GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT WATKINS BOARD OF TRUSTEES, SUPERINTENDENT LAMB.IT IS MY GREAT PLEASURE TO INTRODUCE SOME OF OUR NEWEST LOBOS TO THE BOARD THIS EVENING.
SO WE'LL START AS PRESIDENT WATKINS SAID, WITH OUR NEW CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER.
SO I'D LIKE TO INVITE JESSE WYSE TO COME UP TO THE PODIUM [APPLAUSE].
JESSE HAS BEEN EMPLOYED WITH LITTLE ELM ISD SINCE OCTOBER OF 2015.
SO HE SPENT THE LAST NINE YEARS AS A LOBO IN A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT POSITIONS.
PRIOR TO HIS TIME HERE IN LITTLE ELM ISD, HE WAS IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR AND WORKED WITH BANK OF AMERICA FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND A LOT OF DIFFERENT CAPACITIES, INCLUDING SENIOR OPERATIONS ANALYST AND ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT OF CASH MANAGEMENT.
ON A PERSONAL NOTE, MR. WYSE HAS FAMILY WHO ARE HERE TODAY, TWO DAUGHTERS, HAYLEY AND HANNAH, AND HIS WIFE RONNA, WHO'S ALSO A LOBO.
WILL YOU ALL PLEASE STAND AND BE RECOGNIZED? [APPLAUSE] WHEN ASKED WHAT HIS FAVORITE TEAM OR SPORT TO WATCH IS, HE GOT HALF OF IT RIGHT.
BUT THEN HE ALSO SAID TEXAS A&M.
WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT? HE SAID BEING NAMED AS CFO IN LITTLE ELM ISD TONIGHT AND ALSO RECEIVING A RISE AWARD FROM TASBO.
AND WHEN ASKED IF HE COLLECTS ANYTHING, HE HUMOROUSLY SAID MOSTLY JUST POUNDS.
SO WITH THAT, I'LL TURN OVER THE MIC TO MR. WYSE TO ADDRESS THE BOARD.
IS IT TOO LATE TO CHANGE THE COWBOYS ANSWER? PRESIDENT WATKINS SUPERINTENDENT LAMB, THANK YOU SO MUCH, BOARD OF DIRECTORS, FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.
I LOOK FORWARD TO CONTINUING TO SERVE THIS DISTRICT THAT'S BEEN HOME FOR US FOR A DECADE NOW.
SHE'S SHE'S BEEN AMAZING AND JUST MAKING SURE THAT I'M READY TO TAKE THIS ROLE.
AND I'M EXCITED TO SEE WHAT'S NEXT FOR LITTLE ELM ISD.
THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH [APPLAUSE].
IF YOU'LL COME UP WILL [APPLAUSE]. WILL HAS BEEN MOST RECENTLY THE DIRECTOR OF
[00:05:08]
ACCOUNTING AND PROSPER ISD.HE WORKED HIS WAY UP THROUGH THE RANKS IN PROSPER.
AND BEFORE PROSPER ISD HE WAS ALSO IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR.
HE WAS A SENIOR ACCOUNTANT AND STAFF ACCOUNTANT AT ORYX OILFIELD HOLDINGS, WHICH IS IN GRAPEVINE.
ON A PERSONAL NOTE, WILL HAS A WIFE NAMED DAROLYN AND A SON NAMED SPENCER.
I KNOW AT LEAST DAROLYN IS HERE IF YOU'LL STAND TO BE RECOGNIZED [APPLAUSE].
WHEN ASKED WHAT HIS FAVORITE TEAM AND SPORT TO WATCH IS, HE SAID THE TEXAS RANGERS AND A&M AGGIES.
SO IF YOU'RE NOTICING AN UNFORTUNATE PATTERN HERE, YOU'RE NOT ALONE.
WHAT IS A LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT YOU? WILL SHARED THAT HE WAS IN THE VARSITY CHOIR IN HIGH SCHOOL.
SO I WILL NOW TURN OVER THE MICROPHONE TO MR. POAGE. WELL, I JUST WANT TO THANK THE THE BOARD AND SUPERINTENDENT LAMB FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.
I ACTUALLY USED TO DRIVE THROUGH LITTLE ELM EVERY DAY ON MY WAY TO PROSPER, I LIVE IN CORINTH AND ALWAYS SAID IF THERE WAS AN OPPORTUNITY IN LITTLE ELM, I WAS GOING TO, YOU KNOW, THROW MY HAT IN THE RING.
AND SO THANK YOU, SHAY AND JESSE, FOR GIVING ME THE OPPORTUNITY.
I REALLY LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH YOU ALL AND HELPING THE DISTRICT IN ANY WAY I CAN [APPLAUSE].
MISS THOMAS-MONDAY IS A LONG TIME LOBO.
WE'VE BEEN THRILLED TO WORK WITH HER OVER THE YEARS IN VARIOUS CAPACITIES.
SHE HAS BEEN AN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL.
SHE'S ALSO IN HER YEARS IN LITTLE ELM, BEEN OUR SECONDARY SUMMER SCHOOL PRINCIPAL.
AND SO WE HAVE BEEN REALLY BLESSED TO HAVE HER AS PART OF OUR LOBO FAMILY AND IN THIS NEW CAPACITY.
WE'RE VERY EXCITED FOR HER TO CONTINUE TO GROW AND THRIVE.
ON A PERSONAL NOTE, MISS THOMAS-MONDAY'S SPOUSE IS KAREN.
KIDS BERNICE, JALILA I HOPE I SAID THAT RIGHT AND JACOB AND GRANDKIDS AARON AND ANAYA.
WHEN SHE WHEN ASKED WHAT HER PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT WAS, SHE SAID BECOMING A CAMPUS PRINCIPAL WAS ONE OF HER PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENTS, AND IT WAS ONE OF HER MOM'S GOALS FOR HER BEFORE SHE PASSED AWAY.
SO IT WAS A WAY OF HONORING HER MOTHER.
SO WITH THAT, I'LL ASK TERILYN TO ADDRESS THE BOARD.
THANK YOU. THANK YOU BOARD AND MR. LAMB. I APPRECIATE THIS OPPORTUNITY.
I'VE BEEN HERE 18 YEARS, I'VE SEEN US GROW FROM SO SMALL TO SO LARGE, AND I'M EXCITED ABOUT THE SERVICES THAT I HOPE TO PUT IN PLACE SO THAT WE CAN MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR DIVERSE AND GROWING DISTRICT.
SO THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY [APPLAUSE].
AND OUR FINAL, NEWEST LOBO THAT I'D LIKE TO INTRODUCE TO THE BOARD AND TO THE COMMUNITY IS OUR BRAND NEW DIRECTOR FOR NETWORK AND TECHNOLOGY SERVICES, MR. JACK VESTAL [APPLAUSE].
JACK ALSO COMES TO US FROM PROSPER ISD.
SO AS YOU CAN PROBABLY IMAGINE, MIKE AND I HAVE NO MORE FRIENDS IN PROSPER.
HE WAS THEIR DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT SERVICES THERE IN PROSPER, AND PRIOR TO THAT, HE WAS IN LOVEJOY ISD AS THE DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY AND IN GREENVILLE ISD, WORKED SERVED AS THE SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER, AND REALLY WORKED HIS WAY UP THROUGH THE TECHNOLOGY RANKS IN GARLAND ISD, SERVING AS AN AV TECHNICIAN, A FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN, AND A NETWORK SYSTEMS ENGINEER.
HE HAS VAST KNOWLEDGE OF BOTH SIDES, LIKE THE NETWORK SIDE AS WELL AS THE TECHNOLOGY SIDE.
ON A MORE PERSONAL NOTE JACK HAS TWO CHILDREN, WILL AND SAM, ONE OF WHICH IS HERE TONIGHT.
WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT? HE SAID BEING A DAD IS HIS PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT, FOLLOWED BY LANDING THE JOB HERE IN LITTLE ELM ISD.
[00:10:04]
WHAT MAKES HIM LAUGH THE MOST? HIS SONS AND HIS COWORKERS IN LITTLE ELM.MR. LAMB BOARD, THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH FOR ALLOWING ME TO SERVE THIS COMMUNITY.
I'M VERY EXCITED, VERY PROUD TO BE HERE.
THANK YOU [APPLAUSE]. PRESIDENT WATKINS, THAT CONCLUDES THAT PORTION OF THE SUPERINTENDENT'S SPOTLIGHT. YES, MA'AM.
I'M GOING TO JUST MOVE OVER THIS WAY.
WE PUT OUT THE CALL TO OUR COMMUNITY AND ASKED THEM FOR NOMINATIONS FOR LEADERS OF THE PACK.
THESE ARE STAFF MEMBERS, WHETHER THEY'RE TEACHERS, SECRETARIES, CAFETERIA WORKERS, COUNSELORS, PRINCIPALS, ANYONE WHO HAS GONE ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY, WHO IS REALLY MAKING AN IMPACT ON OUR CAMPUSES AND IN OUR BUILDINGS.
SO THIS MONTH, WE HAVE TWO HONOREES TO BRING FORWARD TO YOU ALL.
AND OUR VERY FIRST ONE IS MISS KACY KUPPER FROM LAKEVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
[VIDEO] I NOMINATED KACY KUPPER AS LEADER OF THE PACK FOR MULTIPLE REASONS.
AND I ACTUALLY TEACH QUITE A BIT OF HER STUDENTS BECAUSE SHE IS IN ONE OF THE SPECIAL NEEDS CLASSROOMS. I CHOSE HER BECAUSE SHE IS NOTHING BUT AN EXAMPLE TO ME.
WE ALL FACE CHALLENGES EVERY DAY, BUT WITH HER SHE JUST COMES TO SCHOOL AND IS READY TO GO.
SOME THINGS HAPPEN AND SHE'S JUST READY TO BE AN EXAMPLE TO HER PEERS.
SHE'S POSITIVE FOR THE STUDENTS.
SHE STARTS OVER EVERY MINUTE, EVERY DAY AND SHE'S JUST READY TO GO.
AND I JUST REALLY VALUE THAT IN HER AS A FRIEND, AS A TEACHER, AS A STAFF MEMBER.
HI, MY NAME IS CHRISTOPHER REZA, I AM THE PRINCIPAL HERE AT LAKEVIEW ELEMENTARY, AND I AM SUPER EXCITED TO HAVE KACY KUPPER AS OUR LEADER OF THE PACK.
SHE IS SO DESERVING OF THAT AWARD.
SHE LOVES ON KIDS, IS VERY EMPATHETIC WITH STUDENTS THAT HAVE A HIGH NEED AND AND REALLY JUST NEEDS THE SUPPORT AND SOMEONE WHO CAN PUSH THEM ACADEMICALLY, BUT ALSO TAKE CARE OF THEM EMOTIONALLY AND TAKE CARE OF THEIR NEEDS BECAUSE THEY DO HAVE A LOT OF VARYING NEEDS IN THIS SPECIFIC CLASS.
SO I AM SUPER, SUPER EXCITED THAT SHE WAS NOMINATED AND WON THE LEADER OF THE PACK.
AND WE ARE SO PROUD LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IF YOU'LL BRING A ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR MISS KACY KUPPER, COME ON DOWN.
[INAUDIBLE] MISS KUPPER, WE HAVE A.
WE HAVE MR. LAMB AND MISS WATKINS WHO ARE GOING TO JOIN YOU AT THE FRONT FOR A PICTURE.
SO, A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MISS KUPPER.
THIS IS HER FIRST YEAR WITH US AS A LOBO AND LITTLE ELM ISD.
SHE IS ONE OF OUR RISE TEACHERS AT LAKEVIEW ELEMENTARY.
WE'RE GOING TO HAVE YOU TAKE A PICTURE WITH MR. REZA, AND THEN ALSO, IF YOUR DAUGHTER WOULDN'T MIND COMING UP, HER DAUGHTER IS HERE TO SUPPORT HER.
WE'D LOVE FOR YOU TO JOIN AT THE FRONT FOR A PICTURE.
OTHER, OTHER LITTLE KNOWN FACTS ABOUT MISS KUPPER, SHE WAS A FORMER ADMINISTRATOR, BUT SHE'S SO THANKFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE BACK IN THE CLASSROOM AND IS GRATEFUL TO BE A PART OF A DISTRICT THAT IS SO SUPPORTIVE OF ITS TEACHERS AND HAS BEEN SO WELCOMING.
FINAL PICTURE BEFORE YOU ALL LEAVE.
WE'RE GOING TO ASK OUR CORPORATE SPONSOR BEFORE YOU ALL LEAVE.
OUR CORPORATE SPONSOR, RBFCU, HAS THEIR SPONSORSHIP GIFTS FOR OUR LEADER OF THE PACK.
SO WE'D LIKE TO INVITE THEM UP TO GIVE YOU GIFTS AND TAKE A QUICK PICTURE WITH THEM AS WELL.
[00:15:06]
CONGRATULATIONS, MISS KUPPER.WE'RE PROUD OF YOU [APPLAUSE].
IF YOU'LL WATCH THE VIDEO. [VIDEO] HI, MY NAME IS CAROLYN PIPPINS, AND I'M THE MOTHER OF A STUDENT WHO HAS RECENTLY GRADUATED FROM SPECIAL ED.
I NOMINATED MISS FOURNIER FOR THE LOBO LEADER OF THE PACK, BECAUSE SHE GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR HER STUDENTS, AND EVEN NOW, STUDENTS THAT AREN'T ACTUALLY IN HER CASE MANAGEMENT.
SHE DROPS EVERYTHING AT JUST THE DROP OF A HAT TO GO HELP MY DAUGHTER WHENEVER MY DAUGHTER CALLS, OR WHENEVER I SEND A MESSAGE TO HER AND TELL HER SOMETHING'S UP.
WE TRULY APPRECIATE MISS FOURNIER FOR EACH AND EVERYTHING THAT SHE HAS DONE.
WE CALL HER OUR GUARDIAN ANGEL FOR OUR DAUGHTER.
MY NAME IS DOMINIC, AND THE REASON WHY I PICKED MISS FOURNIER FOR LEADER OF THE PACK IS BECAUSE SHE'S NICE.
SHE HELPS ME OUT WHEN I NEED IT, AND SHE TAKES HER TIME WITH ME.
HOW KIND SHE IS, HOW MUCH SHE WANTS HER STUDENTS TO PASS.
LIKE SHE WANTS TO LIKE TO TRY HER BEST, TRY THEIR BEST BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEY CAN.
SHE WANTS THEM TO DO IT, AND SHE DOES A REALLY GOOD JOB WITH IT.
SHE MAKES ME FEEL LIKE SMART, I GUESS, BECAUSE SHE'S PRETTY SMART.
AND THAT'S WHY I VOTED HER FOR LEADER OF THE PACK.
I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT MISS FOURNIER AND EVERYTHING THAT SHE DOES FOR OUR CAMPUS.
IN HER ROLE AS AN INCLUSION TEACHER AND A CASE MANAGER, SHE DOES SUCH GREAT WORK WITH STUDENTS, SUPPORTING THEM AND BUILDING GREAT RELATIONSHIPS AND HELPING MOTIVATE THEM TO DO THEIR BEST. AS A DEPARTMENT HEAD.
SHE DOES THE SAME FOR OUR STAFF.
SHE IS ALWAYS THE FIRST TO JUMP IN AND SAY, I CAN HELP WITH THIS.
I CAN HELP GET PEOPLE ON BOARD WITH THIS, SHE'S GOT SUCH A POSITIVE ATTITUDE.
AND EVEN THINGS THAT SHE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE INVOLVED IN SHE ALWAYS TAKES THE LEADING ROLE.
SHE WENT TO COSTCO AND BOUGHT A BIG BAG OF CANDY, AND I WOULD SEE HER OUT IN THE HALLS WITH A FANNY PACK FULL OF CANDY, JUST HANDING THINGS OUT TO STUDENTS WHO WERE DOING THE RIGHT THING. SHE'S AMAZING AND I'M SO GLAD SHE'S HERE AT LHS.
ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR MISS JENNIFER FOURNIER AS SHE COMES TO THE FRONT [APPLAUSE].
THIS IS HER EIGHTH YEAR IN LITTLE ELM ISD.
HER FAVORITE THING ABOUT TEACHING IS THE KIDS AND BEING ABLE TO BE A POSITIVE ROLE MODEL FOR THEM.

[7. Reports of the Superintendent ]
IS THE REPORTS OF THE SUPERINTENDENT.AND WE'VE GOT OUR GROWTH AND ACHIEVEMENT REPORT WITH MISS CECELIA JONES.
[00:50:18]
GOOD EVENING PRESIDENT WATKINS, BOARD MEMBERS, SUPERINTENDENT LAMB.MIC] I REALLY DO APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PRESENT, REALLY, A PROJECT THAT WE'VE BEEN WORKING ON IN THE SUMMER WHEN MR. LAMB ASKED IF I WOULD PRESENT.
I WAS LIKE, YEAH, I'D LOVE TO.
SO JUST A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE GROWTH AND ACHIEVEMENT REPORT.
THIS IS REALLY JUST AN OPPORTUNITY TO PUT ALL OF OUR HIGHLIGHTS IN THIS BOOKLET, AND I'VE PUT THAT RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, SO JUST BEAR WITH ME. I WON'T GO OVER EVERY SINGLE PAGE, BUT I DO WANT TO GO OVER SOME OF THOSE HIGHLIGHTS THAT WE'RE DEFINITELY PROUD OF.
WE'LL SKIP THROUGH A COUPLE OF THESE AND GET TO THIS.
AND AS YOU CAN SEE HERE, THIS WAS A SNAPSHOT TAKEN OCTOBER 27TH OF 2023 AND OUR LIVE DASHBOARD IS ACTUALLY LIVE ON OUR WEBSITE RIGHT NOW, WHICH CONTAINS A LOT OF THIS INFORMATION.
BUT YOU CAN SEE AT THE TIME WHEN I PULLED THE INFORMATION, I WAS TOLD WE HAVE 57 LANGUAGES SPOKEN HERE, WHICH WAS A SHOCKER, REALLY, BECAUSE A LOT OF THE LANGUAGE THAT, YOU KNOW, THAT I REALLY FOCUS ON IS ENGLISH AND SPANISH, AND THEN YOU CAN SEE THE BREAKDOWN OF OUR STUDENT DIVERSITY AND OUR ECONOMICS AND BY PROGRAM AS WELL.
I'VE HEARD MR. LAMB SAY THIS SINCE DAY ONE, SINCE HE STARTED WITH THE DISTRICT, AND HE REALLY SAYS THAT SCHOOL IS BROKEN INTO FOUR DIFFERENT CATEGORIES.
AND THAT'S KIND OF HOW WE DESIGNED THE BOOK.
SO I'LL TAKE YOU THROUGH THESE FOUR DIFFERENT PILLARS.
FIRST, WE'LL JUST TALK ABOUT ACADEMICS.
AND I'LL TELL YOU RIGHT NOW THAT ACADEMICS, YOU KNOW, I'VE BEEN IN THIS COMMUNITY FOR 10 YEARS, AND ACADEMICS REALLY IS A DRIVING FORCE IN PARENTS IN THAT DECISION OF WHETHER OR NOT THEY BRING THEIR KIDS TO LITTLE ELM ISD.
AND I THINK AFTER YOU SEE A FEW THINGS THAT WE'VE PUT TOGETHER IN THIS BOOKLET, WE'RE PROUD OF THE WORK AND JUST THE GROWTH THAT THAT WE'VE MADE IN THE 10 YEARS THAT I'VE BEEN HERE.
NOT THAT I TAKE ANY CREDIT FOR IT AT ALL.
BUT AS YOU CAN SEE ON THE FAR LEFT THERE, JUST THE THE PRESIDENTIAL VOLUNTEER SCHOLARSHIP AWARD, KEISHA BROWN, REALLY IN THE COLLEGE READINESS AREA HAS KIND OF WALKED THOSE KIDS THROUGH THAT.
AND I KNOW THAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT THIS AND GOING, WELL TWO, WELL, I THINK THAT WE'RE WHAT WE'RE SHOWING IS THAT WE'RE MAKING GROWTH AND THAT THESE KIDS ALSO DESERVE THAT RECOGNITION, TOO, BECAUSE THEY WORKED REALLY HARD TO RECEIVE THIS KIND OF HONOR.
ANOTHER THING THAT'S UP AND COMING, AND I KNOW THAT OUR CURRICULUM DEPARTMENT HAS BEEN WORKING REALLY HARD, AND I HAVE SEEN RIBBONS GETTING READY FOR THIS YEAR'S DISTRICT SPELLING BEE, BUT IT'S THE THE SPELLING BEE.
AND I THINK THERE'S SOME MOMENTUM THERE.
AND IT'S GOING TO BE A GREAT THING FOR THE DISTRICT.
SO I WANTED TO POINT THAT OUT TOO.
AND THIS HERE, JUST, JUST I WANT TO SAY THANKS TO JASON EVANS.
HE AND I SAT DOWN OVER THE COURSE OF TWO WEEKS AND REALLY DUG DEEP INTO THESE NUMBERS.
AND ONE OF THE ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I WANT YOU TO KNOW IS JUST THE VISUAL.
WHAT I WANT YOU TO REALLY FOCUS ON IS JUST THE GROWTH THAT WE'VE SEEN OVER THE LAST WE TRACKED OVER THE TWO YEARS, AND THAT'S KIND OF WHAT I'VE DONE HERE, IS PROVIDED A SNAPSHOT.
SOME THINGS THAT ARE JUST NOTEWORTHY.
AND IT'S UNDER THE ACT, OUR LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS HAVE EARNED A COMPOSITE SCORE OF 21.3 IN 23-24, TWO POINTS HIGHER THAN THE STATE AVERAGE, MAKING PROGRESS THERE.
[00:55:06]
SAT, LHS STUDENTS HAVE EARNED A CUMULATIVE CUMULATIVE SCORE OF 946 IN 23-24, AN INCREASE OF 16 POINTS OVER A TWO YEAR PERIOD, AGAIN, GROWTH.OUR PSAT TEST A TOTAL OF 1059 STUDENTS TOOK THE EXAM.
ALL COSTS COVERED BY THE HIGH SCHOOL.
I HAD TO JUMP AHEAD AND LOOK AT 2025.
I THINK THIS NUMBER IS PRETTY IMPRESSIVE.
BUT YOU CAN SEE WHERE WE WERE IN 23 AT 42% AND IN 25 WERE PROJECTED TO HAVE 87%.
GOOD JOB PENNY AND THE KIDS AND OUR TEACHERS EVERYBODY.
AND IF YOU LOOK BELOW ADVANCED PLACEMENT JUST THE GROWTH THERE FROM 21 AT 43% TO 54%.
THIS IS THE PERCENTAGE OF TOTAL AP STUDENTS WHO ARE EARNING A THREE OR HIGHER ON THAT AP EXAM.
AND THIS OTHER CHART TOO, JUST KIND OF GIVE YOU, GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT THAT GRAPH IS, REALLY.
IT'S THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS VERSUS THE NUMBER OF EXAMS HAVE BEEN TAKEN.
EVEN THOUGH OUR PARTICIPATION DROPPED IN 24, OUR SUCCESSES INCREASED.
IN ALL MATH, AGAIN, OUR RATE INCREASED 17% ON THE ALGEBRA END OF COURSE EXAM.
AND YOU CAN SEE THAT GRAPH AND HOW IT'S SHOWING THOSE GROWTH AND HOW WE'RE GETTING BETTER.
THERE WAS A LITTLE BIT OF DIP FROM 23 TO 24, BUT OUR MASTERS INCREASED.
IF YOU LOOK AT HISTORY OC AGAIN, WE'RE KNOCKING IT OUT OF THE PARK THERE SINCE 23.
THE HIGH SCHOOL 11TH GRADE STUDENT CONTINUED TO OUTPERFORM THE STATE ON THE HISTORY EOC EXAM.
AND THEN OUR BIOLOGY EOC WE'RE TRACKING UPWARDS.
SO AGAIN, THE VISUAL HERE THAT I WANT YOU TO KNOW IS THE PROGRESS.
MOVING ON TO OUR ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITIES, WE ARE PROVIDING A LOT.
I WENT BACK AND LOOKED AT AN OLD ARTICLE I'D WRITTEN ABOUT DUAL LANGUAGE IN 2006 2017.
WE HAD 500 STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM.
TO DATE, WE HAVE 822, AND THAT WAS FOR 23-24.
SO AGAIN, GROWTH IN DUAL LANGUAGE.
IF YOU LOOK OVER TO THE BIG BLUE BOX, YOU CAN SEE THAT OUR 24 COHORT IS PROJECTED TO COMPLETE 728 COLLEGE CREDIT HOURS SINCE THE INCEPTION OF LCA.
AND I REMEMBER WE ONLY HAD ABOUT 20 KIDS IN THE PROGRAM, AND IT'S GROWN TREMENDOUSLY.
AND THAT NUMBER IS REFLECTED IN THAT BAR GRAPH.
YOU CAN SEE THE GROWTH AND THE NUMBER OF KIDS THAT ARE IN IT.
MOVING OVER TO THE ARTS, WE KNOW THAT WE'RE DOING REALLY WELL HERE.
A LOT TO BRAG ABOUT WITH OUR MARCHING BAND, OUR BAND IN GENERAL, OUR ARTS CHOIR.
WE ARE IMPROVING IN OUR THEATER ARTS.
BUT FOR 23-24 WE'VE RECEIVED THE BEST COMMUNITIES FOR MUSIC EDUCATION THREE YEARS IN A ROW, AND OUR DISTRICT OF DISTINCTION IN THE ART AREA.
I KNOW THAT ALL OF YOU, MOST OF YOU HAVE BEEN TO THE ART SHOW.
IT'S QUITE IMPRESSIVE AND IT KEEPS GROWING.
AND NOW THAT WE HAVE THIS NICE BIG FACILITY, BEFORE THAT, WE HAD IT IN THE HALLWAYS AT ZELLER.
SO IT WAS VERY WE WERE SPACE WAS LIMITED.
SO NOW THAT WE HAVE THIS BIG SPACE HERE IT'S REALLY NICE.
AGAIN OUR BANDS AND WINTER GUARD SHINE AT UIL AND NATIONAL COMPETITION.
SWEEPSTAKES, YOU NAME IT, THEY'RE DOING GREAT.
THEY'RE GROWING IN THAT UIL MARCHING CONTEST.
I WAS VERY, VERY, VERY IMPRESSED WITH THEM THIS YEAR.
[01:00:03]
VERY DISAPPOINTED THEY DID NOT MAKE IT TO THE FINALS.BUT THERE'S NEXT YEAR, RIGHT, GUYS? OUR CHOIR EARNED A SUPERIOR RATING.
AGAIN, WE'RE SEEING A LOT OF THAT.
AND THEN OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS, CHOIR STUDENTS MADE IT TO STATE.
AND THEN OUR ART KIDS LAST YEAR IN 23-24, I BELIEVE IT WAS THE FIRST YEAR FOR OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS TO COMPETE AT THE JUNIOR VASE COMPETITION. AND THEY SWEPT THE COMPETITION AGAIN.
IMPRESSIVE SHOWING BY OUR HIGH SCHOOL AND OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL KIDS.
AND THEN MOVING ON TO ATHLETICS.
LAST YEAR THEY MADE AREA CHAMPIONSHIPS, BASEBALL, BI-DISTRICT PLAYOFFS, WRESTLING.
AND THEN WE HAD 24 STUDENT ATHLETES SIGNED TO PLAY FOR THE AT THE COLLEGIATE LEVEL.
AND THEN DOWN HERE BELOW, YOU'LL SEE IN 24-26 OUR UIL REALIGNMENT RELEASED.
AND THOSE ARE THE DISTRICTS THAT ARE IN OUR DISTRICT NOW OR SCHOOL DISTRICTS.
YES. MOVING ON TO ACQUIRED SKILLS, WHICH IS ESSENTIALLY CTE.
DOWN BELOW, A LITTLE FURTHER DOWN, YOU'LL SEE THAT IN 20.
LET'S SEE, THE INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATION CERTIFICATIONS THEY EARN IN 23 WERE 433 IN 2024.
SO NOTABLY, 46% OF THE GRADUATING CLASS OF 2024 EARNED AN IBC.
SO THAT'S WHERE A LOT OF THAT IS IN THAT WHERE THAT CCMR IS PULLING FROM IS THE IBC.
PROBABLY SOME OTHER THINGS THAT [INAUDIBLE].
AND THEN CONTINUING ON WITH THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT OUR KIDS HAVE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.
THE CUTX PROVIDES ANOTHER RESOURCE FOR KIDS TO HAVE ON THIS ON THE JOB SITE TRAINING WITH OUR REMARKABLE PARTNERSHIP WITH CUTX, AND WE APPRECIATE THEM.
MR. CASTILLO HAS GOT IT GOING ON OVER THERE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.
AND THEN OUR WELDING OBVIOUSLY CONTINUES TO GROW.
IT TRACKS A LOT OF KIDS THERE, THEY'RE DOING VERY WELL.
AND THEN ESPORTS KIND OF I THINK WORD STARTED TO GET AROUND AND THEN IN 24-25, WORD HAS IT THAT THIS YEAR THEY'RE THEY'RE EITHER FIRST OR SIXTH.
I'M KIND OF CONFUSED WHERE THEY ARE.
THEY'RE A TOP CONTENDER CONTENDING TEAM.
THEY'RE OUT COMPETING RIGHT NOW.
MR. CASTILLO SAID THAT THERE'S STILL A LITTLE BIT OF DEBATE OF WHETHER OR NOT THEY'RE IN FIRST PLACE OR FOURTH PLACE, BUT EITHER WAY, WE'RE DOING REALLY WELL IN THAT ESPORT ARENA, SO THAT'S NOT BAD FOR A FIRST YEAR.
WE KNOW THERE'S GREAT THINGS HAPPENING FOR KIDS OVER AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.
AND THEN MOVING ON TO COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT.
OUR 633 RUN, WE DID A GREAT WE HAD A GREAT TURNOUT IN 2023.
WE WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE A CHECK TO THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION $14,559.
THAT WAS WE WERE ABLE TO GIVE TO THE JERRY R.
WALKER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AND, AND THEN OUR SPLASH INTO INTO KINDER AT THE COVE.
AND IT'S JUST A GREAT FIRST POSITIVE IMPRESSION OF THE DISTRICT.
OUR HOMECOMING PARADE CONTINUES TO BE VERY POPULAR.
I KNOW A LOT OF YOU LOVE THROWING CANDY AT OUR AUDIENCE OR THE PARTICIPANTS.
I THINK LAST YEAR SO WE WERE ABLE TO WORK WITH THE TOWN.
[01:05:03]
THEY HAVE THIS REALLY COOL PROGRAM CALLED PLACER AI, AND IT GIVES ME EXACT NUMBERS OF WHO ALL WAS THERE.AND I BELIEVE LAST YEAR WE HAD OVER 3,000 PEOPLE AT THE HOMECOMING PARADE.
SO THAT'S A GOOD NUMBER TO KNOW WHEN YOU'RE BUYING CANDY FOR EACH OF THE FLOATS.
IT'S JUST A NICE FAMILY NIGHT THAT WE PLANNED THIS YEAR.
AND THEN OUR BACK TO SCHOOL BASH.
AGAIN, THANKS TO THE TOWN FOR ALLOWING US TO USE THEIR PLACER AI, [INAUDIBLE] WE WERE ABLE TO PINPOINT THAT WE HAD OVER A THOUSAND PARTICIPANTS. WE GAVE OVER A THOUSAND BACKPACKS, BACKPACKS.
35 VENDORS WERE IN ATTENDANCE, 750 SUPPLY KITS WERE PROVIDED FOR FREE.
WE HAD 50 HAIRCUTS THAT WE GAVE AWAY AND 300 VISION SCREENINGS.
AND THEN VOLY IS SOMETHING THAT WE STARTED LAST YEAR, AND IT WAS REALLY AN ANSWER TO A CALL THAT PENNY AND I HEARD FROM PTA PRESIDENTS THAT, YOU KNOW, THEY WOULD SHOW UP TO A CAMPUS AND WANT TO VOLUNTEER, BUT THEY WEREN'T QUITE SURE WHERE TO SERVE.
THIS IS OUR SECOND YEAR, AND I THINK EVERYBODY THEY'RE STARTING TO UNDERSTAND THE SYSTEM.
BUT WE HAD OVER 2,640 VOLUNTEERS SIGN UP AND CREATE AN ACCOUNT.
AND THEY SIGNED UP FOR 115 OPPORTUNITIES THAT WERE CREATED BY ALL THE DIFFERENT CAMPUSES.
AND THEN THE NEXT PAGE IS OUR HR STUFF.
REALLY SOMETHING TO POINT OUT HERE IS THE FOUNDATION.
THEY WERE ABLE TO AWARD OVER 67,000 TEACHER INNOVATIVE GRANTS LAST YEAR.
SO THAT'S GREAT. AND THEY'RE GETTING READY AND GEARING UP FOR THIS YEAR.
SO ANYWAY, THIS IS THE DISTRICT IN A NUTSHELL.
AND IN OUR FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY.
SORRY, SHAY, I DON'T WANT TO DISREGARD THE TREMENDOUS WORK THAT YOU GUYS DO IN YOUR DEPARTMENT, BUT WITHOUT HAVING TO READ EVERYTHING. AS YOU KNOW, SHAY'S DONE A REALLY GREAT JOB LETTING YOU KNOW ABOUT ALL THE DIFFERENT ACCOLADES THAT THEY'VE BEEN ABLE TO RECEIVE IN THEIR DEPARTMENT BECAUSE OF THE TREMENDOUS WORK THAT THEY DO IN TERMS OF FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY AND ALL THAT OTHER STUFF.
SO WE MADE SURE THAT WE MADE THIS PART OF OUR BOOKLET AS WELL, AND THEN BOND INFORMATION WITH A QR CODE TO FOLLOW US AND OUR UPDATES ON THE WEBSITE AS WE CONTINUE TO UPDATE THE COMMUNITY. BUT ALL IN ALL, THAT'S REALLY IT.
AND THIS IS A PART OF OUR ONGOING EFFORTS OF SHARING INFORMATION.
WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARM YOU BOARD OF TRUSTEES, WITH OUR PROGRESS.
SO YOU CAN CONTINUE TO ADVOCATE ON BEHALF OF THE STUDENTS AND THE STAFF HERE IN THIS GREAT DISTRICT.
THANK YOU. OH, ONE MORE THING.
THANK YOU BRANDON BUCKNER, OUR AMAZING GRAPHIC DESIGNER.
HE IS THE ONE THAT PUT THIS TOGETHER.
SO I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT HE IS RECOGNIZED FOR THE WORK THAT HE DID ON THIS.
MR. JAMES, YOU ARE UP NEXT WITH OUR HIGH SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION SITE LOGISTICS UPDATE.
TODAY WE WANTED TO WE KNOW WE HAD SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT SITE LOGISTICS AS FAR AS THE HIGH SCHOOL I'M JUST GOING TO START OFF WITH MY LITTLE PART FIRST HERE.
WE REALLY WORKED HARD ON THIS THIS SITE LOGISTICS PLAN.
WE'VE MET WITH THE FIRE MARSHAL AND THE CITY.
WE MET WITH THE HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL THESE GUYS BEHIND ME, BALFOUR BEATTY AND AND PBK ARCHITECTS.
THEY ARE THE ACTUAL MASTERMINDS BEHIND THIS PLAN.
KEEP IN MIND, THIS IS A IF YOU SEE SOMETHING YOU DON'T LIKE, IT CAN BE CHANGED.
WE ARE IT'S A LIVING DOCUMENT SO WE CAN CHANGE ANYTHING THAT WE NEED TO.
[01:10:01]
BUT LET ME TURN IT OVER TO THESE GUYS AND KIND OF LET THEM GIVE YOU A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF, OF HOW WE'RE GOING TO PULL THIS OFF IN 30 MONTHS WITH 02,500 KIDS.THANK YOU FOR THE INTRODUCTION, MR. JAMES. BOARD MEMBERS, MR. LAMB, THANK YOU FOR LETTING US PRESENT LOGISTICS PLANS TONIGHT.
OH, BEHIND ME IS MARK LEATHERWOOD, BY THE WAY HE'S OUR GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT.
ERIC KABEYA, GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT, AND THEN WITH PBK BRIAN SAHRMANN.
SO ERIC'S GOING TO BE THE POINTER.
OKAY. SO TO GET STARTED, WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT THIS PROJECT.
BUT WHEN YOU HAVE CHANGE, YOU WANT TO BE AS IMPACTFUL AS POSSIBLE.
THESE ARE THE EXISTING FLOOR PLANS OF THE HIGH SCHOOL.
BECAUSE WE HAVE TO HAVE A CLEAR SEPARATION BETWEEN THE STUDENTS, STAFF AND CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES.
WE'RE HAVING TO CLOSE SOME EGRESS DOORS AND CREATE SOME A NEW PATHWAY FOR EGRESS.
THESE PLANS LIKE MICKEY SAID BEFORE, WE'VE MET WITH THE TOWN OF LITTLE ELM FIRE MARSHAL.
SO THIS HAS BEEN BLESSED BY HIM.
THIS IS THE SITE LOGISTICS MAP.
THIS AREA HERE IS BASICALLY, IF YOU GO BY THE SCHOOL NOW, YOU'LL SEE US DOING GRADING, MOISTURE CONDITIONING, AND ALSO OUR OFFICE TRAILERS WILL BE IN THAT AREA.
ALL OF THE AREAS HASHED IN THE ORANGE THAT IS ACTUAL LAY DOWN AREAS.
AND ALL OF THESE AREAS WILL HAVE CONSTRUCTION FENCING AROUND THEM.
IF YOU NOTICE, LIKE THE EXISTING CLASSROOM WINGS FROM THE POWERPOINT SLIDE BEFORE IT SHOWED THOSE EXIT DOORS ON THE END BEING CLOSED BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT THE STUDENTS TO EGRESS DURING A DRILL INTO A CONSTRUCTION AREA.
SO WE HAVE THOSE AND THEY'LL BE GRAPHICS UPDATED GRAPHICS FOR THE STUDENTS AND STAFF TO GO BY.
ALSO IN YELLOW THAT IS OUR THE SCHOOL'S STAFF PARKING AND VISITOR PARKING.
I BELIEVE THERE'S SOME COORDINATION WITH MISS GENTRY.
THERE ARE SOME SOME GRAPHIC SIGNS RIGHT NOW TELLING STUDENTS OR PARENTS TO DROP OFF ON THE WEST SIDE. ALSO THE BUS LANE THE BUSSES WILL BE ENTERING OFF OF WALKER.
AND MAKING A LOOP INTO THE AREA TO PARKING LOT, THAT'S HASHED IN BLUE.
SO WE'VE MET SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE STAFF WITH LITTLE ELM ADMINISTRATION HOW, BECAUSE THE BAND, ALSO THE BAND DIRECTOR THAT THAT IS A BIG AREA FOR THE BAND TO PRACTICE.
SO, YOU KNOW, ORIGINALLY IT WAS A BIGGER AREA WE WERE TAKING.
WE DID NOT, YOU KNOW, WE WANTED TO BE FRIENDS WITH THE THE BAND DIRECTOR.
SO SO WE'RE ABLE TO TO GIVE THEM SOME MORE SPACE BACK.
AND AND I'M GOING TO LET MARK OR ERIC, IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE DELIVERIES DROP OFF.
CONSTRUCTION, DELIVERIES, SCHEDULES, AND SO THOSE ARE ALL GOING TO BE COORDINATED AROUND, OBVIOUSLY, DROP OFF AND PICKUP TIMES TO TRY AND AVOID ALL THE THE TRAFFIC FLOW PROBLEMS THERE, BECAUSE WE DID HAVE TO IT'S HARD TO SEE ON THIS DRAWING JUST BECAUSE IT'S A LITTLE BIT SMALL.
BUT THE TRAFFIC FLOW, WE HAD TO KIND OF REVAMP TRAFFIC FLOW FOR DROP OFF THE BUSSES KIDS COMING IN AND OUT, HOW WE ACCESS THE PROPERTY TO TRY AND SEPARATE THAT WORK FROM THAT TRAFFIC AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, BECAUSE AS WE ALL KNOW THAT ON A HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS THAT THINGS IT'S GOING ALL THE TIME.
SO THERE'S ALWAYS SOME KIND OF ACTIVITIES GOING ON AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.
SO WE TRY AND MINIMIZE THAT IMPACT TO THE SCHOOL.
I THINK WHAT ELSE? ANYTHING ELSE SPECIFIC ON DELIVERIES?
[01:15:11]
JUST AS I MENTIONED EARLIER, WE'VE GOT THE BLUES, THE BUS AREA, THE YELLOW STAFF PARKING.AND OF COURSE, THE PURPLE IS STUDENT PARKING.
BUT THERE'LL BE SIGNAGE UP, SO SOME IS ALREADY UP NOW, BUT WE'LL CONTINUE TO PUT SIGNS UP.
SO WE REALLY WHEN WE CREATED THIS LOGISTIC, WE CREATED, YOU KNOW, THINKING OF THE BEST POSSIBLE OUTCOME FOR THE KIDS, THE STAFF TO MAKE IT AS PAINFUL AS POSSIBLE.
YOU KNOW, WITH CONSTRUCTION, WE KNOW WE GOT A LOT OF CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC COMING UP, A BUNCH OF 18 WHEELERS, YOU KNOW, A BUNCH OF EQUIPMENT MATERIALS AND WHATNOT.
SO, LIKE MARK SAID, WE HAVE COORDINATED ALL OF THAT WITH OUR SUBCONTRACTORS TO BE DELIVERED DURING A SPECIFIC TIME, YOU KNOW, AFTER SCHOOL DROP OFF AND BEFORE SCHOOL PICKED UP TO MINIMIZE.
MIKE MR. MICKEY AND THE TRANSPORTATION DIRECTOR.
SO WE LOOKED AT ALL THE POSSIBLE ROUTE BEST ROUTE FOR STUDENTS DROP OFF, PARENTS DROP OFF.
AND BUS COMING IN AND OUT OUT OF THE SITE.
SO IT'S PLANNED THAT WE WE PUT A LOT OF, A LOT OF INPUT IN IT AND YOU KNOW, SEE HOW THAT GOES.
WE UNDERSTAND IT SOMETIMES WORKS ON PAPER.
SO AS I SAID, IT'S A LIVING DOCUMENT.
ANY QUESTIONS? I DID HAVE ONE. SO I NOTICED ON THE FIRST THIS STARTED A COUPLE WEEKS AGO, I GUESS THERE'S BEEN A LOT MORE POLICE PRESENCE HELPING OUT WITH TRAFFIC FLOW AND ALL THAT STUFF, OR, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE THAT DON'T WANT TO FOLLOW SIGNAGE OR NEED TO BETTER UNDERSTAND SIGNAGE.
IS THAT JUST GOING TO CONTINUE, OR ARE THEY HOPING THAT THERE'LL BE ENOUGH COMPLIANCE AT THAT POINT WITH THAT PEELS BACK, OR HAS IT BEEN EASY TO WORK WITH ON THAT, OR ARE THEY OFFERING ALL THE HELP NEEDED.
OVERALL, HAS THE PUBLIC BEEN PRETTY RECEPTIVE TO THAT, PARENTS AND KIDS ALIKE? WELL, THE FIRST DAY WAS INTERESTING, BUT REALLY, EVEN LAPD SAID IT RAN AS SMOOTHLY AS THEY THOUGHT IT COULD.
SO WE HAD ABOUT 4 OR 5 EXTRA OFFICERS THERE, ALL FOR LAST WEEK.
AND THEY WERE VERY IMPRESSED WITH HOW WELL IT WAS GOING.
WE'VE, WE'VE I HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY PHONE CALLS.
SO THAT IS I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT.
SO THAT WAS GOOD. BUT IT'S GONE AS SMOOTHLY AS I THINK IT COULD.
DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO ADD [INAUDIBLE].
THANK YOU. LET ME JUST SAY ONE THING IN CLOSING.
SURE. IF YOU GUYS GET ANY, YOU KNOW, BECAUSE THIS IS GOING TO BE A PROCESS.
I'M NOT GOING TO SUGARCOAT IT.
IT'S A LOT OF CONSTRUCTION GOING ON ON THIS JOB SITE.
WE'LL WE'LL DO WHATEVER WE NEED TO DO.
OUR MAIN CONCERN IS TO MINIMIZE THE ANY KIND OF DISTURBANCE THAT WE MIGHT HAVE BRING TO THE CAMPUS AND THE KIDS, BUT IT IS GOING TO BE IT'S GOING TO BE A TOUGH LITTLE RIDE HERE, BUT BECAUSE IT'S A LOT OF CONSTRUCTION.
IT'S GOING TO BE A I'VE BEEN THROUGH IT BEFORE.
[01:20:02]
SO IF YOU GUYS GET ANY COMPLAINTS, LET ME KNOW AND WE'LL HANDLE IT IMMEDIATELY.SO RECONFIRM I THINK YOU SAID THAT, BUT I RECONFIRMED THAT OUR FIRE MARSHALS SAY WE CAN STILL GET ALL OF OUR STUDENTS OUT IN THE SAME OR A SAFE AMOUNT OF TIME IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. YEAH, WE MET WITH THE FIRE MARSHAL.
THAT WAS THE FIRST PLACE WE HAD TO GO TO BEFORE WE CAN EVEN PRESENT IT TO MISS GENTRY.
SO AFTER WE PRESENTED TO MISS GENTRY, THEN WE BROUGHT IN EVERYBODY ELSE.
TRANSPORTATION, EVEN MR. LAMB. YOU KNOW, HE IT'S BEEN A VERY, YOU KNOW, IT'S BEEN A COORDINATED EFFORT TO TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN BECAUSE IT'S GOING TO BE A LOT GOING ON.
SO I JUST WANT TO JUST MAKE EVERYBODY AWARE, YOU KNOW, AND IF IT CAN BE CHANGED.
I GUESS, TO FOLLOW UP ON THAT, IS THERE HAVE THERE BEEN EXERCISES WITH THE STUDENTS TO TELL THEM WHICH WAY THEY NEED TO GO NOW, OR HOW'S THAT? SO WE HAVE A FIRE DRILL PLANNED FOR WHEN WE COME BACK FROM THANKSGIVING BREAK.
A LOT OF PEOPLE DROP OFF KIDS THERE NOW.
YEAH, THEY'RE COMING INTO THE NEIGHBORHOOD.
YEAH. SO IT'S KIND OF OVERFLOWING INTO THOSE THOSE TWO SIDE STREETS ON THAT KIND OF SOUTH SIDE.
THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.
[8. Citizen Input ]
OUR NEXT ITEM IN ORDER IS CITIZEN INPUT.DO WE HAVE ANY CITIZEN INPUT? MR. ALTMAN, YOU ARE UP. AND YOU HAVE FIVE MINUTES.
GOOD EVENING SUPERINTENDENT LAMB, PRESIDENT WATKINS, BOARD MEMBERS, AND STAFF AND NEIGHBORS.
MY NAME IS ROB ALTMAN AND I AM A COMBAT VETERAN.
I'M RETIRED ARMY OFFICER AND CURRENTLY AM A OPERATIONS EXECUTIVE IN THE FINANCIAL INDUSTRY.
I AM A RESIDENT OF FRISCO IN DENTON COUNTY, AND TONIGHT I'VE BEEN TOUCHED BY WHAT I'VE SEEN HERE.
AND THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THAT CLOCK UP THERE.
THAT'S GREAT. I CAN TURN MY PHONE OFF.
AS A SCOUT MASTER OF LITTLE ELM, TROOP 45, BRAVO AND GOLF FOR BOYS AND GIRLS, IF YOU WILL.
I GET THE OPPORTUNITY ON A WEEK TO WEEK BASIS TO SEE SOME GREAT LITTLE ELM STUDENTS.
A YOUNG MAN WHO IN 10TH GRADE IS TAKING CALCULUS.
AND WHEN I WAS IN 10TH GRADE, IF YOU WERE IN ALGEBRA TWO, YOU WERE DOING GREAT.
ANOTHER YOUNG MAN WHO THIS SUMMER IS IN ONE OF YOUR PROGRAMS WHERE HE IS LOOKING AT BECOMING A CYBER PROFESSIONAL AND HIS DREAM IS TO WORK AT THE NSA.
HE CAME TO SCOUTS AND SHOWED ME HIS GOOGLE CYBER SECURITY CERTIFICATE AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR.
AND THEN THERE'S A YOUNG MAN WHO, LIKE, ONE OF THE YOUNG PEOPLE YOU ACKNOWLEDGED TONIGHT HAS AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF VARIABLES AGAINST HIM, FROM HIS FAMILY LIFE AND SOCIOECONOMIC SITUATION AND MAYBE EVEN SOME LEARNING DIFFICULTIES.
AND YET HE IS EITHER IN HIS SECOND OR THIRD YEAR IN THE WELDING PROGRAM.
[01:25:04]
SO WHY DO I TELL YOU ABOUT THAT WHEN I'M UP HERE SOLICITING YOUR YOUR VOTES FOR DENTON CENTRAL APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD MEMBER? WELL, BECAUSE WITH YOU AND THIS SCHOOL DISTRICT, IT'S PERSONAL FOR ME.AND I THINK IN THE FINANCIAL INDUSTRY, WHEN WE TALK ABOUT CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE AND WHAT PRODUCT ARE WE GIVING THE CUSTOMER, I THINK THAT'S WHAT I WILL ADVOCATE FOR YOU ON AT DCAD, AND THAT IS WORKING WITH THE CHIEF APPRAISER TO ENSURE THAT WHEN HE ASKS FOR PEOPLE TO PUT IN SEATS TO IMPROVE THE PROCESS, THAT I ASK HIM WHAT THE NUMBERS LOOK LIKE.
WHAT DOES THAT CAPACITY PLAN LOOK LIKE, HOW MANY HOURS A DAY? AND ALL OF THOSE GRANULAR QUESTIONS THAT SOMEBODY WITH AN OPERATIONS BACKGROUND WOULD ASK.
IN ANY EVENT, THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME OBSERVE YOUR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING TONIGHT.
AND I WANT TO COMMEND YOU BECAUSE AS A STUDENT OF LEADERSHIP, OVER 25 YEARS IN THE MILITARY AND NOW BEING IN THE CORPORATE AND PRIVATE SECTOR, I LOVE TO SEE POSITIVE LEADERSHIP ENVIRONMENTS.
AND THIS MADE ME HAPPY TONIGHT, Y'ALL.
BUT THIS WAS POSITIVE TONIGHT.
AND PRESIDENT WATKINS AND SUPERINTENDENT LAMB, ALL OF YOU HAVE FOSTERED A POSITIVE ENVIRONMENT.
AND AS A AS, AS A STUDENT WORKING ON MY PHD COURSEWORK, I DO HAVE ONE QUESTION FOR MISS BROWN.
WHY IS IT AN UNFORTUNATE THAT SOMEBODY WOULD HAVE GONE TO TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY? IN ANY EVENT, THAT'S IT.
WE'RE A BOARD DIVIDED ON THAT, MR. ALTMAN. WE'RE A BOARD DIVIDED ON THE A&M/UT ALRIGHTY.
OUR NEXT ITEM IN ORDER IS THE APPROVAL OF MINUTES.

WE NEED TO VOTE ON THAT. ALL IN FAVOR, SAY AYE.
WE HAVE 185 VOTES FOR THE DENTON COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT.
ALL IN FAVOR OF ALL 185 GOING TO MR. ALTMAN? IS THERE A MOTION? SO MOVED. MR. BURTON MADE A MOTION. IS THERE A SECOND? SECOND. OH, SORRY.
WE'LL GO WITH MR. BEBER MAKING THE SECOND.
IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE YOUR HAND.
WE'RE BURNING THROUGH THESE GUYS.
ITEM E, CONSIDER THE APPROVAL OF THE FURNITURE VENDOR FOR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LAKEWOOD VILLAGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FURNITURE PACKAGE ONE, MR. JAMES. ALL RIGHT.
WE HAD BUILT THE SCHOOL IN A WHILE, SO WE KIND OF WANTED TO DRUM UP SOME COMPETITION, MAKE SURE WE'RE GETTING THE BEST VALUE FOR THE NEW FURNITURE PACKAGES THAT WE HAVE.
SO THE WE DID HAVE A COMMITTEE THAT THAT THAT WENT OVER ALL OF THE, THE PACKAGES THAT WE HAD BIDS THAT WE GOT IN THERE WAS NINE THAT BID ON THE PACKAGE ONE.
THIS WILL BE PAID OUT OF THE PREVIOUSLY APPROVED LAKEWOOD VILLAGE PROJECT BUDGET.
THAT BEING SAID, THE ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS THE APPROVAL OF THIS VENDOR AND COST AS PRESENTED, AND AUTHORIZE THE SUPERINTENDENT OR HIS DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE THE REQUIRED CONTRACT DOCUMENTS.
IS THERE A MOTION? SO MOVED. MR. BEBER MADE THE MOTION. IS THERE A SECOND? SECOND. MR. OLSON MADE THE SECOND. IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE YOUR HAND.
MR. JAMES, YOU'RE UP WITH FURNITURE PACKAGE NUMBER TWO.
SO THE FIRST PACKAGE WAS ACTUAL CLASSROOM FURNITURE.
I'M SORRY I DIDN'T MENTION THAT.
THE SECOND PACKAGE IS OFFICE FURNITURE FOR LAKEWOOD VILLAGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
[01:35:01]
WE DID HAVE FIVE VENDORS TO BID ON THIS PACKAGE RIGHT HERE.WE ENDED UP CHOOSING WILSON BELL HOUSE INTERIORS, LLC FOR THIS PROJECT RIGHT HERE AT A COST OF $118,567.24.
ALSO WOULD BE PAID OUT OF THE PREVIOUSLY APPROVED LAKEWOOD VILLAGE ELEMENTARY PROJECT BUDGET.
THAT BEING SAID, THE ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS THE APPROVAL OF THIS VENDOR AND COST AS PRESENTED AND AUTHORIZE SUPERINTENDENT OR HIS DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS.
IS THERE A MOTION TO APPROVE FURNITURE PACKAGE NUMBER TWO? SO MOVED. MR. BEBER MADE THE MOTION.
MR. MONTEMAYOR MADE THE SECOND.

ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE YOUR HAND.
AND WE NEED TO I'M GOING TO ASK PERMISSION TO CALL FOR AMENDMENT.
OUR VOTING STRENGTH IS NOT 185.
WE WILL CONSIDER A MOTION TO AMEND OUR VOTING STRENGTH FROM 185 TO 174.
IS THERE A SECOND? I'LL SECOND.
ANY QUESTIONS? ALL IN FAVOR RAISE YOUR HAND.
AND WITH THAT, WE ARE MOVING INTO THE CONSENT AGENDA.
[11.C. Consider approval of Little Elm ISD Expenditures over $100,000 Summary Report]
IS THERE ANY.DO WE WANT TO PULL ANYTHING OUT OF CONSENT? MADAM PRESIDENT, YES, I'D LIKE TO ASK ITEM NUMBER C TO BE PULLED SO THAT WE COULD DISCUSS JUST FOR A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME.
IS THERE A SECOND? SECOND. OKAY.
HE WANTS TO PULL IT. OKAY, MR. WYSE, YOU ARE UP.
ITEM C IS OPERATIONAL EXPENDITURES OVER $100,000.
AND THAT'S FOR THE SFCC CONTRACT.
IS THERE A LOT OF OUR HVAC, PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL WORK KIND OF AS NEEDED IS OUR AGING HVAC AND STUFF GETS REPAIRED AND FIXED AND PLUMBING ISSUES THAT WE HAVE.
THE QUESTIONS I HAVE I THINK WE NEED TO MAKE A MOTION.
I'LL SECOND IT. MR. BURTON MADE A SECOND. OKAY.
MR. BURTON, IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? PLEASE, JUST A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS.
FIRST, MY FIRST QUESTION IS, IS THIS AMOUNT OF $300,000? IS THAT CONSISTENT WITH THE HISTORY OF WHAT WE'VE NEEDED FOR THESE REPAIRS FOR A SCHOOL YEAR? FOR DISTRICT WIDE, YEAH MIKE, YOU WANT TO JUMP IN ON THAT? IT'S ACTUALLY AROUND THAT RANGE.
SOMETIMES IT VARIES A LITTLE BIT HIGHER, SOMETIMES A LITTLE LOWER.
BUT THAT IS AGAIN, THIS IS I THINK JUST SO THAT WE HAVE THAT AVAILABLE.
YEAH. IT'S NOT LIKE IT'S A THAT WAS MY NEXT QUESTION.
THIS IS GOING TO BE IS THIS EXPECTED TO BE THE MAXIMUM OR WILL WE COME BACK HERE TO ASK FOR MORE POSSIBLY? THAT'S NOT A GUARANTEE.
OKAY. WE DON'T WANT TO ASK FOR MORE RIGHT NOW.
THAT'S WHAT WE'RE ASSUMING IS OKAY.
ONE OTHER THING ON THAT ON THE SPREADSHEET HERE IT SAYS EFFECTIVE DATE OF 11/19/2024 AND THE EXPIRATION DATE OF 11/18/ 2025. BUT THEN IN THE DESCRIPTION, IT MENTIONS THAT GENERAL REPAIRS HVAC, PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL WORK AS NEEDED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE 24-25 FISCAL YEAR. DOES THAT EXTEND INTO NEXT, NEXT NOVEMBER AS WELL? I'M NOT AWARE OF THAT. I WOULD ASSUME IT WOULD BE FOR THE REST OF THIS.
FOR THE REST OF THIS FISCAL YEAR.
WE CAN WE CAN MAKE SURE WE CAN UPDATE THE.
YEAH. CORRECT THE EXPIRATION DATE ON THAT.
YES, SIR. REALLY FOR THE REMAINDER OF THIS SCHOOL YEAR.
RIGHT. THE END OF THE FISCAL YEAR.
OKAY. THANK YOU. APPRECIATE THAT.
THANK YOU. THANK YOU. ALL IN FAVOR OF AYE.
ALL IN FAVOR OF OF APPROVING THE CONSENT ITEM SAY AYE.
RAISE YOUR HAND. ALL OPPOSED? OKAY. MOTION CARRIES.
FOR THE REST OF THE CONSENT AGENDA.
[11. Consent Agenda ]
IS THERE A MOTION? SO MOVED. MR. OLSON MADE THE MOTION.IS THERE A SECOND? SECOND. MR. BEBER MADE A SECOND.
IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? ALL IN FAVOR OF APPROVING THE CONSENT AGENDA RAISE YOUR HAND.
NEXT ITEM IN ORDER IS BOARD PRESIDENT COMMENTS.
[12. Board President Comments ]
[01:40:04]
FIRST OF ALL, I'D LIKE TO THANK OUR CABINET FOR STAYING LATE, AND I WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME OUR NEW FAMILY MEMBERS AND LEADERSHIP ROLES TO OUR FAMILY.CONGRATULATIONS. AND I WANT TO TALK ABOUT OUR COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT AND THE DISTRICT AS A WHOLE.
AND THE GREAT JOB THEY DID WITH OUR 633 RUN.
AND THEN FOR OUR FAMILY, WE ALSO HAD THE GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO GO SEE BOTH OUR BAND PERFORM AS THEY MOVED OUT OF THE DISTRICT LEVEL AND HEAR OUR CHOIR PERFORM AT A COUPLE OF EVENTS AROUND TOWN, INCLUDING THE VETERANS BANQUET.
OUR FINE ARTS PROGRAM HAS DONE AN AMAZING JOB.
CONGRATULATIONS ON BEING BOTH A GREAT STUDENT AND AN ATHLETE.
AND WITH THAT, HAPPY THANKSGIVING! WE WON'T MEET AGAIN BEFORE OUR THANKSGIVING BREAK.
[13. Board Comments ]
MR. BEBER YOU'RE NEXT! OH WELL, THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR STAYING LATE.IT'S ALWAYS GREAT SEEING ALL THE STUDENT BODY OUT HERE FOR THE STUDENT OF THE MONTH.
JUST A REMINDER NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY AND I HOPE EVERYBODY ENJOYS THEIR THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY.
THANK YOU. I'LL TAKE A LITTLE MORE TIME THAN I NORMALLY DO.
I WANT TO THANK THE DISTRICT AND SPECIFICALLY SONIA FLORES FOR MAKING OUR SCHOOL BUILDINGS AVAILABLE FOR THE ELECTION ON ELECTION DAY.
ON TOP OF THAT, I REALLY APPRECIATE ALL OF THE TEACHERS IN THE DISTRICT THAT ARE TEACHING OUR, OUR STUDENTS THE IMPORTANCE THAT THAT WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE, DOWN TO I HAVE A GRANDDAUGHTER THAT'S IN PRE-K.
AND THEY EVEN HAD A LITTLE ELECTION THEMSELVES AND AND MISS BRIDE, WHO IS THE TEACHER OF MY GRANDDAUGHTER, SAID SHE'S SHE SHE WAS VOTED VICE PRESIDENT, BUT SHE'S THE ONLY PERSON THAT DIDN'T VOTE FOR HERSELF.
SO I GUESS I NEED TO TALK TO HER ABOUT HOW POLITICS REALLY WORKS.
BUT I REALLY DO I REALLY THANK THE DISTRICT FOR ALLOWING TO USE THE BUILDINGS FOR THE VOTES.
IT REALLY MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE.
I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU, I WAS I SERVED AS AN ELECTION JUDGE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL THIS YEAR, AGAIN.
AND I DO WANT TO GIVE KUDOS TO MISS ESPINOZA, MRS. PIERCE, AND ESPECIALLY TO TO GABE JONES.
NOT IN THE MORNING. SO IT'S A LONG DAY FOR A JUDGE, BUT EVERYONE DID EVERYTHING THEY COULD.
I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE A LITTLE DIFFICULT DAY, BECAUSE I HAD A POLL WATCHER THAT WAS THERE, AND WE WERE IN THE LIBRARY AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, AND THIS LADY COMES UP AND SHE'S THE POLL WATCHER, AND SHE GOES, YOU KNOW, WE MIGHT WANT TO MOVE THAT BOOK.
IT WAS J.D. VANCE'S BOOK SITTING ON THE COUNTER, WHICH WASN'T IN OUR AREA, BUT YOU COULD SEE IT.
SO I THOUGHT, THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG DAY, BUT IT TURNED OUT IT WASN'T.
ANOTHER THING THAT I REALLY WAS IMPRESSED WITH, AND I DIDN'T CATCH THE TEACHER'S NAME, BUT SHE BROUGHT A GROUP OF 10 OR 12 STUDENTS THAT ALL HAD SOME CHALLENGES TO SEE THE PROCESS.
AND I GOT TO BE A TEACHER FOR A FEW MINUTES TO TEACH THEM ABOUT WHAT'S GOING ON AT THE POLLS.
AND I HOPE WITH OUR OTHER FACILITIES THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAD A CHANCE FOR THE STUDENTS TO SEE THAT AND TO LEARN THAT AND TO GET PREPARED SO THAT THEY CAN CAST THEIR VOTES WHEN THEY TURN OLD ENOUGH TOO.
BUT I JUST THANK EVERYONE IN THE DISTRICT THAT MADE IT POSSIBLE AT ALL THE LOCATIONS.
I THINK WE HAD FOUR LOCATIONS.
CORRECT. AND AGAIN, SONIA, THANK YOU FOR GETTING ALL THAT ARRANGED.
JUST WANT TO WISH EVERYONE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING.
TAKE THE TIME TO REST UP AND RE-ENERGIZE, AND COME BACK AND FINISH OFF THE REST OF THE SEMESTER.
WELL, I ALSO JUST WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR FOR STAYING WITH US.
YOU KNOW, TAKING TIME OUT FROM FROM THEIR, THEIR FAMILIES AND EVERYTHING TO TO HAVE THESE MEETINGS.
[01:45:02]
I DON'T HAVE MUCH TO SAY. JUST WANT TO, YOU KNOW, GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO OUR BAND AND DRUMLINE, IN PARTICULAR DRUMLINE.I ACTUALLY HAD A LIST OF THE COMPETITIONS THAT THEY PLACED HIGHLY IN, AND I LEFT ON MY DESK AT HOME, BUT THEY HAD A VERY SUCCESSFUL YEAR THEY FINISHED YOU KNOW, IN THE TOP CATEGORIES OR, YOU KNOW, TOP FINISHES IN THEIR CATEGORIES MULTIPLE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, INCLUDING ON A NATIONAL LEVEL.
AND OUR BAND ALSO, YOU KNOW, MADE IT AS FAR AS THEY HAVE, AND AS FAR AS I CAN TELL IN THE LAST FUTURE, WE ALL WISH THEY WOULD HAVE GONE A LITTLE FURTHER IN THAT LAST COMPETITION.
SO WE HAVE THAT GOING FOR US AS WELL AS A LOT OF OTHER THINGS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.
SO I WANT TO THANK EVERYBODY FOR THAT.
