MISS MARY WATKINS. MR. KEN BEBER. HERE. MR. JEFF BURTON. HERE. MR. ALEJANDRO FLORES. HERE. ALRIGHTY. [6. Superintendent Spotlight ] UP NEXT ON THE AGENDA IS THE SUPERINTENDENT SPOTLIGHT, AND WE ARE STARTING WITH THE LEADERS OF THE PACK, MISS BROWN, IT IS YOUR TURN. GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT WATKINS BOARD OF TRUSTEES, SUPERINTENDENT LAMB, IT IS OUR GREAT PLEASURE. THE HUMAN RESOURCE SERVICES DEPARTMENT STARTED THIS INITIATIVE LAST SCHOOL YEAR. THE LEADERS OF THE PACK WE KNOW THAT THERE ARE MANY, MANY, MANY WONDERFUL EDUCATORS IN OUR DISTRICT. AND SO WE HAVE, FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW NOW, PUT OUT THE CALL TO OUR STAFF, TO OUR PARENTS TO SUBMIT NOMINATIONS FOR LEADERS OF THE PACK WE HAVE ALREADY THIS SCHOOL YEAR, WE'RE ONLY ABOUT A MONTH INTO THE SCHOOL YEAR, AND WE'VE ALREADY RECEIVED DOZENS AND DOZENS OF NOMINATIONS FOR LEADERS OF THE PACK. MANY OF THOSE LEADERS OF THE PACK HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECOGNIZED ON THEIR CAMPUSES. BUT TONIGHT WE HAVE CHOSEN TWO WHO TWO LEADERS OF THE PACK, WHO HAVE JUST REALLY GONE FAR ABOVE AND FAR BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY TO RECOGNIZE HERE AT TONIGHT'S BOARD MEETING. SO WE'LL START WITH MISS ABIGAIL STEVENSON FROM PRESTWICK ELEMENTARY. SHE IS ONE OF OUR LEADERS OF THE PACK THAT WE'RE RECOGNIZING IN THIS SEPTEMBER BOARD MEETING. AND WE'LL START WITH WATCHING THE VIDEO. I'VE SEEN HER TRANSFORM HER CLASSROOM INTO AN ITALIAN PIZZERIA TO GET HER STUDENTS TO UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPTS OF FRACTIONS AND MATH CONCEPTS. ALSO THIS YEAR, SHE AND HER CO-TEACHERS MADE THE POTATO OLYMPICS DURING FOR THEIR SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS. JUST GET THEM TO UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPTS OF THE SCIENCE TOOLS THEY'LL BE USING THIS YEAR. SHE IS VERY IN TUNE WITH HER STUDENTS AND AS A TEAM LEADER, AND SHE I JUST SEE HOW SHE JUST EQUIPS HER STUDENTS TO SUCCEED WHILE ALSO HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE. SHE JUST HAS SUCH A GREAT LOVE FOR WHAT SHE DOES, AND IT SHOWS IN EVERYTHING SHE DOES IN THE CLASSROOM. AND THIS IS WHY I NOMINATED MRS. STEVENSON. HI. I HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF SPEAKING ABOUT ABIGAIL STEVENSON FOR THE LEADER OF THE PACK AWARD. I'M SO FORTUNATE TO HAVE MY CHILD IN HER CLASS THIS YEAR, AND SHE DOES SUCH A GREAT JOB HOLDING THE KIDS ACCOUNTABLE AND MAKING SURE THERE'S HIGH EXPECTATIONS WHILE CREATING ENGAGING LESSONS AND MAKING SCHOOL FUN FOR THEM. IT IS A PLEASURE TO RECOGNIZE MRS. STEVENSON AS A LEADER OF THE PACK FOR LITTLE ELM ISD. WE'RE THRILLED THAT SHE'S REPRESENTING PRESTWICK ELEMENTARY. MRS. STEVENSON HAS BEEN A TEACHER ON THIS CAMPUS ALL FOUR YEARS THAT I'VE BEEN THE PRINCIPAL, TWO OF THOSE YEARS SHE SPENT IN FIFTH GRADE, AND TWO OF THOSE YEARS SHE SPENT IN THIRD GRADE. SHE ALWAYS HAS FORMER STUDENTS THAT COME BACK TO VISIT HER AND EACH MORNING [00:05:06] SHE'S ONE OF THOSE TEACHERS THAT LEAVES QUITE AN IMPRESSION ON STUDENTS, SO THEY'RE CONSTANTLY WANTING TO VISIT HER AND CHECK IN AND SAY HI. I'M SURE SOME OF THOSE REASONS THAT THEY WANT TO DO THAT IS BECAUSE OF THE ENGAGING AND INTERACTIVE LESSONS THAT SHE HAS TAUGHT OVER THE YEARS TO HER STUDENTS. ALSO, THE CONNECTIONS AND RELATIONSHIPS THAT SHE MAKES WITH HER STUDENTS LAST A LIFETIME. WE ARE THRILLED TO RECOGNIZE MRS. STEVENSON AS A LEADER OF THE PACK FOR PRESTWICK ELEMENTARY. SO, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IF YOU JOIN ME IN A ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO RECOGNIZE MISS ABIGAIL STEVENSON. [APPLAUSE] CONGRATULATIONS. AS MISS WATKINS AND MR. LAMB TAKE A PICTURE WITH MISS STEVENSON. A LITTLE INTERESTING INFORMATION ABOUT HER AGAIN. SHE'S AT PRESTWICK ELEMENTARY. SHE TEACHES CURRENTLY THIRD GRADE MATH AND SCIENCE. SHE'S AT THE START OF HER SIXTH YEAR WITH US HERE IN LITTLE ELM ISD. HER VERY FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT TEACHING ARE WHEN STUDENTS HAVE THEIR MOMENT WHILE LEARNING SOMETHING NEW. MISS STEVENSON'S FAMILY IS IN THE AUDIENCE, HER SON AND HER HUSBAND. IF YOU WILL JOIN HER HERE IN THE FRONT, WE'LL GET A PICTURE WITH YOU AS WELL. OH SO PRECIOUS. WHEN MISS STEVENSON IS NOT WORKING, HER HOBBIES ARE COOKING, BAKING AND CRAFTING. ANOTHER LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT MISS STEVENSON IS THAT SHE STARTED AT PRESTWICK HERE IN LITTLE ELM ISD, STRAIGHT OUT OF COLLEGE, AND SHE HAS SPENT HER ENTIRE EDUCATION CAREER HERE IN OUR DISTRICT. THANKS, MISS STEVENSON, FOR YOUR HARD WORK AND BEING A LEADER OF THE PACK. [APPLAUSE] NEXT BOARD OF TRUSTEES. MR. LAMB, WE'D LIKE TO RECOGNIZE OUR 2ND SEPTEMBER LEADER OF THE PACK, WHICH IS MISS HAILEY ADAMS FROM LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL AND WE'LL WATCH THAT VIDEO NOW. AS A PARENT AND A TEACHER, I'M SO THANKFUL THAT I HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO NOMINATE SOMEONE FOR THE LEADER OF THE PACK AWARD, MISS HAILEY ADAMS. SHE HAS BEEN SO INSTRUMENTAL IN OUR FAMILY. AND I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU. SHE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TEACH ALL THREE OF MY KIDDOS. ALL THREE OF THEM WERE IN CHOIR, AND DURING ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT TIMES IN OUR LIFE, SHE WAS THERE FOR OUR FAMILY. A FEW YEARS AGO, DURING THE HEIGHT OF COVID, MY HUSBAND WAS HOSPITALIZED AND PUT ON A VENTILATOR AND ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE I HEARD FROM WAS MISS ADAMS. SHE CALLED ME ON THE PHONE, SHE AND MISS LEWIS, AND THEY JUST REACHED OUT. WANTED TO SEE WHAT THEY COULD DO TO HELP. THEY OFFERED TO COACH MY MIDDLE SON THROUGH THE ALL-REGION PROCESS VIA ZOOM, AND THEY JUST THEIR LOVE JUST CONTINUED TO SHOW THROUGH THAT WHOLE PROCESS. WHEN MY HUSBAND, HE DID SURVIVE AND HE CAME OFF THE VENTILATOR, THEY PLANNED A SPECIAL SURPRISE FOR HIM. THEY HAD TWO OF MY KIDDOS READ A TRIBUTE TO HIM AT THE END OF THE YEAR CONCERT, AND THEN THEY PERFORMED HIS FAVORITE CHORAL PIECE AT THE CONCERT, AND IT JUST MEANT A LOT THAT SOMEONE WOULD GO ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR STUDENTS WHEN IT WASN'T REQUIRED. AND SO THERE ARE SO MANY MORE STORIES I COULD SHARE. BUT I JUST WANT TO SAY MORE THAN ANYTHING MISS ADAMS, THIS IS WHY I'VE CHOSEN YOU AS LEADER OF THE PACK BECAUSE YOU ARE TRULY ONE OF LITTLE ELM'S FINEST. I WAS SO NERVOUS TO START HERE IN LITTLE ELM AFTER NINE YEARS IN EDUCATION IN A DIFFERENT DISTRICT. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME STARTING NEW. MISS ADAMS ACTUALLY MET ME UP HERE OVER THE SUMMER TO INTRODUCE ME TO MY ROOM AND MY SPACE, AND IT NEEDED A LOT OF CLEANING. RATHER THAN JUST LET ME IN AND GET ME MY KEYS. SHE STAYED WITH ME ALL DAY. SHE HELPED ME CLEAN THE ROOM. SHE SPENT A LONG TIME, ONE ON ONE, TALKING TO ME, TELLING ME ABOUT THE PROGRAM, ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT, TEACHING ME THE ROPES. SHE IS FRIENDLY AND KIND AND INTELLIGENT AND SHE JUST TAKES CARE OF EVERYONE AROUND HER. SHE'S AN AMAZING LEADER, WHICH IS WHY I NOMINATED HAILEY ADAMS FOR LEADER OF THE PACK. I WAS SO EXCITED TO HEAR THAT HAILEY ADAMS WAS NOMINATED AS THE LEADER OF THE PACK THIS MONTH. SHE IS A TRUE BLESSING FOR OUR CAMPUS. I LIKE TO CALL HER OUR CHEERLEADER. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT'S STUDENTS OR STAFF OR COMMUNITY MEMBERS. SHE IS HERE FOR YOUR SUCCESS AND SHE'LL BUILD YOU UP AND CHEER YOU ON EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. I LOVE THAT SHE HOLDS STUDENTS TO HIGH EXPECTATIONS, BUT BUILDS THOSE REALLY DEEP RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM SO THAT THEY WORK FOR HER AND THEY MEET THE EXPECTATIONS THAT SHE [00:10:06] SETS FORWARD. THANKS, HAILEY, FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO AND CONGRATULATIONS. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, A ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR MISS HAILEY ADAMS, OUR LEADER OF THE PACK. [APPLAUSE] THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH. JUST A FEW INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT MISS ADAMS. SHE IS OUR HEAD CHOIR DIRECTOR AND FINE ARTS DEPARTMENT CHAIR AT LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL. SHE HAS BEEN IN LITTLE ELM ISD FOR EIGHT YEARS. HER FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT TEACHING IS SHE LOVES TEACHING STUDENTS BECAUSE IT ALLOWS HER TO INSPIRE AND GUIDE THEM THROUGH THEIR OWN LEARNING JOURNEYS, HELPING THEM DISCOVER THEIR STRENGTHS AND PASSIONS AND WATCHING THEM GROW NOT ONLY ACADEMICALLY BUT ALSO PERSONALLY BRINGS A SENSE OF FULFILLMENT. AND THIS IS MISS ADAMS FAMILY JOINING HER. TAKE A PICTURE WITH THEM AS WELL. WHEN MISS ADAMS ISN'T WORKING, SHE ENJOYS SPENDING TIME WITH HER FAMILY AND THEIR PETS. THANK YOU SO MUCH, MISS ADAMS. WE'RE PROUD TO RECOGNIZE YOU AS A LEADER OF THE PACK. CONGRATULATIONS. [APPLAUSE] OH, GOSH. NO. IF YOU DIDN'T HEAR HIM, HE SAID THEY WERE GOING TO SING A SELECTION, BUT WE'LL PASS. I DO WANT TO GIVE A SPECIAL THANKS TO ROWDY GRANADO. HE'S BEEN HELPING US WITH THESE VIDEO PACKAGES FOR LEADERS OF THE PACK NOW GOING ON TWO YEARS. AND HE'S VERY TALENTED, AS YOU CAN SEE. SO THANKS, ROWDY. THAT CONCLUDES THIS PORTION OF THE SUPERINTENDENT SPOTLIGHT. MR. BARTLETT, YOU ARE UP NEXT WITH OUR STUDENTS OF THE MONTH. I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS. I'M SO EXCITED. THESE KIDS ARE BACK. PRESIDENT WATKINS, BOARD, MR. LAMB. THANK YOU ALL FOR ALLOWING US THE OPPORTUNITY TO HONOR SOME KIDS TONIGHT. SO THIS IS A GREAT PORTION OF THE EVENING. SO WE START OFF WITH OUR ELEMENTARY FOLKS AND THEN WE GO TO OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL FOLKS. AND THEN WE DO OUR HIGH SCHOOL FOLKS AT THE END. WE HAVE A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE CAMPUS THAT TALKS ABOUT THE CHILDREN, BECAUSE I DON'T FEEL LIKE I HAVE EARNED THAT RIGHT. THE CAMPUS GETS THAT CHANCE BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW THE KID THAT WELL. BUT MISS, BUT WE ALWAYS HAVE SOMEBODY HERE THAT REPRESENTS THAT CHILD. AND WE'LL DO THE SAME THING. WE'LL GET PHOTOS UP HERE WITH MR. LAMB AND AND MISS WATKINS AS WELL. SO WE'LL START WITH BRENT ELEMENTARY AND ASHELEY, YOU WANT TO COME ON UP. OKAY. I'LL COME OUT HERE. OKAY. I'M REPRESENTING BRENT ELEMENTARY THIS EVENING, AND WE HAVE EMMA ATWELL. SHE WANTS TO GO AHEAD AND COME ON DOWN. AND I HAVE QUITE A BIT TO SAY ABOUT HER FROM HER TEACHERS. SO EMMA HAS TRULY EARNED THIS TITLE OF STUDENT OF THE MONTH THROUGH HER OUTSTANDING DEDICATION, POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE. SHE CONSISTENTLY BRINGS ENTHUSIASM TO THE CLASSROOM, EAGERLY PARTICIPATES IN DISCUSSIONS, AND ALWAYS STRIVES TO DO HER BEST. HER KINDNESS TOWARD CLASSMATES AND HER WILLINGNESS TO HELP OTHERS DEMONSTRATES HER EXCEPTIONAL CHARACTER AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS. BEYOND HER ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS, SHE EMBODIES AND VALUES RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, AND PERSEVERANCE. EMMA IS A SHINING EXAMPLE OF WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A MODEL LOBO, AND WE ARE SO PROUD OF HER ACCOMPLISHMENTS. I CAN KEEP GOING. THIS IS FROM COACH NEWTON. EMMA IS A DEFINITION OF A TRUE LEADER AT BRENT ELEMENTARY. SHE WORKS HARD AT EVERYTHING SHE IS ASKED TO DO AND SHOWS KINDNESS TO EVERY KID THAT SHE COMES IN CONTACT WITH. SHE'S VERY DESERVING OF THE FIFTH GRADE STUDENT OF THE MONTH. MISS RIKER SAYS EMMA GIVES 100% IN EVERYTHING SHE DOES. SHE'S A MODEL OF A LEADER IN CHOIR AND IS A KIND FRIEND TO THOSE AROUND HER. EMMA IS THE SWEETEST, DEFINITELY A LEADER, GREAT HELPER, AND ALWAYS HELPING OTHERS. A VERY CREATIVE ARTIST AND ALWAYS PUTTING FORTH AMAZING WORK. YOU. THANK YOU. [00:15:04] [APPLAUSE] MS. SO YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR THE MOST FROM HER ART TEACHER, MR. JARRETT. THAT'S GOING TO COME FIRST, AND THEN WE'LL TALK ABOUT SOME OF THE OTHER TEACHERS. BUT THIS IS FROM MR. JARRETT, WHO TEACHES HER ADVANCED ART. SOME FOLKS ARE PLAYING CHESS, WHILE OTHERS ARE PLAYING CHECKERS. THE KIDS HAD TO BECOME MORE FAMILIAR WITH CHARCOAL BEFORE THEY STARTED THEIR PROJECT, AND INSTEAD OF MESSING AROUND WITH SOMETHING SMALL AND RANDOM, EMILY DID A PORTRAIT THAT TURNED OUT INCREDIBLE. HER AMBITION AND WORK ETHIC IS THROUGH THE ROOF HERE AT STRIKE, AND MAKES HER MORE THAN DESERVING AND QUALIFIED FOR STUDENT OF THE MONTH. EMILY IS AND WILL BE ONE OF THE MOST TALENTED YET HUMBLE, KIND AND CARING INDIVIDUALS THAT WILL EVER COME THROUGH STRIKE MIDDLE SCHOOL. SHE IS STRIKE'S FIRST TWO TIME PLATINUM MEDAL WINNING ARTIST AT THE JUNIOR VASE STATE COMPETITION. AGAIN, SHE'S AN EIGHTH GRADER. [APPLAUSE] WHICH MEANS WE HAVEN'T EVEN GOT TO THAT COMPETITION YET THAT WILL BE IN THE SPRING. SO THAT'S TWICE AS A AS A SEVENTH GRADER. SO SHE'S STILL GOT MORE TO COME. DUE TO HER RELENTLESS WORK ETHIC, OBSERVATION SKILLS, AND POWERFUL IMAGINATION, SHE'S DEVELOPED AN EARLY, MASTERFUL SKILL SET, YET USES HER EXPERIENCE AND ABILITY TO ENCOURAGE AND INSPIRE OTHERS, WHICH UPLIFTS THE ENTIRE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT. I'M SO INCREDIBLY PROUD TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HELP REFINE AND GUIDE HER. I KNOW THAT WITH ALL OF HER VAST TALENT AND AMBITION, SHE'LL ULTIMATELY CREATE A WONDERFUL LIFE FOR HERSELF AND MAKE HER FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND ALL OF LITTLE ELM PROUD. THAT'S JUST ONE TEACHER. MISS STEWART, HER MATH TEACHER, EMILY, IS A BRIGHT, HARDWORKING INDIVIDUAL THAT STRIVES FOR SUCCESS EVERY SINGLE DAY. AND IT'S WORKING. EVERYBODY IS VOTING FOR OSCAR. [00:35:02] EVERYONE LOVES HIM. MISS LAMBERT, SCIENCE TEACHER. THESE ATTRIBUTES HIGHLIGHT WHY OSCAR ZEPEDA IS TRULY DESERVING OF THE STUDENT OF THE MONTH RECOGNITION. HARDWORKING, HE CONSISTENTLY GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND IN ALL HIS ACADEMIC AND EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES POSITIVE ATTITUDE APPROACHES CHALLENGES WITH A CAN DO ATTITUDE AND INSPIRES OTHERS TO STAY MOTIVATED AND HELPFUL. ALWAYS WILLING TO LEND A HAND TO CLASSMATES AND CONTRIBUTE TO A SUPPORTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT. MISS LAMBERT SAYS THANK YOU OSCAR FOR YOUR DEDICATION TO LEARNING. WE ARE PROUD OF YOU. MR. OLMSTEAD, HIS BAND DIRECTOR, MISS ROLFE, AND I HAVE HAD THE GREAT FORTUNE OF HAVING OSCAR IN BAND GOING ON THREE YEARS NOW. OSCAR IS A TRUE TEAM PLAYER AND IS SUPPORTIVE AND POSITIVE WITH HIS CLASSMATES. HE CARES TREMENDOUSLY ABOUT EXECUTING QUALITY WORK AND CONTINUOUSLY ATTEMPTS ASSIGNMENTS TO IMPROVE HIS PERFORMANCE ABILITIES. HIS EAGER ATTITUDE IS CONTAGIOUS IN THE TRUMPET SECTION AND HE SAYS, GO, OSCAR. [LAUGHTER] MISS BALLINGER, HIS MATH TEACHER, SAYS OSCAR IS AN AMAZING STUDENT. HE IS ALWAYS WANTING TO BETTER HIMSELF ACADEMICALLY. HE TAKES OWNERSHIP OF HIS LEARNING BY ASKING QUESTIONS AND STAYING ON TOP OF HIS SCHOOLWORK. IF HE MAKES EVEN THE SLIGHTEST ERROR ON AN ASSIGNMENT, HE IS AT MY DESK ASKING FOR CLARIFICATION, SO HE LEARNS FROM THOSE MISTAKES. HE IS ALSO A GREAT FRIEND TO HIS PEERS AND LOVES TO HELP OTHERS. HE MAKES IT A POINT TO ASK HIS CLASSMATES IF THEY NEED HELP AND IS ALWAYS HAPPY TO GIVE IT. HE IS VERY POLITE AND ALWAYS HAPPY TOO. OSCAR IS A TRUE LEADER ON OUR CAMPUS, AND I AM SO HAPPY TO HAVE HIM IN MY CLASS AGAIN THIS YEAR. CONGRATULATIONS, OSCAR. [APPLAUSE] OSCAR ZEPEDA. THERE YOU GO. I'M GOING TO LET YOU KEEP THIS. ALL RIGHT. CONGRATULATIONS. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. THANK YOU, OSCAR. [APPLAUSE] NOW, MS. GENTRY, OUR HIGH SCHOOL. THANK YOU. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, SO WE ACTUALLY HAVE TWO STUDENTS OF THE MONTH. ONE OF THEM IS UNABLE TO BE HERE WITH US TONIGHT. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO TELL YOU ABOUT HIM ANYWAY. HE IS SUCH A RAY OF SUNSHINE ON OUR CAMPUS. HIS NAME IS MICHAEL [INAUDIBLE] AND HE WAS NOMINATED BY MANY, MANY STAFF MEMBERS. THEY CLASSIFIED HIM AS A HARD WORKER, A CLASS LEADER, POSITIVE AND KIND. AND ONE OF HIS TEACHERS SAID MICHAEL IS A MODEL OF POSITIVITY AND DEDICATION IN THE CLASSROOM. HE ALWAYS HELPS OTHERS AND NEVER COMPLAINS, MAKING HIM A CONSISTENTLY RELIABLE PRESENCE WHO WILLINGLY ASSISTS BOTH HIS PEERS AND HIS TEACHERS WITHOUT HESITATION. SO IF YOU KNOW MICHAEL OR YOU SEE MICHAEL, PLEASE GIVE HIM A HUG AND A HIGH FIVE FOR US. HE'S A REALLY GREAT KIDDO. OUR SECOND. [APPLAUSE] YES. THANK YOU. OUR SECOND STUDENT OF THE MONTH IS MISS JAYDEN BELL AND SHE IS HERE TONIGHT. JAYDEN, WILL YOU COME ON UP? JAYDEN IS AN EXEMPLARY INDIVIDUAL WHO STANDS OUT ON OUR CAMPUS. IN ADDITION TO HER ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS, JAYDEN IS AN ATHLETIC TRAINING STUDENT, A VARSITY CHEERLEADER, AND A DEDICATED YOUTH CHEER COACH. JAYDEN'S PASSION FOR LEADERSHIP AND VOLUNTEERISM IS TRULY INSPIRING. SHE ACTIVELY SEEKS OPPORTUNITIES TO ASSIST AND UPLIFT HER COMMUNITY, DEMONSTRATING HER COMMITMENT TO MAKING A POSITIVE IMPACT DESPITE FACING SIGNIFICANT CHALLENGES, INCLUDING UNDERGOING HER SECOND MAJOR KNEE SURGERY, JAYDEN HAS SHOWN REMARKABLE RESILIENCE AND DETERMINATION THROUGHOUT HER REHAB PROCESS, ALL TO ENSURE SHE IS HEALTHY AND ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN CHEERLEADING. HER EXPERIENCES HAVE FUELED HER ASPIRATION TO BECOME A PHYSICAL THERAPIST AFTER COMPLETING HER NASM CPT CERTIFICATION. SHE'S IN OUR HEALTH SCIENCE PRACTICUM CLASS RIGHT NOW. JAYDEN EXEMPLIFIES THE QUALITIES OF PERSEVERANCE, LEADERSHIP, AND COMPASSION, MAKING HER A DESERVING CANDIDATE FOR THIS RECOGNITION. [APPLAUSE] CONGRATULATIONS. THERE WE GO. [00:40:15] JAYDEN'S PARENTS WANT TO COME UP. THANK YOU. JAYDEN. MIC] PLEASE. ALL RIGHT, EVERYBODY JUST WANT TO AWARD TONIGHT. ALL STUDENTS. Y'ALL COME ON UP HERE WITH YOUR FAMILIES. WE'RE GOING TO GET ONE FAMILY PHOTO TOGETHER. Y'ALL COME ON UP. EVERYBODY THAT WON AN AWARD, Y'ALL COME ON UP. MIC] YEAH. RIGHT. HOW FAR YOU NEED? HOW CLOSE? CLOSER. BEFORE WE MOVE ON WITH OUR AGENDA, WE'VE GOT A MEETING AHEAD OF US. IF YOU ARE A STUDENT OR A TEACHER AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS, YOU ARE FREE TO LEAVE. WE'LL GIVE YOU A MINUTE OR TWO TO GET OUT SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO STAY FOR THE REST OF THE MEETING. I KNOW IT'S A SCHOOL NIGHT. MIC]. OUR NEXT ITEM IN ORDER IS THE REPORTS OF THE SUPERINTENDENT. [7. Reports of the Superintendent ] FIRST UP, WE HAVE OUR SHAC YEARLY REVIEW WITH MISS TONI NELSON AND MR. DONNIE BARTLETT. THANKS FOR HAVING ME. I'M GIVING THE ANNUAL REPORT OF WHAT THE SHAC DOES. THE FIRST PART IS JUST OUR AGENDA. WE HAVE OUR FIRST MEETING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR ON WEDNESDAY. SO WHAT WE USUALLY DO IS I GIVE THEM A REPORT THAT I GAVE TO YOU TONIGHT AND LET THEM LOOK AT THAT AND MAKE SURE THEY DIDN'T WANT ME TO ADD ANYTHING TO GIVE TO YOU. AND THEN WE REVIEW WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO FOR THE YEAR. AND THOSE ARE THE COUPLE OF THINGS WE NEED TO DO RIGHT OFF IS I GET THIS NARCAN STANDING ORDERS FROM THE DENTON COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT. SO WE GO OVER THOSE AND THEN WE'RE GOING TO HAVE THE CHILD NUTRITION REVIEW, THE GO OVER THE LOCAL WELLNESS POLICY WITH US, AND WE APPROVE THAT. [00:45:02] AND THAT'S A YEARLY THING WE HAVE TO DO. SO THAT'S WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO WEDNESDAY. OKAY. SORRY. AND THEN THIS IS THE ACTUAL REPORT TO YOU WHAT WE DID LAST YEAR. WE MET FOUR TIMES. MARION MORRIS AND JEREMY FULLER ARE CHAIR AND CO-CHAIR, RESPECTIVELY, AND THEY WILL BE AT AGAIN THIS YEAR AS LONG AS THEY STAY WITH ME. WE REVIEWED THE TRIENNIAL ASSESSMENT FOR THE CHILD NUTRITION DEPARTMENT LAST YEAR AND APPROVED IT. I THINK THEY PRESENTED THAT TO YOU SOMETIME IN THE SPRING THEY DID. WE ALSO CREATED ASSISTING WITH THE TOILETING GUIDELINES BECAUSE PRE-K NEEDED SOMETHING TO HELP THEM. SO WE MADE THAT FOR ALL CAMPUSES TO LOOK AT. WE RECOMMENDED THE AT&T IT CAN WAIT, DISTRACTED DRIVING AWARENESS VIDEO TO BE SHOWN AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, WHICH THEY DID DURING ONE OF THE PLUS PERIODS LAST YEAR. WE ALSO LAST YEAR RECOMMENDED THAT THE SHATTERED DREAMS BE REINSTATED FOR THIS YEAR. HOWEVER DOCTOR BARRETT WANTED TO TABLE IT UNTIL THE NEW PRINCIPAL CAME ON, SO I NEED TO MEET WITH MISS GENTRY ABOUT THAT AND STARTING THAT AGAIN, BECAUSE I LOVE THAT PROGRAM, AND I'D REALLY LIKE TO GET THAT GOING AGAIN. AND THEN COORDINATED HEALTH SERVICES IS SOMETHING THAT WE DO. I JUST KIND OF GO OVER WHAT THE NURSES ARE DOING AS FAR AS STAFF AWARENESS FOR AT EACH CAMPUS, AND WE DO FLU AND COVID SHOTS EVERY YEAR. AND THEN OUR PROJECTED AGENDA FOR THIS YEAR IS TO DO THE ANNUAL REVIEW OF THE WELLNESS POLICY FOR THE CHILD NUTRITION DEPARTMENT. WE DO DRUG ALCOHOL AND AWARENESS, INTERVENTION, AWARENESS, STUFF LIKE THAT, WHICH IS PART OF THE SHATTERED DREAMS COVERS THAT. WE ALSO HAVE TO CHANGE THE MEDICATION GUIDELINES, WHICH IS GOING TO BE A HUGE THING. AND WE'LL COME TO YOU WITH THAT. THE BOARD OF NURSING HAS NOW SAID THAT WE CAN'T GIVE OVER-THE-COUNTER MEDS WITHOUT A DOCTOR'S NOTE, SO WE CAN PHASE THAT IN SLOWLY. SO THIS YEAR, WE'RE KIND OF JUST KIND OF GOING TO START GETTING THE POLICY TOGETHER. I'M NOT SURE WHY THAT CHANGED, BUT THE BOARD OF NURSING SAID THAT'S. YES. TYLENOL AND OVER-THE-COUNTER STUFF. AND THEN I ALSO ADDED THE MEMBERSHIP LIST, WHICH IS ATTACHED. I LIKE TO LEAVE THAT OPEN IN CASE NEW PEOPLE APPLY, BECAUSE WE'RE ALWAYS TRYING TO GET PARENTS TO COME ON BOARD. AND THEN WE ALSO LEAVE THIS OPEN IN CASE THE SHAC RECOMMENDS NEW THINGS. ANY QUESTIONS? OKAY. MR. ENGLISH HAS A QUESTION. I'M SORRY. THAT'S GOOD. YOU MENTIONED THERE WAS A CHANGE ASSOCIATED WITH OVER-THE-COUNTER MEDICINES. YES. YOU SAID, WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? WHERE WAS IT COMING OUT OF? I'M SORRY. WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? THE BOARD OF NURSING HAS NOW SAID THAT BEFORE WE IF WE GAVE A PRESCRIPTION DRUG, WE HAD TO HAVE THE PARENT AND THE DOCTOR SIGN. AND FOR SOME REASON, THEY HAVE THE POLICY DIDN'T REALLY CHANGE. THEY JUST CHANGED THEIR INTERPRETATION OF IT SOMEHOW. SO THEY'RE DOING A SURVEY FROM THE SCHOOL NURSES AND THE COORDINATORS TO SEE HOW WE DO IT NOW. BECAUSE RIGHT NOW, IF YOU GIVE A TYLENOL LIKE THE PARENT CAN BRING IT FOR THE STUDENT WITH THE PARENT'S SIGNATURE, AND WE CAN GIVE IT WHEN THE STUDENT COMES TO US. BUT NOW THE BOARD OF NURSING IS SAYING NO, THAT WE CANNOT DO THAT BECAUSE WE'RE NOT DOCTORS TO PRESCRIBE THE MEDICINE. THIS IS ALL I MEAN, THIS IS JUST LIKE CAME ABOUT. SO IT SAID, THERE'S NO HURRY TO IT. WE CAN PHASE IT IN. SO WE'RE GOING TO MEET AND TALK ABOUT IT AND SEE SOME BEST WAYS TO DO IT. BECAUSE I KNOW, YOU KNOW, WE GIVE A LOT OF THOSE TYLENOL'S FOR OUR KIDS TO KEEP THEM IN CLASS. BUT THAT'S COMING FROM THE BOARD OF NURSING. THE TEXAS BOARD OF NURSING. THAT'S. YEAH, WE SHOULD TALK ABOUT THAT AS A BOARD, BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF THAT'S BECAUSE ON THE SCHOOL CAMPUS, MEDICATION DISTRIBUTION IS AN ADMINISTRATIVE. RIGHT. DUTY SO BUT THEN WE HAVE THE BOARD OF NURSING OVERSIGHT TOO. SO WE'LL HAVE TO FIND A HAPPY MEDIUM. YEAH, I WAS READING ABOUT THAT. AND THERE WAS SOME THERE WAS SOME INTERPRETATION ABOUT WHETHER THEIR DECISION WAS ACTUALLY BINDING ON SCHOOL DISTRICTS. SO THERE STILL IS SOME. YES, SOME TALKING AND SOME TALKING. I KNOW THE NURSING SIDE OF IT IS SAYING, WHY ARE WE CHANGING DISTRICTS? BECAUSE YEAH, SOMETHING HASN'T CHANGED. SO OKAY. WE CAN ALSO LOOK AT WHAT TEA HAS TO SAY ABOUT IT AS WELL ON THEIR GUIDELINES AND THEIR DIRECTION. YEAH, I SAID THIS IS TOTALLY NEW. SO THAT'S WHY IT'S ON OUR AGENDA FOR THIS YEAR WITH SHAC TO SEE HOW WE CAN BEST SERVE OUR COMMUNITY AND OUR KIDS. AND IF YOU FILTER THAT INFORMATION TO THE BOARD JUST ABOUT WHERE THAT CAME FROM, THAT'D GIVE US SOME INFORMATION ABOUT IT, THAT'D BE GREAT. OKAY I WILL. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? ALL RIGHTY. THANK YOU SO MUCH. AND I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING MORE ABOUT THE MEDICATION CHANGE. THANK YOU. UP NEXT, WE HAVE KIM CHOW-JACKSON. [00:50:03] AND IS AMANDA BALL HERE EITHER? NOPE. JUST MISS JACKSON. AND SHE IS GOING TO GIVE US A CURRICULUM AND LEARNING UPDATE. GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT WATKINS. MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, MR. LAMB. I'M KIM CHOW-JACKSON. I AM DIRECTOR FOR ACADEMIC PROGRAMS. WHEN SOMEBODY. TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES. MR. LAMB COULD SING US A SONG WHILE WE WAIT. EXCUSE ME. OKAY, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE ENTERTAINMENT BY MR. LAMB. DID YOU SEE THAT? DON'T YOU START. DO WHAT? EVERYBODY LEFT OFF. THAT'S WHAT IT IS. OKAY. GREGG, I TOLD YOU NOT TO HAVE ALL THAT PASTA. RIGHT THERE. IF YOU WANT TO USE IT. ALL RIGHT. YOU FOUND IT. OKAY. DO YOU WANT IT? [LAUGHTER] THANK YOU. ALL RIGHT, WELL, I'M GOING TO GO AHEAD AND GET STARTED. SO I'M GOING TO BE PRESENTING TODAY AN ANNUAL REPORT ON OUR ACADEMIC PROGRAMS, SPECIFICALLY GIFTED AND TALENTED, ADVANCED PLACEMENT, DUAL CREDIT, DUAL LANGUAGE AND ESL OR EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENTS. OKAY. YES. ALL RIGHT. CURRENTLY, WE ARE SERVING 652 IDENTIFIED, GIFTED AND TALENTED STUDENTS. AND WE DO SO THROUGH TRAINED TEACHERS, DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION, AND OPPORTUNITIES TO DEVELOP SELF-DIRECTED LEARNING, THINKING, RESEARCH AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS. YAY! OKAY. NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. ONE MORE. ALL RIGHT. SO WE SERVE OUR STUDENTS THROUGH FIRST WE IDENTIFY THEM. SO THROUGH THE IDENTIFICATION PROCESS WE COLLECT DATA. WE COLLECT PARENT CHECKLISTS, A TEACHER CHECKLIST, WE DO ACHIEVEMENT TESTING, ABILITY TESTING. FOR OUR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS ELEMENTARY KIDDOS WE DO CREATIVITY TESTING ALSO. AND THAT'S ALL PART OF THE IDENTIFICATION PROCESS AND TAKING ALL THAT DATA TO SEE ABOUT THE QUALIFICATION FOR GT IDENTIFICATION. THEN WE SERVICE OUR STUDENTS THROUGH DEPTH AND COMPLEXITY. A GT PROJECT AND THEN FOR OUR ELEMENTARY KIDDOS, WE DO A GRADE LEVEL GT FIELD TRIP. WE ALSO HAVE OUR STUDENTS. OUR GT STUDENTS ARE CLUSTERED AND WHEREVER THEY'RE CLUSTERED, THEN THAT GT TEACHER IS GT TRAINED, WHICH MEANS THEY'VE COMPLETED THEIR 30 HOURS TO BE CONSIDERED GT TRAINED. AND THEN THEY MAINTAIN THAT BY DOING A SIX YEAR, I MEAN, I'M SORRY, A SIX HOUR UPDATE EVERY SINGLE YEAR. OKAY. SO WE PROVIDE ALSO PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR ALL OF OUR TEACHERS OUTSIDE OF JUST BEING GT TRAINED. WE PROVIDE THEM WITH OTHER OPPORTUNITIES FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AS WELL. WE USE THE TEXAS STATE PLAN FOR EDUCATION OF GIFTED AND TALENTED STUDENTS AS OUR GUIDANCE, AND WE ARE IN COMPLETE COMPLIANCE WITH THE STATE PLAN. LITTLE BIT OF DATA ON OUR GT. THE STATE HAS A RATE OF IDENTIFICATION OF GT STUDENTS OF 9%. LEISD HAS A RATE OF 8%. OKAY. AND THEN, AS YOU CAN SEE, WE HAVE GROWN OUR GT PROGRAM OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS. SO FROM 2019-20, WE'VE GONE FROM 489 IDENTIFIED GT STUDENTS TO THIS PAST YEAR, 23-24 WERE AT 669 IDENTIFIED GT STUDENTS. SOME NEEDS IN OUR PROGRAM, WE HAVE SOME JUST MAKING SURE THAT WE HAVE ONGOING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TEACHER SUPPORT FOR EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTION OF GIFTED AND TALENTED STUDENTS. AND THEN THAT WE'RE ALSO SUPPORTING OUR CAMPUSES ACROSS THE DISTRICT FOR PROGRAM CONSISTENCY. [00:55:02] OKAY. NEXT WE HAVE OUR ADVANCED PLACEMENT OR OUR AP PROGRAM. IT OFFERS A WIDE VARIETY OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO ENGAGE IN COLLEGE COURSEWORK AND POTENTIALLY EARN COLLEGE CREDIT WHILE STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL. OKAY, SO YOU SEE THERE, THOSE ARE SOME OF THE CLASSES THAT WE OFFER AP CLASSES IN IN OUR AP PROGRAM. AND THEN THE BOTTOM JUST LISTS SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF AP PROGRAMING. OKAY, SO THE ACADEMIC RIGOR PREPARATION, IT EXPOSES OUR STUDENTS TO SOME SPECIALIZED SUBJECT AREAS. IT PROVIDES SOME EQUITY AND ACCESS INITIATIVES FOR OUR STUDENTS AND A PATHWAY TO OTHER ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITIES. AS A PROGRAM GOAL, THE AP PROGRAM AIMS TO CREATE A BRIDGE BETWEEN HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE BY OFFERING HIGH STANDARDS, EQUITABLE ACCESS, AND A PATHWAY TO HIGHER EDUCATION THAT PROMOTES BOTH PERSONAL AND ACADEMIC GROWTH FOR OUR STUDENTS. OKAY, A LITTLE BIT OF DATA. SO THIS SHOWS THE PERCENTAGE OF TOTAL AP STUDENTS WHO ARE SCORING A THREE OR MORE, THREE OR HIGHER. AND THAT IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE THE THREE OR HIGHER IS WHAT A LOT OF COLLEGES WILL LOOK AT FOR THE CREDIT. OKAY. SO BOTH EARNED THE HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT AND THE COLLEGE CREDIT AS WELL. SO AS YOU CAN SEE, WE'VE GROWN THAT PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS WHO ARE EARNING THAT THREE OR MORE. SOME NEEDS THAT WE CAN SEE IN OUR DUAL. I MEAN I'M SORRY IN OUR AP PROGRAMING IS JUST TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS WHO ARE SCORING AT THAT LEVEL THREE OR HIGHER AND THEN CONTINUE TO SUPPORT OUR AP TEACHERS WITH PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT VIA THE COLLEGE BOARD, WHICH IS THE PLATFORM THAT WE USE FOR A LOT OF THE AP PROGRAMING. NEXT, WE HAVE OUR DUAL CREDIT PROGRAM, WHICH OFFERS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO EARN AGAIN BOTH HIGH SCHOOL COLLEGE, HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT AND COLLEGE CREDIT SIMULTANEOUSLY BY ENROLLING IN COURSES, BOTH ACADEMIC AND TECHNICAL, THAT ARE TAUGHT IN COLLABORATION WITH NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS COLLEGE, NCTC. AND THEN THOSE ARE ALL OF THE CLASSES THAT WE OFFER DUAL CREDIT IN. AND THEN FOR OUR STUDENTS WHO PARTICIPATE IN COLLEGIATE ACADEMY, THEY HAVE TO TAKE A CERTAIN SPECIFIC COURSEWORK SO THAT AT THE END OF THAT COURSEWORK THEY CAN BE CONSIDERED CORE COMPLETE. SOME OF THE DATA WITH OUR DUAL CREDIT PROGRAM, OKAY, WE HAVE 1,600 CREDITS THAT WERE ATTEMPTED THIS PAST YEAR IN 23-24, AND OF THE 1,600 CREDITS THAT WERE ATTEMPTED, 1,532 CREDITS WERE EARNED. OKAY, SO THAT IS 96% OF THE ATTEMPTED CREDITS THAT WERE EARNED. 90% OF THOSE GRADES WERE A'S AND B'S. OKAY, SO OUR STUDENTS ARE DOING REALLY WELL IN DUAL CREDIT CLASSES. AND THEN OF THAT OF THE 1532 CREDITS THAT WERE EARNED, 56 STUDENTS THAT ARE IN OUR COLLEGIATE ACADEMY EARNED 671 OF THOSE CREDITS. OKAY. SOME NEEDS IN OUR DUAL CREDIT PROGRAMING SCHEDULING, THE FACE TO FACE DUAL CREDIT CLASSES CAN BE SCHEDULED, CAN BE CHALLENGING. AND SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE WANT TO LOOK AT IS INCREASING OUR EMBEDDED INSTRUCTORS, WHICH INSTRUCTORS WHICH MAY HELP WITH THE FACE TO FACE CLASSES BEING A CHALLENGE. OKAY. NEXT WE HAVE OUR EMERGENT BILINGUAL. WE SERVE 1756 EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENTS. EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENTS IS THE NEW TERM, BUT YOU'LL STILL HEAR ENGLISH LEARNER ELL. THOSE ARE ALL STILL INTERCHANGEABLE. BUT EMERGENT BILINGUAL IS THE NEW TECHNICAL TERM FOR OUR STUDENTS. WE SERVE OUR EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENTS THROUGH BILINGUAL PROGRAMING AND PRE-K DUAL LANGUAGE IN KINDER THROUGH FIFTH GRADES AND ESL PRE K THROUGH 12. IN LEISD WE HAVE 48 DIFFERENT STUDENT LANGUAGES. THE TOP STUDENT LANGUAGES REPRESENTED IN OUR DISTRICT WITH 16 OR MORE STUDENTS ARE SPANISH. AND IN SPANISH WE HAVE 1,437 STUDENTS REPRESENTED. TELUGU. WE HAVE 27 STUDENTS REPRESENTED. ARABIC, MANDARIN, CHINESE, VIETNAMESE, AND KOREAN HAVE 17 EACH, 17 STUDENTS REPRESENTED IN EACH OF THOSE LANGUAGES. AND NEPALI 16. ALL THE OTHER LANGUAGES HAVE A HANDFUL OF STUDENTS REPRESENTED. SO ALL OF OUR EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENTS DO PARTICIPATE IN THE TEXAS ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY ASSESSMENT SYSTEM, OR CALLED THE TELPAS. AND IT'S A TEST THAT MEASURES THEIR ENGLISH PROFICIENCY LEVEL. OKAY, SO FOR THE 23-24 SCHOOL YEAR, SOME AREAS OF RELATIVE STRENGTH ARE OUR LISTENING, THE DOMAIN OF LISTENING AND READING AS WELL. SO OUR TWO AREAS OF GROWTH FOR OUR EMERGING BILINGUAL STUDENTS ARE IN THE TWO DOMAINS OF SPEAKING AND WRITING. OKAY. SO THOSE ARE THE TWO AREAS THAT THAT ARE A GROWTH AREA FOR OUR EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENTS. BUT SOME REALLY GOOD NEWS AND SOME REALLY GOOD DATA THAT WE HAVE IS WE HAD THIS PAST SCHOOL YEAR, 23-24, WE HAD 104 EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENTS [01:00:09] RECLASSIFY. AND WHAT THAT MEANS IS THAT THEY MET THE STATE CRITERIA TO NO LONGER BE IDENTIFIED AS EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENTS. THAT MEANS THAT THEIR ENGLISH PROFICIENCY LEVEL IS THAT OF A NATIVE STUDENT THAT DOESN'T HAVE LANGUAGE AS A BARRIER. SO WE COMPARED THAT TO THE LAST 4 OR 5 YEARS, WHERE WE'VE HAD 20 WHO RECLASSIFY IN EACH OF THE PREVIOUS FOUR YEARS. SO THAT WAS A HUGE JUMP TO GO FROM ABOUT 20 EACH OF THOSE YEARS TO 104. PART OF THAT WAS THANK YOU TEA. TEA, FINALLY HEARD THE CRY ACROSS THE STATE IN THAT BEFORE ONE OF THE CRITERIA FOR THE TELPAS FOR OUR EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENTS IS THEY HAD TO BE ADVANCED HIGH IN EVERY ONE OF THOSE DOMAINS. BUT NOW TEA JUST CHANGED THE RULING THIS PAST YEAR AND SAID NOW THEY CAN BE ADVANCED HIGH COMPOSITE, WHICH IS AN ACCUMULATION OF ALL FOUR DOMAINS, AND RECLASSIFY, WHICH THAT WAS A BIG ONE FOR US BECAUSE A LOT OF OUR STUDENTS WERE NOT RECLASSIFYING BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T GETTING THAT ADVANCED HIGH IN EVERY DOMAIN. BUT NOW YOU CAN GET ADVANCED HIGH AND BE ADVANCED IN ONE OF THOSE DOMAINS AND STILL HAVE A COMPOSITE OF ADVANCED HIGH. SO THAT WAS GREAT NEWS FOR OUR EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENTS. SOME AREAS OF NEED WE HAVE IS THAT WE DEFINITELY NEED TO INCREASE OUR SPEAKING AND WRITING DOMAINS OF THE TELPAS, WHICH WILL ALSO IMPROVE OUR STUDENTS WHO ARE RECLASSIFYING AS EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENTS. AND THEN WE ENSURE THAT OUR EDUCATORS UNDERSTAND THE NEEDS AND ARE EQUIPPED TO SUPPORT EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENTS IN THE CLASSROOM AND THAT WE CONTINUE TO RESEARCH EFFECTIVE PRACTICES AND RESOURCES TO SUPPORT OUR EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENTS. OKAY. ALL RIGHT. WHAT QUESTIONS MAY I ANSWER? YES, I DO HAVE A QUESTION. SO WHAT'S THE BENEFIT OF DOING AP VERSUS DUAL CREDIT? I THINK ONE OF THE THINGS THAT YOU KNOW, IN THIS THAT I'VE LEARNED IS IT'S A PATHWAY, RIGHT. AND FOR SOME A PATHWAY. SO IT'S CREATING THAT PATHWAY FOR STUDENTS. FOR SOME STUDENTS, THE AP PATHWAY IS IS A BETTER PATHWAY, RIGHT DEPENDING ON IF OUR STUDENTS ALREADY KNOW WHAT INDUSTRY THEY'RE GOING TO, WHAT CAREER THEY WANT TO STUDY. FOR, SOME CAREERS, THAT AP PROGRAM OR THAT AP CLASS IS GOING TO CARRY A CERTAIN WEIGHT. NOW, AS FAR AS BEING ABLE TO DO THE COURSEWORK, AP PROGRAMING IS GOING TO SHOW A COLLEGE OR A UNIVERSITY THAT THE STUDENTS HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO THE COURSEWORK RIGHT, TO BE ABLE TO DO, TO HANDLE THE COLLEGE COURSES. SAME THING WITH DUAL CREDIT. AND SO THEN WHEN WE TALK TO PARENTS ABOUT WHICH ONE, RIGHT. A LOT OF OUR TEXAS PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES, THAT DUAL CREDIT IS GOING TO TRANSFER FOR THE MAJORITY. OKAY. I ALWAYS TELL PARENTS THAT IF YOUR CHILD ALREADY KNOWS WHERE THEY'RE GOING TO GO TO SCHOOL, WHAT COLLEGE THEY'RE GOING TO GO TO, YOU DEFINITELY WANT TO RESEARCH WHAT THEY WILL ACCEPT. RIGHT. BUT PART OF THAT IS BEING ABLE TO SAY TO THE STUDENT WHAT PATHWAY IS BEST FOR YOU. AND HAVING THAT CONVERSATION WITH FAMILIES TO DETERMINE WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST PATHWAY FOR STUDENTS, WHETHER THEY'RE GOING THE AP ROUTE OR WHETHER THEY'RE DOING DUAL CREDIT. BECAUSE JUST ANECDOTALLY, WITH FRIENDS THAT I KNOW THAT HAVE KIDS IN FRESHMAN AND SOPHOMORE YEAR OF COLLEGE, EITHER ONE OF THOSE ACTUALLY HAVE IT'S BEEN LIMITED IN HOW MUCH IT'S HELPED THEM. A LOT OF TIMES THEY'LL ACCEPT IT, BUT ONLY AS AN ELECTIVE OR SOMETHING. IF IT'S IF THEY'RE GOING IN, A LOT OF TIMES KIDS WILL TAKE THESE CLASSES AS PART OF THEIR, YOU KNOW, THEY WANT TO GO TOWARDS A DEGREE OR PATH. WELL, THOSE COLLEGES WANT YOU TO TAKE ALL THOSE CLASSES THERE, RIGHT? SO YOU END UP HAVING TO TAKE THEM AGAIN ANYWAY. AND IT JUST SEEMS TO ME LIKE THE DUAL CREDIT WITH JUST HAVING TO DO WELL IN THE COURSE AND YOU'RE DONE VERSUS THE AP HAVING TO THEN GET TAKE THE AP TEST, IT JUST SEEMS LIKE AN ADDED HURDLE THAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY MORE KIDS AREN'T DOING MORE DUAL CREDIT, MORE DUAL CREDIT VERSUS AP, OR WHY AS A SCHOOL, WE DON'T SUGGEST THAT. YEAH. SO EACH OF THE FOUR GENRES IS REALLY DIFFERENT. SO FOR MATH, THE DIFFERENCE IN AP CALCULUS AND THE DUAL CREDIT COLLEGE ALGEBRA ARE FOR TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT PURPOSES. SO AGAIN WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO GO TO SCHOOL? WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO MAJOR IN? WHEN I TAUGHT AP CALCULUS, MY TWO VALEDICTORIAN AND SALUTATORIAN CHOSE NOT TO TAKE THE TEST BECAUSE THEY WERE GOING TO TEXAS AND TEXAS A&M TOLD THEM AND THEY WERE GOING TO BE ENGINEERS. WE DON'T CARE WHAT YOU MAKE. YOU'RE GOING TO TAKE OUR CLASSES, HOWEVER, TO TAKE CALCULUS IN HIGH SCHOOL AND YES, REPEATING IT IN COLLEGE AT TEXAS, IT'S HELPFUL TO TAKE IT IN HIGH SCHOOL FIRST TO GET THAT BACKGROUND. ONE OF MY FORMER STUDENTS MADE THE ONLY A IN BAYLOR BECAUSE IT WAS TECHNICALLY HER SECOND TIME. BUT THERE'S BENEFIT TO THAT. MY CHILDREN THAT WERE GOING TO GO TO COLLEGE AND NEVER, EVER LOOK AT ANOTHER MATH CLASS AGAIN IN THEIR LIFE. TAKING COLLEGE ALGEBRA IN HIGH SCHOOL WAS ALL THEY NEEDED. AND SO IT'S VERY CIRCUMSTANTIAL IN MATH. [01:05:04] SOCIAL STUDIES, US HISTORY AS A JUNIOR, AND IT'S A LITTLE MORE EQUITABLE THERE ON WHAT YOU TAKE. AND SO EACH IT'S JUST A VERY FINE TUNED DISCUSSION AND DECISION. I USED TO START THAT SESSION OFF WITH, UNFORTUNATELY, YOU NEED TO KNOW WHERE YOU'RE GOING TO GO TO COLLEGE AND WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO MAJOR IN. AND YOU NEED TO KNOW THAT IN FIFTH GRADE, BECAUSE THAT'S HOW YOU PICK YOUR SIXTH GRADE MATH CLASS. AND SO THAT'S A LITTLE BIT FOR SHOCK FACTOR, BUT IT'S A LITTLE BIT TRUE AS WELL. WELL I KIND OF ALSO ASK THAT BECAUSE LIKE YOU MENTIONED, SOME KIDS CHOOSE NOT TO TAKE THE TEST BECAUSE THEY DON'T REALLY NEED IT AND THEY'RE GOING TO DO IT ANYWAY. BUT IN A LOT OF, IN OUR ABILITY MEASURES, THAT HURTS US. IT DOES. RIGHT. SO BECAUSE I'VE HAD PEOPLE TELL ME, WELL, MY KID JUST DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE THE TEST. WELL, OBVIOUSLY THAT'S A FAMILIAL CHOICE AND A PERSONAL CHOICE, BUT IT DINGS US AS A DISTRICT. SO THAT'S AGAIN, IF DOING THE DUAL CREDIT PUTS YOU IN AN EQUAL FOOTING OR NOT ANY WORSE. IN SOME CASES, YOU CAN SCORE HIGH ENOUGH ON THE JUNIOR ENGLISH TEST TO GET BOTH CREDITS. SIX HOURS OF CREDIT, WHICH MIKE [INAUDIBLE] DAUGHTER DID THAT AND IT HURT HER SENIOR YEAR BECAUSE NOW WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TAKE OUR SENIOR YEAR IN ENGLISH. WE'VE GOT ALL THE CREDIT WE NEED. WE DON'T NEED AP. ESSENTIALLY, SHE NEEDED TO TAKE THE REGULAR CLASS, WHICH WAS GOING TO HURT GPA. SO IT'S JUST VERY CIRCUMSTANTIAL. YOU GOT TO KNOW THE COLLEGE. AND LIKE SHE SAID, YOU CAN LOOK UP ANY COLLEGE RIGHT NOW AND SEE WHAT THEY'LL TAKE FOR AP. AND BACK WHEN 2008, WHEN THERE WAS A MONEY CRUNCH, THEY WOULD BARELY TAKE ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY WANTED YOU TO TAKE ALL THEIR STUFF. SO IF YOU KNOW WHERE YOU'RE GOING TO SCHOOL AND AGAIN, WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO MAJOR IN IT ALL PLAYS A PART IN THAT DECISION. YEAH. IT'S HELPFUL. LIKE WHEN WE DO THE COURSE SELECTION AND THAT IS WHAT WE TALK TO PARENTS ABOUT IS KIND OF SAYING WHAT, YOU KNOW, DO YOUR DOES YOUR STUDENT ALREADY KNOW WHERE THEY WANT TO GO TO. AND WE HAVE SOME WHO ABSOLUTELY THEY ALREADY KNOW WHERE THEY'RE GOING TO GO TO COLLEGE. THEY ALREADY KNOW WHAT CAREER THEY'RE GOING TO STUDY. AND WE HAVE SOME WHO DO NOT. AND SO THEN SOME OF THAT IS LEARNING KIND OF WHAT YOU WANT TO DO TO HAVE THOSE KIND OF FAMILY DISCUSSIONS TO DECIDE WHICH ROUTE, WHICH PATH DO YOU WANT TO GO? MY DAUGHTER IS GOING TO GRADUATE COLLEGE IN THREE YEARS BECAUSE HER SENIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL, SHE BASICALLY. WELL, JUNIOR AND SENIOR YEAR WAS THE EQUIVALENT OF 30 HOURS OF COLLEGE. SHE GOT HER FRESHMAN YEAR OVER BEFORE SHE LEFT. BUT SOME PEOPLE HAVE LEFT WITH 60 HOURS AND THEY GO TO THEIR COLLEGE AND THEY IMMEDIATELY HAVE TO PICK CLASSES IN THEIR MAJOR, AND THAT DOESN'T WORK OUT WELL FOR THEM. SO THERE'S BALANCES. I SAY THAT WE HAVE A FAMILY FRIEND THAT THAT'S WHAT HE FACED. HE WAS HE WENT IN AS A SOPHOMORE. YEAH. BECAUSE OF THE CREDITS HE HAD. BUT THAT ACTUALLY DIDN'T HURT BECAUSE THEN IT WAS LIKE, WELL OKAY NOW BOOM, YOU'RE INTO THE MEAT OF IT RIGHT AWAY. SO YEAH IT'S A CATCH 22. YEAH. YEAH. THANK YOU. YOU'RE WELCOME. ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS. THANK YOU MISS CHOW-JACKSON. THANK YOU. [APPLAUSE] EVEN WITH THE TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES. MISS BROWN, IT IS YOUR TURN. OKAY. GOOD EVENING AGAIN. BOARD OF TRUSTEES, PRESIDENT WATKINS, MR. LAMB. SO I THINK THE FIRST THING I'M SCHEDULED TO BRING TO YOU IS THE HUMAN RESOURCE SERVICES ANNUAL REPORT. SO EACH SEPTEMBER, WE OUR DEPARTMENT PUTS TOGETHER THIS REPORT AND BRINGS IT TO YOU GUYS, THE BOARD AND TO THE LITTLE ELM COMMUNITY. I'M GOING TO SPEND THE NEXT FEW MINUTES HIGHLIGHTING THE WORK THAT WE'VE DONE IN THE 23, 24 SCHOOL YEAR AND OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS, AND THEN ALSO OUR AREAS OF FOCUS AS WE MOVE INTO THIS 24-25 SCHOOL YEAR. SO LET ME SEE IF I CAN. NOPE. NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. ALL RIGHT. SO LAST THIS PAST SCHOOL YEAR, ADOPT-A-LOBO WAS A BRAND NEW STAFF RETENTION INITIATIVE THAT WE EXECUTED. AND WE PUT OUT THE CALL TO OUR WONDERFUL LITTLE ELM COMMUNITY. AND THEY RESPONDED IN DROVES. WE HAD MANY TEACHERS, STAFF MEMBERS, PARENTS, JUST COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHO DON'T NECESSARILY HAVE KIDS IN THE SCHOOLS. BUSINESS OWNERS WHO RESPONDED. IN FACT, 175 OF THEM VOLUNTEERED TO ADOPT ONE OR MORE LEISD NEW TEACHERS. SO WE WERE ABLE TO PAIR THOSE VOLUNTEER ADOPTERS WITH OUR NEW LEISD TEACHERS. 146 OF THEM WERE MATCHED WITH AN ADOPTER, AND WE HAD SEVERAL MEMBERS OF OUR BOARD WHO ADOPTED NEW TEACHERS LAST SCHOOL YEAR. AND THEN EVERY MEMBER OF OUR CABINET ALSO ADOPTED ONE OR MORE NEW TEACHERS LAST SCHOOL YEAR. WE HAD JUST RAVE REVIEWS ABOUT THIS INITIATIVE. AGAIN, WE DID IT TO KIND OF GIVE IT WAS MORE ABOUT FEELING GOOD. YOU KNOW, IT'S WHAT WE CALL LIKE A SOFT INITIATIVE TO REALLY HAVE NEW STAFF MEMBERS FEEL WELCOMED, TO MAKE THEM FEEL LIKE THEY ARE PART OF REALLY A FAMILY. SO THESE ADOPTERS DID MONTHLY TOUCH POINTS WITH THESE NEW NEW TEACHERS, WHETHER IT WAS AN ENCOURAGING NOTE OR A TREAT FROM SONIC [01:10:07] OR WHATEVER THAT ADOPTER FELT IN THEIR HEART TO GIVE. THEY DID THAT ON A MONTHLY BASIS, REALLY, REALLY WELL RECEIVED BY OUR STAFF. IN FACT, WE SENT OUT SURVEYS AT THE END OF LAST SCHOOL YEAR IN MAY TO OUR ADOPTERS AND TO OUR ADOPTEES. AND HERE ON THE SCREEN, YOU'LL SEE SOME OF THE COMMENTS THAT WE PULLED DIRECTLY FROM THE SURVEY. THIS IS FROM COMMENTS FROM SOME OF OUR NEW TEACHERS LAST YEAR. I HAVE REALLY APPRECIATED ALL YOU'VE DONE FOR ME THIS SEMESTER. IT HAS REALLY MADE ME FEEL AT HOME AND PART OF THE COMMUNITY. YOU ARE SO KIND AND THOUGHTFUL TO ADOPT ME AND I APPRECIATE IT. A SECOND COMMENT, RANDOMLY RECEIVING A NOTE OR GIFT HELPED BRIGHTEN UP MY DAY WHEN THINGS WERE GETTING A BIT OVERWHELMING, AND ANOTHER TEACHER SAID MADE ME RECOGNIZE THAT MANY COMMUNITY MEMBERS CARE ABOUT TEACHERS MORE THAN I THOUGHT. IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE TO BE A GIFT THAT IS GIVEN. IT CAN BE EVEN A LITTLE NOTE OR A LETTER. AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT WE WERE AIMING FOR, TO DECREASE THAT FEELING OF BEING OVERWHELMED, TO MAKE THEM FEEL APPRECIATED AND VALUED. AND SO IN THAT WAY, I WOULD SAY IT WAS ABSOLUTELY A SUCCESS. AS WITH ALL THINGS THE FIRST YEAR OF ANY NEW INITIATIVE, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE LITTLE WRINKLES THAT YOU WORK THROUGH. SO WE ALSO GOT SOME FEEDBACK IN THOSE SURVEY RESPONSES THAT ALLOWED US TO KIND OF TWEAK SOME THINGS. AND SO NOW WE'RE STARTING YEAR TWO. AND AGAIN, WE HAVE SEVERAL OF OUR BOARD MEMBERS WHO HAVE VOLUNTEERED TO PARTICIPATE AND LOTS OF STAFF AS WELL AND PARENTS. MOVING ON. THESE ARE SOME PICTURES FROM SOME OF THE SOCIAL MEDIA. SO WE ALSO FOUND THAT A LOT OF OUR ADOPT OUR NEW STAFF WENT TO SOCIAL MEDIA AND POSTED SOME OF THE THINGS THAT THEY WERE GIVEN BY THEIR ADOPTERS. IN FACT, WE ENCOURAGED THEM TO USE A HASHTAG. AND SO WE ENCOURAGE THEM TO USE HASHTAG ADOPT-A-LOBO AND SO THESE ARE A FEW PICTURES THAT WE PULLED FROM SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS. NEXT, WE STARTED THIS SCHOOL THIS PAST SCHOOL YEAR AS WELL LEADERS OF THE PACK. AND THIS IS GOING TO BE VERY FAMILIAR TO YOU ALL. WE JUST DID IT TONIGHT. BUT WE STARTED LAST OCTOBER WITH LEADERS OF THE PACK, ANOTHER STAFF RECOGNITION INITIATIVE. AGAIN, WE PUT OUT THE CALL TO OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS. MANY, MANY, MANY NOMINATIONS WERE RECEIVED LAST YEAR. IN FACT, 173 NOMINATIONS WERE RECEIVED. SO WE HAD LOTS OF WE CAN'T BRING 173 PEOPLE TO THE BOARD MEETING, OBVIOUSLY. SO WE CHOOSE TWO PEOPLE PER MONTH TO BRING HERE FOR FOR DISTRICT LEVEL RECOGNITION. BUT OUR PRINCIPALS DO A REALLY GOOD JOB. YOU CAN SEE REZA THERE IN ONE OF THE PICTURES, CARRIE MCHUGH IN ONE OF THE PICTURES. THEY DO A REALLY GOOD JOB OF RECOGNIZING STAFF MEMBERS THAT WERE UNABLE TO BRING TO THE BOARD JUST FOR SHEER VOLUME REASONS. THEY DO A GOOD JOB OF RECOGNIZING THEM AT THE CAMPUS LEVEL. SO WE'RE REALLY PROUD OF OUR LEADERS OF THE PACK WORK THAT WE DID THIS SCHOOL THIS PAST SCHOOL YEAR AND ARE SO EXCITED TO CONTINUE IT THIS YEAR. ANOTHER INITIATIVE THAT WE CONTINUED. THIS IS OUR THIRD YEAR OF DOING CARPOOL KUDOS. IN FACT, WE HAD A TEAM OF HR FOLKS THAT WERE AT BRENT ELEMENTARY THIS AFTERNOON IN THE CARPOOL LINE. SO THREE YEARS AGO, WE LEARNED THAT OUR PARENTS GET IN LINE FOR CARPOOL PICKUP REALLY EARLY, LIKE, YOU KNOW, HOUR, HOUR AND A HALF SOMETIMES BEFORE DISMISSAL. I THINK IT'S ALMOST TURNED INTO A COMPETITION BETWEEN THEM OF, YOU KNOW, WHO CAN BE THE FIRST CAR IN LINE. AND SO WE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT. THEY DO GET NOTIFICATION THAT WE'RE COMING, LIKE THE DAY BEFORE. THE PRINCIPAL SENDS AN EMAIL OUT TO PARENTS JUST SO THEY DON'T THINK THAT WE'RE, YOU KNOW, KIND OF CRAZY WEIRDOS, YOU KNOW, STALKING THE CARPOOL LINE. [LAUGHTER] AND WE GO TO THE CARPOOL LINE AND JUST ASK THEM IF WE CAN RECORD THEM. AND THEN WE PUT IT TOGETHER WITH THE HELP OF ROWDY AGAIN AND A VIDEO PACKAGE. AND I DON'T KNOW IF WE'RE GOING TO HAVE SOUND ON THIS, BUT THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF ONE OF LAST YEAR'S CARPOOL KUDOS. NO. OKAY. MAYBE NOT. YOU CAN FIND THEM ON SOCIAL MEDIA. WE DO THEM EVERY SINGLE WEEK. WE POST CARPOOL KUDOS EPISODES. OKAY, SO ANOTHER ONE OF OUR CONTINUED SUCCESSES THAT WE EXECUTED LAST SCHOOL YEAR WAS OUR HONORARY AWARDS BANQUET. IT WAS ON MAY 13TH THIS PAST YEAR, THE THIRD ANNUAL END OF YEAR EVENT TO HONOR OUR EMPLOYEES OF THE YEAR, OUR RETIREES, AND OUR LONGEVITY. LIKE OUR SERVICE AWARDS RECIPIENTS OF TEN OR MORE YEARS IN FIVE YEAR INCREMENTS. SO OUR 10 YEAR, 15, 20, 25 AND SO ON THAT HAVE SPENT THAT NUMBER OF YEARS IN LITTLE ELM ISD. LAST YEAR, OR I SHOULD SAY THIS YEAR IN MAY, WE HONORED ABOUT 112 FOLKS AND WE HAD 230 ATTENDEES. EACH ONE OF THOSE HONOREES WERE ABLE TO BRING A PLUS ONE GUEST. AND THEN WE HAD ALL OF OUR CAMPUS ADMINISTRATORS. MANY OF YOU BOARD MEMBERS WERE THERE. DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION. IT'S REALLY A VERY NICE EVENT. OUR LITTLE ELM ISD EDUCATION FOUNDATION ALSO RECOGNIZES FOLKS AT THAT AWARDS BANQUET. AND SO IT'S A WONDERFUL THING THAT WE STARTED THREE YEARS AGO, AND IT'S ANOTHER RECOGNITION INITIATIVE THAT WE FOUND GREAT SUCCESS WITH THAT WE WILL CONTINUE. HERE'S SOME PICTURES OF LAST YEAR OF THIS YEAR'S AWARDS BANQUET. IT'S AT A HOTEL DOWN IN MCKINNEY. [01:15:01] JUST A REALLY VERY, VERY NICE TIME. NEXT. THIS PAST YEAR, WE HAD OUR SECOND YEAR IN A ROW OF LITTLE ELM ISD JOB FAIRS. WE CONDUCTED TWO OF THEM THIS PAST YEAR. ONE WAS IN APRIL, WHERE WE HAD ABOUT 114 ATTENDEES. THE SECOND ONE WAS IN JUNE, WHERE WE HAD ABOUT 58 ATTENDEES. THESE CAREER FAIRS ARE NOT SPECIFIC TO TEACHER CANDIDATES. WE INVITE ANY CANDIDATES FOR ANY POSITION. SO PARAPROFESSIONAL, AUXILIARY, ALL EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO COME. ALL THE CAMPUSES HAVE TABLES. ALL OF THE DEPARTMENTS, YOU KNOW, FROM TECHNOLOGY TO, YOU KNOW, OUR CHILD NUTRITION. EVERYONE HAS A TABLE THERE SO THAT WE CAN REALLY CAPTURE ANY PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN EMPLOYMENT IN OUR DISTRICT. THE GREAT NEWS IS THAT WE WERE ABLE TO HIRE 17 PEOPLE WHO FROM THAT WE MET AT THESE JOB FAIRS. SO 17 OF THOSE ATTENDEES TURNED INTO ACTUAL HIRES. AND THEN ANOTHER PIECE OF GOOD NEWS FROM THIS PAST HIRING SEASON IS THAT WE WERE ABLE TO REHIRE 11 PEOPLE. SO, THEY WERE EMPLOYEES HERE IN LITTLE ELM ISD LEFT FOR WHATEVER REASONS. GRASS IS GREENER, THINK TYPE OF THINKING AND THEN ARE RIGHT BACK HERE, BACK IN THE FAMILY. SO WE HAVE 11 REHIRES RETURNING HOME TO US. ANOTHER GREAT PIECE OF NEWS FROM THIS PAST HIRING SEASON IS THAT WE HIRED FOUR LEHS GRADUATES. THAT'S ALWAYS REALLY WONDERFUL WHEN WE HAVE FOLKS THAT GRADUATE FROM OUR HIGH SCHOOL GO OFF TO COLLEGE OR WHATEVER THEIR CAREER PATH TAKES THEM, AND THEN COME BACK. SO WE WERE ABLE TO HIRE THREE LEHS GRADUATES AS TEACHERS IN OUR DISTRICT, AND THEN ONE OF THEM WAS HIRED TO BE A PARAPROFESSIONAL HERE IN OUR DISTRICT. VERY EXCITING NEWS THERE. HERE'S ON THE NEXT SLIDE. THERE'S SOME PICTURES OF THIS PAST SPRING'S JOB FAIRS THAT YOU CAN TAKE A LOOK AT AND THEN ANOTHER PIECE OF SUCCESS FROM THIS PAST YEAR IS OUR GROW YOUR HOME PROGRAM. SO WE, LOTS OF DISTRICTS CALL THIS THEIR GROW YOUR OWN PROGRAM. WE KIND OF PUT A LITTLE TWIST ON IT AND WE CALL IT GROW YOUR HOME. WE WERE ABLE TO. SO THIS IS WHERE WE DO TWO THINGS. WE, WELL REALLY THREE THINGS. ONE IS THAT WE REALLY FOCUS IN ON OUR PARAPROFESSIONAL STAFF AND ANY PARAPROFESSIONAL WHO IS ALREADY DEGREED BUT JUST DOESN'T HAVE THEIR TEACHER CERTIFICATION. WE TRY AND THEY'RE INTERESTED IN BEING A TEACHER. WE TRY TO REALLY PARTNER WITH THEM, SUPPORT THEM IN THEIR JOURNEY TO ATTAIN TEACHER CERTIFICATION. AND THEN THAT'S ONE, ONE ELEMENT OF OUR GROW YOUR HOME. ANOTHER ELEMENT OF OUR GROW YOUR HOME IS FOR OUR PARAPROFESSIONALS WHO ARE NOT DEGREED. MAYBE THEY HAVE AN ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE, BUT NO BACHELOR'S. MAYBE THEY HAVE JUST SOME COLLEGE HOURS. WE PARTNER WITH THEM TO FINISH THEIR BACHELOR'S DEGREE WHILE ALSO EARNING THEIR TEACHER CERTIFICATION AT THE SAME TIME. AND WE HAVE SOME UNIVERSITIES THAT WE PARTNER WITH, TEXAS A&M COMMERCE, HARTWELL UNIVERSITY, AS WELL AS THE ITEACH TEXAS CERTIFICATION PROGRAM. SO THROUGH ALL OF THOSE EFFORTS, YOU SEE THE GOOD NEWS UP THERE. WE WERE ABLE TO HIRE FOUR OF OUR LAST YEAR'S INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANTS TO BECOME TEACHERS. SO THEY WENT THROUGH OUR GROW YOUR HOME PROGRAM. THEY PARTNERED WITH US TO HELP THEM ATTAIN THEIR TEACHER CERTIFICATION. SO THEY WENT FROM IT OR TA LIKE A TEACHER'S ASSISTANT TO BECOME TEACHERS. WE HAVE ONE AT STRIKE, ONE AT WALKER AND TWO AT LAKEVIEW. SO THAT'S REALLY WONDERFUL NEWS FROM OUR GROW YOUR HOME PROGRAM. AND THEN I MENTIONED JUST A SECOND AGO WE HAD AN LEHS GRADUATE WHO STARTED AS A PARAPROFESSIONAL, ALSO AT CHAVEZ. WE ARE CONTINUING TO PARTNER WITH THE EDUCATION AND TRAINING STRAND WITH RONNI HARDIN OVER AT LEHS. THIS PAST SPRING, WE WENT OVER AND HAD A DIALOG WITH OUR WITH THOSE SENIORS WE PROVIDED WITH THEM WITH, YOU KNOW, WE TRIED TO MAKE IT REALLY OFFICIAL, LIKE, HERE'S A LETTER OF INTENT TO INTERVIEW YOU. AND SO WE GAVE THEM THAT LIKE GO GET YOUR COLLEGE DEGREES AND THEN COME BACK AND INTERVIEW WITH US. SO THAT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR OUR SENIORS AS WELL AS FOR US IN HUMAN RESOURCES. WE FACILITATED THANK YOU NOTES TO EDUCATORS FOR OUR SENIORS TO WRITE THEM TO TEACHERS THAT MADE A DIFFERENCE FOR THEM. ANOTHER SUCCESS IS OUR INCREASED SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE. YOU'LL SEE THAT WE HAD A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN SOCIAL MEDIA OUTREACH AS WELL AS AN INCREASE IN ENGAGEMENT. SO THOSE ARE ALL OF OUR SUCCESSES. I WANT TO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR ON THE NEXT SLIDE, THE PICTURES. SO ON THE LET'S SEE IF YOU'LL GO BACK TO THE PICTURES REAL QUICK. SO LET'S SEE ON YOUR LEFT THE PICTURE THAT IS ONE OF OUR TEACHERS WHO IS AN INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT WHO GOT HIRED AS A TEACHER THIS YEAR. THE TWO THAT ARE ON THE KIND OF RIGHTISH SIDE ARE WHEN WE WENT OVER TO LHS AND SPOKE WITH THE HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS THAT ARE TRYING TO BECOME EDUCATORS AND THE ONE IN THE MIDDLE THAT YOUNG MAN WITH KIND OF LIKE THE MOHAWK-ISH IN THE WHITE SHORT SLEEVE SHIRT. HE IS AN LEHS GRADUATE. THAT'S ACTUALLY TONI NELSON'S SON, WHO HAS BEEN HIRED AS A PARAPROFESSIONAL AT CHAVEZ. SO THOSE ARE SOME OF OUR GROW YOUR HOME SUCCESS STORIES. THANK YOU. ON THE NEXT SLIDE. OUR EMPLOYEE CHILDCARE PROGRAM IS A BIG BENEFIT OF BEING AN EMPLOYEE HERE IN LITTLE ELM ISD. WE OFTEN AS WE ARE HIRING NEW FOLKS IN OUR DISTRICT, WE OFTEN BRAG ABOUT OUR EMPLOYEE CHILDCARE PROGRAM, AND IT'S REALLY A RECRUITING TOOL THAT WE UTILIZE. [01:20:08] SO OUR CHILDCARE PROGRAM, I WAS ABLE TO TALK WITH CARRIE MCHUGH AND GOT SOME DATA I WANTED TO SHARE WITH YOU ALL. THEY HAVE BEEN GOING FOR 25 YEARS, SO THIS IS THEIR 25TH SILVER ANNIVERSARY OF OUR EMPLOYEE CHILDCARE PROGRAM. THEY HAVE REALLY HIGH STANDARDS. THEY HAVE BETTER CLASSROOM RATIOS HERE AT OUR CHILDCARE PROGRAM, RIGOROUS TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR STAFF. THEY'VE BEEN AWARDED THE 2021 CHILDCARE PROVIDER OF THE YEAR AWARD BY THE WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS OF NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS. THEY DO ALSO PARTNER WITH OUR STUDENTS TO GIVE THOSE KIDDOS HANDS ON EXPERIENCES THAT OUR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS COME OVER TO THE CHILD CARE AREA OVER AT ZELLARS TO LEARN ABOUT PROVIDING A CHILD CARE AND NURTURING FOR THOSE LITTLE KIDDOS. WE HAVE CURRENTLY 77 CHILDREN ENROLLED AT OUR DAYCARE NEXT DOOR. THOSE 77 CHILDREN REPRESENT 62 LEISD EMPLOYEES OR FAMILIES. WE HAVE 17 STAFF MEMBERS THERE, INCLUDING OUR DIRECTOR, CARRIE, AND THEN WE HAVE A SMALL WAITLIST OF FIVE KIDDOS ON THE WAITLIST. SO WE'RE REALLY PROUD OF OUR EMPLOYEE CHILDCARE PROGRAM. THIS IS A SELLING TOOL WHENEVER WE'RE TRYING TO GET STAFF MEMBERS TO JOIN OUR DISTRICT. WE CONTINUED OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH ESS IN 23-24 TO FILL OUR SUBSTITUTE NEEDS. TONIGHT, I'LL SHARE SOME DATA WITH YOU ABOUT OUR 2023 2024 FILL RATES AT BOTH THE ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY LEVEL. LAST YEAR WE HAD OVER 200 ACTIVE SUBS, WHICH REALLY HELPED CONTRIBUTE TO SOME REALLY HIGH FILL RATES. WE'VE BEEN WE WERE MOST PLEASED WITH ESS THIS PAST YEAR BECAUSE OF THESE HIGH FILL RATES THAT YOU'LL SEE HERE ON THE SCREEN. SO YOU SEE IT BROKEN DOWN. THIS IS OUR ELEMENTARY SLIDE. YOU'LL SEE IT BROKEN DOWN BY CAMPUS THERE. SO THE THE VERY BOTTOM LINE SHOWS THAT LIKE BRENT HAD 91% FILL RATE THIS PAST YEAR. THAT'S UP FROM 84. THE NUMBER IN RED IN PARENTHESES IS THE 22-23 NUMBER. SO THAT WAS AN INCREASE OF SEVEN PERCENTAGE POINTS FOR BRENT AT CHAVEZ THEY WERE AT 93 WHICH IS UP FROM 85. HACKBERRY THEIR FULL RATE FOR THE YEAR WAS 93 UP FROM 86. LAKEVIEW'S WAS AT 93 UP FROM 88. AND SO ON AND SO FORTH. ALL OF THEM SAW INCREASES OF BETWEEN 6 TO 9 PERCENTAGE POINTS HIGHER OF A FILL RATE IN 23-24 THAN IN THE PREVIOUS YEAR. OF COURSE, ZELLARS WE DON'T HAVE PREVIOUS YEAR DATA BECAUSE IT WAS THEIR FIRST YEAR OPEN. ON THE NEXT SLIDE YOU'LL SEE THE SAME DATA. BUT FOR OUR SECONDARY CAMPUSES, REALLY BIG INCREASES HERE, EXCEPT FOR ONE COLUMN, THE LEISD ADMINISTRATION BUILDING. THAT'S LIKE OUR AIMS, GOALS. THERE IS A SLIGHT DROP THERE AT AIMS AND GOALS OF 2%. BUT OUR HIGH SCHOOL 11 PERCENTAGE POINTS HIGHER WITH THE FILL RATE MIDDLE STRIKE TEN PERCENTAGE POINTS HIGHER. THEY WERE AT 83% LAST YEAR. WALKER, EVEN MORE 15% INCREASE IN THE FILL RATE. SO REALLY BIG JUMPS AT OUR SECONDARY LEVEL. AND AGAIN WE ATTRIBUTE THAT TO ONE INCREASED LIKE KIND OF MORE INTENSE RECRUITING EFFORTS FROM ESS AND A MUCH LARGER SUBSTITUTE POOL HAVING OVER 200 SUBSTITUTES IN THE POOL REALLY SUPPLIES US WITH ENOUGH SUBS TO HAVE A HIGH FILL RATE. SO THAT'S ESS AT A GLANCE. NEXT THESE ARE THE 23, 24 AREAS OF FOCUS. SO WHEN I WAS STANDING HERE AT THIS TIME LAST YEAR, SEPTEMBER OF 23 THESE ARE THE AREAS OF FOCUS THAT WE IDENTIFIED THAT HR WAS GOING TO REALLY HONE IN ON. SO I PUT SOME CHECK MARKS LIKE CHECK. WE DID THAT, CHECK. WE DID THAT. SO ADOPT A LOBO WAS AN AREA OF FOCUS. WE WERE ABLE TO EXECUTE THAT THIS PAST YEAR. LEADERS OF THE PACK WAS A FOCUS AGAIN CHECK. WE WERE ABLE TO EXECUTE THAT. OUR GROW YOUR HOME INITIATIVES WAS ANOTHER AREA OF FOCUS THAT I SPOKE WITH YOU ABOUT LAST YEAR, AND WE WERE ABLE TO DO THAT. THE ONE THAT HAS LIKE A LITTLE WORK IN PROGRESS, LITTLE SYMBOL NEXT TO IT IS OUR GROW YOUR HOME, SPECIFICALLY WHEN IT RELATES TO TAFE, OUR TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF FUTURE EDUCATORS. WE'RE STILL WORKING ON THAT. THE HIGH SCHOOL IS REALLY BUILDING THAT STUDENT GROUP RIGHT NOW. IT'S HAVING SOME LOW MEMBERSHIP STRUGGLES. AND SO WE'RE WORKING CONTINUING TO PARTNER WITH MISS HARDIN AND NOW MISS GENTRY AT THE HIGH SCHOOL. SO THAT'S A WORK IN PROGRESS. I WOULDN'T PUT A CHECK MARK BY IT JUST YET, BUT WE ARE STILL WORKING ON IT. SO HERE'S OUR 24-25 AREAS OF FOCUS. WE WANT TO DO EVEN MORE WITH STAFF RETENTION. SO OUR HR DEPARTMENT IS GOING TO BE VERY INTENTIONAL ABOUT ENGAGING WITH OUR FIRST AND SECOND YEAR NEW LITTLE ELM STAFF, NEW TO LITTLE ELM STAFF. WE'RE GOING TO ATTEMPT TO DO THAT THROUGH PARTNERING WITH CAMPUS ADMINISTRATORS TO CONNECT WITH THOSE FIRST AND SECOND YEAR STAFF MEMBERS, MAYBE AT A SCHEDULED FACULTY MEETING, ASK THOSE FIRST AND SECOND YEAR MEMBERS TO EITHER ARRIVE EARLY OR STAY LATE. WE DON'T WANT TO PUT ANOTHER DATE ON THEIR CALENDAR, SO WE WANT TO DO IT IN CONJUNCTION WITH SOMETHING THEY'RE ALREADY DOING, LIKE A FACULTY MEETING. [01:25:02] SO THAT'S AN AREA OF FOCUS. OUR SECOND AREA OF FOCUS IS KIND OF WHAT I TOLD YOU IS STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS. ON THE LAST SLIDE, WE REALLY WANT TO CONTINUE TO FOCUS IN ON A PARTNERING WITH OUR TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF FUTURE EDUCATORS CHAPTER, WHICH IS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL. SO THAT'S WHAT WE'LL BE LOOKING AT. THESE LAST TWO SLIDES ARE JUST SOME GENERAL DATA ABOUT THIS DISTRICT RIGHT NOW. SO WE WERE THIS GOING INTO THE SCHOOL YEAR. WE HIRED 116 PROFESSIONAL NEW PROFESSIONALS TO OUR DISTRICT, 55 PARAPROFESSIONALS AND AN AUXILIARY. WE HAVE THREE FOLKS WHO ARE STUDENT TEACHERS LAST YEAR WHO HAVE BECOME HIRES, WHO HAVE BEEN HIRED AS TEACHERS FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR. AND I ALREADY MENTIONED WE HAD FOUR THAT WERE PROMOTED FROM A TEACHER'S ASSISTANT TO A TEACHER. OUR CURRENT VACANCIES. NOW I SAY CURRENT. THIS WAS AS OF LAST WEEK, BUT AS OF LAST WEEK WE HAD 11 PROFESSIONAL VACANCIES. EIGHT OF THEM ARE TEACHERS AND SEVEN PARAPROFESSIONAL VACANCIES. AND I WILL SAY THAT THOSE VACANCIES, THAT IS MUCH LOWER THAN IT'S BEEN LIKE THE LAST THREE YEARS. WE WORKED REALLY HARD TO FILL VACANCIES THIS PAST YEAR, AND WE HAVE VERY FEW THAT ARE UNFILLED AT THIS POINT, SO WE'RE SUPER PROUD OF THAT. THE NEXT AND FINAL SLIDE ARE SOME DISTRICT STATISTICS. AND WE HAVE 1024 FULL TIME EMPLOYEES, 4 PART TIME, 547 TEACHERS. WE HAVE FIVE STUDENT TEACHERS IN OUR DISTRICT AT THIS MOMENT AND 15 OBSERVERS, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE WHO JUST COME IN FOR LIKE SHORT PERIODS OF TIME TO OBSERVE OUR CLASSROOMS. AND THEN THE SUBSTITUTES AND ESS THAT'S HOW THEY'RE BROKEN DOWN BY EDUCATION LEVEL 83 NON-DEGREED 109 DEGREED AND 32 CERTIFIED SUBSTITUTES. SO THAT CONCLUDES OUR HR ANNUAL REPORT. I'M HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. ALL RIGHTY. AND YOU ARE UP NEXT TO TALK ABOUT OUR CLASS SIZE REPORT. I AM SO WITH THE CLASS SIZE REPORT AGAIN. EVERY SEPTEMBER WE BRING TO YOU A CLASS SIZE REPORT LIKE KIND OF AS NUMBERS HAVE SETTLED IN ACROSS THE DISTRICT. SO WE'LL START WITH OUR ELEMENTARY. YEP. OUR ELEMENTARY AVERAGE CLASS SIZES. SO HERE YOU HAVE EVERY SINGLE CAMPUS BROKEN DOWN. THANK YOU. OKAY. THANKS. AND OBVIOUSLY ZELLAR'S IS THE ONLY PRE-K, SO THEIR CLASS SIZE AVERAGE IS 16.3. AND THEN YOU CAN JUST LOOK AT EVERY SINGLE GRADE LEVEL THERE IT'S BROKEN DOWN BY CAMPUS. OBVIOUSLY IN PRE-K THROUGH FOUR, THE STATE'S RATIO IS 22 TO 1. AND YOU CAN SEE THAT FOR PRE-K THROUGH FOUR, WE ARE FALLING ON AVERAGE. WE'RE FALLING BELOW THAT 22 TO 1 RATIO. THERE'S A COUPLE OF AREAS IN LIKE FOURTH GRADE WHERE IT GETS ITS OR. AND THEN THERE'S I SEE THERE'S ONE FIRST GRADE AT LAKEVIEW THAT'S AT LIKE 21.5, A COUPLE OF FOURTH GRADE AREAS THAT ARE AVERAGING IN THE 21 AREA. BUT OTHER THAN THAT THERE'S DEFINITELY SPACE BETWEEN WHERE WE ARE ON AVERAGE IN THE 22 TO 1 STATE RATIO. THEN YOU LOOK AT FIFTH GRADE, OBVIOUSLY, FIFTH GRADE DOES NOT FALL UNDER THAT 22 TO 1 RATIO. AND WE DO HAVE SEVERAL AREAS. CHAVEZ PRESTWICK ESPECIALLY THAT ARE ABOVE THE 22 TO 1 RATIO. BUT WITH THE FIFTH GRADERS, THE OLDER STUDENTS WE'RE NOT FINDING THE PRINCIPALS AT THOSE CAMPUSES AREN'T FINDING THAT THOSE NUMBERS ARE CAUSING THEM ANY STRUGGLES OR ANY HEARTACHE. NEXT, LOOKING AT THE SECONDARY NUMBERS SPECIFICALLY MIDDLE SCHOOL SECONDARY. SO THESE ARE OBVIOUSLY THE FOUR CORE CONTENT AREAS BROKEN DOWN BY CAMPUS STRIKE AND WALKER. WE HAVE REALLY VERY, VERY MANAGEABLE MATH CLASS SIZES AT BOTH CAMPUSES, 20.5 AND 18. SCIENCE AND HISTORY AND ENGLISH ARE ALL IN THE 24-25 RANGE IN TERMS OF THE CLASS AVERAGE. WHEN YOU MOVE TO THE FAR RIGHT OF THESE OF THIS CHART, THEN YOU SEE THE RANGES. OBVIOUSLY, MASTER SCHEDULING CREATES SOME DIFFICULTIES WITH, YOU KNOW, ALL THE THINGS THAT KIDS ARE IN, WHETHER IT'S ATHLETICS OR, YOU KNOW, BAND AND ORCHESTRA. SO YOU DO SOMETIMES HAVE CLASSES THAT ARE SMALL AND SOME CLASSES THAT ARE LARGE. SO. SO YOU'LL SEE THE LOW END, LIKE THE SMALLEST SCIENCE CLASS OR THE SMALLEST HISTORY CLASS, AND THEN ALSO THE HIGH END, THE LARGEST SCIENCE OR HISTORY CLASS AT BOTH CAMPUSES. WHEN WE THINK ABOUT AVERAGE CLASS SIZES AND WHAT WE'RE SHOOTING FOR, THE STATE OBVIOUSLY DOES NOT GIVE US RATIOS ON SECONDARY CLASSROOMS LIKE THEY DO ON OUR ELEMENTARY CLASSROOMS, BUT WE TEND TO TRY TO SHOOT FOR THE 25 TO 26 AVERAGE CLASS SIZE, AND WE'RE CERTAINLY HITTING THAT IN MOST OF THESE CONTENT AREAS. THEN MOVING TO HIGH SCHOOL, YOU'LL SEE A VERY SIMILAR SLIDE FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL AS WHAT YOU JUST SAW FOR A MIDDLE SCHOOL. THEY ARE THE LOWEST CONTENT AREA WITH THE SMALLEST CLASS AVERAGE SIZE IS IN ENGLISH, WHICH IS PROBABLY VERY BENEFICIAL, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE EOC TESTS THAT ARE THERE IN ENGLISH ONE AND ENGLISH TWO. AGAIN, YOU'LL SEE THE RANGES THE LOWEST CLASS SIZE IN EACH OF THOSE CONTENT AREAS, AS WELL AS THE HIGHEST ON THE HIGH SIDE. [01:30:03] SO THAT'S OUR CLASS SIZE, AVERAGE DATA FOR THE START OF SCHOOL. AND I'M HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE. ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS? NOT YET. NOT YET. THANK YOU SO MUCH MISS BROWN, THANK YOU. NEXT ON THE AGENDA IS CITIZEN INPUT. DO WE HAVE ANY CITIZEN INPUT MS. FLORES? NO, MA'AM. ALRIGHTY. AND NOW WE MOVE INTO ACTION TO THE APPROVAL OF MINUTES. [9. Approval of Minutes ] WE WILL CONSIDER THE APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM OUR PUBLIC HEARING MEETING ON JUNE 24, 2024. IS THERE A MOTION TO ACCEPT? SO MOVED. MR. ENGLISH. MR. BEBER SECONDS. ALL IN FAVOR OF THE APPROVAL OF THESE MEETING MINUTES RAISE YOUR HAND. ANY OPPOSED? ANY ABSTENTIONS. MR. FLORES. NEXT UP IS CONSIDERING THE APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM OUR REGULAR MEETING ON AUGUST 19TH. ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS? WE'LL CONSIDER A MOTION TO APPROVE. SO MOVE. MR. ENGLISH MADE THE MOTION. SECOND. MR. BURTON SECONDED. ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE YOUR HAND. ARE THERE ANY ABSTENTIONS? AND THEN NOW WE ARE ON TO ACTION ITEMS. [10. Action Items ] FIRST UP, MR. JAMES. GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT WATKINS, BOARD OF TRUSTEES, MR. LAMB. I'M COMING TO YOU TODAY. I'M PRESENTING THE THE LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL ADDITION AND RENOVATION. THIS PROJECT RIGHT HERE WILL BE PAID FOR THROUGH THE 2022 BOND THAT WAS PASSED. JUST TO GIVE YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THIS PROJECT, IT IS GOING TO BE IT'S A 30 MONTH PROJECT. IT WILL START SOMEWHERE IN NOVEMBER. WE'RE LOOKING AT PROBABLY MID NOVEMBER BEFORE WE START CONSTRUCTION. PBK IS THE ARCHITECT FOR THIS PROJECT. IT'S A REALLY, REALLY EXCITING PROJECT FOR THE DISTRICT AND BALFOUR BEATTY WILL BE THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER ON THE PROJECT. THIS PROJECT IN ALL, IT WILL CONSIST OF CLASSROOM ADDITIONS, GYMNASIUM ADDITIONS AND AUXILIARY GYM. AND ALSO WE WILL BE RELOCATING THE TENNIS COURTS. WE'RE LOOKING AT ABOUT 200,000FT², OVER 200,000FT² OF SPACE WE'RE GOING TO ADD TO OUR LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL. SO I'M PRESENTING YOU THE MASTER BUDGET AND THE GMP THE MASTER BUDGET CAME IN AT 120,000,700. I MEAN, $120,075,904.70. WITH ALL OF THAT BEING SAID, YOU KNOW THIS IS GOING TO BE A VERY, VERY THE WORD I'M LOOKING FOR. WE'RE GOING TO BE DOING THIS ON AN ACTIVE CAMPUS, SO IT IS GOING TO BE A VERY, VERY I WANT TO SAY IT'S DIFFICULT, BUT IT'S GOING TO BE CHALLENGING PROJECT. SO. BUT WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. WE HAVE A REALLY GOOD TEAM WITH BALFOUR BEATTY AND PBK. THAT BEING SAID, THE ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS THE APPROVAL OF THE MASTER BUDGET AND THE GMP AND AUTHORIZE THE SUPERINTENDENT OR HIS DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS. CONTRACT DOCUMENTS. IS THERE A MOTION? MR. OLSON MADE THE MOTION. IS THERE A SECOND? SECOND. I HEARD MR. BEBER FIRST. MR. BEBER MADE THE SECOND. IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION OR QUESTIONS? YEAH, I GOT ONE TOO. MICKEY WHAT WAS THE ORIGINAL BUDGET? I CAN'T REMEMBER. THE ORIGINAL BUDGET WAS 94. HOW MUCH? WELL, THE ORIGINAL CONSTRUCTION BUDGET WAS 94 MILLION. OKAY. AND WHAT DID WE PUT IN THE BOND FOR IT? WE PUT IN, I THINK IT IS $148 MILLION IN THE BOND. WE PUT 148 OF IT. YES. SO WE'RE UNDER BUDGET FOR THE BOND, BUT OVER. BUT WELL OVER BECAUSE OF THE INFLATION. YES. AND THIS IS JUST PHASE ONE OF THE PROJECT. OKAY. SO WHAT'S TOTAL. OKAY. SO JUST PHASE ONE. SO IT LEAVES US 28 MILLION FOR THE REST OF THE PHASES. YES. THAT WE'RE GOING TO DO UP THERE. YEAH. FOR THE SECOND PHASE. AND JUST TO GIVE YOU A LITTLE BREAKDOWN, BECAUSE I GAVE YOU THE FULL PROJECT BUDGET, $120 MILLION IS THE PROJECT BUDGET, NOT THE CONSTRUCTION BUDGET. THE CONSTRUCTION BUDGET IS IS $105 MILLION. OKAY THAT'S THE CONSTRUCTION BUDGET. [01:35:01] RIGHT. BECAUSE WE GOT THE ARCHITECTS AND THE OTHER STUFF THERE. YES. THE SOFT COST ARCHITECTS. RIGHT. YEAH. STUFF LIKE THAT. OKAY. YEAH. I SEE, I SEE THE GMP AT 105. OKAY. OKAY. THE ONE QUESTION I DO IS HAVE, MICKEY, THANK YOU MUCH FOR PRESENTING THIS. HOW ARE WE WORKING WITH THE CITY AS FAR AS TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT, LOGISTICS, YOU KNOW COMMUNICATING WITH THE COMMUNITY BECAUSE IT'S GOING TO BE A BIT OF A CHALLENGE. WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TRUCKS, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE, YOU KNOW, HEAVY EQUIPMENT, ETC.. YEAH. SO WE'VE HAD A FEW MEETINGS WITH THE CITY. WE'VE ALSO MET WITH THE CAMPUS. AND THE I MEAN, THE CITY, THEY VOICED SOME CONCERNS ABOUT TRAFFIC AND THINGS OF THAT SORT, BUT WE'RE GOING TO WORK OUT A LOT OF THAT WITH THE CAMPUS. AND IF WE NEED TO, YOU KNOW, AS FAR AS I MEAN, I THINK THEY EVEN ASKED US FOR AN ADDITIONAL RESOURCE OFFICER, MAYBE TO HELP WITH TRAFFIC DOING ARRIVAL AND RELEASE. SO BUT YEAH, WE'VE BEEN IN CONSTANT CONTACT WITH THEM TALKING ABOUT ALL OF THESE THINGS. WE'VE MET WITH THE FIRE MARSHAL. OF COURSE, THEY'VE HAD THEIR CONCERNS AS FAR AS TRAFFIC PATTERNS AND EGRESS AND EVERYTHING LIKE THAT. BUT WE HAVE A REALLY, REALLY GOOD TEAM. PBK THEY'VE BEEN REALLY ON TOP OF IT. SO HAVE BALFOUR BEATTY. I MEAN I THINK OUR CHALLENGE NOW IS TO JUST TO GET A, YOU KNOW, IT'S ACTUALLY TO GET THROUGH THE CITY WITH PERMITS AND STUFF LIKE THAT, AND SO WE CAN GET STARTED. BUT BUT YES, WE'VE HAD ALL THOSE MEETINGS AND AND I THINK WE'LL BE GOOD. OKAY. MIKE, DID YOU GUYS COME BACK TO US? AND JUST KIND OF LET US KNOW WHAT THOSE KIND OF PLANS ARE WITH THAT, YOU KNOW, TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT AND SOME OF THAT CONSTRUCTION. I'M NOT SURE IF THEY LIKE OR NEED A BATCH PLAN OR ANYTHING ELSE NEXT, YOU KNOW, NEXT TO SCHOOL OR WHAT ARE SOME OF THE THINGS THAT THEY MAY NEED? BUT IT'S GOOD TO COMMUNICATE TO THE COMMUNITY AT, YOU KNOW, HEY, YOU KNOW, GIVE THEM 2 OR 3 MONTHS, LET THEM KNOW THIS IS COMING. YEAH. YEAH. I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY NOTICE THIS COMING. SO HAVE PERMITS AND EVERYTHING BEEN GRANTED OR IS THAT IN PROCESS? IT IS IN PROCESS. OKAY. YEAH. YEAH. YOU SEE ANY MAJOR OBSTACLES OR STANDARD. [LAUGHTER] YOU KNOW, I MEAN, THAT'S A LOADED QUESTION WITH CITIES YOU JUST REALLY JUST DON'T KNOW. YOU'RE KIND OF AT THEIR MERCY. IT'S ALMOST LIKE LAKEWOOD VILLAGE THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROJECT. YOU KNOW, IT'S YOU CAN'T LET THE MERCY OF WHAT THE CITY IS GOING TO ASK FOR OR. I MEAN, YOU CAN THINK YOU HAVE EVERYTHING, AND IT COULD BE ONE SMALL ITEM THAT THEY JUST COME UP WITH OUT OF THE BLUE. AND IT MIGHT NOT BE ANYTHING IN THEIR PACKAGE, BUT IT'S SOMETHING THAT SOMEBODY WANTS. AND WHEN YOU HAVE TO RESUBMIT, WELL, YOU HAVE YOU HAVE TO RESUBMIT. WHEN YOU RESUBMIT, THAT STARTS THE CLOCK OVER AGAIN. YOU HAVE, WHAT, TWO, THREE WEEKS THAT THEY GIVE THEMSELVES TO LOOK AT THIS STUFF AGAIN. SO IT COULD BE, YOU KNOW, CHALLENGING SOMETIMES. OKAY. WHAT IS THE APPROXIMATE COMPLETION DATE. WELL 30 MONTHS FROM NOVEMBER. SO WE'RE LOOKING AT MAY OF 27. AND JUST TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT'S GOING TO BE GOING ON ON THIS CAMPUS. THE SECOND PHASE IS GOING TO OVERLAP WITH THE FIRST PHASE. SO WE MIGHT BE AT LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL FOR FOUR YEARS. SO WILL WE NEED ANY LEARNING COTTAGES FOR THAT ONE YEAR 26-27 YEAR. I MEAN, ARE WE GOING TO BE OKAY? I MEAN, WE'RE ACTUALLY A LITTLE DOWN, SO IT'S HANDLE [INAUDIBLE]. IT'S WE'RE ABLE TO HANDLE IT. MANAGEABLE. BUT THAT COULD CHANGE, I GUESS, PENDING SOME OF THESE NEIGHBORHOODS COMING ON DURING THAT TIME AND INCREASING OUR POPULATION. SO I KNOW THEY'VE TALKED A LOT ABOUT, YOU KNOW, BASICALLY HAVING TO SHUT DOWN THAT WING WHILE IT'S KIND OF BEING BUILT. SO IT COULD CREATE SOME SCENARIOS WHERE WE ALL OF A SUDDEN DO FEEL LIKE WE NEED SOME LEARNING COTTAGES. BUT AS OF RIGHT NOW, WE DON'T HAVE WE SAID HOW MUCH PERCENTAGE? I MEAN, WE HAVE SHUT DOWN THE WHOLE WING, RIGHT? JUST JUST LIKE RIGHT NOW, YOU CAN WALK EITHER THROUGH THE MIDDLE OR THE END. RIGHT? YOU GOT TO GO BACK TO GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE END TO GET BACK AND FORTH. OKAY. SO IT'S NOT NECESSARILY SHUT DOWN. YEAH. RIGHT. AND WE GO BACK TO THAT WHICH IS NOT GOOD OR CONVENIENT, BUT IT'S DOABLE FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. THERE IT IS. AND WE CAN LET YOU SEE THE LOGISTICS PLAN THAT THE CONTRACTOR IS GOING TO PUT TOGETHER WHAT THE ARCHITECT AND THE CONTRACTOR KIND OF WORKED ON IT, AND WE CAN LET YOU SEE THAT ALSO. YEAH, I'D BE INTERESTED TO UNDERSTAND. I MEAN, WE GOT KIND OF I CALL THEM CONSTRUCTION TIME PERIODS, RIGHT, WHICH IS SUMMERTIME, YOU KNOW, SPRING AND FALL BREAK'S ARE REALLY GOOD [01:40:07] CONSTRUCTION TIMES. YOU KNOW, AFTER CHRISTMAS, YOU DON'T HAVE ANYBODY IN SCHOOL SYSTEMS AT THE TIME. IT'S GOING TO POSE SOME, SOME CHALLENGES. I MEAN, THEY'RE GOING TO BE TIMES THAT WE'RE GOING TO WANT TO SHUT DOWN THE SCHOOL FOR THE WHOLE SUMMER. AND I KNOW WE HAVE SUMMER SCHOOL AT THE HIGH SCHOOL. SO, I MEAN, THAT MIGHT BE A TIME THAT WHERE WE MIGHT HAVE TO CUT POWER TO THE WHOLE SCHOOL. SO YEAH, IT'S GOING TO BE SOME CHALLENGES AHEAD WITH IT. OKAY. YEAH. I'D LOVE TO HEAR IT COME BACK TO US WITH SOME IDEAS OF HOW WE PLAN TO HANDLE SOME OF THESE KIND OF CHALLENGES. OKAY. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE YOUR HAND. ALL OPPOSED? ALL RIGHT, MICKEY, YOU GOT YOUR MONEY. MOTION CARRIES. TAKE A DEEP BREATH OF FRESH AIR. YOUR 120 MILLION DOLLARS. $120 MILLION TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. OKAY. AND YOU ARE UP NEXT FOR THE CONSIDER THE APPROVAL OF THE CHANGE ORDER AT LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY. YEAH. SO THIS CHANGE ORDER IS SOMETHING THAT CAME ABOUT AFTER WE APPROVED THE GMP. IT'S $412,000 AND 660. I MEAN 1200, $412,669. THIS IS FOR TO ADD AV EQUIPMENT TO EACH CLASSROOM. SO YOU WILL HAVE A AUDIO AND VIDEO IN EACH TEACHING ROOM. AND THIS IS FOR LESSONS. I MEAN, YOU CAN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO RECORD YOUR LESSONS, AND I GUESS THEY'LL BE ABLE TO SHARE THEM THAT'S WHAT I GOT FROM IT. AND ALSO, IT COULD ACT AS A A FORM OF SECURITY ALSO. CAN I SPEAK TO THIS? THIS IS KIND OF MY. YOU GOT TO MAKE A MOTION FIRST. GOT TO MAKE A MOTION FIRST. IS THERE A MOTION? SO MOVED. MR. ENGLISH MADE THE MOTION. IS THERE A SECOND? SECOND. MR. BEBER MADE THE SECOND. NOW YOU CAN GO. MR. LAMB. THANK YOU. THIS CHANGE ORDER IS ON ME. I KNOW MICKEY LIKES TO. HE'S LIKE THAT FOOTBALL COACH THAT WANTS TO BE TEN AND ZERO. AND IN ANY CHANGE ORDER KIND OF TAKES AWAY FROM THAT. BUT THIS IS A PRODUCT I'VE BEEN INTERESTED IN A LONG TIME. IT IT DOES SEVERAL THINGS. IT COMES WITH KIND OF A SPEAKER AND SPEAKERS THROUGHOUT THE ROOM WHERE TEACHERS DON'T NECESSARILY HAVE TO YELL TO, TO TEACH YOU, WEAR THIS LANYARD. FROM THERE THERE'S A PUSH BUTTON, EMERGENCY THINGS THAT ARE KIND OF THE NEW UP AND COMING THING IN OUR WORLD OF SAFETY, BUT SIMILAR TO THE LITTLE GLOBES, YOU SEE, LIKE IN A STORE AND STUFF, THERE'S CAMERAS IN THE CLASSROOM, AND IT ORIGINATED IN TIMES OF COVID. TEACHER CAN HIT A BUTTON AND RECORD THEMSELVES DOING A LESSON. HAVE IT UPLOADED LATER. THAT GETS A LITTLE CONTROVERSIAL. NOT ALL TEACHERS LIKE TO RECORD THEMSELVES OR THINK THAT THEY CAN BE WATCHED THAT EASILY. BUT THIS SAME SYSTEM IN AN INSTANCE WHERE THERE'S A LOCKDOWN AND STUDENTS, WE COULD ACTUALLY, IN AN EMERGENCY BASIS, LOOK IN AND ACTUALLY SEE WHAT'S GOING ON. I'M MOST INTERESTED FOR THE TWO SAFETY COMPONENTS. THERE'S OTHER COMPONENTS, THE SOUND COMPONENT THE VIDEO COMPONENT POSSIBLY FOR LESSONS. BUT YOU KNOW, THIS COMES A LITTLE BIT CONTROVERSIAL. YOU'LL HEAR A LOT OF TEACHERS SAY, I DON'T WANT THAT. I DON'T WANT TO BE VIDEOED. WE CAN REMEDY THAT KIND OF STUFF. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO PUT THIS SYSTEM IN. I THINK WE HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE CUTTING EDGE AND AHEAD OF THE GAME IN A LOT OF PLACES. I MISINTERPRETED THE TIMING FOR WHEN I COULD ASK FOR THAT TO HAPPEN. SO THIS IS A DEAL WHERE I ASKED A LITTLE LATE AND IT REQUIRES A CHANGE ORDER. BUT MY TAKE IS HAD WE KNOWN CORRECTLY IN THE FRONT END, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE AND BEEN THERE ALL ALONG. OKAY, SO THIS IS MY REQUEST AND ON ME, NOT SOMETHING MICKEY MESSED UP. SO THIS IS FOR ALL SCHOOLS. WELL, WE'RE GOING TO DO IT IN LAKEWOOD VILLAGE. AND THAT GIVES US THE OPPORTUNITY TO DETERMINE IF WE'LL REALLY USE IT AS INTENDED, AND IF IT'S GOING TO BE AS GOOD AS WE THINK. AND THEY HAVE THE CAPABILITIES OF RETROFITTING THESE SYSTEMS. SO IF WE LIKE THEM AND USE THEM AS INTENDED, I CAN SEE US PUTTING THEM IN MORE AND MORE SCHOOLS AND BECOMING A A STANDARD OF WHAT WE HAVE. BUT THIS IS OUR OPPORTUNITY TO TRY IT ONCE AND SEE IF IT'S SOMETHING WE'LL REALLY UTILIZE FOR THE LAKEWOOD VILLAGE ELEMENTARY. OKAY. GOTCHA. SO FOR THE NEW ELEMENTARY. YES. AT THIS POINT. OKAY. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? IS THAT ONLY GOING TO BE IN CLASSROOMS, MIKE? I BELIEVE SO. OKAY. YEAH. WE ONLY HAVE IT IN CLASSROOMS RIGHT NOW ON THE PLANS. YEAH, WE TYPICALLY PUT OUR OWN CAMERAS IN HALLWAYS AND THINGS LIKE THAT. SO WE'LL HAVE BASICALLY BOTH WILL EXIST. [01:45:05] ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE YOUR HAND. ALL OPPOSED? MOTION CARRIES. MR. OLSON. NEXT ITEM IN ORDER IS DOCTOR TRAMEL FOR OUR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN. GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT WATKINS, BOARD OF TRUSTEES, MR. LAMB. WE ARE COMING TONIGHT TO SEEK APPROVAL OF OUR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN. AND I GUESS I'LL HAVE TO TURN THIS. AS YOU ALL ARE AWARE CHAPTER 11, SECTION 11.251, SAYS THAT THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES SHALL ANNUALLY APPROVE DISTRICT AND CAMPUS PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES, AND ON AUGUST THE 27TH, THE DISTRICT EDUCATION IMPROVEMENT COUNCIL APPROVED THE GOALS FOR THE 24-25 DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN. YOU HAVE A HANDOUT. IT'S JUST KIND OF A SHORTENED VERSION WITH THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES IN FRONT OF YOU. OUR PLAN THIS YEAR IS ACTUALLY 38 PAGES LONG WITH ALL THE ACTION STEPS. SO I'VE PROVIDED FOR YOU WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO APPROVE. AND WE'LL REVIEW THAT AT THIS TIME. THE GOALS WILL LOOK FAMILIAR BECAUSE WE HAVE ALIGNED THOSE TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN. OUR FIRST GOAL DEALS IN THE AREA OF MAINTAINING SAFE, SECURE AND HEALTHY LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS CONDUCIVE TO LEARNING. OUR SPECIFIC RESULT OR OBJECTIVE WOULD BE TO HAVE CAMPUSES WHERE STAFF AND STUDENTS FEEL SAFE AND SECURE, AS EVIDENCED BY CAMPUS AND DISTRICT SURVEYS. AND AS YOU ARE AWARE, WE'VE DONE SOME THINGS WITH FOB ENTRY INTO CLASSROOMS CONTROLLED ENTRY POINTS INTO OUR SCHOOLS. THIS INVOLVES THE TECHNOLOGY SAFETY STEPS THAT WE HAVE TAKEN. THE NEXT GOAL IS IN THE AREA OF CURRICULUM AND LEARNING, WHERE WE WILL PROVIDE A WRITTEN, TAUGHT, AND ASSESSED CURRICULUM THAT PROVIDES EQUITABLE RIGOR FOR ALL STUDENTS. RIGOR IS SOMETHING THAT WE REALLY WANT TO FOCUS ON. AS YOU KNOW, I STARTED IN LITTLE ELM IN 2022, THE SUMMER OF 2022, AND WE HAD TRAINING THAT FALL IN UNDERSTANDING BY DESIGN TO RE VAMP OUR CURRICULUM. AND I HAVE TO BRAG ON THE COORDINATORS AND OUR TEACHERS WHO ARE CURRICULUM WRITERS. THIS WAS OUR SECOND SUMMER TO WORK ON THE CURRICULUM AND THEY HAVE DONE A PHENOMENAL JOB. WE HAVE GREAT SUPPORTS IN PLACE FOR OUR TEACHERS. SPECIFIC RESULT OR OBJECTIVE WOULD BE TO SUPPORT THE CAMPUSES IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF STAGE THREE OF THE CURRICULUM TO PROMOTE INDIVIDUAL STUDENT SUCCESS. AND AS YOU ALL KNOW AND APPROVED, WE HAVE A K-12 SCIENCE ADOPTION WHERE THE TEKS WERE REVAMPED SIGNIFICANTLY AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL. AND ALL OF THAT CURRICULUM IS READY TO GO. BUT WE DO NEED TO SUPPORT CAMPUSES IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THAT SAME THING WITH OUR PHONICS PROGRAM, OUR EUREKA MATH PROGRAM AND SOME OF THE OTHER INITIATIVES LIKE SCIENCE OF TEACHING READING THAT WE HAVE GOING ON. THE NEXT GOAL IN THE AREA OF CURRICULUM AND LEARNING WOULD BE TO SUPPORT A CONSTRUCTIVIST LEARNING ENVIRONMENT IN SCHOOLS TO PROMOTE MEANING MAKING, RISK TAKING, AND EMPOWERMENT FOR THE WHOLE CHILD. SPECIFICALLY, WE WILL IMPLEMENT STUDENT CENTERED, DIFFERENTIATED TIER ONE INSTRUCTION IN CLASSROOMS THAT INCLUDE TARGETED STRATEGIES FOR SPECIFIC GROUPS OF STUDENTS. SO WE SEE THAT FLEXIBLE GROUPING. THIS GOAL AND OBJECTIVE IS REALLY ABOUT MEANING MAKING LIKE HOW KIDS ARE PROCESSING THE LEARNING. ARE THEY THINKING RIGOROUSLY? WE'RE IMPLEMENTING THINGS LIKE THE THINKING CLASSROOM. WE'RE REALLY FOCUSING ON MTSS FOR THAT DIFFERENTIATION PIECE. WE HAVE SOME INTENTIONAL THINGS BUILT IN FOR OUR GIFTED AND TALENTED LEARNERS. SO THIS IS A PRETTY ROBUST GOAL AND OBJECTIVE. THE NEXT CURRICULUM AND LEARNING GOAL IS IN THE AREA OF CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION OR CCMR CAREER COLLEGE MILITARY READY AND SPECIFICALLY BY DECEMBER 2024, COMMUNITY COLLABORATION BETWEEN LOCAL BUSINESSES AND STUDENT WORK BASED LEARNING WILL INCREASE AS MEASURED BY STUDENT INTERACTION WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. AND THEN ALSO BY THE END OF THIS SCHOOL YEAR, 90% OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS WILL UTILIZE SCHOOL LINKS TO INCREASE ACCESS TO CAREER, COLLEGE AND MILITARY [01:50:04] READINESS. SO THIS IS ACTUALLY A PIECE OF SOFTWARE WHERE PARENTS AND KIDS CAN SEE WHAT GRADUATION PLAN THE KIDS ARE ON AND THEN WHAT CLASSES THEY NEED TO TAKE NEXT. IT WILL ALSO GIVE THEM REAL TIME CAREER, COLLEGE AND MILITARY READINESS STATUS SO PARENTS CAN GO IN AND CHECK, KIDS CAN GO IN AND CHECK. SO WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INTEGRATE THAT WITH SOME THINGS THAT OUR COUNSELORS ARE DOING. SO WE'RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT OPPORTUNITY WITH THAT LEARNING GOAL AND OBJECTIVE. THE LAST CURRICULUM AND LEARNING SERVICES GOAL DEALS IN THE AREA OF PERSONALIZED LEARNING EXPERIENCES THAT SUPPORT TEACHERS IN MEETING THE SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, AND ACADEMIC NEEDS OF ALL OF OUR STUDENTS. WE HAVE TWO OBJECTIVES ARE SPECIFIC RESULTS IN THIS AREA. ONE IS THAT 100% OF OUR TEACHERS WILL DEMONSTRATE INCREASED EFFICACY USING RESEARCH BASED INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES AS MEASURED BY STUDENT GROWTH ON NORMED ASSESSMENTS. AND THEN 100% OF OUR MENTORS WILL COMPLETE THE REQUIRED TRAINING IN ORDER TO EFFECTIVELY SUPPORT OUR MENTEES IN THEIR FIRST AND SECOND YEAR OF TEACHING. THE NEXT AREA THAT WE WILL LOOK AT IN THE DIP IS OUR FOR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN IS IN THE AREA OF RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS. AS YOU ALL KNOW, THIS WAS ADDED TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN. THIS GOAL DEALS WITH ENGAGING EACH STUDENT, STAFF, AND COMMUNITY MEMBER IN LEARNING EXPERIENCES THAT FACILITATE BUILDING AND MAINTAINING RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS. SPECIFICALLY, WE WANT TO CREATE A SYSTEM OF SUPPORT TO IMPROVE BEHAVIOR AND DECREASE DISCIPLINE REFERRALS AND TO PROVIDE MORE TOOLS FOR ADULTS AND STUDENTS TO REGULATE AND RESPOND APPROPRIATELY. AND AS WE LOOK AT THIS WE, YOU KNOW, WE'VE BROUGHT BACK FRIENDS OF LITTLE ELM ISD MISS ROBERTS IS GOING TO DO THINGS LIKE HOST FOR OPEN MEETINGS FOR SPECIAL POPULATIONS. SO WE HAVE SOME THINGS GOING ON THAT WE, WE HOPE WILL HELP US ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL. AND I KNOW THAT YOU ALL KNOW MR. BARTLETT IS KIND OF AND MISS ROBERTS ARE HEADING UP OUR CONSCIOUS DISCIPLINE INITIATIVE WITH OUR STAFF AND STUDENTS. GOAL SEVEN IS IN THE AREA OF COMMUNITY RELATIONS, AND THAT IS TO BUILD TRUST, SUPPORT AND INVOLVEMENT. IN ORDER TO DO THIS OUR OBJECTIVE IS TO ACHIEVE A COMMUNITY TRUST INDEX OF 85% OR HIGHER, REFLECTING HIGH LEVELS OF TRUST AND POSITIVE SENTIMENT AMONG PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS. SO MISS JONES AND HER TEAM WILL BE WORKING ON THAT, BUT WE WILL ALL WORK TOWARD THAT AS WELL. IN THAT SAME AREA OF COMMUNITY WE WANT TO FOSTER RELATIONS WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO ENHANCE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES. AND IN THIS PARTICULAR OBJECTIVE, WE WANT TO INCREASE PRESENCE IN RETIRED COMMUNITIES BY HOSTING TWO EVENTS A SCHOOL YEAR AND CONNECT THREE SCHOOLS TO A LEARNING ENVIRONMENT THAT TEACHES COMMUNITY SERVICE. IN PARTICULAR, MISS JONES HAS SOME THINGS PLANNED WITH THE SENIOR CENTER AND SENIOR OUTREACH EVENTS. ALSO WE WOULD LIKE TO CONNECT STUDENTS WITH PARTICIPATING IN THE SAINT ARBOR COMMUNITY GARDEN AND DOING SOME SERVICE LEARNING IN THAT AREA. OUR NEXT GOAL IS MISS BROWN COVERED THIS BEAUTIFULLY. BUT TO RECRUIT, RECOGNIZE, AND RETAIN HIGH QUALITY AND EFFECTIVE PERSONNEL TO SUPPORT STUDENT SUCCESS AT EVERY LEVEL. SHE MENTIONED SOME OF THESE VERY THINGS. SO SHE AND HER TEAM HAVE PUT TOGETHER A ROBUST PLAN AND WILL CONTINUE FORWARD SOME OF THE THINGS THAT THEY HAVE BEEN DOING IN THIS AREA TO BE SURE THAT OUR RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION AND EMPLOYEE SATISFACTION IS HIGH AND THE RETENTION IS HIGH. THE RETENTION AND RECRUITMENT IS HIGH IN THE AREA IN THAT WE HAVE A LOT OF APPLICANTS IN OUR APPLICANT POOL. AND THEN THEY DO A GREAT JOB OF RECOGNITION WITH OUR HONOREE BANQUET, CARPOOL KUDOS AND THINGS LIKE THAT. AND THEN LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST, IS IN THE AREA OF FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY. WE WANT TO ENSURE FUNDING FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING OPERATIONS AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS TO SUPPORT STUDENT SUCCESS AT EVERY LEVEL. IN ORDER TO DO THAT, AS YOU ALL KNOW, WE WILL BE HAVING A TRANSITION IN OUR BUSINESS DEPARTMENT, AND THE GOAL IN THIS AREA IS TO NAVIGATE [01:55:10] LEADERSHIP TRANSITION WHILE MAINTAINING HIGH LEVELS OF CUSTOMER SERVICE AND A STRONG FINANCIAL POSITION, AS EVIDENCED BY A BALANCED BUDGET, CLEAN AUDIT AND EXTERNAL RECOGNITIONS. AND WITH THAT AND THAT, I HAVE ALSO LINKED IN OUR DRAFT PLAN. IT WOULD BE A DRAFT UNTIL YOU ALL APPROVE IT. BUT WITH THAT I WOULD ENTERTAIN ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS. IS THERE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN. SO MOVED. MR. BURTON MADE THE MOTION. SECOND. SECOND. MR. BEBER MADE THE SECOND. ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS? THERE BEING NONE. ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE YOUR HAND. ALL OPPOSED? ANY ABSTENTIONS? NOPE. ALRIGHTY. WE ARE MOVING ON. THANK YOU MS. TRAMEL. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, DR TRAMEL. NEXT UP, WE HAVE MISS ASHELEY BROWN. I BELIEVE WE HAVE A HIRING RECOMMENDATION. ALL RIGHT, BOARD OF TRUSTEES. SO WE ARE BRINGING TO YOU ALL THIS EVENING OUR RECOMMENDATION FOR, AS YOU KNOW, SHAY ADAMS, OUR ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT FOR BUSINESS AND FINANCE SERVICES, IS ON THE VERGE OF RETIREMENT. AND SO WE ARE ACTUALLY CHANGING THE TITLE OF THAT POSITION FROM ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT FOR BUSINESS AND FINANCE SERVICES TO CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER. AND SO WE'RE BRINGING TO YOU OUR RECOMMENDATION FOR CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER AS MISS ADAMS RETIRES. SO THE ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE HIRE OF THE NEW CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER, AS WAS DISCUSSED IN CLOSED SESSION. IS THERE A MOTION TO APPROVE AS THE MOTION AS THAT WE DISCUSSED MR. MONTEMAYOR. IS THERE A SECOND? SECOND. MR. OLSON SECONDED. ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE YOUR HAND. ANY OPPOSITION? NOPE. ALRIGHTY. SO THEN I'D LIKE TO ANNOUNCE THAT OUR NEW CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER IS MR. JESSE WYSE. [APPLAUSE] WE'LL INTRODUCE HIM LATER. WE'RE MOVING ON TO THE NEXT ITEM IN ORDER. CONSIDER APPROVAL OF THE REVISED 2024 2025 STIPENDS. MISS BROWN, IT'S YOU AGAIN. YES, MA'AM. SO WE ARE RECOMMENDING TWO REVISIONS, TWO ADDITIONS TO OUR 24-25 STIPENDS IN YOUR BOARD BOOK. THEY WERE HIGHLIGHTED IN YELLOW. ONE OF THEM IS THE ELEVATION MANAGER STIPEND ELL THAT'S INTENTIONALLY CAPITALIZED THERE. IT'S A SOFTWARE THAT OUR CURRICULUM AND LEARNING DEPARTMENT OR TEAM USES TO CAPTURE ELL DATA, WHICH IS OUR EMERGENT BILINGUALS, AS MISS KIM CHOW-JACKSON SAID EARLIER. SO THAT'S AN ADDITION. THE SECOND ADDITION IS A LITTLE BIT FURTHER DOWN ON THAT PAGE, AGAIN HIGHLIGHTED IN YELLOW. FOR OUR TITLE FOUR PROFESSIONAL LEARNING FACILITATOR. THAT ADDITION ALSO COMES FROM OUR CURRICULUM AND LEARNING TEAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,000. THIS PERSON, AND FOR BOTH OF THESE FEDERAL FUNDS WOULD BE UTILIZED FOR BOTH OF THESE STIPENDS. SO THERE'S NO NEGATIVE IMPACT ON OUR DISTRICT'S BUDGET. WE'LL UTILIZE FEDERAL FUNDS FOR BOTH OF THOSE. SO WITH THAT, THE ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE REVISED 24-25 STIPENDS PORTION OF THE 24-25 COMPENSATION PLAN. SO MOVED. IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? OH, I'M NOT ON. IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE YOUR HAND. MOTION CARRIES. YOU ARE STILL HERE AGAIN, AND YOU GET TO GO TO THE NEXT PART. THE. CONSIDER THE APPROVAL OF THE MAXIMUM CLASS SIZE EXEMPTION. YES. THANK YOU MA'AM. SO I MENTIONED A LITTLE BIT EARLIER IN OUR CLASS SIZE REPORT THAT OUR STATE OF TEXAS STIPULATES FOR PRE-K THROUGH FOUR CLASS SIZE RATIO OF 22 TO 1. AT ANY TIME, IF WE EXCEED THAT 22 TO 1 RATIO, THEN WE HAVE TO SUBMIT A CLASS SIZE WAIVER FOR APPROVAL TO TEA. PRIOR TO US BEING ABLE TO SUBMIT A CLASS SIZE WAIVER TO TEA WE MUST BRING IT FOR THE BOARD FOR YOU ALL TO HEAR IT AND APPROVE IT FIRST. SO WE HAVE THREE CLASSROOMS IN FOURTH GRADE, DUAL LANGUAGE CLASSROOMS IN FOURTH GRADE AT OAK POINT ELEMENTARY. THOSE ARE DETAILED IN YOUR BOARD BOOK. THERE'S THREE FOURTH GRADE DUAL LANGUAGE TEACHERS, CACERES, PENALOZA AND SAGE THAT ARE CURRENTLY OVER THE 22 TO 1 RATIO. [02:00:05] SPECIFICALLY, SAGE HAS 23. PENALOZA HAS 23. CACERES HAS 24. AT THIS POINT, SO THAT THAT EXCEEDS THE STATE RATIO. SO THE ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL TO SUBMIT A CLASS SIZE WAIVER REQUEST TO THE TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY FOR THOSE THREE CLASSROOMS. IS THERE A MOTION? SO MOVED. MR. ENGLISH MADE THE MOTION. IS THERE A SECOND? SECOND. MR. BEBER MADE THE SECOND. IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION OR QUESTIONS? ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE IT. OH, SORRY, MR. BURTON. I THINK BACK ON HOW MANY POSITIONS ARE STILL OPEN. IF THOSE WERE FILLED, NO, WE DON'T HAVE ANY VACANCIES. YES. ALL THE VACANCIES ARE THERE'S NO VACANCIES AT OAK POINT ELEMENTARY. SO THE VACANCIES DOESN'T IMPACT THE NEED FOR THIS WAIVER. OUR DUAL LANGUAGE NUMBERS AT THAT GRADE LEVEL AT OAK POINT, FOURTH GRADE ARE HEALTHY. VERY HEALTHY. AND SO THAT'S THE ONLY REASON VACANCIES ARE NOT A FACTOR IN THIS. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? THERE BEING NONE. ALL IN FAVOR, RAISE YOUR HAND. MOTION CARRIES. THANK YOU. AND LAST, ON THE ACTION ITEMS, WE ARE GOING TO CONSIDER THE APPROVAL OF THE RESOLUTION OF OUR TAX RATE. MR. WYSE. I DO KNOW. I DO. GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT WATKINS, BOARD, SUPERINTENDENT LAMB, FIRST OF ALL, THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH FOR THE OPPORTUNITY. I'M EXCITED, LOOKING FORWARD TO WORKING WITH THIS GREAT GROUP OF FOLKS SERVING OUR CAMPUSES AND OUR COMMUNITY. SO I APPRECIATE THAT. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. BUT AND ALSO THANK YOU FOR SAVING THE MOST ENTHRALLING PRESENTATION TO THE END. WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TONIGHT TO SET OUR TAX RATE FOR THE YEAR. AND JUST A QUICK REMINDER TO OUR COMMUNITY, YES, WE APPROVED THE BUDGET BACK IN JULY 3RD MONTHS AGO OR IN JUNE 3RD MONTHS AGO. BUT BECAUSE WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ACTUALLY SET OUR TAX RATE UNTIL TEA GIVES US OUR, THEY CALL IT THE MAXIMUM COMPRESSED RATE IN AUGUST. WE HAVE TO WAIT ON THAT. SO WE HAD TO WAIT TILL WE GET THAT. AND NOW WE CAN ACTUALLY ADOPT THE TAX RATE TONIGHT THAT SUPPORTS THE BUDGET THAT WE ADOPTED BACK IN JUNE. KIND OF A QUICK HISTORICAL LOOK AT WHERE WE'RE AT. REMEMBER IN 2019 THEY CHANGED THE LAWS FOR HOW THEY'RE CALCULATING THE RATE AND THEY'RE INTRODUCING THE COMPRESSION, WHICH WE ALL REALLY DO APPRECIATE. COMPRESSING THE TAX RATE, BECAUSE WE WERE SEEING CRAZY EXPONENTIAL GROWTH IN THE STATE OF TEXAS. BUT ALSO REMEMBER THAT WITH THAT COMES A LOT OR TOOK OUT A LOT OF OUR AUTONOMY FOR SETTING OUR TAX RATE. LIKE I SAID, WE GET THE MAXIMUM COMPRESSED RATE FROM THE STATE IN AUGUST AND WE ADD OUR TIER TWO PENNIES, OR WHICH ARE THE GOLDEN AND COPPER PENNIES, ABOUT 13.83 PENNIES TO THAT. AND THAT'S OUR TAX RATE. AND THE STATE DESIGNS THAT FORMULA SUCH THAT EVERY TAX RATE IN THE STATE IS WITHIN ABOUT 90%. THE TOP AND THE BOTTOM ARE 90% APART. SO EVERY TAX RATE FALLS IN BETWEEN THERE. SO WE ACTUALLY DON'T HAVE VERY MUCH AUTONOMY AT ALL IN TERMS OF HOW WE OR WHAT WE SET OUR TAX RATE FOR. SO THIS IS WHERE WE'RE AT FOR THIS YEAR. WE ARE DROPPING A TAX RATE IS DECREASING A WHOPPING 0.0023 PENNIES PER $100 OF TAXABLE VALUE. IT'S GOING DOWN. IT'S STILL. THAT'S MY FAVORITE PART. SO WE ARE DECREASING OUR TAX RATE. IT'S NOT VERY MUCH KIND OF HOLDING YEAR OVER YEAR BECAUSE WE DIDN'T GROW THAT MUCH DIFFERENT THAN THE STATE IT'S BASED. YOUR CHANGE IS REALLY BASED ON HOW YOU GROW VERSUS THE STATE'S PROJECTION OF HOW THEY THOUGHT THE STATE WAS GOING TO GROW VERSUS YOUR ACTUALS. AND A REMINDER THIS IS FROM LAST YEAR, BUT JUST A REMINDER TO ALL OF OUR COMMUNITY, THE STATE, DID INCREASE THE HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION BY 60,000 LAST YEAR. SO REMINDER TO ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS, IF YOU'RE A HOMEOWNER IN OUR DISTRICT AND YOU'RE NOT TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION, DO APPLY FOR THAT, WHICH ALSO LEADS INTO THE FACT THAT SHIFTING REVENUE AROUND, WHETHER IT'S TAX RATE OR STATE AID FOR THE DISTRICT, DOES NOT REALLY CHANGE OUR CUP SIZE VERY OFTEN, VERY MUCH. YOU'VE YOU'VE SEEN THIS FROM SHAY A BUNCH THE THE GLASS SIZE. BASICALLY THE STATE CALCULATES OUR FORMULA ENTITLEMENT, WHICH IS THE AMOUNT OF REVENUE WE'RE GOING TO GET FOR THE YEAR. AND THEN BASED ON HOW OUR PROPERTY VALUES DO, WHETHER THEY GO UP OR DOWN, IF TAX TAXES GO UP, STATE AID GOES DOWN. IF TAXES GO DOWN, STATE AID GOES UP. [02:05:02] SO THE DOLLAR THAT OUR CHILDREN RECEIVE DOESN'T REALLY CHANGE THAT MUCH. IT'S GOING TO BE THAT SET AMOUNT DOESN'T CHANGE REGARDLESS OF WHAT OUR TAXES DO. THEY'RE GOING TO LET YOU FILL IT UP WITH THE LOCAL PROPERTY TAXES FIRST AND THEN TOP IT OFF WITH THE STATE AID. SO TONIGHT WE ARE PROPOSING A TAX RATE OF 0.7552 FOR THE MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS AND MAINTAINING OUR DEBT RATE OR INTEREST AND SINKING RATE OF 0.47 PER $100 OF TAXABLE VALUE. IT'S A TOTAL TAX RATE OF 1.2252 PER $100 OF TAXABLE ASSESSED PROPERTY VALUES. AND PRESIDENT WATKINS, THERE IS A RATHER LENGTHY MOTION WITHIN THE AGENDA ITEM TO READ TO ADOPT THAT TAX RATE. BUT BEFORE WE JUMP INTO THAT, THE TAX, THE MOTION THAT MISS WATKINS WILL READ DOES MENTION AN INCREASE IN TAX RATE IN THE TAX RATE OR INCREASE IN TAXES, WHICH IS WEIRD WHEN YOU HAVE A DECREASING TAX RATE. BASICALLY WITHIN YOUR BACK UP THERE, THERE'S THE CALCULATION THAT WE GOT FROM THE COUNTY ASSESSOR, TAX COLLECTOR, ASSESSOR THAT SHOWS HOW THE CALC THE CALC FOR THE TAX RATE. THERE IS A SEPARATE, NOT HIDDEN, BUT CALCULATED COMPLETELY SEPARATE FROM THAT RATE. THAT IS KIND OF COMPARING A YEAR OVER YEAR PER PUPIL NUMBER. AND IT'S NOT USED AT ALL IN HOW WE CALCULATE OUR TAX RATE. WE, LIKE I SAID, WE GET THE MCR FROM THE STATE. WE HAD OUR GOLDEN AND COPPER PENNIES AND THERE'S YOUR RATE. BUT IF THAT RATE THAT WE HAVE IS LARGER THAN THAT SEPARATE OTHER RATE CALCULATED SOMEWHERE ELSE, THEN WE DO HAVE TO TRIGGERS THE LAW CLAUSE WHERE WE HAVE TO READ THIS INCREASE. AND THERE'S SOME JARGON IN THERE ABOUT WHAT THE ACTUAL PROPERTY TAX IS DOING THIS YEAR. IT'S THE WHOLE THING. SO THE ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS THE APPROVAL OF THAT TAX RATE. AND THEN THAT'S THE YEAH IT'S [INAUDIBLE] PARAGRAPHS. ALRIGHTY. HERE WE GO SEPTEMBER 16, 2024. ON THIS DATE, WE, THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF LITTLE ELM INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, HEREBY LEVY OR SET THE TAX RATE ON $100 VALUATION FOR THE DISTRICT FOR TAX YEAR. FOR THE TAX YEAR 2024. AT A TOTAL RATE OF $1. 22 ONE DOLLAR POINT 2252. TO BE ASSESSED AND COLLECTED BY THE DULY SPECIFIED ASSESSOR AND COLLECTOR AS FOLLOWS .07752 CENTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS, AND $0.47 FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYMENT OF PRINCIPAL AND INTEREST ON DEBTS. SUCH TAXES ARE TO BE ASSESSED AND COLLECTED BY THE TAX OFFICIALS DESIGNATED BY THE DISTRICT. THIS TAX RATE WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE. THIS RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 7.121%, AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $50.20 THIS TAX RATE CALCULATION FORMS WILL SERVE AS AN APPENDIX TO THE DISTRICT'S ADOPTED BUDGET, ADOPTED THE 16TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 2024 BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES. IS THERE A SECOND? ANY QUESTIONS? I'M SORRY, MR. FLORES SECONDED. IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? ANY QUESTIONS? ALL IN FAVOR OF SETTING THE TAX RATE, RAISE YOUR HAND. THANK YOU, MR. WYSE. MOTION CARRIES. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. THANK YOU. NEXT ON THE AGENDA IS THE CONSENT AGENDA. [11. Consent Agenda ] DOES ANYONE WANT TO PULL ANYTHING OUT OF THAT AGENDA? ALRIGHTY. WE WILL ENTERTAIN A MOTION TO APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA. SO MOVED. MR. BEBER MADE THE MOTION. IS THERE A SECOND? MR. BURTON SECONDED. IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? ALL IN FAVOR? RAISE YOUR HAND. MOTION CARRIES. AND NOW WE ARE AT THE END. [12. Board President Comments ] I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE OF OUR CABINET MEMBERS FOR STAYING AS LATE AS YOU DID THIS EVENING. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I ALSO WANT TO THANK ALL THOSE THAT VOLUNTEERED THIS WEEKEND FOR THE BUILDING OF THE BEDS. IT'S A GREAT OPPORTUNITY, AND I DON'T I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF WE GET TO ASK THEM TO COME BACK. I THINK THEY WERE QUITE IMPRESSED WITH THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT SHOWED UP AND THANK THEM FOR THAT. I ALSO WANT TO THANK MRS. JONES AND HER COMMUNICATION TEAM FOR THE INFORMATION THAT CAME OUT FOR THE SOMEWHAT EXPECTED OR DISINFORMATION THREATS THAT ARE TWO MIDDLE SCHOOLS THIS WEEK. I LOOK FORWARD TO US BEING ABLE TO DO MORE PROACTIVE STUFF IN THAT SUBJECT OF KEEPING OUR STUDENTS SAFE. BUT I APPRECIATE THE RAPID RESPONSE THAT YOU AND YOUR TEAM PUT TOGETHER. THANK YOU. JUST A COUPLE OF THINGS. I'M ACTUALLY ORGANIZING A SIMILAR EVENT WITH OUR CHURCH FOR SOME TIME NEXT YEAR. IT'S THE SAME ORGANIZATION. WE'RE GOING TO GET THE YOUTH OF OUR CHURCH, AND MAYBE WE CAN PARTNER AND GET SOME MORE VOLUNTEERS FROM THE DISTRICT TO MAKE MORE THAN 30 BEDS, RIGHT WITH ENOUGH VOLUNTEERS. SO STAY TUNED. WE'LL SEE THAT NEXT YEAR. THE OTHER THING IS, I KNOW YOU KNOW THAT I REPRESENT THE DISTRICT FOR THE LITTLE ELM FOOD BANK, AND MR. BRONNER WILL BE RETIRING IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. WE WANT TO HAVE ANOTHER FOOD CAN DRIVE, AND WE LIKE TO COLLECT AS MUCH FOOD KIND OF AS A RECOGNITION FOR HIM AND SEE HIM OFF IN A BIG BANG AS POSSIBLE. THE FOOD BANK DOES NEED VOLUNTEERS ON SATURDAYS, AND THEY'VE ASKED ME TO ASK THE DISTRICT TO SEE IF WE COULD GET MORE YOUTH TO PARTICIPATE ON SATURDAY MORNINGS. SO I DON'T KNOW WHO WE MAYBE NEED TO CONTACT TO KIND OF COORDINATE THAT WITH THE FOOD BANK. SO. THANK YOU. MR. LAMB, YOU ARE UP. [14. Superintendent Comments ] THANK YOU. YES, MA'AM.
