE] SAMRIDI MAJUMDAR, KENNEDY P. V MARTIN, [APPLAUSE] ABBY RODRIGUEZ GARCIA, ZELINA SALA, CAVIN SHARMA, CAMERON SERES IS HERE.
[APPLAUSE] HAILEE TORRES, SAE DEMULAH IS HERE.
[00:35:24]
[BACKGROUND] JADE WILSON, KAYLA GARCIA [APPLAUSE] OUR PRESIDENT.I DON'T THINK LYDIA VAS GONZALES IS HERE.
HISIS BARBOSA, MAXWELL EVANS. 3,2,1.
CONGRATULATIONS [APPLAUSE]. [LAUGHTER]
>> BEFORE MS. HENRY RUNS OFF, I AM GOING TO SAY SOMETHING A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT DECA IN GENERAL.
FOR THE FIRST TIME, OUR DECA CHAPTER WAS RECOGNIZED AS THE DECA CHAPTER OF THE STATE OF TEXAS.
WHILE THEY DON'T REALLY DO THIS AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL, FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE FIVE YEARS THAT I'VE BEEN HERE IN LITTLE ELM, I ACTUALLY RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF DECA.
EXPLAINING TO ME THAT OUR DECA CHAPTER IS TO BE COMMENDED FOR ITS EFFORTS TO SHOWCASE THE IMPACT THAT DECA HAS IN PREPARING THE SCHOOLS EMERGING LEADERS AND ENTREPRENEURS FOR COLLEGE AND CAREER SUCCESS THROUGH THE CTE MOTH.
AS A CTE SO, DECA HAS HAD A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS OF OUR YOUTH FOR OVER 75 YEARS, PROVIDING MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS AMONGST THE SCHOOL, COMMUNITY, AND BUSINESS PARTNERS.
THROUGH DECA'S COMPREHENSIVE LEARNING PROGRAMS, STUDENTS ARE ENGAGED IN EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING METHODS AND AUTHENTIC ACTIVITIES RELATED TO CAREERS IN MARKETING, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, FINANCE, HOSPITALITY AND MANAGEMENT.
DECA'S PROGRAMS ARE ALIGNED WITH THE NATIONAL CURRICULUM STANDARDS AND SUPPORT 21ST CENTURY SKILLS.
AT THIS TIME, 98% OF THE DECA MEMBERS, STUDENTS REPORTED THEY HAVE GAINED SKILLS IN PROBLEM SOLVING.
NINETY SEVEN PERCENT HAVE REPORTED HOW THEY HAVE LEARNED HOW TO COMMUNICATE THROUGH THOUGHTS AND IDEAS.
EIGHTY SEVEN PERCENT OF THE DECA MEMBERS REPORTED THEY HAVE LEARNED HOW TO WORK AS PART OF A TEAM, AND 98% OF THE DECA MEMBERS REPORTED THEY HAVE GAINED SKILLS TO IMPROVE PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR.
I JUST WANTED TO TAKE THIS MOMENT TO TRULY THANK MS. HENRY FOR STEPPING UP ABOVE AND BEYOND WITH HER GROUP, AND I MEMORIALIZED THE LETTER ITSELF TO GIVE TO YOU.
>> APPRECIATE THAT. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
>> THANK YOU SO MUCH [APPLAUSE].
>> ABSOLUTELY. THAT'S IT FOR CTE FOR NOW. THANK YOU.
MS. ROBERTS, YOU ARE NEXT WITH OUR SPECIAL OLYMPICS PRESENTATIONS.
>> THANK YOU, MR. LAMB AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES.
I WANTED TO TAKE JUST A MINUTE.
WE HAD OUR SPECIAL OLYMPICS TRACK MEET IN APRIL AT THE END OF THE MONTH.
THAT IS SUCH A FANTASTIC EVENT AND SUCH A GREAT DAY FOR OUR ATHLETES AND OUR STUDENTS AND THE COMMUNITY.
THE BULK OF THE PLANNING FOR THAT IS REALLY DONE BY FOUR PEOPLE.
I WANTED TO TAKE JUST A MINUTE TO RECOGNIZE THEM.
THEY SPEND SO MANY HOURS, THEY GO OUT INTO THE COMMUNITY, THEY GET THE DONATIONS TO BE ABLE TO PAY FOR THE EVENT, AND THEY DO ALL THE PLANNING AND PREP WORK.
IT'S A LOT, AND IT TAKES TIME AWAY FROM THEIR FAMILIES.
JUST WANTED TO DO A LITTLE SOMETHING TO THANK THEM FOR THAT.
FIRST OFF IS LASHOUD POWELL [APPLAUSE] NEXT IS DR. KRISTI ROSADO [APPLAUSE].
[00:40:06]
[APPLAUSE] THEN ALSO IS MIA LUNA WHO COULD NOT BE HERE TONIGHT, BUT I'LL GET HER PLAQUE TO HER.SHE WORKS VERY HARD AND HELPS OUT WITH ALL OF THAT.
THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU [APPLAUSE]
>> THANK Y'ALL SO MUCH. THANK YOU.
MR. LAMB, ARE YOU PRESENTING FOR MS. JONES TONIGHT? OUR FRIENDS OF LITTLE ELM ISD PRESENTATION.
>> THANK YOU, SCHOOL BOARD, MR. LAMB, MS. FLORES, FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.
I THINK YOU KNOW WE STARTED SOMETHING THIS YEAR.
YOU'VE DONE IT IN THE PAST A LITTLE DIFFERENT WAY, BUT WITH SO MANY THINGS GOING ON AT THE LEGISLATIVE LEVEL AND JUST IN OUR WORLD RIGHT NOW, WE WANTED TO DO SOMETHING WHERE WE BROUGHT IN COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND REALLY AND TRULY, WE TRY TO SHOW THEM SOME OF THE OBSTACLES WE HAVE, SOME OF THE CHALLENGES.
A LOT OF THINGS ABOUT SCHOOL ARE NOT NECESSARILY INITIALLY EASY TO UNDERSTAND; THE WAY OUR FUNDING WORKS, THE WAY DIFFERENT LAWS WE HAVE TO FOLLOW WORK.
WE REVAMPED AN OLD PROGRAM, THE CLASS PROGRAM, AND WE CALL IT FRIENDS OF LEISD.
WE HAD BASICALLY A MEETING A MONTH AND TALKED ABOUT THE DIFFERENT TOPICS OF THINGS THAT GO ON IN SCHOOL.
WE HAD A GOOD GROUP OF PEOPLE THIS YEAR COME AND SPEND THAT TIME WITH US, SEVERAL OF YOU WERE WHAT WE CALL PSEUDO MEMBERS OR YOU WERE A PART OF IT.
DID WHAT? YOU DID HAVE 100% ATTENDANCE SO THANK YOU.
BUT WE WANTED TO INVITE THOSE PEOPLE TONIGHT AND LET THEM BE RECOGNIZED.
WE CONSIDER THEM AMBASSADORS FOR OUR SCHOOL, WE CONSIDER THEM PEOPLE THAT ARE KNOWLEDGEABLE OF WHAT'S GOING ON AND THEY'RE ABLE TO HOPEFULLY SPREAD THE GOOD WORD OF SOME OF THE GREAT THINGS WE'RE DOING.
YOU GET TO SEE A GREAT EXAMPLE TONIGHT OF THE GREAT PROGRAMS WE HAVE, THE GREAT THINGS OUR KIDS ARE ABLE TO DO.
THESE FOLKS HAVE BEEN GREAT ABOUT COMING, ASKING QUESTIONS AND LEARNING JUST EXACTLY WHAT SCHOOL IS ALL ABOUT.
IF YOU'LL HELP ME, I'LL ASK THEM TO COME FORWARD.
[APPLAUSE] [BACKGROUND] [NOISE] KRISTEN JONES.
[APPLAUSE] MEGHAN GREEN [APPLAUSE] JOY VON RUSSELL.
[00:45:07]
SHANNON FACEY.[APPLAUSE] COURTNEY KANTE. [APPLAUSE] [LAUGHTER]
[APPLAUSE] DO WHAT? [INAUDIBLE] STEPHEN LINDOS.
[APPLAUSE] NOT EVEN GOING TO SAY HER NAME.
>> [INAUDIBLE] [APPLAUSE] LESLIE [INAUDIBLE]. [APPLAUSE] [BACKGROUND] SAY WHAT? JESSICA DANIEL. COME ON UP I KNOW.
SHE MUST NOT HAVE RSVP'D PROPERLY.
DID YOU? YOU WANT TO HOLD SOMEBODY ELSE'S? [LAUGHTER] AGAIN, I JUST WANT TO SAY THIS GROUP HAS BEEN AMAZING.
THEY'VE SPENT A LOT OF TIME WITH US THIS YEAR.
WE'RE GOING TO DO IT AGAIN NEXT YEAR AND THE NEXT, AND THEY'RE GOING TO HELP US FIND MORE PEOPLE, AND PRETTY SOON WE'LL HAVE A WHOLE ARMY OF PEOPLE THAT ARE LOBOS AND WANT TO DOING THE GREAT THINGS THAT WE CONTINUE TO DO HERE AT LITTLE ELM ISD.
WE'RE GOING TO TAKE A PICTURE. [APPLAUSE]
>> HEY, MR. LAMB, IF I CAN PUT IN THERE.
YOU NOTICE WE DON'T HAVE ANY MEN IN THE LINE HERE.
I'M GOING TO INVITE YOU GENTLEMEN TO COME NEXT YEAR AND BE PART OF FRIENDS OF LITTLE ELM.
>> YOU DID A GREAT JOB PRETENDING TO BE MS. JONES.
MR. BARTLETT, YOU ARE UP NEXT WITH OUR STUDENTS OF THE MONTH.
PRESIDENT WATKINS, MR. LAMB, SCHOOL BOARD, BOARD OF TRUSTEES.
AGAIN, WE'RE GOING TO DO OUR LAST AND FINAL INSTALLMENT OF OUR SUPERINTENDENT SPOTLIGHT.
WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO THIS EVENING WHEN WE CALL THE PRINCIPAL UP OR THE PERSON THAT'S HERE FOR THE SCHOOL, WHETHER THAT BE A TEACHER OR AN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OR THE PRINCIPAL.
PARENTS, COME ON UP WITH YOUR CHILD BECAUSE WE WANT TO GET A PICTURE WITH YOU WHEN WE GET A PICTURE WITH YOUR CHILD.
PLEASE COME ON UP WHEN WE CALL YOUR NAME.
FIRST UP IS MR. H WITH ZELLARS? [APPLAUSE].
>> MS. BAKER IS GOING TO DO THE TALKING TONIGHT. THANK YOU.
I'M A TEACHER AT ZELLARS EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOL NEXT DOOR, AND I AM VERY PROUD TO CALL MYSELF SANTI'S TEACHER.
SANTI HAS GROWN THIS YEAR IN ALL AREAS OF DEVELOPMENT.
BUT WHEN I SEE SANTI, I SEE A STUDENT WHO IS TALLER.
HE'S GOT A FEW NEW TEETH THIS YEAR, BUT HE'S ALSO ENGAGED EVERY DAY IN CLASS.
HE'S USING HIS DEVICES TO ADVOCATE FOR HIMSELF AND HE'S A LEADER IN OUR CLASSROOM.
[00:50:03]
>> WANT TO TAKE A PICTURE? YOU WANT ME TO HOLD IT? I'LL HOLD IT FOR YOU. I'M GOING TO GIVE YOU THE MIC.
>> MS. HOLMES, WOULD YOU COME UP FOR BRENT, PLEASE?
>> THAT'S A HUGE STUDENT. [LAUGHTER] HI, I'M ASHLEY HOLMES.
THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF BRENT.
WE ARE RECOGNIZING JESUS FERNANDEZ MONDRAGON.
IF HE COULD COME DOWN WITH HIS PARENTS.
[APPLAUSE] I'M GOING TO READ WHAT HIS TEACHER SAID ABOUT HIM FIRST IN ENGLISH, AND ONE OF HIS TEACHERS, MR. [INAUDIBLE] IS GOING TO READ IT IN SPANISH.
WE ARE NOMINATING JESUS FERNANDEZ FOR THE SPOTLIGHT AWARD BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN A GREAT ROLE MODEL TO HIS PEERS.
JESUS IS RESPECTFUL, KIND, AND PATHETIC, CREATIVE AND A HARDWORKING STUDENT.
HE NEVER GIVES UP AND STRIVES TO GIVE AND DO HIS BEST.
>> NEXT UP, WE HAVE CHAVEZ, AND WE HAVE SARAH FROM CHAVEZ.
CHAVEZ IS NOT HERE TONIGHT? WELL, DO WE HAVE ALI JAMAL HERE THIS EVENING? NO. ALI JAMAL.
>> HACKBERRY, MR. MENEZES HERE AND SARAH, BOTH THE TEACHER. [APPLAUSE]
>> GOOD EVENING. FRANCESCA GUZMAN AND HER FAMILY, IF YOU COULD COME DOWN AND JOIN US.
I'M GOING TO LET OUR FIFTH GRADE TEACHER, MS. ROMIG SPEAK ABOUT HER, BUT BEFORE SHE STARTS, I JUST WANT TO SAY, FRANCESCA, THANK YOU FOR MAKING HACKBERRY A BETTER PLACE.
IT WAS BETTER BECAUSE YOU WERE PART OF IT.
>> I WROTE A LOT, BUT I'M GOING TO READ QUICK.
I'VE RECOMMENDED FRANCESCA FOR THE STUDENT SPOTLIGHT FOR MANY REASONS, BUT I JUST WANT TO TELL YOU ABOUT TWO OF THEM.
FRANCESCA IS A HARD WORKER WITH A LOT OF PERSEVERANCE FOR A FIFTH GRADER.
I HAVE SEEN HER STRUGGLE WITH ASSIGNMENTS FROM TIME TO TIME, AND SHE NEVER GIVES UP, NEVER COMPLAINS, AND NEVER FAILS TO TURN IN ANYTHING, EVEN IF THAT MEANS SHE HAS TO TAKE IT HOME TO FINISH.
SHE'S EVEN BROUGHT THINGS BACK TO ME THAT I'VE FORGOTTEN ABOUT.
THIS SHOWS ME THAT SHE'S TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR HER WORK AND TAKING OWNERSHIP OF HER LEARNING.
NUMBER 2, FRANCESCA HAS ALSO IMPRESSED ME ALL YEAR WITH HER CONSISTENT RESPECT FOR ALL OF THE TEACHERS AND STAFF AT HACKBERRY.
NO MATTER WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE CLASSROOM OR IN THE HALLWAY AROUND HER, NO MATTER HOW THOSE PEOPLE ARE CHOOSING TO BEHAVE, SHE ALWAYS FOLLOWS THE RULES OF THE SCHOOL AND OF THE CLASSROOM.
I HAVE NEVER SEEN HER BE RUDE OR DISRESPECTFUL TO AN ADULT OR A CHILD.
I'M SO HAPPY TO HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE FRANCESCA IN MY SCIENCE CLASS THIS YEAR AND I KNOW THAT SHE IS MORE THAN READY FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL.
CONGRATULATIONS ON THIS HONOR, FRANCESCA, AND THANK YOU TO YOUR FAMILY.
[00:55:22]
>> GOOD. MR. REZA FROM LAKEVIEW.

ADALINE, YOU WANT TO COME ON UP? MS. RICHARDS AND ADALINE'S FAMILY.
[APPLAUSE] DID YOU WANT TO DO THIS? DID YOU WANT TO READ IT OR YOU WANT ME TO?
SHE IS A THIRD GRADER AT OAK POINT, AND THIS IS HER TEACHER, MRS. RICHARDS, AND SHE'S GOING TO READ WHAT SHE WROTE.
>> I NOMINATED HER LAST MONTH.
THEN THEY PICKED SOMEONE ELSE AND I NOMINATED HER AGAIN.
I'M LIKE, I'M GOING TO NOMINATE HER UNTIL SHE GETS IT, SO HERE WE ARE.
ADALINE IS A WONDERFUL EXAMPLE OF LOBO.
SHE'S A BRIGHT PART OF EVERYONE'S DAY.
SHE COMES IN WITH A SMILE EACH MORNING AND SHE CARRIES THAT POSITIVE ENERGY THROUGHOUT THE DAY.
ADALINE IS A VERY HARD WORKER THAT DEMONSTRATES PERSEVERANCE AND RESPONSIBILITY.
SHE IS ALWAYS ATTENTIVE IN CLASS AND LOVES LEARNING.
SHE IS ALWAYS WILLING TO ACCEPT FEEDBACK TO MAKE HERSELF BETTER AND SHE HAS AN INNER DRIVE TO BE THE BEST SHE CAN BE.
SHE LOVES HELPING HER TEACHER AND CLASSMATES.
I'VE NEVER HEARD HER SAY ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT ANY OF HER CLASSMATES AND SHE IS WILLING TO HELP ANYONE OUT AND BE A TEAM PLAYER.
SHE IS PATIENT AND KIND WHEN HELPING OTHERS.
SHE MAKES SURE THAT EVERYONE FEELS INCLUDED.
WHEN SOMEONE IS HAVING A HARD TIME, SHE OFFERS TO HELP BY SHOWING HER CLASSMATES HOW TO DO SOMETHING OR HELPING THEM GET STARTED.
SHE IS ALWAYS SO RESPECTFUL TO HER TEACHERS AND SAYS, YES, MA'AM, AND NO MA'AM, AND SHE NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME WITH HER KINDNESS AND HARD WORK.
MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT ADALINE IS HER KIND AND GENTLE SPIRIT.
HER SMILE NOT ONLY LIGHTS UP THE ROOM, BUT WARMS THE HEARTS OF THOSE AROUND HER.
SHE IS A LOBO THROUGH AND THROUGH AND MAKES HER PACK BETTER.
>> THANK YOU. [APPLAUSE] MS. ALLEN FROM PRESTWICK.
>> [BACKGROUND] HI. I'M JAMEY ALLEN.
I'M THE PRINCIPAL AT PRESTWICK, AND THIS IS JACOB DEWOLF AND HIS FAMILY, AND WE WANT TO RECOGNIZE JACOB TONIGHT.
MAN, FOURTH GRADE HAS BEEN THE YEAR FOR JACOB.
SINCE THE BEGINNING OF FOURTH GRADE, JACOB HAS MADE INCREDIBLE PROGRESS BOTH SOCIALLY AND ACADEMICALLY.
HE REALLY COME OUT OF HIS SHELL, TALKING MORE WITH HIS PEERS.
[01:00:01]
HE'S LEARNED HOW TO ADVOCATE FOR HIMSELF IN A CALM AND CONFIDENT WAY, ASKING FOR HELP WHEN HE NEEDS IT.HE'S MADE GREAT STRIDES IN READING COMPREHENSION AND CAN TACKLE HIGHER LEVEL THINKING QUESTIONS.
HE HAS ALSO MET SEVERAL OF HIS MATH GOALS.
ON TOP OF THAT, HE'S BECOME MORE EMPATHETIC TOWARDS OTHERS, OFTEN CHECKING IN WHEN SOMEONE IS UPSET AND ASKING HOW HE CAN HELP.
HIS GROWTH THIS YEAR HAS BEEN TRULY INSPIRING AND MAKES HIM A GREAT CHOICE FOR THE SUPERINTENDENT STAR AWARD.
>> MR. BILL BUSH, COME ON DOWN FROM STRIKE.
HE SHOULD LOOK PRETTY FAMILIAR.
HE WAS DOWN HERE JUST A LITTLE BIT.
DANTE IS GOING TO BE THE STRIKE STUDENT OF THE MONTH, RUN OF APPLAUSE FOR DANTE.
[APPLAUSE] I'M GOING TO SAY SOME WONDERFUL THINGS ABOUT DANTE THAT IS TEACHERS MISS CURRINGTON SITTING IN THE BACK, SO I'M GOING TO READ HER WORDS FOR HER.
WHY DID MISS CURRINGTON NOMINATE DANTE? BECAUSE HE IS THE PERFECT.
SEE IT'S WRITTEN RIGHT THERE ON IT.
DANTE ALONG WITH THREE OTHER STRIKE SINGERS, HAS EARNED A COVETED SPOT IN THE TCDA, ALL STATE MIDDLE SCHOOL HONOR CHOIR.
AUDITIONING ALONGSIDE MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM ACROSS THE STATE, HE SECURED HIS PLACE AMONG TEXAS BEST YOUNG VOCALISTS.
THIS JULY, HE WILL PROUDLY REPRESENT STRIKE MIDDLE SCHOOL AND LITTLE MISD IN THE TCDA CONVENTION CLINIC AND CONCERT SHOWCASING HIS TALENT IN THE PRESTIGIOUS GROUP.
I'LL SAY IT'S VERY INTERESTING AT THE SPRING CONCERT, AND LOTS OF VOICES AS SOON AS DANTE COMES TO THE MIC, YOU KNOW IT'S DANTE.
WE WON'T PUT HIM ON THE SPOT HERE, BUT IT IS VERY GOOD.
HE'S MORE THAN JUST A CHOIR STUDENT.
MISS STEVENS IN SCIENCE ALSO SAID, DANTE IS THE STUDENT YOU COME TO SCHOOL FOR.
HE IS SO KIND AND CONSIDERATE.
HE WORKS VERY HARD AND DOES HIS BEST AT ALL TIMES.
I HAVE LOVED HAVING HIM IN CLASS, AND I'M ALSO SO PROUD OF HIS CHOIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
DANTE IS CURRENTLY IN TENOR BASED CHOIR ATHLETICS AND WAS ON THE AB HONOR ROLL FOR SEMESTER 1, AND WAS ON THE A HONOR ROLL FOR QUARTER 3 DANTE MITCHELL.
>> THANK YOU, DANTE. MISS BROWN, WALKER, MIDDLE SCHOOL.
>> GOOD EVENING. TIGHT, WE ARE RECOGNIZING ROBERT, ALSO KNOWN AS RJ KENNEDY FOR OUR STUDENT OF AT WALKER.
FROM A FELLOW STUDENT, MY FRIEND ROBERT STANDS OUT BECAUSE HE WORKS HARD.
HE ALWAYS DOES HIS BEST, HELPS PEOPLE, KEEPS LEARNING, AND IS SOMEONE EVERYONE CAN COUNT ON.
MISS DUNCAN, HIS MATH TEACHER SAYS, RJ COMES TO CLASS, READY TO LEARN AND GOES OUT OF HIS WAY TO MAKE SURE HE STAYS ON TOP OF HIS SCHOOLWORK.
HE MAKES OUR MATH CLASS SO FUN.
RJ IS VERY RESPECTFUL, FUNNY, AND FRIENDLY CHOIR.
HE'S ALWAYS DOING THE RIGHT THING.
MISS ESSEN, HIS ENGLISH TEACHER SHARED.
RJ DEMONSTRATES EXCELLENCE BY COMPLETING HIS WORK ON TIME AND COMING TO CLASS PREPARED.
HE IS ALWAYS IN GOOD SPIRITS AND READY TO LEARN.
MISS TOWNSEND, HIS WORLD CULTURES TEACHER,
[01:05:03]
SHARED THAT RJ HAS BEEN A JOY TO HAVE HAVING CLASS.HE TRIES TO HELP ALL OF HIS CLASSMATES WITH UNDERSTANDING THE CONTENT.
HE'S TRULY A HARD WORKER AND NEVER GIVES UP.
I'M SO PROUD TO BE HIS TEACHER.
>> THANK YOU, ROBERT. THEN WE HAVE MISS JENCHER FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL.
>> THE TOP ONE. I'D LIKE TO ASK C KRISTA STEFANSKI AND HER FAMILY TO COME ON DOWN.
YES. KRISTA IS ONE OF THE STUDENTS OF THE MONTH FOR LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL.
SHE DEMONSTRATES THE PORTRAIT OF A LOBO CHARACTERISTICS OF RESPONSIBILITY, EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE, AND COLLABORATION.
HER CHEMISTRY TEACHER, MISS PHILLIPS, SAYS, KRISTA IS AN OUTSTANDING STUDENT WHO CONSISTENTLY DEMONSTRATES ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE, A STRONG WORK ETHIC, AND A GENUINE KINDNESS TOWARD OTHERS.
HER DEDICATION TO HER STUDIES IS EVIDENT IN THE HIGH QUALITY WORK SHE PRODUCES AND SHE'S ALWAYS WILLING TO GO THE EXTRA MILE TO SUCCEED.
SHE LEADS BY EXAMPLE THROUGH HER DILIGENCE AND POSITIVE ATTITUDE, AND SHE CONTINUALLY ASPIRES TO ACHIEVE HIGHER EDUCATION AND MAKE A MEANINGFUL IMPACT IN HER FUTURE.
MISS HOSNI ADDED, KRISTA IS INCREDIBLY HARDWORKING, KIND, AND HUMBLE.
WHAT TRULY SETS HER APART IS HER COMMITMENT TO THOSE AROUND HER.
SHE CONSISTENTLY ACTS AS A SECOND TEACHER IN THE ROOM, MAKING SURE NO ONE IS LEFT BEHIND.
HER WILLINGNESS TO HELP OTHERS PAIRED WITH HER STRONG ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE MAKES HER A ROLE MODEL TO HER PEERS.
THEN MISS HARDEN SAID, I'VE HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF BEING KRISTA'S TEACHER AND CLUB SPONSOR FOR THREE YEARS.
IN THAT TIME, IT'S BEEN A BLESSING TO SEE HER FIND HER VOICE AND TRANSFORM INTO A LEADER ON HER CAMPUS.
KRISTA IS INSIGHTFUL, MATURE, CARING, AND RESPONSIBLE.
SHE MODELS EXCELLENCE AND EVERYTHING SHE DOES, AND I'M CONTINUALLY IMPRESSED BY THE AMBITIOUS GOALS SHE SETS FOR HERSELF AND THE GRIT AND HARD WORK SHE SHOWS WHILE PURSUING THOSE GOALS.
KRISTA IS AN AMAZING YOUNG WOMAN IN LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL IS LUCKY TO HAVE HER AS PART OF OUR COMMUNITY.
THANK YOU FOR BEING SUCH A VALUABLE PART OF OUR SCHOOL.
[APPLAUSE] AND WE HAVE A BONUS STUDENT OF THE MONTH FOR MAY MATTIAS.
WILL YOU PLEASE COME UP WITH YOUR FAMILY? [APPLAUSE] MATTIAS DEMONSTRATES THE PORTRAIT OF A LOBO CHARACTERISTICS OF COMMUNICATION, CREATIVITY, CONFIDENCE, AND RESPONSIBILITY.
COACH MARTINEZ SAYS MATTIAS HAS BEEN A VOCAL AND A BY EXAMPLE LEADER THIS YEAR.
HE HAS EXCELLENT TIME MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS.
MISS ADDED, MATTIAS HAS BEEN IN WIND ENSEMBLE THE PAST THREE YEARS AND WAS A MAJOR THIS YEAR AND WILL BE RETURNING AS A SECOND YEAR DRUM MAJOR AGAIN.
HE GRACEFULLY BALANCES HIS HIGH ACADEMIC STANDARDS, VARSITY GOLF, VARSITY SOCCER, AND BAND BY COMMUNICATING CLEARLY WITH HIS TEAMMATES, COACHES, AND BAND STAFF.
MATTIAS DISPLAYS A LEVEL OF MATURITY, THOUGHTFULNESS, ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS, AND LEADERSHIP THAT FAR EXCEED THAT OF HIS PEERS.
MISS HOSNI ADDED, MATTIAS IS EXCEPTIONALLY HARD WORKING, HUMBLE, AND POLITE, WITH A WONDERFUL SENSE OF HUMOR THAT BRIGHTENS OUR CLASSROOM.
WHAT'S EVEN MORE IMPRESSIVE IS HIS ABILITY TO SUCCESSFULLY BALANCE A DEMANDING ACADEMIC SCHEDULE WITH MULTIPLE EXTRA CURRICULAR COMMITMENTS.
MATTIAS, YOU MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT FOR US AT LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL.
CONGRATULATIONS, AND THANK YOU.
[01:10:45]
>> IF YOU ARE NOT HERE FOR A BUSINESS REASON, YOU ARE FREE TO LEAVE IF YOU SO DESIRE.
WE UNDERSTAND IT IS THE MONDAY OF THE SCHOOL YEAR AND PEOPLE HAVE TO GO TO BED.
[8. Reports of the Superintendent]
MR. FELICE AND MR. AYERS ARE GOING TO GIVE US A CURRICULUM AND LEARNING UP DATE.>> WELL, I LOVE GETTING TO TALK ABOUT ALL OF OUR AMAZING FINE ARTS TEACHERS, FINE ART STUDENTS, AND THE THINGS THAT HAPPENED DURING THE YEAR THIS YEAR.
IF YOU LOOK UP ON THE SCREEN, YOU'LL NOTICE THE FIRST THING IS THAT WE WERE FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR RECOGNIZED AS A BEST COMMUNITIES FOR MUSIC EDUCATION AND FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR, A TAEA DISTRICT OF DISTINCTION.
WE HAVE REAPPLIED FOR BOTH OF THOSE FOR NEXT YEAR.
I BELIEVE OUR PORTFOLIO FROM THE ART TEACHERS, WHICH IS MASSIVE TO TURN IN FOR THIS TAEA DISTRICT DISTINCTION.
IT IS A TON OF WORK IS DUE, I THINK IN JUNE.
WE'VE GOT A LITTLE BIT MORE TIME TO PREPARE FOR THAT.
WE ALSO MAY HAVE SOME PRESENTATIONS IN SEPTEMBER REGARDING THEATER THAT WE ARE APPLYING FOR FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER.
WE'LL TALK MORE ABOUT THAT LATER AS THAT HAPPENS.
ON THE NEXT SLIDE, WHICH I GUESS I HAVE THE CLICKER. LET'S SEE HERE.
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER USED THIS IN THE BOARD MEETING.
SEE, I'VE LEARNED SOMETHING NEW TONIGHT.
JUST TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF THE PROGRAM.
WE NOW HAVE SEVEN DISCIPLINES THAT WE TEACH IN LITTLE ELM ISD IN THE FINE ARTS, ADDING, OF COURSE, I GUESS THAT ONE SLIDE IS NOT UP THERE, RIGHT, BUT WE ALSO SHOULD HAVE ON THAT SLIDE, BALLET FOLKLORICO, WHICH WE ADDED TWO YEARS AGO.
WE NOW WE WENT FROM SEVEN STUDENTS TWO YEARS AGO TO 28 STUDENTS THIS YEAR.
WE HAVE 30 SIGNED UP FOR NEXT YEAR, AND WE STARTED A FOLK LORICO CLUB AT OAK POINT ELEMENTARY, WHICH HAS 46 STUDENTS IN IT.
WE'RE SEEING A LOT OF GROWTH WITH THAT, A LOT OF EXCITEMENT ABOUT OFFERING SOMETHING THAT BALLET FOLKLORICO.
THAT WILL BE A CLASS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL NEXT YEAR, SO IT'LL BE SOMETHING THAT'S MEETING EVERY DAY INSTEAD OF JUST ONCE A WEEK AS A CLUB.
YOU'LL ALSO NOTICE WE STILL HAVE ALL OF THE THINGS WE'VE OFFERED BEFORE.
THAT BALLET FOLK LOCO BEING THE NEWEST THING.
NOW, THE NEXT SLIDE JUST SHOWS OUR ENROLLMENT FOR THIS YEAR.
ENROLLMENT SO FAR, NOW WE ALWAYS HAVE ALL OF OUR K-5 ELEMENTARY STUDENTS TAKING MUSIC AND ART.
I JUST LEARNED THIS YEAR IS THE FIRST TIME I EVER KNEW THIS THAT WE'RE ONE OF THE FEW SCHOOL DISTRICTS AROUND US THAT ALL OF OUR ELEMENTARY MUSIC AND ART TEACHERS ARE CERTIFIED TEACHERS.
I CAME TO KNOW THAT BY TALKING TO A FINE ARTS DIRECTOR FROM ANOTHER SIX A DISTRICT NEAR US NORTHEAST OF US.
THAT SAID, NONE OF MY ELEMENTARY ART TEACHERS ARE TAUGHT BY CERTIFIED TEACHERS.
I SAID, WELL, WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT? THEY'RE CERTIFIED TEACHERS, BUT BECAUSE THEY HAVE THAT ELEMENTARY CERTIFICATION, THEY CAN BE TAUGHT BY REGULAR CLASSROOM TEACHERS, WHERE WE MAKE SURE ALL OF OURS ARE CERTIFIED SPECIFICALLY IN ART, WHICH IS I THINK A GREAT THING FOR OUR STUDENTS IN THIS DISTRICT.
ALL OF OUR COURSES, OF COURSE,
[01:15:01]
AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL ARE ABILITY BASED GROUPING, MEANING THEY AUDITION YEARLY FOR PLACEMENT TO BE PUT IN THE GROUP, WHERE THEY'RE GOING TO BE CHALLENGED, WHERE THEY'RE GOING TO BE SUCCESSFUL.YOU'LL NOTICE THAT MIDDLE SCHOOL, EVEN WITH THE DOUBLE BLOCKING THIS YEAR OF THE ONE COURSE, WE STILL HAD A 2% GROWTH IN OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL OVERALL MIDDLE SCHOOL FINE ARTS ENROLLMENT.
NOW HIGH SCHOOL WAS DOWN, I ACTUALLY REVISED THAT.
IT'S DOWN ABOUT 5% FROM LAST YEAR.
THAT'S A FEW DIFFERENT THINGS.
I THINK IT HAS TO DO A LITTLE BIT STILL WITH THE TWEAKING OF THE SCHEDULE THAT WE'RE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WITH THE ACCELERATED BLOCK SCHEDULE FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, AS WELL AS SOME OTHER THINGS, PROGRAMS THAT WE'RE GOING THROUGH SOME CHANGE THAT WE'VE SOLIDIFIED NOW.
I EXPECT THAT NEXT YEAR THE HIGH SCHOOL ENROLLMENT SHOULD BE BACK OVER 50% AGAIN NEXT YEAR AS WELL.
BUT OVERALL IN LITTLE LISD, 77 OF ALL OF OUR STUDENTS IN THE DISTRICT PARTICIPATE IN AT LEAST ONE FINE ARTS PROGRAM.
JUST TO SHOW YOU WHAT OUR STAFFING LOOKS LIKE.
WE HAVE 15 TEACHERS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, ONE PARAPROFESSIONAL, WHICH IS MISSES ZOTTI THAT WE MET EARLIER.
SHE'S OUR COLOR GUARD DIRECTOR.
WE HAVE ONE SHARED TEACHER THAT IS THE ASSISTANT CHOIR DIRECTOR BETWEEN STRIKE AND WALKER, AND SEVEN TEACHERS, BOTH AT WALKER AND STRIKE MIDDLE SCHOOLS, 14, OF COURSE, TWO ELEMENTARY MUSIC AND AN ART TEACHER AT EACH OF WHICH WILL BE NOW SEVEN ELEMENTARIES, AND OF COURSE, MYSELF.
>> SOME OF THE GOALS FOR THIS YEAR ARE CARRIED OVER FROM LAST YEAR, SOME ARE NEW, INCREASING THE NUMBER OF FINE ARTS OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS IN K-12.
WE'VE DONE THAT BY EXPANDING SOME OF OUR PROGRAMS LIKE OUR BALLET FOLK LOCO, GOING TO OAK POINT ELEMENTARY, HAVING MORE STUDENTS INVOLVED IN THAT PROGRAM, MAKING IT NOW A CLASS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL, WHERE IT WAS JUST A CLUB MEETING ONE DAY A WEEK BEFORE.
WE HAVE PROGRAMS LIKE OUR JAZZ ENSEMBLE.
NOW WE HAVE TWO JAZZ ENSEMBLES AT THE HIGH SCHOOL THAT ARE COMPETING INSTEAD OF ONE.
WE HAVE TWICE THE NUMBER OF KIDS INVOLVED IN THE PROGRAMS. WE ARE TRYING TO GET MORE AND MORE KIDS BECAUSE WE UNDERSTAND AS FINE ARTS TEACHERS THAT THESE STUDENTS WHEN THEY HAVE SOMETHING THAT THEY CAN LATCH ONTO, SOMETHING THAT THEY LOVE, SOMETHING THAT THEY'RE PASSIONATE ABOUT, YOU'RE GOING TO SEE ATTENDANCE GO UP, GRADES GO UP, DISCIPLINE PROBLEMS DISAPPEAR, AND THAT'S WHAT WE WANT FROM EVERY STUDENT.
WE WANT TO FIND THOSE THINGS OUR KIDS LOVE TO DO, AND WE WANT TO INVEST IN THAT.
DEVELOPING A STRATEGIC PLAN FOR IMPROVING ALL OF OUR FINE ARTS PROGRAMS. NOW, OF COURSE, THAT'S ONGOING.
RIGHT NOW LOOKING AT HIGH SCHOOL FUTURE RENOVATIONS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, THE FINE ARTS WING, AND WHAT WE'RE GOING TO BE ABLE TO DO WITH THAT, AS WELL AS LOOKING DOWN THE ROAD FOR BUDGETS, CURRICULUM, ET CETERA, FOCUS ON SPECIFIC PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR FINE ARTS.
BEFORE FOUR YEARS AGO, IT WAS VERY HARD TO BRING IN SPECIALISTS BECAUSE WE DIDN'T HAVE A FINE ARTS DIRECTOR.
OUR FINE ARTS TEACHERS WERE SITTING IN EVERY DAY, ALL OF THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT THAT WAS BEING ORGANIZED THROUGH THE CAMPUS.
SOMETIMES EVEN THOUGH IT WAS VALUABLE INFORMATION, IT DIDN'T SPECIFICALLY APPLY TO OUR FINE ARTS TEACHERS.
MORE AND MORE NOW, WE'RE HAVING SPECIALISTS COME IN IN THEATER, IN ART, IN MUSIC, IN CHOIR, AND WORKING WITH OUR TEACHERS TO INCREASE THEIR ABILITY LEVEL.
WE'VE HAD SOME GREAT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AGAIN THIS YEAR WITH OUR FINE ARTS TEACHERS.
STRATEGIC PLAN FOR FINE ARTS FACILITIES.
WE TALKED ABOUT THE RENOVATION COMING UP AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, AND ENCOURAGING ALL OF OUR TEACHERS TO BE MORE INVOLVED WITH THE REGIONAL AND NATIONAL FINE ARTS ORGANIZATIONS.
WE HAVE ALMOST 100% ENROLLMENT WITH ALL OF OUR TEACHERS AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL AND ELEMENTARY IN THEIR LOCAL FINE ARTS ORGANIZATIONS, SUCH AS TAEA FOR OUR ART TEACHERS, TMEA FOR OUR CHOIR DIRECTORS, OUR BAND DIRECTORS, OUR ELEMENTARY MUSIC TEACHERS, TXEA, I BELIEVE IS WHAT IT IS, FOR OUR THEATER DIRECTORS.
WE'RE TRYING TO GET THEM TO BE MORE INVOLVED.
THIS YEAR, MS. CASSIE CURRINGTON, WHO'S BEEN MENTIONED EARLIER WITH STRIKE MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIR.
SHE WAS THE FIRST TEACHER FROM LITTLE ELM ISD TO GIVE A CLINIC AT THE TMEA CONVENTION THIS PAST FEBRUARY IN SAN ANTONIO.
WE WERE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THAT.
THE PRESTWICK ELEMENTARY TROUBLEMAKERS, WHICH IS THEIR ORPHAN ENSEMBLE, WAS THE FIRST GROUP FROM LITTLE ELM ISD TO PRESENT A CONCERT.
NOW WE HAVE OUR LEHS PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE THAT HAS BEEN INVITED TO PLAY IN ONE OF THE BIGGEST STAGES FOR HIGH SCHOOL THERE IS, WHICH IS THE MIDWEST CLINIC IN CHICAGO THIS COMING DECEMBER.
WE'LL BE TALKING MORE ABOUT THAT IN THE FALL, BUT WE'RE SUPER EXCITED.
OUR DIRECTORS ARE GETTING INVOLVED. THEY'RE LEADING CLINICS.
SHE'S THE ART TEACHER AT PRESTWICK ELEMENTARY.
SHE DID A CLINIC AT THE TAEA CONVENTION THIS YEAR, FIRST TIME WE'VE EVER HAD, I THINK THAT WAS IN GALVESTON, IS THE FIRST TIME WE'VE EVER HAD A TEACHER FROM LITTLE ELM GIVE A CLINIC SESSION AT AN ART CONVENTION.
THE TEACHERS ARE GETTING MORE INVOLVED.
THEY'RE STEPPING UP AND THEY'RE DOING THIS NOT FOR THEMSELVES.
THEY'RE DOING IT BECAUSE THEY LOVE THEIR STUDENTS, AND THEY WANT TO LEAD AND THEY WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY'RE OFFERING THE VERY BEST THINGS AND KNOWING THE VERY BEST THINGS FOR OUR STUDENTS.
I'M VERY PROUD OF THOSE GOALS FROM THIS PAST YEAR.
[01:20:01]
LET'S SEE HERE. NEXT SLIDE, ACTIVITIES WE'VE ALREADY TALKED ABOUT.IT WAS OUR THIRD YEAR TO BE RECOGNIZED BY THE NAM FOUNDATION FOR BEST COMMUNITIES FOR MUSIC EDUCATION, OUR SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR FOR THE TAEA DISTRICT OF DISTINCTION.
PRESWK PERFORMING AT THE TMEA CONVENTION, OUR WINNER GUARD AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, WINNING THE 2025 SCHOLASTIC OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP.
GUYS, I HAVE TO TELL YOU AGAIN, IF YOU DIDN'T GET TO SEE THAT, I WISH I COULD HAVE A VIDEO TO SHOW YOU, BUT I THINK THEY COPYRIGHT EVERYTHING AND WHEN YOU GO BACK AND YOU REPLAY THE CHAMPIONSHIPS, THEY TAKE THE MUSIC OUT, SO YOU SEE THEM PERFORMING, BUT WITH NO MUSIC, IT'S STRANGE.
IT'S LIKE WATCHING A MARCHING BAND WITH NO SOUND.
IT'S INTERESTING BUT NOT THE SAME.
BUT THESE STUDENTS ARE AMAZING.
YOU START OFF WITH HUNDREDS OF GROUPS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY, AND THEN YOU GET DOWN TO THE FINALS.
THEY HAVE PRELIMINARIES, WHERE THERE ARE ABOUT 60-75 GROUPS, THEN YOU GET DOWN TO SEMIFINALS, OR THEY'RE ABOUT 30 GROUPS.
NOW YOU'RE IN FINALS, 15 GROUPS, AND FOR US TO COME OUT FIRST PLACE IN THE COUNTRY IS A PRETTY PHENOMENAL FEAT.
NOW THAT WE'LL BE COMPETING IN SCHOLASTIC WORLD, THERE'S ONLY A FEW OF THOSE GROUPS IN THE STATE OF TEXAS.
WE'RE COMPETING AGAINST THE VERY BEST.
OUR PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE BEING NOT ONLY INVITED TO THE MIDWEST CLINIC, BUT THIS YEAR AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR, THEY WERE RECOGNIZED AS A COMMENDED WINNER IN THE MARK OF EXCELLENCE COMPETITION.
THAT'S A NATIONAL COMPETITION.
THEY ONLY RECOGNIZED FOUR OR FIVE GROUPS A YEAR, WE WERE ONE OF THOSE THIS YEAR BEING A COMMITTED WINNER IN THE MARK OF EXCELLENCE, AND THAT'S A CREDIT TO OUR TEACHERS.
MR. NEAL, STEVEN NEAL, MATT NEAL AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, JUST A WONDERFUL TEACHER AND DOES A WONDERFUL JOB EVERY YEAR WITH OUR STUDENTS.
TO GIVE YOU A LITTLE INFORMATION ON EACH OF OUR DISCIPLINES, AND I'LL GO REALLY QUICKLY THROUGH THIS.
BY THE WAY, YOU WILL NOTICE THERE'S A LOT FOR BAND, FOR EXAMPLE.
THAT'S BECAUSE THEY HAVE TWICE THE NUMBER OF COMPETITIONS, IF YOU THINK ABOUT MARCHING BAND, FROM CHOIR AND THEATER.
THEY HAVE TWICE THE NUMBER TO FOUR TIMES THE NUMBER OF EVENTS THEY PERFORM IN.
ART, WE HAD 44 STUDENTS RECOGNIZED AT THE JUNIOR VASE THIS YEAR, 44.
THE REASON I'M SO HAPPY ABOUT THAT, THREE YEARS AGO, WE HAD I THINK IT WAS EIGHT OR NINE, AND NOW WE'RE UP TO 44 STUDENTS.
THREE YEARS LATER, WE'RE DOING SOME REALLY GREAT THINGS.
OUR ART TEACHERS ARE JUST KILLING IT.
WE HAD TEN STUDENTS AWARDED THE PLATINUM MEDAL.
PLATINUM, IF YOU DON'T KNOW, THEY SCORE ONE THROUGH FIVE.
THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS THAT WENT TO STATE BASE AND GOT A THREE OR FOUR, FOUR BEING EXEMPLARY, FIVE IS GOLD MEDAL PLATINUM AWARD, OR THEY CALL IT THE PLATINUM AWARD, THAT'S REALLY GOLD.
THE PLATINUM AWARD FOR ART, AND WE HAD TEN OF THOSE AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL.
NOW MIDDLE SCHOOL DOESN'T COMPETE AT STATE, THEY ONLY DO REGIONAL BASE COMPETITIONS.
WHAT WE RECOGNIZED EARLIER, THE SEVEN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS THAT WENT TO THE STATE BASE, I'M SORRY, THAT'S INCORRECT.
THE TEN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO WENT, THAT'S MY FAULT.
WITH SEVEN OF THEM GETTING EIGHT FOURS BECAUSE OF THE ONE STUDENT, KATELYN OTT, WHO HAD TWO WORKS OF ART THAT WERE JUDGED.
WE HAD AN LHS SENIOR WIN SEVERAL RECOGNITIONS IN AN ART CONTEST.
WE HAD TWO ELEMENTARY STUDENTS CHOSEN FOR A FINALIST IN A MUSIC MAGAZINE COVER COMPETITION.
THEY HAD TO DRAW SOMETHING THAT DEPICTED THEM IN MUSIC.
REALLY A COMBINATION OF TWO DISCIPLINES, I GUESS THERE.
BUT IT WAS THE TWO THAT WERE FINALISTS WERE JUST AMAZING, AND WE WENT RECOGNIZED THEM ON THEIR CAMPUS AND MADE A BIG DEAL ABOUT IT.
WE HAD ONE STUDENT THAT IS THE NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY HOSTED FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER AT A LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL ART SHOW THIS YEAR, AND THAT WAS AFTER OUR DISTRICT ART SHOW, IT SHOWCASED THE PORTFOLIOS MOSTLY OF THOSE STUDENTS GOING TO VASE, SHOWING WHAT THEY WERE GOING TO BE DOING.
WE HAD, OF COURSE, OUR ANNUAL DISTRICT ART SHOW HERE AT THE ADMINISTRATION BUILDING.
BAND, SOME OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
I'LL JUST LET YOU READ DOWN THAT INSTEAD OF ME JUST GOING THROUGH EVERY ONE OF THEM.
OUR BANDS ARE GETTING EXCELLENT AND SUPERIOR RATINGS AT JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING THEY GO TO.
WE HAVE NUMEROUS SOLO AND ENSEMBLE, SUPERIOR RATINGS EVERY YEAR FROM BOTH STRIKE WALKER AND LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL.
OUR KIDS ARE GOING TO FESTIVALS, OUR DIRECTORS ARE TAKING OUR KIDS TO EVERYTHING EPIC WATERS CORAL FESTIVAL TO THE ELEMENTARY, WHAT'S CALLED PIN STACK MUSIC FESTIVAL.
THEN ALL OF THESE LONESTAR CLASSIC MUSIC FESTIVALS FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL BAND AND CHOIRS, AND THEY'RE ALL JUST DOING A GREAT JOB.
OUR DRUM LINE FINISHED SECOND, FOURTH, AND FOURTH IN THE THREE DRUM LINE CONTEST THEY WENT TO THIS YEAR.
THE IMPRESSIVE THING ABOUT THAT IS THAT WE'RE NOT IN THE BOTTOM ANYMORE.
WE'RE COMPETING IN LARGE SCHOOLS, NOT SMALL SCHOOLS THAT WE USED TO COMPETE IN.
WHEN WE GO IN TO COMPETE, WE'RE NOT COMPETING AGAINST SALINA HIGH SCHOOL, WE'RE COMPETING AGAINST MARCUS.
WE'RE COMPETING AGAINST FLOWER MOUND, THOSE ARE WHEN WE'RE COMING IN SECOND, FOURTH AND FOURTH, THAT'S A BIG THING.
THEY'RE DOING SOME GREAT THINGS.
OUR WINNER GUARD, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TELL YOU ABOUT THEM THAT I HAVEN'T ALREADY SAID BECAUSE THEY'RE JUST AMAZING.
MS. ZOTTI IS JUST AN AMAZING TEACHER.
[01:25:02]
SHE'S GOT A GREAT STAFF IN TCA, WHICH IS THE LOCAL CIRCUIT, NORTH TEXAS COLOR GUARD ASSOCIATION.THEY WON THE GOLD MEDAL CAME IN FIRST PLACE IN OUR LOCAL CIRCUIT HERE IN NORTH TEXAS.
THEY WON EVERY COMPETITION THEY COMPETED IN THIS YEAR.
TO GO TO THE WGI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS AND IN EVERY ROUND, PRE LIMBS, SEMIS, AND FINALS TO BE IN FIRST PLACE.
IN ALL THREE ROUNDS, THAT IS JUST AWESOME.
THEY'RE JUST DOING SOME GREAT THINGS.
WE'LL KEEP GOING HERE BECAUSE YOU KNOW ME, I'LL BE UP HERE ALL NIGHT IF YOU LET ME.
CHOIR, OUR CHOIR PROGRAMS ARE REALLY COMING ON STRONG.
HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR, I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MUCH MS. ADAMS AND MISS LEWIS ARE JUST KILLING IT WITH THEIR STUDENTS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR.
I THINK THEY HAD THREE DIFFERENT ENSEMBLES OR TWO DIFFERENT ENSEMBLES, THE NON VARSITY AND VARSITY THAT GOT SWEEPSTAKES THIS YEAR AT UIL.
YOU LOOK AT STRIKE VARSITY, JV, AND MIXED CHOIR.
THEY HAD THREE GROUPS FROM STRIKE GET SWEEPSTAKES THIS YEAR.
THE MIXED CHOIR, THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IN SCHOOL HISTORY THAT WE'VE TAKEN A MIXED CHOIR.
THAT WAS SOMETHING VERY NEW THIS YEAR, AND THEY DID A GREAT JOB.
THE CHOIRS ARE ALSO HAVING MANY KIDS MAKING REGION CHOIR.
YOU NOTICED WE HAD FOUR STUDENTS UP HERE EARLIER TONIGHT THAT MADE THE TCDA A STATE MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIR.
THEY WENT TO THEIR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS THIS YEAR, THE BLUE ANGELS, AND THEY CAME IN SECOND RUNNER UP BOTH IN THE TEAM DIVISION AND IN THE OFFICER DIVISION.
I THINK THAT THEY FELT A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE THEY WANT TO WIN.
BUT THEY ARE DOING A GREAT JOB.
MS. DIKEM SHE IS WORKING SO HARD WITH THOSE KIDS AND THEY JUST LOVE DANCE.
THEY LOVE BEING ON THE DRILL TEAM.
I WENT TO THEIR END OF THE YEAR REVIEW CALLED LEGENDS THIS YEAR, AND GETTING TO SEE THOSE KIDS ON STAGE, MAN, THEY JUST LOVE IT.
THEY GET OUT THERE AND THEY DANCE AND ALMOST MAKES ME WANT TO GET UP AND DANCE, ALMOST.
MR. LAMB, I KNOW HE WOULD BE DANCING, BUT I'M NOT GOING TO DO IT.
BUT THEY'RE DOING SUCH A GREAT JOB.
NOW WITH THEATER, I'M TELLING YOU THAT THEATER IS GOING TO BE THE NEXT THING IN THIS DISTRICT THAT YOU'RE GOING TO START HERE IN LOTS OF GREAT THINGS ABOUT.
BECAUSE RIGHT NOW, OUR THEATER DEPARTMENT AT THE HIGH SCHOOL IS REALLY COMING ON STRONG.
THIS YEAR, THEY DID NOT ADVANCE, BUT THEY HAD AN ALL-STAR CAST MEMBER, HAD AN ALL-STAR HONORABLE MENTION, AND THEY HAD OUTSTANDING TECH.
OUR TWO MIDDLE SCHOOLS GOT SECOND AND THIRD PLACE AT UIL ON ACT FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL.
WE'VE NEVER EVEN COME IN IN ONE SCHOOL IN ANY PLACE IN THE TOP THREE BEFORE.
BUT WE HAD STRIKE MIDDLE SCHOOL PLACE SECOND, HAVE BEST TECH CREW, AND WALKER WAS RIGHT BEHIND THEM IN THIRD PLACE.
THEY'RE COMING ON, AND I KNOW ONE OF OUR TEACHERS OF THE YEAR THIS YEAR, JOSH BYARD, AT STRIKE MIDDLE SCHOOL, THE THEATER DIRECTOR, GREAT TEACHER DOING A GREAT JOB WITH THE STUDENTS.
THEY LOVE THEATER. ELEMENTARY TEACHERS, I'M GOING TO CONTINUE TO SAY EVERY YEAR, THEY'RE THE UNSUNG HEROES BECAUSE THOSE ELEMENTARY TEACHERS, THEY DON'T GET THE RECOGNITION LIKE THE SECONDARY TEACHERS DO.
IF MY BAND GOES SOMEWHERE AND WE WIN A MARCHING CONTEST, WE'RE GOING TO COME BACK AND, MARCHING BAND, THE MARCHING BAND.
NOBODY DOES THAT WITH ELEMENTARY TEACHERS AFTER A FIRST-GRADE MUSICAL.
NOBODY'S COME UP HERE. OH, THEY MIGHT COME BACK SAY, OH, THAT'S THE CUTEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE, BUT THOSE TEACHERS WORK SO HARD.
I'M GOING TO TELL YOU THEY ARE UNSUNG HEROES.
THIS YEAR, WE HAD OUR FIRST PERFORMANCE WITH PRESWK TROUBLEMAKERS AT THE TMEA CONVENTION, OUR HONOR CHOIR.
WE ARE REALLY STARTING NOW TO WE TALK ABOUT GIVING MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO KIDS.
O HONOR CHOIR DOUBLED THIS YEAR.
WE HAD 36, 35 KIDS LAST YEAR IN HONOR CHOIR.
WE HAD 76 THIS YEAR IN HONOR CHOIR.
NEXT YEAR, WE'D LIKE TO HAVE OVER 100.
WE WANT MORE AND MORE KIDS DOING THESE KINDS OF THINGS, AND THE HONOR C CHOIR, BY THE WAY, IS AN AUDITIONED GROUP FROM ALL OF THE FOURTH AND FIFTH GRADERS AT ALL OF OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS THAT MEET TOGETHER.
WE HAD NUMEROUS AND THEY HAD NUMEROUS PERFORMANCES THIS YEAR.
THE LAST THING I JUST WANT TO SAY TO DR. TRAMMELL, THAT I WANT TO SAY TO OUR BOARD OF TRUSTEES, MR. LAMB, IS I AM SO UNBELIEVABLY GRATEFUL FOR THE SUPPORT YOU GIVE OUR FINE ART STUDENTS.
IN A TIME WHERE BUDGETS ARE TIGHT, SOMETIMES, IT'S EASY TO LOOK AND SAY, WHAT'S THE FIRST THING ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK? IN SOME SCHOOL DISTRICTS, SADLY, IT'S THE ARTS, NOT IN LITTLE ELM.
MY EXPERIENCES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IN THE ARTS.
IT'S WHAT I LOVE, AND OUR TEACHERS ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT THEY DO, AND THEY WANT THEIR STUDENTS TO BE THE VERY BEST, AND I APPRECIATE EVERY ONE OF YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND THANK YOU FOR THAT.
>> GOOD EVENING AGAIN. WHAT COULD I SAY ABOUT CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION THAT GOVERNOR ABNE DIDN'T ALREADY SAY IN HIS OPENING SPEECH TO OUR LEGISLATURE THIS SPRING?
[01:30:05]
CTE IS WHERE THE RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD.IT IS PROBABLY HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE MOST VITAL PROGRAMS IN EDUCATION TODAY.
IF WE WERE TO TAKE A LOOK AT OUR GRADUATION NUMBERS WERE APPROXIMATELY WHAT? 94, 95% GRADUATION RATE, DID YOU KNOW IF WE GO BEYOND THAT TO THE NUMBERS AND WE START LOOKING AT THE GRADUATION RATE IN HIGHER EDUCATION? SOMEWHERE BETWEEN PRIVATE EDUCATION AND PUBLIC EDUCATION AT THE COLLEGE LEVEL, YOU HAVE A RANGE OF 24-38% GRADUATION RATE FROM HIGHER ED.
THAT LEAVES ABOUT 60% OF OUR GRADUATES THAT ARE GRADUATING WITHOUT A COLLEGE DEGREE.
THAT'S JUST STATEWIDE HERE IN THE STATE OF TEXAS.
TO BRING IT HOME, THAT'S WHY WE PUSH SO HARD WHEN IT COMES TO CTE AND OUR PROGRAMS. YOU'RE GOING TO SEE SOME INTERESTING NUMBERS HERE TONIGHT.
NOT MUCH HAS CHANGED AS FAR AS THE NUMBER OF PROGRAMS OF STUDY THAT WE'VE OFFERED.
IT'S THE SAME THAT IT WAS LAST YEAR, 18 PROGRAMS RANGING FROM WELDING TO CULINARY TO EDUCATION.
WE HAVEN'T REALLY GROWN THAT JUST YET.
THAT'S BECAUSE OF OUR COMPREHENSIVE LOCAL NEEDS ASSESSMENT THAT'S BROUGHT ON BY OUR PERKINS FIVE REQUIREMENTS, THE FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE PERKINS ACT.
THIS YEAR WAS THE YEAR BETWEEN THE TWO, SO IT'S A SECOND YEAR OF INTEGRATION TO SEE WHERE OUR PROGRAMS ARE SUCCEEDING AND WHERE THEY NEED HELP.
THE NEXT YEAR FOR A CLNA WILL BE THIS UPCOMING FALL OF 2025, AND WE WILL START EXPLORING WHAT PROGRAMS WE NEED TO EITHER SCALE BACK OR PUSH EVEN FURTHER OR MAYBE EVEN INTRODUCE MORE.
I WANT TO ALSO POINT OUT THAT WHEN IT COMES TO CTE, WE DON'T SIT ON OUR LAURELS.
WHEN IT COMES TO MONEY, IF MONEY IS NOT AVAILABLE, WE'RE GOING TO GO OUT AND FIND IT.
THIS YEAR ALONE, THE PERKINS GRANT IS GRANTED, THAT'S A FEDERAL AMOUNT.
BUT I WANT TO BRING YOUR ATTENTION TO THE OTHER 250,000 THAT OUR DEPARTMENT BROUGHT TO THE DISTRICT IN SERVICES AND GOODS TO THE STUDENTS.
THAT'S NOT INCLUDING THE 235,000 THAT'S STILL PENDING REVIEW WITH THE STATE OF TEXAS.
RIGHT NOW WE ARE LOOKING AT POTENTIALLY BRINGING IN ALMOST HALF A MILLION DOLLARS IN SERVICES AND GOODS TO OUR STUDENTS SO THAT THEY CAN BE MORE SUCCESSFUL.
STAFFING. WE HAVEN'T REALLY CHANGED MUCH IN A COUPLE OF YEARS.
AGAIN, THIS PART OF THIS HAS TO DO WITH OUR CLNA.
SOME OF IT HAS TO DO WITH THE GROWTH AND THE INTEREST OF THE STUDENTS.
WE STILL HAVE 28 TEACHERS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL DUE TO SOME LEGISLATIVE CHANGES, WE WENT FROM HAVING SPECIFIC TEACHERS AT EACH OF THE MIDDLE SCHOOLS TO BASICALLY FUNDING THE EQUIVALENT OF ONE UNDER THE P 22 CTE FUNDING.
OF COURSE, MY ROLE AS THE COORDINATOR.
>> THIS THING DOESN'T CLICK VERY WELL, DOES IT? HERE WE GO. HERE'S WHAT I WANT TO BRING TO YOUR ATTENTION.
IN THE PAST, WE'VE ALWAYS LOOKED AT OUR COMPLETER STATUS BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT GETS US OUR CCMR. THIS IS A UNIQUE VIEW WITH SOME OF THE SOFTWARE THAT WE'VE BEEN LOOKING AT.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT IS APPROXIMATELY THIS IS A UNIQUE SNAPSHOT.
THIS IS NOT JUST OUR FRESHMAN THROUGH OUR SENIORS, BUT THIS ALSO INCLUDES OUR EIGHTH GRADERS UPCOMING FRESHMAN.
WE ACTUALLY HAVE FIVE COHORTS IN THIS SNAPSHOT.
WHAT YOU'RE SEEING HERE AND I SAY THAT IS NOT TO BRING TOO MUCH FEAR TO YOUR ATTENTION OF THAT PARTICIPANTS AND NOT CTE, THAT LOOKS ABOUT TO BE ABOUT HALF OF THE HIGH SCHOOL, BUT REALISTICALLY, THAT'S BECAUSE WE'RE LOOKING AT FIVE GRADES AT THIS POINT, NOT JUST FOUR.
IT IS GOING TO BE A LITTLE BIT MORE A SHIFT IN THE NUMBERS, BUT WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO SEE AS WE START GOING THROUGH THIS, THERE WE GO.
AS OF MAY 2ND, WHEN THIS SLIDE WAS CREATED, WE SHOWED 50% OF COLLEGE READY, 83% CAREER READY, 93% ANTICIPATED CCMR FOR THIS YEAR, THAT, OF COURSE, WON'T SHOW UP UNTIL 2027, BECAUSE WE'RE ALWAYS TWO YEARS IN ARREARS WHEN IT COMES TO OUR CCMR DATA.
I'M HAPPY TO REPORT THAT THE ANTICIPATED CCMR,
[01:35:05]
AS OF THIS MORNING, HAS ACTUALLY GROWN TO 95%.THE COLLEGE HAS GROWN TO 73%, AND CAREER HAS TOPPED OUT AT 84.
KEEP IN MIND, THIS IS JUST OUR SENIORS.
THAT MEANS FOUR OUT OF EVERY FIVE STUDENTS THAT WALKED ACROSS THE STAGE SATURDAY HAD SOME CTE CERTIFICATION IN THEIR POSSESSION, 84% OF OUR SENIORS WALKED ACROSS THAT STAGE AND GRADUATED WITH SOME TYPE OF CTE CERTIFICATION.
>> TWO YEARS AGO WAS, I BELIEVE 34%.
IT'S QUITE A BIT. JUST A LITTLE.
LET ME BRING IT. HERE WE GO, SO IBC'S.
AGAIN, I MADE THIS SLIDE ON MAY 2ND.
I SAID 600 PLUS BECAUSE I WAS GUESSING.
I WILL TELL YOU AS OF THIS MORNING, IT'S 662 INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS. I WAS CLOSE.
INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO STUDENTS IN GENERAL.
THIS YEAR ALONE AND JUST TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA TWO YEARS AGO, 359.
AGAIN, WE'VE ALMOST DOUBLED OUR CERTIFICATIONS IN THAT TIME.
A LOT OF THIS IS BECAUSE WE REALIZED WHERE THE NEEDS ARE, WHERE THE PUSH ARE.
WE'VE STARTED HONING IN FINE TUNING SOME OF THESE PROGRAMS AND WHAT THE STUDENTS NEED TO BE MORE SUCCESSFUL.
HERE WE GO. THE CTSOS, THE STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS YOU SAW TONIGHT, CURRENTLY, WE ONLY HAVE FOUR, AND JUST TO REMIND YOU AND THE PUBLIC LISTENING IN THAT THE CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS ARE THE ONLY STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE ACTUALLY PROVIDED FOR IN THE TEXAS ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS UNDER THE CTE COURSES.
THEY ARE NOT EXTRACURRICULAR, THEY ARE CO CURRICULAR.
TO PUT THAT IN PERSPECTIVE OF THE FOUR THAT WE HAVE, ALL FOUR ADVANCED TO STATE, AND AS I SAID, TWO OF THEM ADVANCED TO NATIONALS OR INTERNATIONALS DEPENDING UPON WHICH ONE YOU'RE LOOKING AT.
OUR STUDENTS ARE DOING GREAT THINGS.
OUR GOALS ARE VERY SIMILAR TO WHAT THEY WERE LAST YEAR.
THE ONE THING I TOOK OFF WAS INCREASING OUR CERTIFICATIONS BECAUSE I THINK WE MET THAT BY ALMOST DOUBLING THEM.
ONE OF THE THINGS WE DO NEED TO LOOK AT IS INCREASED RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION IN ALL OF OUR PROGRAMS OF STUDY.
BECAUSE WHILE I'M GOING BACK TO THAT SLIDE THAT WAS SHOWING THE COMPLETERS, THE CONCENTRATORS, AND THAT SORT OF THING, JUST KEEP IN MIND, OUR CCMR STATUS WITH THE STATE OF TEXAS IS INCREASING IN COMPLEXITY.
NEXT YEAR WILL BE THE FINAL YEAR WHERE THE STUDENTS WILL HAVE TO HAVE THAT COMPLETER STATUS, MEANING THEY'VE TAKEN THREE OR MORE CTE CLASSES WITHIN AN ALIGNED PROGRAM OF STUDY FOR FOUR OR MORE CREDITS AND RECEIVED A PASSING INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATION WITHIN THAT ALIGNED FIELD.
THIS YEAR, IT WAS A CONCENTRATOR.
THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS I WILL ALSO CONTRIBUTE BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN GROWING SO OUR CCMR IS HIGHER.
THE LAST THING I'M GOING TO WRAP UP WITH, AS I MENTIONED EARLIER, NEXT YEAR, 2025/2026 IS A COMPREHENSIVE LOCAL NEEDS ASSESSMENT.
THIS IS AN OFFICIAL INVITATION, NOT JUST TO YOU, THE BOARD, BUT THE PARENTS AND BUSINESS PARTNERS LISTENING AND I WILL START BECOMING MORE PROLIFIC IN REACHING OUT TO OUR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, OUR ROTARY CLUB, AS I NORMALLY DO TO SOLICIT INPUT BECAUSE WE NEED MORE DATA.
WE NEED MORE INPUT FROM THE COMMUNITY ON THESE DIFFERENT TYPES OF PROGRAMS TO STUDY.
THE MOST RECENT LABOR MARKET INFORMATION THAT I HAVE ACCESS TO, CURRENTLY NOT ONLY DID A FULL PROGRAM EVALUATION FOR EACH ONE OF OUR PROGRAMS, SAYING THAT OUR AVERAGE MEDIAN WAGE FOR OUR GRADUATES WAS RIGHT AROUND 72,000 WITH AN AVERAGE EMPLOYMENT WITHIN THAT FIELD OF ABOUT 5,600 EMPLOYEES WITHIN THAT DEPARTMENT OF LABOR CODE, BUT IT SHOWS US EXACTLY WHERE OUR SKILLS LIE.
ANYBODY WHO'S INTERESTED, I'LL BE WILLING TO SHARE WITH YOU, BUT IT ALSO TOOK A STRONG LOOK THAT EVERYTHING WITHIN
[01:40:01]
A 60 MINUTE DRIVE OF THE HIGH SCHOOL.IT TOOK INTO EFFECT NOT ONLY THE LABOR CODES AND EVERYTHING THAT WAS BEING EMPLOYED, BUT IT LOOKED AT OVER 890 JOB LISTINGS WITHIN OUR RANGE.
THE DALLAS FORT WORTH, COLLIN COUNTY, DENTON COUNTY, THAT THING AND IT GIVES US A VERY EXTENSIVE LIST OF THOSE SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS THAT EMPLOYERS ARE LOOKING AT.
BUT IF ANYBODY IS INTERESTED, I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU ON OUR COMMITTEE FOR NEXT YEAR.
THAT'S THE LAST I HAVE FOR YOU.
ANY QUESTIONS? VERY GOOD. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
>> DO YOU HAVE A JUST A QUICK REASON FOR RETENTION BEING A PROBLEM FOR CTE?
>> SO SOME OF OUR CHOICES HAVE EFFECTS.
>> LIKE IN WELDING, DO YOU GET TO A POINT WHERE YOU'VE GOT CERTIFICATIONS.
>> WELL, LET ME PUT YOU THIS WAY.
IT'S REALLY DIFFICULT TO TRUST AN EIGHTH GRADER WITH A WELDER.
>> MUCH LESS A SEVENTH GRADER.
>> MUCH LESS TURN THEM LOOSE IN A KITCHEN FULL OF KNIVES FOR CULINARY.
SO WE ARE EXPLORING REVISED CURRICULUM, AND WE'RE ALSO EXPLORING DIFFERENT WAYS OF GETTING OUR CTSOS MORE INVOLVED WITH THE MIDDLE SCHOOLS TO GET THAT RECRUITMENT AT THE LEVEL THAT I WOULD FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE WITH.
I'M ALSO LOOKING AT STARTING A COUPLE OF MORE OF CTSOS FOR NEXT YEAR.
I'VE BEEN TALKING TO SOME OF THE TEACHERS.
FOR EXAMPLE, DECA HAS GROWN SO LARGE.
IT'S GOT ALMOST 200 STUDENTS INVOLVED WITH IT, THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT POTENTIALLY STARTING FBLA, WHICH IS FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA CHAPTER.
I ALSO TALKED TO COACH BISHOP ABOUT POSSIBLY TPSA, WHICH IS TEXAS PUBLIC SAFETY ASSOCIATION, WHICH IS A STUDENT ORGANIZATION SPECIFICALLY FOR LEGAL STUDIES AND LAW ENFORCEMENT SO JUST SOME OF THOSE AREAS.
THAT'S ONE OF THE LITTLE THINGS THAT I'M TRYING TO TWEAK TO GET TO MY LIKING.
THEY'RE GOOD, BUT I'M A WORRY WART SOMETIMES.
>> WELL, I GUESS IN MY MIND AS YOU WERE TALKING IS TALK ABOUT MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS.
THEY'RE NOT SURE WHAT THEY WANT TO DO WHEN THEY GET OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL.
>> DO YOU GIVE THEM SOMETHING BROAD AND THEN IS THEIR RETENTION BECAUSE, WELL, I REALLY WANT TO START SPECIALIZING HERE, SO I'M NOT DOING THIS OR?
>> YEAH. ALSO, AS I JUST FOUND OUT, AS PART OF MY JOB BECOME SO MUCH ABOUT REGULATORY COMPLIANCE WHEN IT COMES TO STUFF THAT TEA LOVES TO INTRODUCE LA MINUTE FOR CTE.
ONE OF THE THINGS I JUST RECENTLY FOUND OUT, I BELIEVE LAST FRIDAY OR LAST THURSDAY WAS THAT STARTING THIS FALL, EVERY SINGLE CTE COURSE IN THE STATE OF TEXAS HAS TO OFFER AN ABBREVIATED VERSION OF EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS, WHICH SOUNDS LIKE AN AUTOMATED NO JOKE, THEY SHOULD, BUT REALISTICALLY WHEN YOU START LOOKING AT THE AMOUNT OF INFORMATION WE HAVE TO PUT IN FOR LEARNING THE CERTIFICATIONS, BECAUSE THESE ARE NOT JUST TESTS WE'RE GIVING STUDENTS.
THESE ARE ACTUAL INDUSTRY LEVEL STUDENT TESTS.
IF YOU LOOK AT THE WELDING CERTIFICATIONS ALONE, WE'RE PUTTING OUT ALMOST A LITTLE OVER 200 CERTIFICATIONS A YEAR WITH STUDENTS AND HALF THE ADULTS WHO TAKE THEM CAN'T EVEN PASS THEM.
ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? VERY GOOD.
>> THANK YOU SO MUCH. OUR NEXT ITEM IN ORDER IS CITIZEN INPUT.
[9. Citizen Input]
DO WE HAVE ANY CITIZEN INPUT, MS. FLORES?JOEY DOWLING? YOU HAVE FIVE MINUTES ON THE CLOCK. GO AHEAD.
>> AS I SAID BEFORE, MY NAME IS JOEY DOWLING.
I LIVE JUST DOWN THE ROAD, AND I'VE BEEN IN LISD FOR ABOUT SIX YEARS AND LEFT WHEN I WAS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL.
I WENT TO BRENT ELEMENTARY, WHILE THEY WERE STILL CALLED THE BOBCATS, AND I WAS ONE OF THE LAST STUDENTS TO EVER
[01:45:02]
ENTER THE COLIN POWELL CENTER RIGHT OVER THERE.I'M HERE TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH HOMESCHOOLERS IN LITTLE ELM AND SOME PROBLEMS THAT THEY FACE MAINLY WITH ACCESS TO SCHOOL SPORTS AND TESTING.
AS A HOMESCHOOLER IN LITTLE ELM, I CURRENTLY CANNOT TAKE THE SAT WITH LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL.
I CANNOT TAKE THE ASVAB, WHICH IS AN APTITUDE TEST FOR THE MILITARY AND I CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN SPORTS.
THE ASVAB, WHICH SOME PEOPLE MAY KNOW, SOME MAY NOT HELP STUDENTS EXPLORE MILITARY CAREERS.
WITHOUT ACCESS THROUGH SCHOOLS, HOMESCHOOLERS ARE PUT AT A GREAT DISADVANTAGE.
HAVING TO TRAVEL GREAT DISTANCES OR MISS OUT ENTIRELY OR MAYBE EVEN WAITING FOR A TESTING DATE.
THE WORST IS HAVING TO TAKE A TEST WITH A RECRUITER.
IMAGINE YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER HAVING AN INTEREST IN SERVING OUR WONDERFUL COUNTRY OF AMERICA AND THEY GO TO TAKE THEIR ASVAB TEST, BUT THEY CAN'T TAKE IT AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, SO THEY GO AND TAKE IT WITH A RECRUITER.
THEY GO IN, THEY TAKE THE TEST, AND THEY GET A GREAT SCORE AND THEN THE RECRUITER PRESSURES THEM INTO SIGNING A CONTRACT, THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND, FOR A JOB THEY HAVE LITTLE TO NO KNOWLEDGE ABOUT, FOR A JOB IN WHICH THEY WILL SPEND THE NEXT FOUR TO SIX YEARS OF THEIR LIFE.
WE JUST WANT THE CHANCE TO TAKE A TEST, NOT TO BE PUSHING FOR SIGNING UP FOR SOMETHING WE'RE NOT EVEN READY FOR YET AND DON'T EVEN KNOW.
THE SAT IS A TEST MANY OF YOU KNOW AND ARE VERY AWARE WITH, AND IT'S THE KEY FOR COLLEGE AND SCHOLARSHIPS.
HOMESCHOOLERS LIVE IN THE SAME DISTRICT, PAY THE SAME TAXES, BUT CAN'T TAKE IT HERE AT LHS.
DENYING ACCESS TO THIS TEST CREATES UNNECESSARY BARRIERS TO US HOMESCHOOL STUDENTS AND SENDS THE MESSAGE THAT OUR EDUCATION PATH IS A LITTLE LESS VALID THAN Y'ALLS.
WE SUPPORT LISD AND MAY EVEN ATTEND GAMES, BUT WE CAN'T JOIN THE SPORTS TEAMS. I WAS ACTUALLY GOING TO A BASEBALL CLINIC IN FRISCO ISD, AND A LIBERTY HIGH SCHOOL COACH APPROACHED ME AND SAID, WOULD YOU LIKE TO PLAY BASEBALL WITH US? I ALMOST TOOK HIM UP ON THAT OFFER EXCEPT I HAD OTHER COMMITMENTS TO THE SCHOOL AS WELL AS WORK AND I COULDN'T PLAY FOR THEIR TEAM.
BUT IMAGINE A LITTLE ELM HOME SCHOOLER PLAYING AT LIBERTY HIGH SCHOOL.
UNDER THE TIM TEBOW LAW, WHICH TEXAS ENACTED A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, I CAN PLAY FOR LAHS, AND I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO IF MY SCHEDULE PERMITTED, AND IF WE ALLOWED THAT, BUT I CAN'T.
SOME ARE A LITTLE SOCIALLY AWKWARD, LIKE ME, BUT OTHERS ARE AS FAMOUS AS THE SERENA AND VENUS WILLIAMS, TIM TEBOW, SIMONE BILES, JOEY LOGANO, AND JASON TAYLOR, JUST TO NAME A FEW.
WHY NOT HELP THE NEXT GRADE ATHLETE COME FROM LITTLE ELM.
LETTING HOMESCHOOLERS TAKE TESTS AND JOIN IN SPORTS DOESN'T TAKE AWAY FROM OUR PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS.
IT JUST MAKES SURE WE ALL HAVE AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY.
OTHER DISTRICTS ALREADY INCLUDE HOMESCHOOLERS JUST LIKE FISD. WHY NOT US? LET'S LET HOMESCHOOLERS TAKE THE SAT AND ASVAB LOCALLY, TRY OUT FOR SPORTS AND TREAT ALL STUDENTS HOME SCHOOL AND PUBLIC AS VALUABLE PARTS OF THIS DISTRICT.
OTHER DISTRICTS ACROSS TEXAS AND THE COUNTRY ARE ALREADY FINDING WAYS TO INCLUDE HOMESCHOOLERS IN TESTING AND SPORTS.
WHY NOT US? LET'S OPEN DOORS, NOT CLOSE THEM.
I THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND FOR YOUR LISTENING, AND I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL NIGHT.
>> OUR NEXT ITEM IN ORDER ARE OUR ACTION ITEMS, MR.
[10. Action Items]
METER, WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR US TONIGHT?>> GOOD MORNING. I'M JUST KIDDING.
SORRY. GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT WATKINS, BOARD OF TRUSTEES, AND MR. LAMB.
WE AS A DISTRICT, BROUGHT IN IDEAL IMPACT TO OUR DISTRICT TO EVALUATE OUR HVAC ELECTRICITY AND GAS CONSUMPTION.
WITH THE STATE OF TEXAS FINANCIAL SITUATION, WE ARE IN NEED OF WHATEVER SAVINGS WE CAN GET.
AFTER AN EXTENSIVE EVALUATION, IDEAL IMPACT CAME BACK AND PRESENTED WHAT KIND OF SAVINGS WE COULD RECEIVE.
TONIGHT, I HAVE WEST MCDANIEL AND GARRETT JONES.
WEST MCDANIEL IS THE FOUNDER AND CEO OF IDEAL IMPACT, AND GARRETT JONES IS A REPRESENTATIVE OF THEM AS WELL, AND THEY'RE HERE TO PRESENT WHAT THE SAVINGS LOOK LIKE FOR OUR DISTRICT. I'M GOING TO LET THEM TALK.
>> THANK YOU. REAL QUICK WHO WE ARE.
WE STARTED 16 YEARS AGO ORIGINALLY TO CREATE A BILLION DOLLARS FOR CHRISTIAN MINISTRY.
WE ENDED UP WITH SOME OF THE TOP ENERGY CONSERVATION PEOPLE IN THE WORLD THAT TOOK 85, 90% PAY CUTS TO BE PART OF THIS.
AS WE GET STARTED, WE REALIZE THERE'S A LOT OF TECHNOLOGIES THAT JUST DON'T EXIST OUT THERE.
[01:50:02]
WE'D GO IN, AND WE'D PAY FOR PROJECTS, SO THE MINISTRY DIDN'T HAVE TO COME UP WITH ANY MONEY.THEY'D PAY US BACK OUT OF SAVINGS PART OF THE SAVINGS NEXT FEW YEARS.
IT'S LIKE PUTTING A VIRTUAL ENDOWMENT IN PLACE WHERE THEY'RE GETTING SOME POSITIVE CASH FLOW THE FIRST THREE OR FOUR YEARS AND A WHOLE BUNCH FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS AFTER THAT.
I DO A LOT OF YOUTH PRISON MINISTRY IN 2015, WE SAID, IF WE COULD DO SCHOOL DISTRICTS THE SAME WAY, EVERY DOLLAR WE PUT BACK IN SCHOOLS IS A BIG DEAL.
AT THIS STAGE, WE'VE DONE OVER 700 MINISTRIES ACROSS TEXAS, 240 SCHOOL DISTRICTS, ALSO OVER 25 UNIVERSITIES.
THE WORK WE'VE DONE THERE WILL PUT OVER A BILLION DOLLARS BACK INTO MINISTRIES AND OVER A BILLION DOLLARS BACK INTO SCHOOL DISTRICTS.
THAT'S OUR WHOLE GOAL IS PUTTING MONEY BACK.
NOW IN THE PROCESS, WE SOLVE LOTS OF PROBLEMS, LOTS OF HUMIDITY PROBLEMS, LOTS OF COMFORT PROBLEMS, INDOOR AIR QUALITY GETS BETTER, EQUIPMENT LASTS LONGER.
I'LL GIVE YOU IT'S ACTUALLY A CHURCH, BUT THERE'S A LOT OF SCHOOLS THAT ARE VERY SIMILAR.
FEW YEARS BACK, WE DID CHRIST CHAPEL BIBLE CHURCH OF FORT WORTH.
WHEN WE WENT IN THERE ORIGINALLY, WE HAD DONE THE AUDIT IN APRIL, WE PRESENTED IN MAY AND THEY SAID, "WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT OUR SANCTUARY? WHAT DO YOU MEAN?" THEY SAID, "WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH TONS OF COOLING." I SAID, "YOUR PROBLEM IS HUMIDITY." THEY SAID, "NO. WE'VE HAD ALL THE EXPERTS OUT, WE NEED TO SPEND 100 GRAND.
THEY WERE GOING TO ADD A CHILLER AND ANOMER HEALING UNITS." I SAID, "YOU'RE SPENDING ABOUT 80% OF YOUR TONS ON HUMIDITY.
THE LEAVES 20% FOR COOLING." THEY WERE ACTUALLY EVEN IN APRIL, HAVING TO SUBCOOL FIRST SERVICE TO LOW 60S TO BE BELOW 80 BY THE END OF THE THIRD SERVICE.
NOBODY WAS HAPPY EXCEPT MIDDLE SERVICE.
THEY SAID, "NO, WE'RE GOING TO GO AHEAD AND SPEND 100 GRAND." I SAID, "GIVE ME SIX WEEKS I CAN FIX THIS WITHOUT YOU SPENDING." THEY SAID, "WELL, YOU'RE A CLASS A MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR.
WHY DON'T WE SPEND 100 GRAND WITH YOU?" I SAID, "GIVE ME SIX WEEKS, I WANT YOU TO KEEP THE HUNDRED GRAND.
I DON'T WANT YOU TO GIVE IT TO ME." I ALWAYS THINK I'M ARGUING THE WRONG SIDE OF THE TABLE WHEN I SAY STUFF LIKE THAT.
ANYWAY, WE STARTED LATE MAY, SIX WEEKS, PUTS OF MID JULY, MUCH HOTTER FORT WORTH TEXAS IS IN JULY THAN IT WAS IN APRIL.
WE COULD HOLD TEMPERATURE THROUGH ALL THREE SERVICES.
THEY STILL HAD THEIR HUNDRED GRAND.
WE TOOK KWH AT THE METER FROM THE JULY BEFORE 319,000-167,000 KWH.
BY AUGUST, WE'VE TAKEN IT DOWN TO 102,000 AND COURSE SENT SOMEONE OUT TO CHECK THE METERS BECAUSE THEY'RE SURE SOMEBODY MONKEY WITH THEM, BUT IF YOU PULL HUMIDITY DOWN, IT'S WAY EASIER TO COOL DRIER THAN WEATHER AIR.
EQUIPMENT LASTS LONGER, COMPRESSOR FAILURES GO DOWN.
I CAN TELL YOU ABOUT A LOT OF THESE, BUT WE'LL GO AHEAD AND SKIP FORWARD.
OUR GOAL AT THIS STAGE, WE DID THE BILLION FOR CHRISTIAN MINISTRY, NOW IT'S $10 BILLION FOR EDUCATION MINISTRY.
THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF A FEW SCHOOL DISTRICTS, BUT MOST OF THE BIG ENERGY CONSERVATION COMPANIES SAY THE BEST YOU CAN GET ON TOTAL ENERGY USE IS ABOUT 45,000 BTU OF SQUARE FOOT.
BOTH LOUISE AND FREER HAD DONE MULTIPLE MILLION DOLLAR PROJECTS WHERE THEY REPLACED AIR HANDLING UNITS AND LIGHTS AND ROOFS AND CHILLERS AND BOILERS AND CONTROLS.
THEY GOT THEM DOWN TO 44.8 THOUSAND AT LOUISE AND 48.5 AT FREER.
WE CAME IN WITH OUR TECHNOLOGY AND WE TOOK THEM DOWN TO THE 20S.
CALHOUN COUNTY IS DOWN ON THE GULF COAST BETWEEN CORPUS AND HOUSTON.
THE PRESIDENT SCHOOL BOARD HAS A PHD IN ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING, AND THEY HAD DONE EVERYTHING THEY COULD DO TO PULL ENERGY DOWN AND WE SAID WE'D LIKE TO LOOK AT THEIRS, THEY SAID, WELL, THEY LOOK AT OURS, THEY WALK AWAY BECAUSE NOBODY GET BELOW 36.
KENNEDALE UP THERE, WE TOOK FROM 32-20.
WHAT WE'VE DONE, BEEN THROUGH ALL YOUR BILLS, LOOKED AT ALL THE BUILDINGS, LOOKED AT ALL THE CONTROLS, EVERYTHING.
RIGHT NOW, YOU'LL ARE AT 54,000 BTUS A SQUARE FOOT, WHICH IS GOOD CONSIDERING WHERE YOU ARE.
YOU'RE SITTING ON A POTENTIAL IN THE MIDDLE OF A LAKE, WHICH OBVIOUSLY HUMIDITY IS A PROBLEM.
YOU SO WITH THE SYSTEMS YOU HAVE, AND OUR GOAL WOULD BE TO TAKE YOU TO 29.
THERE. WE LOOK AT SAVINGS, WE ALWAYS USE TWO NUMBERS.
BASIC IS ABOUT A B MINUS LEVEL ACHIEVEMENT COMMITTED IS AN A MINUS.
THE GOAL IS BEAT COMMITTED TO SAVE MORE THAN $963,000 A YEAR.
[01:55:02]
I'M SURE YOU ALL WOULD WAY RATHER SEE THAT MONEY GO BACK IN THE DISTRICT THAN TO THE ELECTRIC COMPANY AND THE GAS COMPANY.THE 15 YEAR NET IS SAME 7% INFLATION.
WE THINK WE CAN PUT $21 MILLION BACK INTO LITTLE ELM ISD THAT WOULD HAVE GONE TO THE ELECTRIC AND GAS COMPANY THAT YOU CAN PUT INTO PROGRAMS HERE.
YOU ARE DOING A LOT OF AMAZING STUFF.
I GOT TO SEE A LOT OF AWARDS TONIGHT AND SOME GREAT REPORTS, BUT I'M SURE WITH $21 MILLION, YOU COULD DO MORE.
MOST DISTRICTS DO WE STARTED MINISTRIES A LONG TIME AGO, WE SAID, MOST DON'T HAVE ANY EXTRA MONEY, WE CAN COVER IT OURSELVES.
WE CAME UP WITH WHAT WE CALL 80,20.
BASICALLY HERE, WITH SCHOOL DISTRICTS, WE START DOING THE SAME WHERE THEY PAY 80% OF THEIR SAVINGS TO WE'RE PAID BACK AND THEY KEEP ALL THE REST.
IT COMMITTED SAVINGS HAD BEEN 963,000 A YEAR.
YOU PAY 80% OF WHATEVER YOU SAVE.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO COME UP WITH ANY MONEY UPFRONT.
YOU PAY 80% OF WHATEVER YOU SAVE UNTIL WE'RE PAID BACK, WHICH IS $2.9 MILLION.
YOU KEEP 20% OF THE SAVINGS, BUT YOU KEEP ALL THE ADDITIONAL SAVINGS.
ALL THE SAVINGS YOU GET FROM HUMIDITY IMPROVEMENTS, TRYING TO GET THE NEXT ONE TO GO UP THERE.
ALL THE SAVINGS YOU GET FROM EQUIPMENT LASTING LONGER, YOU PULL ENERGY DOWN THAT MUCH, EVERY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT LASTS LONGER.
MOST COMPRESSORS FAIL IN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER IN SCHOOL DISTRICTS.
BUT AS YOU PULL THE RUN TIME DOWN AS MUCH AS WE DO, WHAT THAT MEANS IS UNITS WILL LAST A LOT OF TIMES AS MANY AS FIVE YEARS LONGER.
THAT'S JUST GRAVY [INAUDIBLE].
THERE'S OTHER SAVINGS WE DO THAT WE WON'T COUNT ALSO.
FOR INSTANCE, THERE'S PROPANE SAVINGS HERE AND WE DON'T TRACK PROPANE SAVINGS.
THAT'S JUST GRAVY. YOU GET ALL THAT.
THERE WERE THREE BUILDINGS, ACTUALLY THE STADIUM.
WHERE THERE'S SOME REALLY GREAT THINGS WE CAN DO, BUT HVAC IS A SMALL PERCENTAGE OF IT.
AGAIN, WE WON'T TRACK THAT SAVINGS.
YOU KEEP ALL OF IT. CHAVEZ ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, SAME THING.
WE'RE NOT GOING TO TRACK THE SAVINGS, YOU'LL KEEP ALL OF IT AND AX HERE ON THE MIDDLE SCHOOL.
WE'LL DO THOSE BUILDINGS, BUT WE JUST DON'T TRACK SAVINGS.
YOU'LL STILL GET ALL THE IMPROVEMENTS THERE.
THE DANCE TO PUT $21 MILLION A YEAR BACK PLUS ALL THAT ADDITIONAL STUFF.
FIRST STATE MR. RHETORICAL, WE'VE DONE THOUSANDS OF BUILDINGS ACROSS TEXAS OBVIOUSLY, AND OUR ENERGY FELLOWS, SOME OF THE TOP PEOPLE IN THE WORLD HAVE DONE MANY THOUSANDS ACROSS THE WORLD.
BIGGEST EVER DID WAS ROCKEFELLER CENTER, WHICH IS ACTUALLY NOT JUST A CENTRAL TOWER, IT ACTUALLY COVERS DANE CITY BLOCKS IN NEW YORK.
AVERAGE TODAY THERE'S 250,000 PEOPLE IN THOSE BUILDINGS.
BUT HERE WE'LL START OUT ON CONTROL WISE AND REPLACING THE CONTROLS AND PUTTING IN A GREAT SYSTEM THAT'S NON-PROPRIETARY THAT COMES WITH FIVE YEARS PARTS WARRANTY.
ONE OF THE THINGS WE DO WITH EVERY CLIENT, WE LEAVE YOU SOME SPARE.
IF ONE GOES OUT, YOUR GUY CAN WALK OVER AND CHANGE IT OUT IN 15 MINUTES RATHER THAN WAITING FOR SOMEBODY TO DRIVE HERE, BECAUSE IF IT'S MY PLUS ROOM, I'D RATHER HAVE IT BACK UP AND RUN IT QUICKLY.
HAD DINNER WITH THE HEAD OF THE BIGGEST CONTROLS COMPANY THE WORLD A WHILE BACK AND HE WAS TRYING TO GIVE ME SOME ADS.
HE SAID, "WES," HE SAID, "YOUR PROBLEM IS YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF SERVICE REVENUE." HE SAID THEY MAKE OVER HALF THEIR PROFIT ON SERVICE.
WE'VE GOT OVER 120 MILLION SQUARE FEET ACROSS TEXAS, 1,000 CLIENTS, AND OUR TOTAL ANNUAL SERVICE CALL REVENUE RUNS ABOUT $14,000 A YEAR, LESS THAN $14 A CLIENT BECAUSE AGAIN, EVERYTHING I CAN SAVE YOU ALL THERE, IT DOESN'T SHOW MY NUMBERS, BUT IT'S REAL MONEY BACK TO YOUR DISTRICT AND IT'S HEADACHE SAVINGS.
WE DO A LOT TO PULL DOWN RELATIVE HUMIDITY, WHICH DOES A LOT TO IMPROVE INDOOR AIR QUALITY TOO.
[LAUGHTER] ANYWAY, LET ME BACK UP JUST A LITTLE BIT IF I CAN.
I'LL LEAVE TWO OR THREE THINGS UP THERE.
BUT WE DO A LOT OF MONITORING TRACKING THE RESULTS BECAUSE WE WANT TO KNOW HOW FAST EACH ROOM CHANGES, HOW FAST DOES IT COOL DOWN 80 DEGREE DAY OR 85 OR 90 OR 95 OR 100.
OF COURSE, EVERY ROOM IS DIFFERENT, ROOM FACE EAST, TOTALLY DIFFERENT, ONE FACE AND WEST, HOW FAST DOES IT WARM UP AS THE TEMPERATURE GOES DOWN? WE MAKE IMPROVEMENTS TO EVERY PIECE OF HVAC EQUIPMENT, BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T OPTIMIZE THE EQUIPMENT, YOU CAN DO ALL YOU WANT WITH TECHNOLOGY, BUT IT'S LIKE TUNING UP A RACE CAR AND DON'T PUT AIR IN THE TIRES.
WE TALKED ABOUT CONTROLS ALREADY, ZONING.
EVERYWHERE WE GO HAS ZONING PROBLEMS SOMEWHERE AND WE SOLVE A LOT OF THOSE.
WE DO FULL WEATHERIZATION OF ALL THE BUILDINGS BECAUSE IF AIR IS LEAKING IN FROM THE OUTSIDE, IT'S BRINGING IN HOT AIR AND COLD AIR,
[02:00:02]
HUMIDITY, POLLENS, EVERYTHING ELSE.IN CAMPUS OPTIMIZER IS A BIG DEAL.
WE'VE INVENTED OVER 300 NEW TECHNOLOGIES.
CAMPUS OPTIMIZERS PATENTED, AND IT WOULD BE ON ALL 1,246 PIECES OF EQUIPMENT.
RIGHT NOW, YOU'VE GOT LIKE I SAID, 01,246 PIECES OF EQUIPMENT.
WE DIDN'T COUNT THE ROOMS. THAT'S AN ESTIMATE, BUT YOU HAVE MORE ROOMS AND EQUIPMENT.
EVENTS A TEACHER IN A CLASSROOM OR GAME OR PRACTICE.
I'M SURE THERE'S MORE THAN 1,600.
RIGHT NOW, YOUR MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT IS TRYING TO GO THROUGH AND MANAGE ALL THOSE AND MANAGE ALL THE SCHEDULES AND AS THEY CHANGE.
SAME TIME, REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF ELECTRICITY USE.
I THINK WE'RE GOING TO MAKE A RUN IN A MINUTE.
OPTIMIZE THE ANNUAL LOAD FACTOR, REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF NATURAL GAS USE, REDUCE THE BUILD KWH.
THE TOP 15 MINUTES OF THE YEAR AND THE TOP 15 MINUTES A MONTH IS PART OF YOUR BILL ALSO.
TO DO IT WELL, YOU NEED TO KNOW THE RAMP TIMES OF EVERY ROOM AND EVERY WEATHER PATTERN.
THERE'S NOBODY THAT CAN REMEMBER THAT.
THEN I'VE LIVED IN TEXAS ALL MY LIFE ALMOST TOTALLY IN THE METROPLEX HERE AND THE WEATHER IS NUTS.
WE COULD BE 20 DEGREES ONE MORNING, 82 AFTERNOONS LATER.
WE HAVE THESE FRONTS COME THROUGH.
EVERY TIME THE WEATHER PATTERN CHANGES, IDEALLY, YOU'RE GOING THROUGH AND OPTIMIZING ALL THE EQUIPMENT, ALL THE SYSTEMS FOR THAT.
NOBODY HAS ENOUGH MAINTENANCE PEOPLE TO DO ALL THAT.
EVEN IF THEY WERE MATH GENIUSES, TOO MANY VARIABLES.
YOU GOT 14 METERS, YOU GOT RATE SCHEDULES THAT CHANGE AND MOVE ALL THE TIME.
BUT CAMPUS OPTIMIZER EVERY NIGHT PULLS IN THE LATEST SCHEDULE FROM EVERY BUILDING IN THE DISTRICT.
DOESN'T MATTER IT'S A WEEKEND, CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS, SUMMER, WINTER, WHATEVER.
THEN IT PULLS IN THE NEXT SEVEN DAY WEATHER FORECAST WITH ALL THE HIGHS AND THE LOWS.
IT RUNS A 20 LEVEL MATHEMATICAL MATRIX FOR EVERY ROOM AND EVERY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT AND EVERY METER IN EVERY BUILDING, AND THEN IT DOWNLOADS ALL THE CHANGES THAT NEED TO BE MADE INTO ALL THE UNITS.
THEN IT WILL DO IT AGAIN THE SAME THING THE NEXT NIGHT.
NOW IF YOU HAVE A CHANGE DURING THE DAY, WHICH THAT HAPPENS, YOU CAN DO THREE MOUSE CLICKS AND DO THE SAME THING.
WE ALSO EVERY CONTROLLER WE PUT IN HAS AN LCD READOUT.
IF A TEACHER COMES IN AFTER HOURS AND THEY HADN'T TOLD ANYBODY, THEY CAN STILL WALK UP TO IT AND CHANGE THEIR TEMPERATURE TO COMFORTABLE.
I'VE SAT IN TOO MANY BOARD MEETINGS IN MY LIFE WHERE ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SYSTEM TIED OUT AND IT'S HOT AND NOBODY'S HAPPY.
ANYWAY, WE WERE WATCHING CAPEL ISD LAST JULY.
WE HAD A NIGHT THERE AND OF COURSE, THERE'S ALMOST NOTHING GOING ON IN JULY.
THE BUILDINGS ARE MOSTLY EMPTY, BUT WE'RE MANAGING HUMIDITY THROUGH THE SUMMERS TOO, BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO END UP AT A MOLD OR MILDEW SITUATION.
EVEN IN JULY, THE SYSTEM MADE OVER 1,300 CHANGES IN 3 MINUTES AT NIGHT, JUST MANAGING HUMIDITY.
ANYWAY, THE CONTRACTS REAL SIMPLE.
BASICALLY BETWEEN US AND OUR BANK, WE COVER ALL THE COSTS, SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR ANYTHING.
BUT ALSO HIT TWO POINTS ON THIS ONE.
NO DISTRICT HAS EVERY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT, EVERY ROOM DOCUMENTED.
MANY PLACES THEY'LL SAY, WELL, WE GOT ONE GUY NAMED FRED, AND FRED'S HERE, NOBODY KNOWS WHERE IT IS.
BUT ANOTHER THING WE'D LOVE TO DO IS JUST WE DON'T DO HOMES, BUT MY HOMES 2,500 SQUARE FEET.
MY ELECTRIC BILL SEVEN MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR IS 60 SOMETHING DOLLAR OR LESS.
MOST PEOPLE ARE PAYING MORE THAN 60 BUCKS A MONTH FOR ELECTRICITY.
WE HAVE GRANDKIDS OVER THERE ALL THE TIME.
WE KEEP OUR HOUSE COMFORTABLE, WE KEEP IT AT 72 DEGREES AND COOL IT DOWN A LITTLE BIT AT NIGHT.
STILL ONE THING WE'D LOVE TO DO IS JUST GO TO AN END SERVICE MEETING OR A COMMUNITY NIGHT AND JUST TALK TO PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY ABOUT WHAT YOU CAN DO IN YOUR HOMES TO PULL DOWN ELECTRIC COSTS.
YOU CAN DO IT REALLY ECONOMICALLY.
I SAID A STATE SWIM MAT A FEW YEARS BACK AND MY DAUGHTER WAS A STATE SWIMMER AND I ENDED UP TALKING TO A TEACHER NEXT TO ME THAT I DIDN'T KNOW AND SHE SAID, THE NINA'S COMPANY CAME INTO THEIR SCHOOL AND TOLD THEM WHAT THEY COULD DO WITH THEIR HOMES AND SHE JUST BUBBLING AWAY OF IT, ALL THE THINGS SHE DID.
I SAID, SHE SAID THEY'RE CALLED IDEAL IMPACT.
I JUMPED ABOUT THIS HIGH IN HER EYES ALL OF A SUDDEN.
BUT WE'RE TRYING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
IF WE CAN PUT MONEY BACK IN THE COMMUNITY AND PUT MONEY BACK IN TEACHERS AND OTHERS, AGAIN, THAT'S JUST A HELP.
AGAIN, THE CONTRACTS REAL SIMPLE.
[02:05:02]
WE COVER ALL THE COSTS.EACH MONTH, WE GET YOUR BILLS ONLINE, BUT IF FOR SOME REASON WE COULDN'T, YOU'D SEND THEM TO US.
THEN WE ADJUST FOR WEATHER, BUT YOU CAN DO THAT AS EASY AS WE CAN, AND JUST PLUG IN NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DATA, AND THEN WE ALWAYS CALCULATE YOUR SAVINGS ON YOUR ACTUAL RATES BECAUSE CO-SERVE MOVES THEM AROUND FROM TIME TO TIME OBVIOUSLY.
THEN YOU PAY 80% OF THE SAVINGS UNTIL IT'S PAID BACK AND OUR BANK MAKES US PUT A MINIMUM QUARTERLY PAYMENT IN THE AGREEMENT, BUT IN THE AGREEMENT, WE ALSO PUT IN THERE.
IF YOUR SAVINGS DOESN'T COVER THAT MINIMUM QUARTERLY PAYMENT, WE'LL WRITE YOU A CHECK FOR THE DIFFERENCE.
>> REAL QUICK EXAMPLES AND I'M DONE.
WHEN I STARTED THIS AS VICE CHAIRMAN OF DEACONS AT CHURCH AT THE CROSS IN GRAPEVINE, AND MY PASTOR SAID, CAN YOU DO OUR CHURCH? I SAID, WELL, SURE. HE SAID, WELL, I DIDN'T KNOW IF YOU DO ANYTHING THIS LITTLE.
HE SAID, I KNOW YOUR BACKGROUND.
I SAID, OUR GOAL IS GIVING BACK.
HE SAID, THERE'S PROBABLY NO SAVINGS.
OUR WHOLE CAMPUS IS NINE YEARS OLD, GREAT DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS.
WHEN WE SAID 25% BASIC SAVINGS, HE THOUGHT THAT WAS OPTIMISTIC, AND HE THOUGHT 34% COMMITTED WAS A DREAM.
HE SAID, WELL, BASIC, THAT'S ABOUT TWO GRAND A MONTH.
HOW LONG IS IT GOING TO TAKE YOU TO GET THERE? WE JUST STARTED.
WE WERE FOUR PEOPLE BACK THEN.
WE'RE 160 PEOPLE NOW, BUT WE WERE FOUR BACK THEN.
I SAID, GIVE US ABOUT FIVE MONTHS.
WHAT ABOUT COMMITTED? THAT'S ABOUT 2,700 A MONTH? I SAID, GIVE US A LITTLE LONGER.
YOU CAN SEE HERE BY MONTH 5, WE BROKE 2,000 A MONTH, AND BY MONTH 6, WE WERE OVER 50% SAVINGS.
THAT'S A BIG DEAL TO OUR CHURCH.
I HAD LUNCH WITH THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE A COUPLE OF YEARS BACK AND HE SAID, WE'RE SAVING THEM 60% A YEAR OFF OF WHAT WE DID.
HE SAID, COMPRESSOR FAILURES WENT DOWN, OTHER PROBLEMS WENT DOWN.
THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE SPEND 35 GRAND ON SOME IMPROVEMENTS, THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO AFTER WE SOLVED THE PROBLEMS. WHITE'S CHAPEL IS THE BIGGEST METHODIST CHURCH IN TEXAS.
ANYWAY, YOU CAN SEE BY MONTH 7, 8, AND 9, IT'S AVERAGING ABOUT 10,000 A MONTH IN SAVINGS.
FUMC RICHARDSON THERE, WAS ONLY FIVE YEARS OLD AND WHEN WE DID IT, ONE OF THE TRUSTEES SAID, LOOK, I'VE BUILT BIG BUILDINGS IN DALLAS.
WE'VE BUILT THE MOST EFFICIENT BUILDING YOU CAN BUILD.
YOU CAN'T SAVE 40 SOMETHING PERCENT HERE.
THEN HE TURNED TO THOSE TRUSTEES.
HE SAID, THEY'RE PAYING FOR IT ALL.
WE JUST PAY THEM PART OF WHAT WE SAVE UNTIL THEY'RE PAID BACK.
HE SAID, BUT THERE'S NO WAY THEY'RE GOING TO GET 47% SAVINGS, AND WE DID.
ONCOR AND ATMA SENT SOMEBODY OUT TO CHECK THEIR METERS.
THEN SWEENY HERE HAD JUST DONE A MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR PROJECT A FEW YEARS BEFORE.
WHEN WE SAID 21%, THEY THOUGHT THAT SOUNDED CRAZY.
WE'RE IN THE 30S BY MONTHS 6 AND 7.
STOCKDALE HERE, THEY'VE BEEN TOLD BY EVERYBODY THEY NEED TO SPEND TWO MILLION DOLLARS AND PLACE ALL THE UNITS ON A HIGH SCHOOL.
WE LOOKED AT IT AND SAID, YOU DON'T NEED TO.
AFTER WE PUT THESE IMPROVEMENTS ON, YOU'VE GOT A GOOD 5-10 YEARS LIFE ON THOSE, AND THEY DIDN'T NEED TO.
FRANKLIN HERE, GET THAT, DOWN BETWEEN COLLEGE STATION AND HOUSTON.
THEY WERE ACTUALLY PAYING TRAIN 100,000 A YEAR TO KEEP THEM OPTIMIZED AND YOU CAN SEE BY MONTH 10, 11, AND 12, WE'RE OVER 50% SAVINGS, WHICH IS A LOT OF MONEY BACK TO FRANKLIN ISD.
ANYWAY, BACK TO YOUR NUMBERS, AND I'M DONE.
WHAT QUESTIONS DO YOU HAVE? [NOISE] MAYBE BACK TO YOUR NUMBERS.
>> I WANT TO TELL YOU ALL, THEY CAME IN, SPENT TWO WEEKS EVALUATING ALL OF OUR BUILDINGS, LOOKING AT EVERY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT.
WHEN THEY CAME BACK, THAT'S WHAT THEY CAME BACK WITH THAT SAVINGS.
HE DIDN'T THINK IT WAS GOING TO BE THAT HIGH WHEN HE FIRST TALKED TO US AND AFTER EVALUATING IT, HE WAS ABLE TO GIVE US THOSE NUMBERS.
>> I HAVE A QUESTION AROUND IMPLEMENTATION OF YOUR TECHNOLOGY.
DO YOU PLACE TECHNOLOGY INSIDE OF THE SYSTEMS? HOW DOES THAT ALL WORK?
>> THERE'S A LOT OF TECHNOLOGY.
SOME OF IT WE'RE PUTTING IN THE SYSTEM ITSELF, SOME OF IT IN THE CONTROLS.
>> HOLD ON JUST ONE SECOND. WE NEED TO MAKE A MOTION REAL QUICK.
IS THERE A MOTION? MR. BEBER, IS THERE A SECOND?
>> MR. ENGLISH. NOW, ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS?
>> SORRY. [LAUGHTER] THE TECHNOLOGY IS IN SEVERAL PLACES.
SOME ACTUALLY IS IN THE UNITS ITSELF AND THE CONTROLLERS, BUT IT'S SET UP WHERE IF YOU DO HAVE A UNIT GO OUT, IT'S REALLY EASY FOR THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR JUST DISCONNECT IT AND RECONNECT IT.
IF THEY PUT IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TYPE OF UNIT, THEN WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING.
THEN PART OF IT IS ACTUALLY IN THE CAMPUS OPTIMIZER, WHICH ACTUALLY SITS IN THE CLOUD.
WE USE THREE CLOUD-BASED SPOTS SO WE GET VERY GOOD UPTIME ON IT, AND THAT COMMUNICATES WITH IT EVERY DAY.
[02:10:02]
THEN THE COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN ALL THE CONTROLLERS, IT'S ACTUALLY ON A MESH NETWORK BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE TO BE ON THE SCHOOL WI-FI.I THINK IF YOU'RE ON THE SCHOOL WI-FI, IT'S A POTENTIAL SECURITY ISSUE, SO WE KEEP IT ON A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT NETWORK.
>> MY QUESTION CONCERNS, WE ARE ADDING A NEW CAMPUS NEXT YEAR, WILL WE BE ABLE TO ADD THAT CAMPUS AS SOON AS IT'S OPENED?
>> YES. A GOOD EXAMPLE THERE, WHEN WE DID GODLEY ISD, THEY WERE BUILDING THE NEW HIGH SCHOOL AND IT WAS ACTUALLY AT THE SLAB STAGE, SO IT WAS PRETTY FAR ALONG ALREADY.
WE DON'T DO NEW CONSTRUCTION, BUT WE ALWAYS WANT TO LOOK AT PLANS AND SPECS IF YOU'RE DOING THEM BECAUSE IF THEY'RE BUILT EFFICIENT, THEN YOU DON'T NEED TO PAY US TO MODIFY THEM, WHICH IS ALWAYS OUR GOAL.
I KNOW THE GOAL SOUNDS BACKWARDS, BUT OUR GOAL IS GIVING BACK.
GODLEY, LIKE I SAID, THEY WERE AT THE SLAB STAGE, AND THEY HAD US TAKE A LOOK AT IT.
THEY SAID, WE DON'T HAVE ANY MORE MONEY TO SPEND.
WE SAID THAT'S OKAY AND SAID, IF YOU'LL MAKE THESE CHANGES, YOU'LL BE MORE EFFICIENT GOING FORWARD.
YOU'LL HAVE LESS MAINTENANCE ISSUES.
THEY MADE THEM AND THE HIGH SCHOOL HAD 177 PIECES OF HVAC EQUIPMENT.
THEY SAID, WHAT WOULD IT TAKE NOW TO EXPAND CAMPUS OPTIMIZER TO IT? WE SAID, WELL, NUMBER 1, YOU COULD DO IT YOURSELF.
WE GAVE YOU ALL THE TECHNOLOGY IF YOU WANT TO DO IT YOURSELF.
THEY SAID, WHAT IF WE PAID YOU TO DO IT? WE SAID, BECAUSE YOU PUT EVERYTHING IN RIGHT, WE COULD EXPAND IT TO ALL 177 PIECES OF EQUIPMENT FOR $15,000.
THEY WANTED TO MAKE SURE THEY HEARD US RIGHT.
WE SAID, YEAH, OUR GOAL IS GIVING BACK.
WE ALWAYS LOVE TO LOOK AT AND I THINK THAT'S ONE OF THE BIG BENEFITS WE GIVE IS WHEN PEOPLE ARE BUILDING NEW BUILDINGS, LET'S LOOK AT IT FIRST.
MANY TIMES WE CAN MAKE IT MORE COMFORTABLE, WE CAN MAKE IT MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT, LESS MAINTENANCE GOING FORWARD, AND AT THE SAME TIME, SAVE YOU ON UPFRONT COST.
THAT'S ALWAYS OUR GOAL, IS HIT ALL OF THOSE.
WITH ANY OF OUR CLIENTS, WE DON'T CHARGE FOR THAT.
ANOTHER THING WE DID BACK IN FEBRUARY 2021, YOU COULD SEE THE BIG FREEZE COMING.
WE GOT OUR ENERGY FELLOWS TOGETHER AND SAID, WHAT CAN WE DO TO REDUCE PIPE BURSTS? ANYWAY, WE DEVELOPED A NEW TECHNOLOGY.
WE CALLED EVERY CLIENT THAT HAD CAMPUS OPTIMIZER AND SAID, WE'LL PUT IT IN FOR FREE IF YOU WANT US TO.
EVERYBODY SAID, YES, THEY LIKE THE PRICE.
WE PUT IT IN AND YOU CAN NEVER MEASURE HOW MANY PIPES DIDN'T BURST.
BUT I WAS AT A SCHOOL BOARD MEETING AT BRIDGE CITY ISD, THEIR SUPERINTENDENT HAD BEEN IN NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS WHEN THAT WENT DOWN.
HE TOLD THE BOARD, HE SAID, EVERY DISTRICT AROUND ME HAD PIPES BURST IN THAT BIG FREEZE.
HE SAID, THE ONLY ONE WE HAD WAS A CONCESSION STAND IN THE FOOTBALL STADIUM WHERE IDEAL IMPACT WASN'T.
AGAIN, THAT DOESN'T SHOW UP ON OUR NUMBERS, BUT IT'S A BIG DEAL, WHETHER YOU HAVE INSURANCE OR NOT.
IT'S A NIGHTMARE WHEN YOU HAVE PIPES BURST.
>> CAN I ADD THIS. BY WHAT HE STATED IN THE NUMBERS THAT ARE ON THERE, AND AGAIN, THEY DON'T KNOW THAT. IT'S A PREDICTION.
BUT IT'LL TAKE US ABOUT 3 1/2-4 YEARS TO PAY THIS OFF, AND THEN THE NEXT 11-15 YEARS, WHATEVER, HOWEVER LONG, THE REST OF THAT IS GOING TO BE THE SAVINGS THAT WE'LL GET EVERY YEAR.
>> $21 MILLION THAT WE CAN SAVE OVER THE NEXT 13 YEARS.
AGAIN, IF WE WERE NOT TO SAVE ANY MONEY, WE DON'T OWE THEM ANYTHING AT THAT TIME.
ONCE WE START SAVING MONEY IS WHEN WE START PAYING 80% SAVINGS. IT'S HOW IT WORKS.
>> I THINK, FROM MY PERSPECTIVE, MIKE, WE DID SOMETHING RECENTLY WITH SIEMENS.
HELP ME UNDERSTAND HOW THIS IS DIFFERENT FROM WHAT WE WERE DOING WITH SIEMENS.
>> I COULDN'T QUITE UNDERSTAND THAT.
>> SIEMENS. WE HAD SIEMENS COME IN AND THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE TALKING ABOUT ALL OF OUR HVAC UNITS AND DID ALL OF THE STUFF.
I'M TRYING TO UNDERSTAND, WE'VE DONE ALL OF THAT, SPENT THAT MONEY, THEY TOLD US THEY WERE GOING TO PRODUCE SAME THING, PRODUCE X AMOUNT OF SAVINGS.
I UNDERSTAND THE HUMIDITY, BUT OUTSIDE OF HUMIDITY, IS THERE SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAT YOU'RE GOING TO BE DOING FOR US VERSUS WHAT SIEMENS WAS DOING?
>> YES. WE ACTUALLY HAVE OVER 300 NEW TECHNOLOGIES THAT ONLY WE HAVE, THAT NOBODY ELSE DOES.
CAMPUS OPTIMIZER, NOBODY HAS ANYTHING LIKE THAT AT ALL.
IT'S ACTUALLY OPTIMIZING EVERY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT TO THE RATES YOU ACTUALLY HAVE.
SIEMENS DOESN'T HAVE A TRAIN, JOHNSON, ANY OF THEM.
THEY'RE TYPICALLY GOING IN LOOKING AT REPLACING UNITS AND REALLY FOCUSING ON THAT AND PUTTING IN JUST NEW CONTROLS.
IF THEY WERE DOING SOMETHING LIKE THIS, THEY'D DO A MUCH HIGHER COST PROJECT, AND THEY'D GET MUCH LESS SAVINGS.
THEN THEY STILL WOULDN'T HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY THAT WE PUT IN.
>> I DO HAVE A QUESTION, MR. MEADOR FOR YOU.
HAVE YOU HAD A CHANCE TO INTERVIEW ANY OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS THAT MAY BE USING THIS AND WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS?
[02:15:02]
THERE'S MIXED REVIEWS OUT ON THE WEBSITE.I LIKE TO HEAR YOUR THOUGHTS ON.
>> ACTUALLY, KENNEDALE IS ONE OF THE NAMES THAT WAS ON THERE. I CALLED THEM.
I WAS TRYING TO GET THE OPERATIONS DIRECTOR, SAME POSITION THAT I'M IN.
I ENDED UP TALKING TO THEIR ASSISTANT AND SHE IS ACTUALLY OVER THE WHOLE SYSTEM.
SHE WENT ON AND ON AND I WAS I WAS LIKE, REALLY, AND SHE TOLD ME SO MUCH EASIER, WHAT IT DOES FOR THEM.
SHE SAID IT'S A SIGNIFICANT SAVINGS.
THEY ACTUALLY HAD THAT ON THERE.
>> ANYONE WHERE HE DIDN'T WORK FOR THEM?
>> YES. I DID CALL ONE OF THE, I CAN'T REMEMBER WHO IT WAS NOW.
I CALLED A SCHOOL THAT THEY DID SEVEN OR EIGHT YEARS AGO.
ACTUALLY, I THINK SOME OF THE TECHNOLOGIES AT WHAT SCHOOL, DO YOU REMEMBER WHAT I SAID?
>> I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT YOU SAID.
>> I CAN'T REMEMBER, ROYSE CITY OR SOMEWHERE.
BUT THEY DID IT ABOUT EIGHT YEARS AGO, AND I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT THEY SAID, BUT THEY SAID THEY DID NOT GET A WHOLE LOT OF IT, BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT.
>> ROYSE CITY, WE USED TO USE A HONEYWELL CONTROLLER.
THAT WAS THE FIRST ONE THAT CAME OUT THAT COULD DO WI-FIS.
REALLY BACK BEFORE COVID, WE CHANGED OUT TO PELICAN BECAUSE HONEYWELL ISN'T AS GOOD.
NOW, ROYSE CITY, THEY DIDN'T GET AS MUCH SAVINGS AS WE PROJECTED, BUT WE WROTE THEM A CHECK EVERY MONTH THEY WERE SHORTFALL AND THEN THEY STILL GOT ALL THE SAVINGS AFTER THAT.
BUT THEY DIDN'T GET THE FULL COMMITTED SAVINGS THERE.
>> BUT THAT'S THE ONLY ONE. I ACTUALLY TALKED TO SEVERAL SCHOOLS AND THEY WERE ALL POSITIVE.
I GOT THE NEGATIVE NAME FROM ANOTHER COMPANY THAT CALLED ME AS WELL BECAUSE I GET A CALL PROBABLY ONCE A WEEK FROM SOMEBODY SAYING THAT THEY'RE GOING TO COME IN AND SAVE US MONEY.
THIS COMPANY SAID, WELL, THIS SCHOOL DIDN'T HAVE VERY GOOD SUCCESS.
I THOUGHT, WELL, I'LL CALL THEM AND ASK THEM.
IT WASN'T A NEGATIVE TOWARD THEM.
IT WAS HEY, WE DIDN'T SEE AS MUCH AS WHAT THEY HAD SAID.
I ASKED HIM ABOUT IT AND HE SAID THAT WAS ACTUALLY BEFORE THEY GOT TO SOME OF THE TECHNOLOGIES THEY HAVE NOW.
THE SCHOOLS I DID CALL WERE VERY EXCITED ABOUT IT.
>> LET ME SAY, TRYING TO REMEMBER HOW FAR BACK, BEEN INVOLVED IN THIS TYPE OF THING FOR OVER 20 YEARS AT THIS POINT.
ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO, I WAS AT A SCHOOL AND WE WERE INVOLVED IN SOME PRETTY HEAVY LITIGATION WITH A COMPANY THAT DOES A SIMILAR THING.
THAT LITIGATION, I GUESS, GAVE ME AN EDUCATION.
EVERY COMPANY THAT'S COME TO SEE ME SINCE THEN, AND THERE'S A LOT OF THEM THAT DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF WE'RE GOING TO DO THIS WITH THE SAVINGS.
IT WON'T COST YOU ANYTHING, THIS AND THAT.
THE HUMIDITY CONTROL IS THE DIFFERENCE MAKER.
AGAIN, I SPENT PROBABLY THREE YEARS IN A LITIGATION SITUATION EARLY IN MY CAREER OVER A VERY SIMILAR THING.
SOME WILL OFFER TO BUILD YOU A NEW FIELD HOUSE ON THE FRONT END AND PAY FOR IT OVER SAVINGS OR SO.
ALL DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THIS, BUT WE'VE GRILLED THEM.
I'VE MET WITH THEM TWICE MYSELF.
THEY TRULY HAVE AND HE SAID IT SEVERAL TIMES TONIGHT, BUT THEY DIDN'T START THIS COMPANY TO MAKE MONEY.
THEY STARTED THIS COMPANY AS A MISSION TO DO GOOD FOR THEIR COMMUNITY, AND THAT'S TRULY THEIR GOAL.
>> A COUPLE OF QUICK QUESTIONS, MOSTLY TOWARDS YOU, MIKE.
I LIKE THE POINT WHERE AT LEAST THEY CLAIM THAT THIS IS GOING TO EXTEND THE LIFE OF OUR SYSTEMS. ON YOUR MAINTENANCE PROJECT SPREADSHEET, WHAT EQUIPMENT ARE WE PLANNING TO REPLACE IN THE NEXT, SAY, FIVE YEARS?
>> WELL, BECAUSE OF THE SIEMENS DEAL, MOST OF OUR AIR CONDITIONING UNITS ARE MAYBE A LITTLE BIT OVER SIX YEARS OLD.
I REALLY DON'T KNOW THE EXACT DATE OF WHEN YOU ALL DID THAT.
THEY'RE NOT OLD. WE DID LOOK AT THAT.
I WILL TELL YOU, WE ONLY REALLY HAVE TWO AIR CONDITIONING GUYS IN OUR WHOLE DISTRICT AND I SAW 1,400 UNITS THAT THEY HAVE TO HANDLE.
ANYTHING WE CAN DO THAT'S GOING TO HELP THEM REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF THINGS THEY HAVE TO DO.
I WILL TELL YOU, THE BOTTOM FLOOR OF OUR JUNIOR HIGHS IS A NIGHTMARE.
IF THEY CAN COME IN AND AGAIN, WE'VE GOT TO SEE WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE, AND THEY'RE TELLING ME THEY CAN.
[02:20:02]
BUT WE RIGHT NOW CURRENTLY HAVE DEHUMIDIFIERS IN THE BOTTOM FLOOR OF OUR JUNIOR HIGH.WHEN IT GETS HOT, WE HAVE DEHUMIDIFIERS THAT THEY DUMP INTO 50-GALLON BUCKETS, AND WE'RE CARRYING THEM OUT TWO OR THREE TIMES A DAY TO DEHUMIDIFY.
I THINK IF THEY CAN COME IN AND FIX OUR HUMIDITY PROBLEM AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL, IT'S GOING TO MAKE THINGS A WHOLE LOT MORE COMFORTABLE AND JUST A BETTER ENVIRONMENT.
PLUS, I THINK THE LITIGATION THAT MR. LAMB WAS TALKING ABOUT WAS MOLD AND MILDEW AT THAT SCHOOL.
IF THEY CAN HANDLE THE HUMIDITY, AND I'M VERY INTERESTED IN FINDING OUT WHAT THEY CAN DO FOR ME IN MY HOUSE TO BE HONEST WITH YOU.
>> YOU'RE ACTUALLY REMINDING ME, I'VE BEEN INVOLVED IN LITIGATION TWICE OVER THIS TYPE OF THING.
BACK TO THAT MOLD SITUATION, WHICH WAS THE SECOND ONE, EVERYBODY HAS A SALES PITCH.
BUT WHEN YOU SEE IT LIVE AND IN COLOR, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, IT'S REALLY NOT A SALES PITCH.
OTHER COMPANIES MAKE THEIR MONEY OFF OF SAYING, YOU JUST NEED A BIGGER BTU UNIT AND IT'LL SOLVE THE PROBLEM.
I'VE BEEN A PART OF BUYING BIGGER BETTER UNITS SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE I WAS TOLD BY OTHER EXPERTS THAT'S THE ANSWER.
WELL, I'VE SEEN LIVE AND IN COLOR AND STRESSED OUT OVER A COUPLE OF YEARS WORTH OF COURT CASE, THAT'S NOT THE ANSWER.
THEY HAVE AN ANSWER THAT DOES WORK BETTER FOR WHAT I'VE SEEN.
WHEN A SALES PITCH DOESN'T BECOME A SALES PITCH IN FRONT OF MY FACE, I START TO REALLY BELIEVE IN IT.
>> I GUESS MY QUESTION IS ON YOUR GUARANTEE.
YOU SAY THE SAVINGS AREN'T THERE TO COMPENSATE FOR THE REQUIRED QUARTERLY PAYMENT.
IF IT NEVER MATERIALIZES, IS THERE A MAX TO THAT? DO YOU REFUND US TO A CERTAIN PERCENTAGE OR WOULD IT COVER EVERYTHING IF IT ENDS UP FAILING COMPLETELY?
>> NO. THE FIRST PAYMENT IS ACTUALLY A LITTLE OVER SIX MONTHS AFTER YOU SIGN THE AGREEMENT, BUT THEN QUARTERLY AFTER THAT, EACH QUARTER, IF YOU DON'T SAVE ENOUGH FOR THAT MINIMUM QUARTERLY PAYMENT, WE WRITE YOU A CHECK FOR THE DIFFERENCE, EVERY QUARTER.
THAT DOESN'T END. WE SUPPORT IT COMPLETELY SO THAT YOU HAVE NO RISK.
THAT WAS OUR WHOLE GOAL GOING IN, IS TO MAKE IT WHERE IT'S NO RISK.
WE ACTUALLY WORK ON ABOUT A 1% NET PROFIT LEVEL BECAUSE WE'RE A MINISTRY FIRST.
WE GO IN AND TRY TO DO THE BEST WE CAN TO PUT AS MUCH MONEY BACK INTO SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND CHURCHES AS WE KNOW HOW.
>> ARE YOU A 501(C)(3)? WHAT'S YOUR [OVERLAPPING]
ORIGINALLY, WHEN I'VE REALLY FELT CALLED TO DO THIS, WE THOUGHT ABOUT A 501(3)(C), BUT WE SAID, THEN WE'RE GOING TO BE COMPETING FOR DONATIONS WITH THE SAME PEOPLE WE'RE TRYING TO HELP.
YOU GET A WHOLE LOT OF DIFFERENT REGULATIONS WITH A 501(3)(C).
BUT WE SAID IF WE SET UP AS A C CORP, AND WE PUT EVERYTHING WE OWNED INTO IT TO GO HELP DO THIS, THEN YOU'RE NOT COMPETING WITH THAT.
YOU CAN ACTUALLY GO OUT AND GET INVESTMENT MONEY.
IT'S NOT A BIG RETURN, BUT YOU GET MONEY THAT PEOPLE WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
FOR EVERY DOLLAR WE'VE RAISED AN INVESTMENT, WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO PUT $90 BACK INTO SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND CHURCHES, AND NOBODY HAS THAT LEVERAGE, BUT IT'S BECAUSE WE CAN USE IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. THAT'S WHAT WE DO.
>> ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE YOUR HAND. MOTION CARRIES.
>> THEN THERE'S A SECOND VOTE FOR THE PURCHASE PLAN AGREEMENT, WHICH IS THE ED 21.
IS THERE ANY QUESTIONS ON THAT? ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE YOUR HANDS.
MR. ENGLISH. MR. OLSON MADE THE MOTION, MR. ENGLISH SECONDED.
KEN'S NOT INVOLVED. [BACKGROUND] ALL IN FAVOR?
>> THAT MOTION CARRIES AS WELL.
>> I HAVE A QUESTION, JESSE, ON THE ACCOUNTING SIDE.
THE PAYMENT THAT'S BEING MADE TO THEM, CAN THAT BE CODED AS UTILITY, OR HOW IS THIS GOING TO SHOW UP IN OUR FINANCIALS?
[02:25:12]
>> ALL GOING TO BE E-MAIL. THAT'S THE QUESTION I HAVE.
>> MR. WEISS, YOU ARE UP WITH OUR NEXT ACTION ITEM.
>> THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH. APPRECIATE IT.
NEXT UP, WE HAVE A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING REDEMPTION OF BONDS.
I DON'T KNOW IF YOU REMEMBER FOUR OR FIVE YEARS AGO, WE DID THOSE VARIABLE RATE BONDS.
THIS IS OUR LAST AMOUNT OF THOSE WE HAVE LEFT THAT WE HAVEN'T ALREADY EARLY REFUNDING ON.
IF WE DON'T DO THIS, ON AUGUST 15TH, THEY GO FROM DOING A 0.68% BOND TO BEING A 7% BOND.
THAT'S A SIGNIFICANT JUMP IF WE DON'T PAY THESE OFF EARLY.
THE REDEMPTION WILL SAVE ABOUT $2.1 MILLION OVER THE COURSE OF THE BOND.
>> THAT WON'T CHANGE EVEN IF WE HAVE IDEAL IMPACT?
>> I THINK I NEED TO READ THE RESOLUTION TO YOU, GUYS, WHICH IS GOING TO BE VERY EXCITING. EVERYONE BUCKLE UP.

>> MR. BURTON MADE THE MOTION. IS THERE A SECOND?
>> I HEARD MR. ENGLISH MAKE THE SECOND.
IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION, SNARKY OR OTHERWISE?
>> HE'S SWEATING. [OVERLAPPING]
>> HE'S SWEATING. WE STRESSED MR. WEISS OUT TO THAT.
ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE YOUR HAND.
[11. Consent Agenda]
IS THERE A SECOND?>> MR. ENGLISH MADE THE SECOND.
ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE YOUR HAND.
[13. Board Comments]
I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR STICKING AROUND.THANK YOU FOR STICKING AROUND TO THE CLASS OF 2025.
YOU'RE GOING OUT INTO THE REAL WORLD.
FOR OUR STUDENTS STILL IN SCHOOL, FINISH STRONG THIS WEEK, AND THAT'S WHAT I'VE GOT.
MR. ENGLISH, WE'RE GOING TO START WITH YOU AND THEN GO DOWN THAT WAY.
>> FIRST, I WANT TO THANK ALL THE TEACHERS AND EDUCATORS AND ADMINISTRATORS, SUPPORT STAFF FOR SCHOOL YEAR.
I KNOW IT'S BEEN A BIG CHALLENGE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, ADMINISTRATION AS WELL.
THANK YOU FOR ALL THE EFFORTS AND EVERYTHING YOU'VE DONE FOR OUR STUDENTS AND KIDS.
WE WISH ALL THOSE STUDENTS WHO ARE NOW GRADUATING FROM LITTLE ELM ISD A PROSPEROUS OPPORTUNITY OUT IN THE WORLD, AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM BIG THINGS FROM YOU AS YOU GO OUT THERE IN THE WORLD.
THANK YOU FOR THE PARENTS WHO SUPPORT THEIR KIDS AND CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THEM AS THEY GO OUT AS WE APPRECIATE YOU. THAT'S IT FOR ME.
>> I WANT TO THANK ALL THE TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS, EVERYBODY THAT HAVE HELPED MAKE THIS LAST YEAR THE SUCCESS THAT IT WAS.
I KNOW SO MANY OF OUR ADMINS AND LEADERSHIP ROLES THIS SUMMER IS WHEN THE BULK OF THE HEAVY LIFTING HAPPENS TO GET READY FOR THE NEXT YEAR.
THOSE TEACHERS ARE INVOLVED IN CURRICULUM WRITING AND ALL THE OTHER THINGS.
NOT ALL TEACHERS GET 10-WEEK BREAK, AND DEFINITELY WITH TRAININGS AND STUFF, IT'S DEFINITELY NOT AS LONG AS IT APPEARS.
IT'S ALSO THE PERIOD OF TIME THAT MAKES ME APPRECIATE THEM EVEN MORE, HAVING KIDS HOME ALL DAY FOR THE SUMMER.
I'M NOT THAT PARENT THAT LOOKS FORWARD TO THE SUMMER BECAUSE I GET MY KIDS BACK EVERYDAY.
I'M LIKE, NO, I'M COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS TILL I CAN GIVE THEM BACK.
THANK, AGAIN, ALL OUR TEACHER ADMINISTRATORS FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO.
I HOPE THIS IS A VERY SUCCESSFUL SUMMER THAT SOME GOOD BREAKS ARE TAKEN, SOME GOOD VACATIONS ARE TAKEN, SOME REST AND RELAXATION HAPPENS SO THAT WE CAN BUILD AND CONTINUE ON TO NEXT YEAR ON THE SUCCESS FROM THIS YEAR. THANK YOU.
>> I JUST LOVE TO SEE FROM THE PRESENTATIONS, EVEN THOUGH WE'RE NOT A GROWTH DISTRICT ANYMORE.
WE'RE ACTUALLY A LITTLE BIT OF A SLIGHT DECLINE IN STUDENT ENROLLMENT, YET OUR AWARDS GO UP, YET OUR CERTIFICATES GO UP.
EVERYTHING'S GOING UP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, YET OUR ENROLLMENT IS GOING DOWN, WHICH MEANS OUR KIDS THAT ARE HERE ARE GETTING BETTER AND BETTER EDUCATION.
SO THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF, EVERYONE.
SPECIAL SHOUT OUTS TO MS. GENTRY AND ALL THE HIGH SCHOOL STAFF AND ANYONE ASSOCIATED WITH GRADUATION CEREMONIES.
I CAN'T TELL YOU I ATTENDED ANOTHER ONE THIS WEEKEND AND IT JUST SEEMED VERY CHAOTIC, VERY UNORGANIZED.
I CAN'T TELL YOU ENOUGH THAT WHEN SITTING THROUGH OURS, JUST THE NICE RHYTHM AND RIGOR IT HAS WITH IT.
IT'S A VERY GREAT EVENT AND IT JUST IS NICE AND CLEAN AND SMOOTH.
THANK YOU TO MS. GENTRY, ALL THE STAFF FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL, THE TEACHERS, AND EVERYONE ASSOCIATED WITH IT.
YOU ALL DID A GREAT JOB AS USUAL THIS YEAR, AND IT JUST MAKES ME FEEL MORE APPRECIATIVE OF WHAT YOU DO WHEN ATTENDING OTHERS AND THEY LASTED ONLY 30 MINUTES SHORTER THAN OURS, AND THEY HAD A THIRD OF THE KIDS.
>> WELL, DEFINITELY TONIGHT HIGHLIGHTS THE DESTINATION DISTRICT, BEING A LOBO AND WHAT IT MEANS FOR LITTLE ELM, PUTTING US BACK ON THE MAP IN RELATIONSHIP TO ALL THE GREAT THINGS HAPPENING HERE WITH OUR STUDENTS AND ALL THE DIFFERENT OTHER ACTIVITIES THEY DO ON A DAILY BASIS.
[02:35:05]
HOPEFULLY, EVERYONE HAS A GREAT SUMMER AND WE'LL SEE YOU BACK IN A FEW MONTHS.>> WELL, SIMILAR. I'M STILL THE ROOKIE BACK HERE, SO THIS WAS ONLY MY SECOND YEAR TO BE PART OF SENIOR AWARD NIGHT AND GRADUATION.
THIS YEAR, THEY WERE WONDERFUL.
WE'VE GOT A GREAT GRADUATING CLASS THIS YEAR.
I WAS VERY IMPRESSED AT SENIOR AWARD NIGHT, THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS THAT WERE ABLE TO RECEIVE RECOGNITION FOR WHAT THEY'VE DONE THROUGH THEIR WHOLE CAREER, EVEN THOUGH SOME WEREN'T THERE BECAUSE I THINK EP TESTING WAS GOING ON, BUT AGAIN, AS YOU'VE HEARD, GRADUATION WAS WONDERFUL.
I'M REALLY AMAZED AT ALL OF THE ARTS AND CTE AWARDS.
HOW MANY DID THEY HAVE AT THE SIGN-UP DAY, 15 OR 16? SOME VERY HEALTHY SCHOLARSHIPS GOING TO OUR STUDENTS THAT ARE GOING INTO THE ARTS AND COLLEGE.
I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO ROBOTICS NEXT YEAR, MR. LAMB.
HOPEFULLY, I CAN BE INVOLVED WITH THAT AS THAT GETS KICKED OFF.
I APPRECIATE THE CITIZENS' INPUT.
WE LISTEN TO WHAT YOU'RE SAYING, SO THANK YOU FOR COMING FORWARD.
WE LIKE TO HEAR FROM THE PUBLIC, AND GREAT SUMMER, EVERYBODY.
>> PRETTY MUCH DID ON WHAT MOST OF YOU HAVE SAID, ESPECIALLY REGARDING THE GRADUATION CEREMONY.
WHEN YOU RUN CLOSE TO 600 STUDENTS ACROSS THAT STAGE IN AN HOUR AND 55 MINUTES, THAT'S JUST PRETTY EFFICIENT.
WE'RE DOING A LOT OF GREAT THINGS.
OUR STUDENTS ARE WELL BEHAVED, THEY DID A WONDERFUL JOB.
SOME OF OUR PARENTS, NOT SO MUCH, RIGHT UP ON THE STANDS, BUT I THINK OUR STUDENTS SHOWED THEM UP.
THANK YOU FOR A GREAT GRADUATION CEREMONY.
[14. Superintendent Comments]
>> MY COMMENTS, SAME, WHAT A GREAT NIGHT.
YES, IT FEELS A LITTLE LONG, BUT IT'S ALL GOOD STUFF, SO WHAT AN EXCITING, GREAT YEAR.
IN ABOUT FOUR DAYS, WE'LL SAY IT'S OVER AND IT'S BEEN A GOOD ONE.
YOU'RE VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE LEADER OF THE PACK AWARDS AND THE NOMINATIONS AND HOW THEY COME ABOUT.
WE'VE HAD A COUPLE NOMINATED THAT'S A LITTLE MORE INTERNAL, AND ASHLEY SAID I COULD GIVE THESE OUT AS I SAW FIT, AND I CHOOSE TO DO THEM RIGHT HERE IN PUBLIC, SOMEWHAT.
FOR THESE LEADER OF THE PACK AWARDS, WE HAVE AN EMPLOYEE, JOSEFINA JACKSON AT OUR ZELLARS, WHO HAS NOMINATED DONNIE BARTLETT.
I WANT TO READ WHAT SHE SAID, "DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT BARTLETT EXEMPLIFIES APPROACHABLE LEADERSHIP.
DESPITE HIS DEMANDING ROLE, HE ALWAYS MAKES TIME TO LISTEN AND CONNECT DIRECTLY WITH STAFF ON CAMPUS.
HIS PROFESSIONALISM AND GENUINE DEMEANOR FOSTER TRUST AND OPEN COMMUNICATION.
IN A WORLD WHERE CENTRAL OFFICE LEADERS CAN FEEL DISTANT, MR. BARTLETT STANDS OUT BY EMPOWERING EDUCATORS AND ADVOCATING FOR WHAT CAMPUSES NEED.
HIS PRESENCE MAKES OUR DISTRICT FEEL UNIFIED AND SUPPORTED." CONGRATULATIONS, MR. BARTLETT.
>> WE HAVE ANOTHER ONE SIMILAR TO THAT.
I APPRECIATE THE WAY ASHLEY ROLLED THIS OUT AS FAR AS WHEN SHE SHARED IT WITH US IN CABINET.
WE TEND TO DEAL WITH A LOT OF NEGATIVE THINGS, PARTICULARLY IN THE HR WORLD.
ANYTIME SOMETHING POSITIVE COMES ABOUT INTERNALLY, WE WANT TO CELEBRATE THAT.
THE SAME EMPLOYEE ALSO NOMINATED OUR VERY OWN JEFF BURTON.
LET ME READ WHAT SHE SAYS, "MR. BURTON IS TRULY A RAY OF SUNSHINE ON OUR CAMPUS.
HE SELFLESSLY VOLUNTEERS HIS TIME AND ENERGY, ALWAYS SHOWING UP WITH A SMILE AND KIND WORD FOR EVERYONE.
HIS POSITIVE ATTITUDE RADIATES THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL, UPLIFTING BOTH STAFF AND STUDENTS ALIKE.
MR. BURTON SUPPORTS OUR MISSION BY ENGAGING WITH STUDENTS IN MEANINGFUL WAYS, EMPOWERING STAFF WITH HIS ENCOURAGEMENT AND EQUIPPING OUR SCHOOL WITH HIS STEADY PRESENCE AND RELIABILITY." CONGRATULATIONS, MR. BURTON.
[02:40:05]
STAFF, THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE.THANK YOU FOR A GREAT YEAR AND ALL THAT YOU DO.
THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO, AND THIS ONE'S ALMOST OVER.
[INAUDIBLE] IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A LOBO.
>> THERE YOU GO. WE'LL CONSIDER A MOTION TO ADJOURN.
>> MR. ENGLISH MADE THE MOTION.
IS THERE A SECOND? MR. BURTON MADE THE SECOND.
ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE YOUR HAND.
WE ARE ADJOURNED AT 9:40 PM.
