WE HAVE THIS IS OUR SECOND YEAR OF RECOGNIZING STAFF MEMBERS ACROSS THE DISTRICT WHO ARE REALLY REPRESENT ALL THAT OUR FAMILY AND ALL OF OUR LOBO VALUES. THEY'RE THE CREAM OF THE CROP, THE VERY BEST OF THE BEST.

AND ACTUALLY, THEY'RE NOMINATED BY YOU GUYS, OUR COMMUNITY.

YOU SEND IN YOUR NOMINATIONS, TELL US WHY THEY SHOULD BE RECOGNIZED AS A LEADER OF THE PACK, AND THEN WE BRING THEM HERE TO THE BOARD. AND ALSO WE DO LOTS OF RECOGNITIONS AT THE CAMPUS LEVEL AS WELL.

THE VERY FIRST ONE THAT WE'D LIKE TO RECOGNIZE IS MISS PRISCILLA COOPER FROM BRENT ELEMENTARY.

SO IF YOU'LL WATCH THE VIDEO. [VIDEO] MISS COOPER WAS NOMINATED AS A LEADER OF THE PACK AT BRENT ELEMENTARY BY ONE OF OUR PARENTS, MR. BROGDEN, AND A STUDENT IN HER CLASS. MR. BROGDEN SHARED THAT MISS COOPER UNDERSTANDS THAT AT THE END OF THE DAY, KIDS WILL BE KIDS. SHE HAS MORE PATIENCE THAN MOST WITH HER STUDENTS AND PUTS A PRIORITY ON GROWTH THROUGH LEARNING AND HUMANITY.

SHE REALIZES EDUCATION ISN'T ALWAYS BLACK AND WHITE, CUT AND DRY, AND THERE IS ROOM FOR INTERPRETATION AND ROOM FOR LENIENCY WHEN APPLICABLE.

SHE IS MORE THAN A TEACHER. SHE IS A TRUE LEADER, A SECOND PARENT, AND A MENTOR TO HER STUDENTS.

CONGRATULATIONS TO PRISCILLA COOPER FOR RECEIVING THE LEADER OF THE PACK AWARD.

AS A MOTHER HERSELF SHE IS ABLE TO UNDERSTAND AND WEIGH THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS AND TEACH KIDS.

SHE'S PART OF OUR CONSCIOUS DISCIPLINE TEAM, AND SHE DOES A GREAT JOB OF LEARNING AND TRYING TO GROW HER STUDENTS AND THE SKILLS THAT SHE LEARNS THERE. WE'RE VERY PROUD OF HER. CONGRATULATIONS, PRISCILLA.

I SEE THE WAY SHE KEEPS US SAFE FROM THE HALLS.

SHE KEEPS KIDS FROM DOING THINGS THEY SHOULDN'T BE DOING. AND SHE SHE MAKES MY DAY EVERY MORNING BY SAYING, GOOD MORNING AND HAVE A GOOD DAY. SHE MAKES A LOT OF KIDS MORNINGS EVERY SINGLE DAY BY SAYING, HAVE A GOOD DAY AND GOOD MORNING. AND I SEE THE WAY THAT SHE CAN GET ALONG WITH THE STAFF AT THE SCHOOL AND THE WAY THAT SHE THAT SHE CONNECTS WITH PEOPLE THAT SHE HASN'T MET BEFORE, AND THAT'S WHY MISS SEAY IS LEADER OF THE PACK.

WE'RE VERY EXCITED THAT MISS SEAY IS BEING HONORED AND BEING RECOGNIZED AS A DISTRICT LEADER OF THE PACK.

MISS SEAY IS IN HER SECOND YEAR HERE AT STRIKE, AND IT'S HER FIFTH YEAR IN EDUCATION.

SHE'S TAUGHT SEVENTH GRADE FOR US THAT ENTIRE TIME SHE'S BEEN HERE WITH US, BOTH ON LEVEL AND IN HONORS CLASSES AS WELL, TOO. MISS SEAY WORKS VERY HARD ON HER LESSONS FOR HER CLASS.

SHE REALLY WANTS THEM TO BE EXCITING AND WANTS TO MAKE THE LESSONS FUN AND ENGAGING FOR HER STUDENTS.

MISS SEAY IS A MAJOR TEAM PLAYER FOR US AS WELL TOO, WHETHER THAT BE IN HER DEPARTMENT OR HERE AT STRIKE, SHE WORKS OUR FALL FESTIVALS. SHE IS AT CHOIR PERFORMANCES.

SHE IS DANCING AT OUR STUDENT SOCIALS. MISS SEAY IS ALWAYS AROUND, WHICH IS GREAT.

SHE ALSO WORKS VERY HARD TO MAKE CONNECTIONS AND BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH HER KIDS TOO.

I HAD A DUTY SPOT OUTSIDE OF HER CLASSROOM LAST YEAR, SO I GOT TO SEE THIS FIRSTHAND.

SHE WOULD SIT OUTSIDE HER CLASS. SHE WOULD GREET HER STUDENTS.

SHE WOULD CELEBRATE THEIR SUCCESSES. IT WAS VERY AWESOME TO BE ABLE TO SEE THE WORK THAT SHE DID WITH HER STUDENTS.

WE ARE VERY LUCKY TO HAVE MISS SEAY AT STRIKE, AND WE'RE VERY PROUD THAT SHE'S RECEIVING THIS HONOR OUR SECOND LEADER OF THE PACK, JODI SEAY, IF YOU'LL COME ON DOWN [APPLAUSE]. WE USUALLY START WE DO IT IN TWO SEMESTERS, THE FALL SEMESTER, THE CLASSES START ON SEPTEMBER.

IT GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE END OF NOVEMBER. WE TAKE A LITTLE BREAK IN DECEMBER AND JANUARY, AND THEN WE RESUME THE CLASSES ON FEBRUARY ALL THE WAY TO THE END OF APRIL.

FOR EXAMPLE, THIS YEAR WE, YOU KNOW, I'M SORRY, THE LAST YEAR, 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR, WE OFFERED 19 PARENT EDUCATION SESSIONS.

WE COVERED DIFFERENT TOPICS FROM MENTAL HEALTH DISCIPLINE WITH THE IDEA IS TO, YOU KNOW, INVOLVE THE PARENTS IN THEIR KIDS EDUCATION AT ALL LEVELS. LAST YEAR, FOR EXAMPLE, WE ALSO HAVE SPEAKERS WE HAVE FROM THE ESPECIALLY DEPARTMENT AT LITTLE ELM ISD, WE HAVE TWO WONDERFUL SPEECH PATHOLOGISTS THAT CAME AND TALKED ABOUT DETECTING SPEECH DELAYS AT EARLY AGES. WE ALSO HAVE FROM THE HUMAN RESOURCE DEPARTMENT, OUR COORDINATOR FOR TITLE ONE, COMING TO TALK TO THE PARENTS ABOUT WHAT IS ESPECIALLY, YOU KNOW, TITLE ONE.

AND WHY IS THIS IN PLACE IN THE DISTRICT. ALSO, WE HAVE [INAUDIBLE] LAST YEAR THEY CAME TO TALK ABOUT THE [INAUDIBLE] CAME TO TALK ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF COLLEGE READINESS. FOR THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR, 2024-2025, WE ARE OFFERING A TOTAL OF 21 SESSIONS.

WE ALREADY DID 10 IN THE FALL AND 10 IS GOING TO BE 11, I'M SORRY IN THE SPRING TIME.

EVERY SEMESTER, EVERY SEMESTER WE DO A POST EVALUATION BECAUSE IT'S IMPORTANT TO HAVE ON, YOU KNOW, THAT FOR OUR DATABASE AND TO KNOW THE NEEDS THAT THE PARENTS OR ANY IDEAS THAT THEY HAVE AND HOW THE PROGRAM IS GOING.

ALSO WITH THE TWU ALSO IS COMING TO THE DENTAL CLINIC, THE FACULTY, THEY ARE GOING TO COME AND TALK ABOUT HEALTHY

AND THROUGH THE COUNSELING DEPARTMENT, THE DISTRICT COUNSELING DEPARTMENT, WE ARE WORKING TOGETHER.

WE ARE GOING TO HAVE THE CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER COMING AND TALKING ABOUT CRUCIAL CONVERSATIONS WITH OUR KIDS.

SO THAT'S COMING IN THIS SEMESTER. BESIDES THE PARENT EDUCATION PROGRAM THROUGH THE NORTH TEXAS ADULT EDUCATION AND LITERACY, PARENTS RECEIVE ON A WEEKLY BASIS THE ESL PROGRAM AND GED CLASSES TOO.

ALSO, OUR AMAZING SPECIAL POPULATION DEPARTMENT IS OFFERING CLASSES ON A MONTHLY BASIS.

THESE CLASSES ARE MOSTLY FOCUSED ON SPECIAL ED TOPICS.

OKAY. ANOTHER PROGRAM THAT WE HAVE IS THROUGH TEA FEDERAL FUNDING PROGRAM IS THE VENTO MCKINNEY PROGRAM.

THIS IS TO SUPPORT OUR FAMILIES THAT FALLS IN THE CATEGORY IN THE CATEGORY OF HOMELESS.

SO THIS IS THE HOMELESS REPORT THAT WE HAVE FROM 2022 -2024.

OKAY. FOR SOME REASON, I WAS LAST YEAR WE COULDN'T DO THIS.

BUT I WANT YOU TO SEE THESE NUMBERS. A TOTAL OF 100 STUDENTS WERE QUALIFIED UNDER THE MCKINNEY VENTO ACT DURING THE 2022 -2023 SCHOOL YEAR. AS YOU NOTICE, NEXT YEAR, THE FOLLOWING YEAR, 2023 -2024, WE SERVED A TOTAL OF 77 STUDENTS.

YOU WONDER WHY, RIGHT? SO HOUSING IN THAT TIME, THAT TIME, THAT FRAME OF TIME CHANGED A LITTLE BIT.

AND THAT'S A GOOD THING. BUT THIS YEAR A TOTAL OF 60 STUDENTS ACTUALLY BY TODAY WE HAVE 64 STUDENTS THAT HAVE BEEN QUALIFIED FOR THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR. SO PROBABLY THOSE NUMBERS ARE GOING TO GOING GOING UP.

AND SIX OF THESE STUDENTS IT SAYS FIVE, BUT IT'S SIX BECAUSE WE HAVE A STUDENT THAT WAS QUALIFIED ON ACTUALLY ON FRIDAY AND IS A SENIOR.

THEY RECEIVED THE FAFSA VERIFICATION LETTER TO APPLY FOR COLLEGE.

OKAY. AND BESIDES THAT, ALL THE STUDENTS, EVERY HOMELESS STUDENT, THEY RECEIVE THE SCHOOL SUPPLIES.

THEY RECEIVE A BIG BACKPACK FULL OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES THAT HAS BEEN PROVIDED BY CROSSRIDGE.

THANKS TO THE COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT AND THE AMAZING PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CROSSRIDGE CHURCH.

SO EVERY HOMELESS STUDENT, THEY RECEIVE THAT.

BESIDES THAT, THROUGH THE FEDERAL PROGRAM, WE THEY RECEIVED A WELCOME BACK KIT.

AND THE WELCOME BACK KIT IS MOSTLY LIKE THEY RECEIVE LIKE A HYGIENE KIT.

THEY RECEIVE A BLANKET, THEY RECEIVE WATER BOTTLES, LUNCHBOXES, EXTRA SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR THEM TO HAVE IT AT HOME OR IN THE HOTEL OR WHERE THEY ARE STAYING. AND THIS YEAR ALSO, WE ASKED FOR THE I'M GLAD THAT WE ASKED FOR THAT THE EMERGENCY BLANKETS, BECAUSE SOME OF THESE FAMILIES, THEY LIVE IN SITUATIONS THAT PROBABLY WITH THIS WEATHER, THEY DON'T HAVE THE BEST CONDITIONS FOR THEM TO BE.

BESIDES THAT, THEY RECEIVE ASSISTANCE FROM LOVEPACS AND THE R EFRESH LITTLE ELM.

ALSO, ALL THESE STUDENTS, IF THE PARENTS OPT THE TWU DENTAL CLINIC, THEY DO AN EVENT EVERY MARCH.

AND SO WE MADE SURE THAT THESE STUDENTS THAT FALLS IN THIS CATEGORY APPLY TO THAT, THAT THEY THEY RECEIVE THAT SERVICE.

THAT'S ALSO WHY THE IS COMING THIS SPRING SEMESTER, BECAUSE PART OF PRESENTING IS ALSO RECRUITING STUDENTS FOR THAT FOR THAT EVENT.

AND THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR THAT WE THAT WE KNOW THE COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT, THEY DID LIKE AN OPEN, YOU KNOW, FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. SO PROBABLY MORE THAN 500 CHILDREN HAS BEEN SERVED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM.

SO THIS IS JUST A SUMMARY OF HOW OUR BENCHMARKING STUDENTS HAVE BEEN SUPPORTED, YOU KNOW, LOVEPACS, REFRESH LITTLE ELM, ALSO COATS FOR KIDS R IDE.

THE LOBO ANGEL TREE PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN AROUND FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS WHEN I CAME.

THIS IS MY 18TH YEAR HERE, AND I THINK THE PROGRAM WAS BEFORE I CAME, PROBABLY MORE THAN 20 YEARS.

SO THAT MEANS THAT OVER THE YEARS, MORE THAN 2,000 FAMILIES HAVE BEEN SERVED.

THAT'S CLOSE TO 500 CHILDREN OVER THE YEARS. RIGHT.

THIS YEAR WE ASSIST 96 FAMILIES. THAT MEANS IT'S LIKE 245 KIDS BETWEEN 0 TO 19 YEARS OLD. AS YOU SAW, YOU KNOW, THESE ARE THE GREAT SUPPORTERS THAT WE HAVE; 101 ANGELS WERE SUPPORTED BY, BY OUR OWN LEADERS AND ISD STAFF MEMBERS. AND ALSO BY ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS THE SPANISH NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY FROM HIGH SCHOOL, THE MIDDLE SCHOOL HONOR SOCIETY, STRIKE MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIR, SPORTS MEDICINE, AND LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL CHEER.

SO THESE ARE THE MAIN ORGANIZATIONS OUTSIDE THE COMMUNITY THAT HAS BEEN PROVIDING SUPPORT TO THE ANGEL TREE PROGRAM.

AND WE WYNNWOOD HAVEN, RTI, THE MISSION CHURCH, STONEBRIAR, LEISD DRILL TEAM LED BY ABIGAIL GLOVER.

ACTUALLY, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME. SO THAT'S I'M VERY HAPPY THAT WE ARE GOING TO CONTINUE WITH THEM WITH THE SUPPORT IN THE FUTURE.

STONEBROOK PEDIATRIC ALSO. LITTLE ELM FIREFIGHTERS AND COATS FOR KIDS FOR THROUGH DENTON ISD, THE NU DELTA DKG ORGANIZATION. AND THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR FOR REFRESH LITTLE ELM.

THEY PROVIDED ABOUT 250 BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, CUTE BAGS WITH THE TRAVEL SIZE HYGIENE KITS.

AND NOT ONLY THAT, BUT THEY TOOK THE TIME TO HAVE LIKE A CARD, CHRISTMAS CARD DECORATED, BEAUTIFUL.

SO GUESS WHAT? I'M RECEIVING A LOT OF GOOD FEEDBACK FROM THE PARENTS ABOUT IT.

SO THIS IS A GREAT THING. ALSO, LOVEPACS HAS BEEN OVER THE PAST PROBABLY 6 TO 7 YEARS, THEY'VE BEEN PROVIDING THIS FAMOUS CHRISTMAS GOODIE BAGS. GUESS WHAT? THE FEEDBACK FROM THE PARENTS AND FROM THE KIDS ESPECIALLY IS AMAZING BECAUSE THEY THEY PROVIDE THOSE GOODIE BAGS LIKE I THINK IS FOR TO DO COOKIES. SO IT'S SOMETHING FOR THEM TO DO OVER THE CHRISTMAS BREAK.

AND THIS YEAR WE HAVE THIS AMAZING STAFF MEMBER FROM HIGH SCHOOL, MRS. GRACE AMAYA. HE SHE I'M SORRY. SHE JUST TOOK, YOU KNOW, A SENSE OF BELONGING OF THIS PROGRAM.

AND WHAT SHE DID IS THAT SHE STARTED LIKE AT THE BEGINNING, I WAS A LITTLE BIT HESITANT AND AFRAID, BUT SHE WAS JUST A, YOU KNOW, GETTING THESE PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE COMMUNITY.

SO SHE GOT A LOT OF SUPPORT FROM SOME OF THE COMMUNITY MEMBERS, ESPECIALLY FROM SF5 CONSTRUCTION.

THEY DONATED BIKES AND TOYS AT THE LAST MINUTE.

AS YOU RECALL, HOUSE BILL THREE GOALS CAME ABOUT AS A RESULT OF THE 86TH LEGISLATIVE SESSION.

IN THAT THE HOUSE BILL THREE MANDATED THAT BOARDS HAVE GOALS TO REPORT ON IN TWO AREAS.

ONE WAS EARLY CHILDHOOD LITERACY AND MATH IN EARLY CHILDHOOD.

AND THAT EARLY CHILDHOOD INCLUDES OUR PRE-K CLASSROOMS, OUR KINDERGARTEN, AND THEN THERE'S A CUMULATIVE REPORT ON FIRST THROUGH THIRD GRADE, AND THEN THERE'S THIRD GRADE STAAR. IN ADDITION TO THAT OH MY GOSH.

I PROMISE THAT DID SAY TWO AT ONE TIME, IT MUST HAVE BEEN THE CONVERSION.

THE SECOND AREA IS IN OUR CCMR; CAREER, COLLEGE AND MILITARY READINESS.

AND SO WE'LL TALK ABOUT THAT WHEN WE GET TO THAT SLIDE.

FIRST UP IS OUR PRE K PRE KINDERGARTEN REPORT.

AND THE GOAL THAT WAS WRITTEN AND MIND YOU THESE GOALS WERE WRITTEN WHEN HOUSE BILL THREE CAME OUT IN 2019.

SO THEY REPORT THEY WOULD LIKE AN INCREASE IN THE CLI ASSESSMENT.

AND THIS DISTRICT CHOSE TO USE WAVE TWO. THERE ARE FOUR WAVES TO THE CHILDREN'S LEARNING INSTITUTE ENGAGE ASSESSMENT. JUST A QUICK REMINDER TOO, THAT TO QUALIFY FOR THE PRE-KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM, A STUDENT MUST NOT BE ABLE TO MUST MEET ONE OF THE CRITERIA OF NOT BEING ABLE TO SPEAK THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE, OF BEING HOMELESS, BEING IN OR HAVING BEEN IN FOSTER CARE, BEING A CHILD OF A MEMBER OF THE ARMED FORCES OR A CHILD WHO IS OF A PEACE OFFICER, FIREFIGHTER, EMERGENCY RESPONDER WHO HAS BEEN INJURED OR HAS PASSED AWAY IN THE LINE OF DUTY AND HAS RECEIVED THE TEXAS STAR AWARD. SO THOSE ARE THE CRITERIA, PRETTY MUCH TO PARTICIPATE IN PRE-K.

AND I THINK I MUST I LEFT OUT BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE FEDERAL FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH PROGRAM.

SO THESE ARE OUR MOST AT RISK KIDS THAT QUALIFY FOR THIS PROGRAM.

SO THE GOAL WAS TO INCREASE FROM 77% TO 84%. HERE IS OUR DATA IN THAT AREA.

AS YOU KNOW, WE HAD HALF DAY PRE-K UP UNTIL LAST YEAR WHEN MR. SEVERE OPENED OUR PRE-K CENTER. AND THIS WAS OUR ACTUAL PERFORMANCE IN RELATION TO THE GOALS THAT WERE SET.

I WILL TELL YOU THAT THIS IS READING AND MATH.

AND YOU WILL NOTICE OUR PERCENTAGES ARE NOT ANYWHERE NEAR WHERE WE WOULD HOPE THEY WOULD BE.

I, WAVE FOUR IS NOT IN FOCUS, BUT I DID PULL WAVE THREE.

AND IF WE LOOK AT THE SPRING ADMINISTRATION, WE ARE VERY CLOSE TO MEETING THOSE PERCENTAGES.

SO THAT IS JUST SOMETHING TO NOTE. WHEN WE LOOK AT KINDERGARTEN, THE KINDERGARTEN GOAL WAS THAT THE AVERAGE OR ABOVE SCORES ON THE SPRING MAP READING ASSESSMENT WOULD INCREASE FROM 74 TO 82%. SO AS WE LOOK AT THAT PARTICULAR DATA, AGAIN, IT'S NOT WHERE WE WOULD WANT IT TO BE. HOWEVER, I WOULD REMIND THE BOARD THAT WE HAVE DONE AN OVERHAUL OF THE CURRICULUM AND OUR INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS RESOURCES SINCE 2022. WE HAVE A NEW H AND H ADOPTION FOR READING LAST

YEAR THAT WAS IMPLEMENTED. AND WE DID IMPLEMENT A PHONICS PROGRAM IN JANUARY OF LAST YEAR.

SO THIS THIS REFLECTS LIKE FIVE MONTHS OF A PHONICS PROGRAM.

I WILL ALSO ADD AND I WILL JUST SAY THIS STANDS FOR THE FIRST THROUGH THIRD GRADE AVERAGE SCORES AS WELL.

THAT IN ADDITION TO THE NEW PHONICS PROGRAM AND THE NEW READING ADOPTION, WE DID PUT IN OUR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN THIS YEAR THAT THE SCIENCE OF TEACHING READING WOULD BE IMPLEMENTED IN ALL OF OUR CLASSROOMS. THAT IS THE STATE TRAINING TO ENSURE A STRONG FOUNDATIONAL PROGRAM FOR READING.

I WILL ALSO TELL YOU THAT OUR DISTRICT HAS BEEN AN EXEMPLAR DISTRICT IN THE STATE.

MISS HOLCOMB, OUR COORDINATOR FOR LANGUAGE ARTS AT ELEMENTARY LEVEL AND I PARTNERED AND GAVE A REPORT FOR ALL THE SERVICE CENTERS ACROSS THE STATE OF TEXAS IN CONJUNCTION WITH REGION 11 FOR TEA.

THEY CAME OUT THEY'VE DONE WALKTHROUGHS, WE HAVE A DASHBOARD OF OUR SCIENCE OF TEACHING, READING, IMPLEMENTATION DATA. AND OUR DISTRICT WAS ONE OF TWO HIGHLIGHTED ACROSS THE STATE FOR THE SCIENCE OF TEACHING READING.

AND WE GAVE THAT PRESENTATION TO ALL THE REGIONAL SERVICE CENTERS WITH REGION 11 IN DECEMBER.

SO WE FEEL REALLY, REALLY GOOD ABOUT WHERE WE ARE WITH THE SCIENCE OF TEACHING READING.

ANOTHER THING THAT WE HAVE DONE IS OUR TEACHERS WHO HAVE NOT HAD THAT TRAINING AT THE K THREE LEVEL ARE NOW GOING THROUGH THE COMPREHENSIVE MODEL. SO THERE'S NO LONGER A VIRTUAL OPTION.

THEY ARE GOING THROUGH A COMPREHENSIVE IMPLEMENTED IN THE CLASSROOM MODEL.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED IS THE STATE MANDATED THE SCIENCE THE READING ACADEMY.

AND IT IS A NATIONALLY NORMED ASSESSMENT. SO WHEN WE ARE LOOKING AT OUR 2024 ACTUAL PERFORMANCE, PLEASE KNOW THAT THE NATIONAL NORM IS 50%. SO IF YOU LOOK AT THIS FROM THAT LENS, OUR CHILDREN, OUR STUDENTS ARE DOING A REALLY ABOVE AVERAGE JOB IF THESE ARE AVERAGES ACROSS KINDERGARTEN AND THE NORM IS 50% NATIONALLY. OF COURSE THIS IS TARGETS ON STAAR AND WE ARE LOOKING AT THE MAP ASSESSMENT.

BUT I JUST KIND OF WANTED TO GIVE YOU A, A AN INDICATOR OF WHERE OUR KIDS HAVE TO PERFORM.

THIS NEXT GOAL IS [INAUDIBLE] THIRD GRADE STAAR.

WHEN WE LOOK AT THIRD GRADE STAAR IN THE AREA OF READING AND THERE IS A ONE YEAR DELAY BECAUSE THAT 2019 DATA WAS NEVER RELEASED.

SO IT WHAT THIS DISTRICT DID WAS INCREASED BY ABOUT 2% EVERY YEAR FROM THEIR STARTING SCORE.

SO IF WE LOOK AT FROM 44% TO 54, WE'RE AT THE 52%.

WE'LL REACH THE 54% THIS YEAR FOR THE GOAL. WE ARE AT, AS YOU SEE, OVERALL, 48%, WHICH IS IN FACT ABOVE WHAT THE

THE STATE IS PROMOTING THEIR MATERIALS FOR A STRONG SCHOOL FOUNDATION PROGRAM.

WE DID ADOPT THAT AND DO A SOFT ROLLOUT LAST YEAR OF THAT.

THIS YEAR WE ARE FULL ON EUREKA MATH. SO WE ARE SEEING, I THINK, SOME RESULTS FROM THAT. IF WE LOOK AT FIRST THROUGH THIRD GRADE THE GOAL WAS TO INCREASE FROM 65 TO 73%. IF YOU LOOK AT HOW WE ARE DOING IN THAT AREA AGAIN, YOU'LL SEE THAT, YOU KNOW, WE ARE CLOSE. THIS IS MAP AND THE NORM. THE NATIONAL NORM IS 50%.

WE ARE ABOVE THAT IN PRETTY MUCH ALL AREAS EXCEPT FOR ONE IN THE SPECIAL ED AREA.

AND SO WHEN YOU LOOK AT THAT AND LOOK AT KIND OF WHERE OUR KIDS ARE WE ARE MAKING SOME PROGRESS.

BUT WE ARE CLOSE OR MEETING IN SOME OF THE GROUPS.

SO WHAT YOU SEE ON THE 24 ACTUAL PERFORMANCE IS HOW OUR KIDS PERFORMED IN THIRD GRADE.

AND THEN WHAT YOU SEE AT THE BOTTOM IS THE TARGETS THAT THE STATE SET FOR THIRD GRADE.

SO THAT KIND OF PUTS IT IN REAL HARD CONTEXT OF WHERE ARE OUR KIDS IN RELATION TO THE STATE'S EXPECTATIONS.

THE LAST AREA TO LOOK AT FOR THE HOUSE BILL GOALS IS THE CAREER, COLLEGE AND MILITARY READY AREA.

THE GOAL WAS THE PERCENT OF GRADUATES THAT MEET CCMR WILL INCREASE FROM 58.5% TO 68.5% BY JUNE OF 2024.

AS YOU ALL KNOW WE HAVE MADE GREAT STRIDES IN THIS AREA.

BUT TEA DID IN 2023 INCREASE THEIR GOAL OF I BELIEVE IT WAS 60%.

THEY BUMPED THAT UP TO 88% TO SCORE AN A IN CAREER COLLEGE MILITARY READINESS.

WE ACTUALLY HAD LAST YEAR 60 AROUND 65%. IN THE 2024 GRADUATING SENIOR GROUP, WE HAD 87%. SO THIS IS WHERE WE ARE.

WE HAVE MADE TREMENDOUS STRIDES IN THIS AREA OF GETTING OUR STUDENTS READY FOR THEIR FUTURE.

I WILL SAY YOU KNOW, I CHECKED FOCUS TODAY AND THEN CROSS CHECKED WITH MICHELLE GENTRY AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, AND WE ARE AT ABOUT 75.5% WITH OUR GRADUATING SENIORS RIGHT NOW,

AND THEY STILL HAVE A SEMESTER. SO WE HAVE WE STILL HAVE KIDS THAT NEED TO TAKE THEIR CERTIFICATION TEST, WHICH THE MAJORITY OF THOSE WILL HAPPEN FOR THAT SECOND HALF OF THE HIGH SCHOOL GROUP IN THE SPRING.

AND WE HAVE OTHER MEASURES THAT WE WOULD USE, LIKE THE TSAI, TAKING A DUAL CREDIT COURSE.

SO WE FEEL PRETTY COMFORTABLE THAT WE WILL BE AN A, A LIKE A VERY SOLID A THIS YEAR.

SO OUR GOAL IS TO REACH 100% OF OUR KIDS. SO THIS IS WHERE WE ARE IN THE SECOND AREA OF HOUSE BILL THREE GOAL REPORTING, WHICH YOU CAN SEE WE ARE DOING A GREAT JOB IN THIS AREA.

WITH THAT I DID WANT TO LET THE LET THE BOARD KNOW THAT IT IS TIME FOR US TO WRITE NEW UPDATED HOUSE BILL THREE GOALS.

AS WAS MENTIONED EARLIER BY ONE OF THE PREVIOUS PRESENTERS, THERE WAS THIS GROUP OF STUDENTS ARE OUR MOST UNDERSERVED. THEY'RE EITHER THERE BECAUSE THEY HAVE A NEED, WHETHER IT'S FINANCIAL, FAMILY, WHATEVER, OR THEY HAVE A LEARNING NEED WHERE THEIR SPECIAL.

MY CHILD IS, BOTH OF MY CHILDREN HAVE BEEN THROUGH THE PROGRAM WITH THE SCHOOL SO FAR.

AND UP UNTIL THIS LAST SEMESTER, I HAVE FELT VERY SAFE AND SECURE WITH THE TEACHERS THAT I'VE HAD IN THAT CLASSROOM.

AND WE HAD AN ISSUE IN MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER'S CLASS THIS YEAR WHERE THE TEACHER WAS REMOVED FROM HER CLASSROOM A WEEK BEFORE SCHOOL GOT OUT.

AND THAT INFORMATION WAS NOT SHARED WITH THE PARENTS OF THE CLASSROOM IN A TIMELY MANNER.

I KNOW THERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT CAN'T BE DISCUSSED IMMEDIATELY WHEN SOMETHING HAPPENS I'M UNDERSTANDING OF THAT.

UP TO THIS POINT, MY OLDER DAUGHTER, WHO WAS IN THAT CLASSROOM, SHE HAD TWO WONDERFUL TEACHERS.

I HAVE TO SAY, MAJORITY OF THE PRE-K TEACHERS THAT I'VE DEALT WITH UP TO THIS POINT HAVE BEEN WONDERFUL.

AND ALL OF THOSE TEACHERS HAVE BEEN VERY COMMUNICATIVE AND HELPED ME TO FEEL SUPPORTED WITH HELPING MY CHILD IN THE CLASSROOM AND HELPING THEM MEET THEIR NEEDS AND HELPING THEM MEET THEIR EDUCATIONAL GOALS. THIS SEMESTER I WAS WORKING THROUGH THE NEW TEACHER THAT WE HAD AND NOVEMBER 12TH, IT'S CLEAR AS DAY FOR ME. MY DAUGHTER SUDDENLY DID A 180 DEGREE BEHAVIORAL CHANGE, AND I ASKED QUESTIONS IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE THAT'S NOT WHO MY CHILD IS.

AND THE PRINCIPAL WAS IN SOME OF THESE INCIDENTS WHERE MY DAUGHTER BASICALLY HAD A PANIC ATTACK AT THE SCHOOL, AND I COULDN'T PUT A FINGER ON WHAT IT WAS, BUT I WORKED THROUGH THE PROCESS THAT I'D HAD UP TO THIS POINT, WHICH WAS SPEAKING WITH THE TEACHER. THE TEACHER HAD BEEN, LIKE I SAID UP TO THIS POINT, PRETTY COMMUNICATIVE WITH ME.

I FELT LIKE I WAS ON A THIRD YEAR, A GOOD ROLE WITH A THIRD YEAR OF A TEACHER.

AND THEN COME TO FIND OUT, THAT TEACHER WAS NOT GIVING ME THE INFORMATION THAT I NEEDED TO BE ABLE TO HELP MY CHILD.

AND IT SEEMS THAT THERE WERE MULTIPLE PARENTS IN THAT CLASSROOM WHO WERE NOT GETTING THE INFORMATION THEY NEEDED TO HELP THAT CHILD. I THINK, YOU KNOW, I'M LUCKY ENOUGH MY FATHER IS ON THE SCHOOL BOARD IF YOU GUYS DIDN'T UNDERSTAND, I'M JEFF BURTON'S DAUGHTER. YOU KNOW, BECAUSE HE'S ON THE SCHOOL BOARD, I BOARD I THINK MAYBE WE GOT MORE COMMUNICATION THAN SOME OF THE OTHER PARENTS IN THAT CLASSROOM, WHICH A ISN'T FAIR, AND B SHOULD NEVER BE THE CASE.

AND I FEEL THAT WHETHER THAT TEACHER IS STILL THERE, I GOT A NOTICE YESTERDAY SAYING THAT THAT TEACHER HAS OFFICIALLY RESIGNED.

I FEEL LIKE THE COMMUNICATION FROM THE DISTRICT ON WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THESE CHILDREN WHO CAN'T COMMUNICATE FOR THEMSELVES IS TRULY A PROBLEM.

AND I FEEL LIKE EVEN IF THAT TEACHER IS NO LONGER THERE AND THAT PROCESS CAN'T MOVE FORWARD, THERE'S A BIGGER PROCESS I THINK NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT AT THAT BUILDING, BECAUSE THERE WERE MULTIPLE PEOPLE WHO HAVE RAISED ALARMS SPECIFICALLY IN THAT CLASS.

I'M NOT GOING TO TALK ABOUT THE CAMPUS AS A WHOLE. I'M GOING TO TALK ABOUT JUST IN THAT ONE CLASS, HAVE RAISED ALARMS REGARDING WHAT WAS GOING ON IN THAT CLASSROOM, AND NOTHING WAS DONE FOR IT LIKE NOTHING, UNTIL SOMETHING SO SEVERE HAPPENED THAT THAT TEACHER HAD TO BE REMOVED FROM THAT CLASSROOM AND THEY RESIGNED.

THAT'S SUPER DISHEARTENING AS A PARENT TO NOT FEEL LIKE I'M BEING SUPPORTED BY THE TEACHERS AND THE LEADERSHIP AT THAT SCHOOL.

SO MY COMMENT FOR YOU IS I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A CONTINUED REVIEW OF WHAT THE BREAKDOWN OF PROCEDURE WAS AT THAT CAMPUS.

WHY THE REPORTING WAS NOT GOING WHERE IT NEEDED TO GO, WHY IT WAS NOT BEING REPORTED.

MAYBE THERE'S CHECKS AND BALANCES THAT NEED TO GO INTO PLACE SO THAT WE TAKE CARE OF THE KIDS THAT NEED US TO TAKE CARE OF THEM.

I HAVE SEEN WONDERFUL THINGS WITH BOTH OF MY KIDS IN THE LAST TWO YEARS OF THIS DISTRICT.

I WAS ASTOUNDED THAT THEY WERE THAT MUCH ADVANCED WITH THEIR PERSONAL ABILITY TO PROJECT THEMSELVES.

SO HOPEFULLY WE CAN DO THAT AT MORE CAMPUSES RATHER THAN JUST OAK POINT.
