SO WE'LL START WITH INTRODUCING YOU TO OUR BRAND NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR CONSTRUCTION SERVICES, MR. MICKEY JAMES, WILL YOU JOIN ME? [APPLAUSE] SO MICKEY HAS SPENT THE LAST YEAR AS A CONTRACT MANAGER WITH DALLAS ISD, AND BEFORE THAT, HE WAS A CONSTRUCTION MANAGER FOR FRISCO ISD FOR SIX YEARS.

AS WE KNOW, FRISCO WAS BOOMING AND DID A LOT OF BUILDINGS AND A LOT OF CONSTRUCTION, SO HE GAINED A LOT OF VALUABLE EXPERIENCE THERE.

[00:05:02]

HE SERVED IN A VARIETY OF ROLES IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY.

HE WAS A CONSTRUCTION COORDINATOR AT MCKINNEY ISD FOR THREE YEARS, PROJECT MANAGER AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS FOR A YEAR.

SO HE HAS SOME HIGHER EDUCATION CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE AS WELL.

ANDY SPENT THREE YEARS AS A BUILDING INSPECTOR FOR THE CITY OF GARLAND.

SO WIDE AND VARIED EXPERIENCES IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY.

HE'S ALSO BEEN A CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER FOR HIGHLAND HOMES.

SO THAT'S HIM PROFESSIONALLY, ON A MORE PERSONAL NOTE.

MICKEY JAMES, HAS BEEN MARRIED TO HIS WIFE, ALICIA FOR 18 YEARS.

THEY HAVE TWO CHILDREN, A DAUGHTER, REAGAN, WHO IS 15 YEARS OLD AND A SON NAMED IAN, WHO IS 12 YEARS OLD.

HE IS ALSO A DAD TO A COUPLE OF POPS, A TWO [INAUDIBLE] NAMED GRADY AND TUCKS.

WHEN ASKED WHETHER HE LIKES TO DO IN HIS SPARE TIME AND WHAT HOBBIES HE HAS, HE IS A BARBECUE MASTER.

HE LOVES TO BARBECUE IN HIS SPARE TIME.

IN FACT, HE HAS A 250 GALLON SMOKER THAT WAS BUILT BY SOME CTE STUDENTS IN FRISCO WHEN HE WORKED THERE.

WE'RE HAPPY TO BE YOUR TASTE TESTERS.

SO JUST BRING IT ON UP AND WE'LL LET YOU KNOW HOW IT IS.

HIS FAVORITE SPORTS TEAM OR AND OR TEAM TO WATCH.

HE LOVES WATCHING ANYTHING SPORTS RELATED, AND HE GAVE THE CORRECT ANSWER, WHICH IS THAT HIS FAVORITE TEAM IS AMERICA'S TEAM, THE DALLAS COWBOYS.

WE CAN TO KEEP HIM AROUND BECAUSE OF THAT ANSWER.

SO THIS IS MR. MICKEY JAMES, I WANT TO GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO ADDRESS THE BOARD.

>> THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TO ADDRESS YOU TODAY.

I JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU TO THE BOARD FOR GIVING ME THIS OPPORTUNITY.

THANK YOU, MR. LAMB ALSO FOR GIVING ME THIS OPPORTUNITY.

THIS IS A VERY EXCITING TIME FOR ME.

I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO ALL PROJECTS THAT WE HAVE UPCOMING AND JUST DIVING IN AND GETTING IT DONE.

>> THEN I'D LIKE TO INTRODUCE NEXT TO YOU OUR BRAND NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR SPECIAL POPULATIONS, CHRISTIE ROBERTS. COME ON, CHRISTIE.

[APPLAUSE] CHRISTIE IS A LOBO ALREADY.

SHE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVING AS OUR ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR SPECIAL POPULATIONS FOR THE PAST YEAR.

PRIOR TO THAT, SHE WAS IN A SUPERVISOR ROLE IN DENTON ISD FOR THREE YEARS AND A SPED COORDINATOR IN MESQUITE ISD FOR 11 YEARS.

MISS ROBERTS IS EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE WITH FEDERAL SPECIAL EDUCATION REGULATIONS, EVALUATING STUDENT DATA FOR ACHIEVEMENT.

SHE REALLY IS AN EXPERT AND GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND WHEN IT COMES TO WORKING WITH KIDS AND THEIR FAMILIES, AND MAKING SURE THAT THE FAMILIES HAVE TRUST IN OUR DISTRICT, AND SO WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO HER REALLY EXCELLING IN THAT AREA.

IN TERMS OF HER ON A PERSONAL NOTE, SHE DOES HAVE A SPOUSE WHOSE NAME IS ROSS.

SHE ALSO HAS THREE KIDS, MACY, PATENT, AND CARSON.

WHEN ASKED WHAT HER FAVORITE SPORTS TEAM WAS, SHE SAID MAYBE UNDER SOME SLIGHT PRESSURE, THE DALLAS COWBOYS ARE HER FAVORITE TEAM.

THEN SHE STRANGELY SAID THAT WHAT MAKES HER LAUGH THE MOST IS HER HUSBAND.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT HER SENSE OF HUMOR IS LIKE, HONESTLY.

[LAUGHTER] THEN ALSO, A LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT CHRISTIE IS THAT WHEN SHE WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL, SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE ALL-STARS DRILL TEAM AND WON AN AWARD FOR HER HIGH KICKS AS A MEMBER OF THE DRILL TEAM.

WE MIGHT CATCH HER OUT ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD.

>> I KNOW.

>> NOT ANY LONGER. WE'RE SUPER EXCITED TO WELCOME HER INTO THE FAMILY IN A DIFFERENT ROLE THAN WHAT SHE'S PREVIOUSLY BEEN IN, AND I'D LIKE TO GIVE HER A CHANCE TO ADDRESS THE BOARD.

>> JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY.

I'M VERY HONORED AND EXCITED TO BE HERE.

WE HAVE A LOT OF PLANS AND ARE CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF COMPLETING LAST FEW POSITIONS ON OUR TEAM, AND WE ARE VERY EXCITED AND READY TO ENGAGE OUR STUDENTS AND OUR FAMILIES IN SOME POSITIVE WAYS AND DO SOME NEW AND EXCITING THINGS. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

>> AWESOME. THANK YOU, MISS ROBERTS.

>> THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU, CHRISTIE. FINALLY, THE LAST NEW STAFF MEMBER THAT WE'LL BE INTRODUCING TO YOU TONIGHT IS OUR BRAND NEW PRINCIPAL OF WALKER MIDDLE SCHOOL, WHICH IS MS. CHRISTI SILCOX.

CHRISTI, COME ON. [APPLAUSE] CHRISTI, MOST RECENTLY SERVED AS THE PRINCIPLE OF THE SECONDARY CAMPUS IN WEST HARDIN COUNTY CONSOLIDATED ISD, WHICH IS NEAR BEAUMONT, TEXAS.

SHE'S PRIOR TO THAT, ALSO SERVED AS A MIDDLE SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL FOR THREE YEARS.

THEN SHE'S BEEN A TEACHER,

[00:10:01]

HAS TAUGHT EVERYTHING FROM ELEMENTARY TO MIDDLE TO HIGH SCHOOL.

SHE'S BEEN A PUBLIC EDUCATOR FOR 27 YEARS AND HAS EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN ALL AREAS OF EDUCATION, SPECIFICALLY IN PLCS AND DATA-DRIVEN INSTRUCTION.

TO TOP ALL OF THAT OFF, SHE WAS NAMED THE REGION FIVE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR IN 2019.

WE'RE SUPER EXCITED FOR CHRISTI TO BRING HER SERVICES AND HER TALENTS TO OUR DISTRICT.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE, MS. SILCOX HAS GROWN CHILDREN.

SHE HAS HER SON, JAYS, WHICH IS HER OLDEST SON.

HE'S MARRIED TO CHLOE, HER DAUGHTER-IN-LAW.

MIDDLE SON, DYLAN, AND THEN HER YOUNGEST DAUGHTER IS NAMED KELLYANNE.

IN HER SPARE TIME SHE LIKES TO SWIM AND READ.

WHEN I ASKED HER WHAT HER FAVORITE TEAM WAS OR SPORTS TEAM, SHE SAID LIKE NOT APPLICABLE, LIKE HER FAVORITE SPORTS THING TO WATCH IS THE SUPER BOWL COMMERCIALS.

[LAUGHTER]

>> YOU NOW THEY'RE GOOD.

>> THEY ARE GOOD. THEY'RE FUN. LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT CHRISTI IS THAT SHE IS FROM THE COAST NEAR CRYSTAL BEACH, SOUTHEAST TEXAS.

BEING NEAR WATER IS HER VERY FAVORITE PLACE TO BE.

WE'RE, AGAIN, REALLY THRILLED TO WELCOME YOU TO THE FAMILY, AND THEN YOU CAN ADDRESS THE BOARD

>> WHEN I WAS LISTENING TO THE OTHER PEOPLE BE INTRODUCED, I WAS THINKING, WHAT DID I WRITE ON THAT THING AGAIN? I CAN'T REMEMBER WE'VE BEEN SO BUSY.

BUT AS THE OTHER SAID, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE OPPORTUNITY.

I'M THRILLED TO BE HERE.

THANK YOU, MR. LIAM.

THE WATER THING, WE STAYED HERE IN FEBRUARY ON THE LAKE, MY FAMILY AND I.

TWO OF MY GROWN KIDS LIVE IN THE COLONY IN PLANO.

WE JUST LOVE THE AREA, AND OBVIOUSLY, I LOVE WATER.

WHEN I WAS LOOKING, I'VE RESEARCHED YOUR SCHOOL AND JUST ALL THE GREAT THINGS GOING ON.

IT'S FUNNY THERE'S A LOT OF CONNECTIONS IN SOUTHEAST TEXAS TO LITTLE ELM.

I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE POPPED UP AND YOU WOULDN'T THINK THAT BEING SO FAR AWAY.

MY KIDS LAUGHED BECAUSE I SAID IF LITTLE ELM OFFERS, THAT'S WHERE I'M GOING WAY BACK BEFORE ANY OF THIS STARTED.

I JUST THINK IT WAS MEANT TO BE.

WE HAVE BEEN VERY BUSY OVER AT WALKER.

BUT I'M SUPER IMPRESSED WITH THE PEOPLE THAT I'VE MET, THEIR PASSION FOR WHAT THEY'RE DOING HERE, THEIR EXPERTISE, THEIR DEDICATION EVEN IN THE SUMMER TO GETTING THINGS READY AND GETTING THE RIGHT EMPLOYEES IN PLACE AND THINGS FOR FALL.

I AM VERY ENERGIZED AND EXCITED.

I'M FINALLY MOVING IN ON JULY 10TH TO MY HOME.

I'M READY TO SETTLE DOWN AND MAKE IT MY HOME. THANK YOU.

>> PERFECT. WELCOME, MS. SILCOX.

[APPLAUSE]

>> THANK YOU, MR. LIAM. THAT CONCLUDES OUR SUPERINTENDENT SPOTLIGHT.

>> THANK YOU. WE'LL GO TO THE REPORTS OF THE SUPERINTENDENT.

[8. Reports of the Superintendent]

>> ARE YOU GOING TO DO THE TRASH?

>> I DON'T KNOW.

GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT OLSEN, BOARD OF TRUSTEES, MR. LIAM.

I AM STANDING IN FOR DR. GLOVER THIS EVENING AND WANTED TO INFORM THE BOARD OF OUR INTENT TO APPLY FOR FEDERAL PROGRAM FUNDING.

SPECIFICALLY, WE WOULD LIKE TO APPLY FOR THE ESSER CONSOLIDATED FEDERAL GRANT APPLICATION THAT INCLUDES TITLE I, II, III, AND IV.

THE STRENGTHENING CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION GRANT, WHICH IS OUR PERKINS GRANT.

WE USE IT FOR CTE TO HELP WITH OUR CTE PROGRAM.

SPECIAL EDUCATION CONSOLIDATED GRANT, THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN, HOMELESS II GRANT, THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN ESSER III GRANT.

REALLY THAT GRANT IS A GRANT THAT WE HAVE, AND IT LASTS THROUGH NEXT YEAR.

WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE THAT AND EXPEND THOSE MONIES TO CLOSE THE GAP WITH STUDENTS.

THEN AN ADDITIONAL GRANT OPPORTUNITY, THE STATE CAME OUT WITH A SAFETY GRANT, IN THE AMOUNT OF OVER $400,000 THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE A PART OF.

SPECIFICALLY, IF WE LOOK AT THE FUNDING AMOUNTS, YOU'LL SEE THE GRANT PERIODS LISTED ON THE RIGHT COLUMN, AND THEN YOU'LL SEE THE FUNDING AMOUNTS FOR EACH ONE OF THE GRANTS, JUST MENTIONED, LISTED IN THE CENTER COLUMN.

OUR TOTAL GRANT PARTICIPATION WOULD BE AROUND $2,832,582.

ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS, COMMENTS ABOUT THAT?

>> ANY QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD?

>> THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH DR. TREMLE AND YOU GET THE NEXT ONE TOO, THE DESTINATION 2025 DISTRICT GOALS A DAY.

>> COULD I GET IT PULLED UP.

THIS WILL BE JUST A REPORT ON OUR DESTINATION 2025 STRATEGIC PLAN.

[00:15:08]

AS YOU ALL KNOW THIS PLAN IS FOCUSED IN FOUR GOAL AREAS.

THE AREA OF TEACHING AND LEARNING, ENSURING PHYSICAL HEALTH AND SUSTAINABILITY OUR BUSINESS OFFICE, HUMAN CAPITAL WHICH IS OUR HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICE AND THEN COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT WHICH IS OUR COMMUNICATIONS OFFICE.

WE HAVE ALIGNED THOSE STRATEGIC PLAN GOALS TIGHTLY TO OUR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN TO ENSURE THAT WE ARE WORKING ON THE GOALS THE COMMUNITY ESTABLISHED FOR US TO WORK ON.

WE'LL TALK ABOUT THE FIRST GOAL AND THE FOCUS AREA OF TEACHING AND LEARNING.

SPECIFICALLY THE GOAL IS CURRICULUM AND LEARNING SERVICES WILL PROVIDE A GUARANTEED AND VIABLE CURRICULUM THAT ENSURES ALL STUDENTS HAVE EQUAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES AND IN ORDER TO DO THAT, THERE WERE SEVERAL SPECIFIC RESULTS.

THE FIRST ONE BEING THAT ALL TEACHERS WILL IMPLEMENT THE LISD CURRICULUM WITH FIDELITY AND THAT'S EVIDENCED BY STEPS OF CURRICULUM WRITERS, COACHES, COORDINATORS, DIRECTORS, ADMINISTRATORS BEING TRAINED IN THE METHODOLOGY IN WHICH THE CURRICULUM IS WRITTEN, WHICH IS A BACKWARDS DESIGN OR AN INQUIRY BASED MODEL CALLED UNDERSTANDING BY DESIGN AND THIS IS EVIDENCED BY THE RECORDS THAT WE HAVE OF ALL THE TRAININGS THAT WE'VE HAD.

WE'RE CONTINUING THOSE TRAININGS THROUGH THE SUMMER AND WE'LL INTO THE FALL AND WE ACTUALLY HAVE A THREE-YEAR PLAN SO THAT WE HAVE VERY CLEAR UNDERSTANDING AND STRONG CRAFTSMANSHIP IN MORE OF A CONSTRUCTIVIST MODEL OF TEACHING.

IN ADDITION WE CONDUCTED WALKTHROUGHS AND ADMINISTRATORS CONDUCTED WALKTHROUGHS AND WE KEPT RECORDS AT THOSE WALKTHROUGHS TO MONITOR THE CURRICULUM BEING IMPLEMENTED.

WE HAVE OUR DOCUMENTATION OF THAT WITH OUR T-TESTS OBSERVATIONS AND THE CURRICULUM DEPARTMENT HAS A SEPARATE DOCUMENT THAT WE'VE KEPT TO ENSURE THAT WE MET THE NUMBER OF WALKTHROUGHS AND WE ACTUALLY EXCEEDED THE NUMBER OF WALKTHROUGHS IN OUR PLAN.

IN ADDITION TO THAT, ANOTHER AREA WAS TO ENGAGE STUDENTS IN LEARNING EXPERIENCES THAT INCREASE STUDENT GROWTH AND ACHIEVEMENT THROUGH LEVERAGING HIGH-IMPACT STRATEGIES.

SPECIFICALLY WE WANTED OUR TEACHERS WHO'VE BEEN THROUGH THE SCIENCE OF TEACHING READING ACADEMY IN GRADES K-3 TO ACTUALLY IMPLEMENT THEIR LEARNING.

THAT ACADEMY FOCUSES ON PHONEMIC AWARENESS, PHONICS AND COMPREHENSION.

IT IS A PART OF OUR HMH ADOPTION AND WE DO HAVE OTHER THINGS THAT WE INCORPORATE IN THAT BECAUSE IT JUST TO SHORE THAT UP A LITTLE BIT.

THAT IS DOCUMENTED WITH LESSON PLANS AND WE ALSO DOCUMENTED THAT IN OUR WALKTHROUGHS WHEN WE SAW PHONICS BEING TAUGHT IN THE CLASSROOMS. THEN WE HAVE A RIGOROUS GOAL, A LEARNING EXPERIENCES WILL RESULT IN AN 8% INCREASE IN STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT ON STAR.

THAT'S A BIG INCREASE BUT OUR INITIAL EOC RESULTS INDICATE THAT WE HAD A 13% IN ALGEBRA 1, A 7% IN ENGLISH 1, A 3% IN ENGLISH 2, A 7% INCREASE IN BIOLOGY AND A 7% INCREASE IN US HISTORY.

OUR PRELIMINARY DATA, WE DID GET CUT SCORES FOR OUR EOC AND SO WHEN WE LOOKED AT HOW OUR STUDENTS ACHIEVED LAST YEAR VERSUS HOW THEY LOOK THIS YEAR WITH THE CUT SCORES WE WERE GIVEN, THOSE WERE THE INCREASES.

WE'LL GET GRADES 3 THROUGH 8 IN AUGUST, SO WE'LL BE ABLE TO SEE IF WE MET THAT GOAL.

WE CERTAINLY HOPE WE MEET IT.

ANOTHER FOCUS AREA WAS HANDS-ON SCIENCE INVESTIGATIONS AND IN PARTICULAR THE STATE SAYS 80% OF THE TIME IN SCIENCE IN KINDERGARTEN AND FIRST GRADE SHOULD BE IN HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES, 60% HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES IN GRADES 2 AND 3 AND 50% IN GRADES 4 AND 5 AND THEN AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL 40% OF THE TIME STUDENTS NEED TO BE IN HANDS-ON LABS.

I WILL SAY THAT ACCORDING TO OUR MAP GROWTH DATA, IT INDICATES THAT STUDENTS IN FOURTH, SIXTH AND EIGHTH GRADE ARE NOT MEETING THEIR GROWTH TARGETS.

THIS IS AN AREA WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO FOCUS ON AND WE HOPE TO BRING IN

[00:20:02]

OUR STEM INITIATIVE TO ENSURE THAT THAT IS MORE ALIGNED WITH THAT GOAL OR THE CRITERIA IN THE COMING YEAR.

STUDENTS IN FIFTH AND SEVENTH GRADES ARE MEETING THEIR GROWTH TARGETS IN SCIENCE.

ANOTHER AREA OF FOCUS WAS THAT THE DISTRICT LEVEL LEADERSHIP WOULD BRIDGE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN WHAT TEACHERS DO IN THE CLASSROOM AND THE WORLD OF WORK AND WE HAD SEVERAL ACTIVITIES THAT WE FOCUSED ON IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH THAT.

ONE WAS ANALYZING PARTNERSHIPS AND FORMING AN EQUITY ACTION PLAN FOR PARTNERSHIPS AND EACH CTE PATHWAY.

WE DO HAVE AN ACTION PLAN FORMED AND DEFICIENCIES ARE BEING FILLED THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH A COMPANY CALLED PEOPLE WORK, THEY ACTUALLY HELP PLACE OUR STUDENTS FOR THEIR INTERNSHIPS IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR, WE WERE REALLY STRUGGLING GETTING HIGH-QUALITY INTERNSHIPS FOR SOME OF OUR STUDENTS SO WE FEEL LIKE THAT PARTNERSHIP WILL DEFINITELY BENEFIT THE STUDENTS.

THEN OUR VR AND AR PARTNERSHIP OPTIONS FOR HEALTH SCIENCE IS ALSO BEING EXPLORED.

A PARTNERSHIP WITH WING.

A COMPANY CALLED WING WAS ESTABLISHED FOR STEM AND DRONE EXPLORATION AND THIS COMPANY IS GOING TO HELP FUND COMPETITIONS FOR STUDENTS, SO WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

ANOTHER AREA WAS SECURING EQUIPMENT, SOFTWARE AND PARTNERS TO PROVIDE AUTHENTIC HANDS-ON EXPERIENCES FOR STUDENTS.

WE WERE ABLE TO GET OUR FOOD TRUCK MOVED OVER TO LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL BY THE BISTRO AREA SO THAT OUR CULINARY STUDENTS COULD USE THAT AND START TO LEARN ABOUT ENTREPRENEURSHIP USING A FOOD TRUCK.

ALSO THE GREENHOUSE HAS BEEN REPAIRED.

IT HAS BEEN IN DISREPAIR FOR A YEAR OR SO AND WE'RE IN THE PROCESS OF WRITING CURRICULUM TO FULLY UTILIZE THAT SPECIFICALLY WITH THE CULINARY DEPARTMENT AND THEN IN THE AREA OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE.

WE HOPE TO GET SOME HYDROPONIC PODS TO HELP BRING IN SOME NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN THE GREENHOUSE TO HELP DIVERSIFY THAT EXPERIENCE FOR STUDENTS.

MR. GRACIOUS AND HIS TEAM ARE WORKING ON AN ENTRY FOR THE BISTRO AND THE THE STUDENTS AT LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL DREW UP SEVERAL OPTIONS FOR THE ENTRY FACADE FOR THAT, SO WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT THAT AND THEY'RE ACTUALLY GOING TO HAVE A WALK-UP WINDOW OPTION AS WELL, SO LOTS OF THINGS GOING ON THERE.

WE DID PURCHASE SMOKERS AND HAD A SMOKER DONATED AND THE CABLES TO SECURE THEM PURCHASED AND THEY ARE AT LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL AND WE ARE HOPING TO PARTNER WITH HEB OR ESTABLISH A BARBECUE OR A SMOKER, THERE'S ALL KINDS OF COMPETITIONS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES AND SO WE'RE HOPING OUR STUDENTS CAN PARTICIPATE IN THAT IN THE COMING YEAR.

THE LAST AREA OF FOCUS WAS THAT WE WOULD ENGAGE TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS AND CURRICULUM COORDINATORS AND DIRECTORS IN TARGETED LEARNING EXPERIENCES.

THIS IS ALSO THE FOURTH GOAL OR THE FOURTH FOCUS AREA UNDER TEACHING AND LEARNING IN OUR STRATEGIC PLAN.

OUR MAIN FOCUS THIS YEAR WAS ON PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITIES AND I WILL TELL YOU THAT THE TRAINING HAS BEEN OUTSTANDING, WE HAD MULTIPLE FACE-TO-FACE TRAININGS WITH CAMPUS TEAMS AND CENTRAL OFFICE.

THEN EACH PRINCIPAL HAD 10 VIRTUAL COACHING SESSIONS WITH THEIR OWN PRIVATE COACH AND THEN WE HAD PLC COACHES FROM SOLUTION TO COME OUT AND ACTUALLY AUDIT AND ASSIST PRINCIPLES IN LEADING THOSE, SO THAT PRINCIPALS WERE VERY COMFORTABLE IN FACILITATING THAT LEARNING STYLE FORMAT FOR TEACHERS AND BASICALLY FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT MAY BE NEW AND NOT KNOW THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF THE PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITIES IS TO USE STUDENT DATA TO PLAN TARGETED, HIGHLY IMPACTFUL INSTRUCTION FOR STUDENTS.

THEN THE SECOND AREA WAS THAT 65 ADDITIONAL TEACHERS WOULD COMPLETE THEIR STEM CERTIFICATION AND 100% OF THE TARGETED 2022- 23 BLENDED LEARNING GRANT TEACHERS WOULD COMPLETE THEIR TRAINING IN THE BLENDED LEARNING PEDAGOGY.

I WILL SAY WE HAD PLENTY OF TEACHERS TO BE STEM CERTIFIED, WE DIDN'T QUITE REACH THE 65.

LIFE HAPPENS AND THINGS COME UP BUT WE WERE ABLE TO ACHIEVE OUR GOAL OF BEING NATIONAL STEM CERTIFIED, SO WE HAD PLENTY OF TEACHERS FOR THAT.

IN ADDITION 100 PERCENT OF THE TARGETED BLENDED LEARNING TEACHERS WERE TRAINED AND THAT TRAINING INVOLVED NOT ONLY THE TRAINING BUT WE ALSO

[00:25:01]

CONDUCTED WALKTHROUGHS TO GO OUT AND USED A RUBRIC TO RATE THEM ON THEIR IMPLEMENTATION OF BLENDED LEARNING AND GAVE THE TEACHERS AND PRINCIPALS SPECIFIC FEEDBACK AND THEN WE MET BACK TOGETHER WITH THEM AND THEY FORMED A PLAN OF ACTION FOR IMPROVEMENT BEFORE THE NEXT ROUND OF WALKTHROUGHS AND WE DID TWO ROUNDS OF WALKTHROUGHS ON EVERY SINGLE TEACHER THAT WAS TRAINED.

BASICALLY ONE-THIRD OF OUR TEACHERS WERE TRAINED LAST YEAR, THIS YEAR THE SECOND THIRD WERE TRAINED AND THEN THIS COMING YEAR IN 2023 THE LAST THIRD WILL BE TRAINED AND THEN WE WILL ONBOARD TEACHERS AS WE GET NEW EMPLOYEES IN THOSE STRATEGIES.

THEN LAST HIGH-YIELD STRATEGIES WOULD BE TAUGHT AND OFFERED IN THE AREA OF EMERGENT BILINGUAL.

FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT THIS MIGHT BE A NEW TERM TO, FORMERLY ESL, ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE, THE STATE HAS NOW CLASSIFIED THOSE STUDENTS AS EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENTS, GIFTED AND TALENTED NEEDS, AND IN TIER 1 INSTRUCTIONAL NEEDS.

TIER 1 INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES WERE TAUGHT TO ALL DISTRICT PERSONNEL ON PROFESSIONAL LEARNING DAYS.

GIFTED AND TALENTED UPDATES WERE OFFERED VIRTUALLY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND WE'VE HAD TWO FACE-TO-FACE SESSIONS THIS SUMMER.

I WILL SAY IN THE AREA, OUR GOAL IS TO BE 100% OF OUR TEACHERS GIFTED AND TALENTED, HIGHLY QUALIFIED.

WE HAD, AS OF MARCH, 80% OF OUR STAFF, SO WE'RE HOPING THESE TWO FACE-TO-FACE SESSIONS THIS SUMMER WILL CATCH THE REST OF OUR STAFF.

THEN OUR GOAL WOULD BE FOR 100% TO BE CERTIFIED AND UNDERSTAND HOW TO MEET THE NEEDS OF GIFTED LEARNERS BY FALL.

THEN OUR EMERGENT BILINGUAL TRAININGS OCCURRED DURING THE YEAR AND WE LEVERAGED A SOFTWARE CALLED ELEVATION FOR TEACHER USE TO HELP THEM MEET THOSE NEEDS OF THE EBS IN THE CLASSROOM.

THE SECOND FOCUS AREA OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN IS COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT.

THE GOAL BEING THAT WE WILL COMMUNICATE WITH LE ISD COMMUNITY TO BUILD TRUST, SUPPORT, AND INVOLVEMENT AS EVIDENCED BY INCREASING SOCIAL MEDIA ENGAGEMENT BY 45% ON ALL PLATFORMS. DATA INDICATES THAT WE HAD 127 INCREASE ON FACEBOOK, 113 INCREASE IN MEMBERSHIP ON INSTAGRAM, AND A 31% INCREASE ON TWITTER.

THEN ANOTHER STEP IN THAT WAS TO GO LIVE WITH THE DESTINATION DISTRICT WEBSITE, AND WE DID THAT.

THEN LE ISD WILL FOSTER RELATIONS WITH THE COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO ENHANCE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AS EVIDENCED BY ONE OF THE STEPS IN THIS WAS HOSTING AN INCREASING PARTICIPATION TO 700 RUNNERS, WHICH WAS A BIG GOAL FOR THE 633 RUN.

UNFORTUNATELY, I DON'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON IN THE WORLD OR LIFE, BUT WE WERE ONLY AT 50% OF THAT GOAL, SO WE DID NOT REACH THAT PARTICULAR GOAL.

THEN THE SECOND STEP WAS FOSTERING RELATIONSHIPS WITH BUSINESS PARTNERS AS THE SMART BRANCH WAS OPENED AND LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL AND WE HAD A VETERANS DAY EVENT THERE.

THEY DID A FOOD TRUCK WHERE ALL THE CAMPUSES PARTICIPATED.

I DIDN'T PUT THAT UP THERE, BUT THEY DID THAT AS WELL, AND THEN WE PARTICIPATED IN THEIR END OF YOUR BANQUET AND I THINK SOME OF YOU ATTENDED THAT AS WELL.

THEN TO PROVIDE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENTS, WE DID HIRE A CONSULTANT AND CONSULT WITH A PARENT ON WHAT BEST TRAINING TO GIVE OUR PARENTS AND HOW TO BETTER INVOLVE OUR PARENTS.

THAT OCCURRED AND THEN WE HAD MONTHLY PARENT EDUCATION CLASSES THROUGH OUR PARENT LIAISON.

THE THIRD AREA WAS TO FOCUS ON HUMAN CAPITAL, MS. BROWN'S DEPARTMENT.

SPECIFICALLY IN THIS AREA, THE GOAL OF WE WILL RECRUIT, RECOGNIZE, AND RETAIN HIGH-QUALITY AND EFFECTIVE PERSONNEL TO SUPPORT STUDENTS SUCCESS AT EVERY LEVEL.

ONE OF THE STEPS WAS TO TARGET RECRUITING OF HIGH-QUALITY PERSONNEL THROUGH THE LE ISD GROW YOUR OWN PROGRAMS, AS EVIDENCED BY EXPLORING PARTNERSHIPS WITH UNIVERSITIES.

AS A RESULT OF THAT STEP, WE HAVE SECURED TWO PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE GROW YOUR OWN TEACHERS PROGRAM.

THEN CONTINUING THE STUDENT GROW YOUR OWN PROGRAM BY TARGETING SENIORS WHO ARE ACTIVE IN THE TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF FUTURE EDUCATORS AT LITTLE ELM HIGH SCHOOL.

A MEETING WAS HELD THAT WAS DISCUSSED AND FOR A VARIETY OF REASONS, THAT WILL BE SOMETHING WE FOCUS ON IN THE FUTURE.

THIS YEAR WAS NOT A GOOD YEAR TO DO THAT.

THEN ANOTHER STEP WAS TO INCREASE SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE, SPECIFICALLY BY CREATING INSTAGRAM AND TIKTOK ACCOUNTS.

[00:30:02]

THOSE ACCOUNTS WERE CREATED AND ARE IN USE.

I JUST HAVE TO SAY ASHLEY DID A VIRTUAL JOB FAIR, THAT'S NOT IN HERE, IT WASN'T IN OUR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN, BUT SHE STEPPED OUT THERE AND DID THAT AND WE HAD 130 PEOPLE REGISTER AND GOT REALLY GREAT TEACHERS FROM THAT EFFORT.

SHE BLASTED OUT ON SOCIAL MEDIA CONSTANTLY AND I THINK IT WAS HIGHLY EFFECTIVE.

I BELIEVE SHE'S HAVING ANOTHER ONE COMING UP HERE IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS.

THEN POSTING TO ALL SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS A MINIMUM OF TWO TIMES PER WEEK, THE POST ARE THE EVIDENCE ON THOSE PLATFORMS. THEN STRENGTHENING RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN HR AND CAMPUS PERSONNEL.

IN ORDER TO DO THAT, CAMPUS VISITS WERE CONDUCTED TO ASK HR ONCE EACH SEMESTER AND THAT WAS COMPLETED AND THEN PLANNING AND EXECUTING AN END OF YOUR AWARDS BANQUET, WHICH WE DID AND MANY OF YOU WHO ARE IN ATTENDANCE.

IT WAS WONDERFUL. THEN CONDUCTING OUR FIRST-YEAR TEACHER CHECK-INS AND CAMPUS VISITS.

OUR FIRST-YEAR TEACHERS HAVE MENTORS AND HALF CAMPUS SUPPORT BUT JUST TO GIVE THAT EXTRA LEVEL OF SUPPORT FROM CENTRAL OFFICE.

THEN LAST BUT NOT LEAST, IS FISCAL HEALTH AND SUSTAINABILITY.

IN MS. ADAMS DEPARTMENT, THE GOAL WAS TO ENSURE FUNDING FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING, OPERATIONS AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS TO SUPPORT STUDENTS SUCCESS AT EVERY LEVEL, AS EVIDENCED BY PROVIDING LASER-FOCUSED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TRAINING FOR CAMPUSES AND DEPARTMENTS.

THAT WAS CONDUCTED AND I LISTED THE MONTHS THAT TRAININGS WERE OFFERED JUST SO YOU COULD SEE WHEN THAT OCCURRED.

THEN ANALYZING AND MODIFYING PROCEDURES TO SUSTAIN COMPLIANCE WHILE ALSO MAKING OUR FINANCIAL SYSTEM EASY TO USE.

THAT IS NOT AN EASY TASK.

BUT MS. ADAMS AND HER TEAM DESIGNED LASER FORMS THAT WE PUT IN LASERFICHE FOR ALL DIGITAL PAPERLESS OPERATIONS AND THAT HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL.

THEN THE SECOND AREA WAS TO BUILD CAPACITY WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY ABOUT LE ISD'S FINANCIAL STATUS AND THAT WAS EVIDENCED BY EVALUATING PROGRAMS FOR FISCAL SUSTAINABILITY AND SAVINGS OPPORTUNITIES.

CONSIDERABLE PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE ON THAT.

THE GOALS WERE ACTUALLY UPDATED BACK IN MAY.

THAT ACTUALLY MIGHT BE COMPLETED AT THIS POINT SINCE MS. ADAMS PRESENTED THE BUDGET THIS EVENING.

THEN MEETING SERIES ABOUT THE 22 BOND ELECTION, WHICH AS YOU ALL KNOW, WE DID THAT AND THE BOND DID PASS.

THANK YOU TO OUR COMMUNITY AND BOARD FOR SUPPORTING THAT FOR THE CHILDREN AND THEN MAINTAINING AND SUCCESSFULLY REPEATING AWARDS.

BECAUSE OUR BUSINESS OFFICE IS SO STELLAR, YOU SEE THE AWARDS THEY HAVE EARNED IN THE PAST AND WERE REPEATED THIS YEAR.

SO THAT'S PRETTY AWESOME.

THEN IMPLEMENTING BUDGET ALIGNMENT BETWEEN THE BUSINESS OFFICE HR, AND OUR PIMS SYSTEM.

I'M NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED TO SPACING ON THIS, BUT IN PARTICULAR, IMPLEMENTING A POSITION MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM TO BETTER TRACK WHERE ALL THE PERSONNEL ARE AND POSITIONS THAT WE HAVE JUST THAT HELPS WITH EQUITY AS WELL.

TO DO THAT, MS. ADAMS CONDUCTS LOW BOOTH 360 MEETINGS AND THOSE MEETINGS ARE WHERE WE SIT IN A ROOM AND PRINCIPALS COME IN, DIRECTORS COME IN AND EVERY SINGLE HUMAN IS REVIEWED IN EACH DEPARTMENT AND AT EACH CAMPUS.

WE DESIGNATE WHAT FUNDING THEY COME FROM.

IS IT ELSEWHERE, IS IT LOCAL, IS IT FEDERAL? WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE BEING PAID AND WHAT ARE THE STIPENDS? WHO GETS A STIPEND, WHO DOESN'T, AND WHAT ARE THOSE JOB FUNCTIONS? SO IT'S VERY THOROUGH.

[LAUGHTER] THEN COMPLETING YOUR TWO OF COMPENSATION ANALYSIS EQUITABILITY ALIGNMENT PROJECT AND THAT HAS BEEN COMPLETED.

THE SHEETS TO SHARE WITH THE INDIVIDUALS WHO HAD THE FINAL EQUITY ADJUSTMENTS OR GIVEN OUT TO DIRECTORS AND ADMINISTRATORS TO SHARE THAT INFORMATION WITH THE INDIVIDUALS THAT THAT AFFECTED THIS YEAR.

WITH THAT, THAT IS AN UPDATE ON THE FOUR AREAS OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN.

JUST AS A QUICK REMINDER, THESE ARE THE FOUR GOALS AND THE TARGETED FOCUS AREAS UNDER EACH.

ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT?

>> QUESTIONS FROM THE BOARD MEMBERS? [OVERLAPPING] APPRECIATE IT.

>> THANK YOU.

>> BEFORE GOING TO THE NEXT ITEM, I DO WANT TO MAKE JUST ONE QUICK ANNOUNCEMENT.

EVIDENTLY THE DEVIOUS LITTLE COMPUTER GRAM LENS THERE WERE AFFECTING US EARLIER, HAVE NOW AFFECTED US FROM OUR ONLINE PRESENTATIONS.

THEY ARE NOT BEING SHOWN.

WE APOLOGIZE TO THE PUBLIC THAT WAS BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION.

[00:35:01]

I GUESS THE PRESENTATIONS, WE WILL TRY TO EITHER GET THEM POSTED OR IF YOU'D LIKE COPIES OF THEM, PLEASE JUST LET THE ADMINISTRATION KNOW.

WE'LL BE SURE TO GET YOU COPIES OF ANY OF THE PRESENTATIONS.

WITH THAT, WE WILL ASK FOR ANY CITIZEN INPUT.

WE'LL GO ON TO APPROVAL OF MINUTES.

[10. Approval of Minutes]

HOPEFULLY EVERYONE'S HAD A CHANCE TO REVIEW.

I NEED TO SEE IF WE'LL CONSIDER THE APPROVAL OF A SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES FROM MAY 1ST, 2023.

>> SO MOVE.

>> DO I HAVE A SECOND?

>> SECOND.

>>THE FUN PART IS THERE'S ONLY TWO OF US TAKING A VOTE ON THIS.

ALL THOSE IN FAVOR RAISE YOUR HAND. ALL THOSE OPPOSED.

WE'VE GOT TWO ABSTAINS.

WE'LL GO ON TO THE NEXT ONE WHICH IS CONSIDERED THE APPROVAL OF THE REGULAR BOARD MEETING MINUTES FROM MAY 15TH, 2023.

DO I HAVE A MOTION TO ACCEPT THESE?

>> SO MOVE.

>> DO I HAVE A SECOND?

>> SECOND.

>> DO I HAVE A SECOND?

>> SECOND.

>> ALL THOSE IN FAVOR RAISE YOUR HAND. THREE ON THAT ONE.

THE LAST ONE, CONSIDER APPROVAL OF SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES FROM MAY 31ST, 2023.

DO I HAVE A MOTION TO ACCEPT?

>> I SO MOVE.

>> [LAUGHTER] SECOND? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR RAISE YOUR HAND.

WE'LL GO ON INTO ACTION ITEMS.

[11. Action Items]

WE DO HAVE TO CONSIDER APPROVAL OF THE ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

AT THIS POINT IN TIME, TWO OF THE OFFICERS, CURRENTLY MYSELF AND MR. ENGLISH, ARE CURRENTLY IN THE SECOND YEAR OF OUR TWO-YEAR TERM FOR BOARD OPERATING PROCEDURES, BUT WE DO HAVE A VACANCY NOW THAT DR. THOMPSON WAS THE VICE PRESIDENT, SHE IS NO LONGER ON THE BOARD.

SO WE WILL ELECT AN OFFICER FOR VICE PRESIDENT TO FULFILL THE REMAINING PART OF HER TERM.

DO I HAVE ANY NOMINATIONS FROM THE FLOOR FOR THE VICE PRESIDENT?

MR. JESSE WISE, COME ON DOWN.

>> GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT OLSON, SUPERINTENDENT LAMB, BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

ONE OF THE PROCEDURAL STEPS WE HAVE TO TAKE AS PART OF FINALIZING THE BUDGET AND TAX ADOPTION PROCESS IS WE HAVE TO TELL THE STATE HOW WE'RE GOING TO EQUALIZE OUR WEALTH LEVELS.

FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT ARE NEW BOARD MEMBERS, WELCOME, BY THE WAY. PLEASED TO HAVE YOU.

WHEN CHE EARLIER WAS DISCUSSING THE RE-CAPTURE, THIS IS THE MECHANICS OF HOW WE ACTUALLY MAKE THE PAYMENTS AND COVER THAT.

BEFORE WE CAN FINISH THE PROCESS, WE HAVE TO DEMONSTRATE TO THE STATE HOW WE'RE GOING TO REDUCE OUR LOCAL WEALTH LEVELS BECAUSE WE ARE FLAGGED AS A DISTRICT THAT HAS EXCESS LOCAL REVENUE.

BECAUSE OF THAT, WE HAVE TO DEMONSTRATE TO THEM, AND THE WAY WE DO THAT IS THROUGH THE PURCHASE OF ATTENDANCE CREDITS.

BASICALLY, WE'RE BUYING FAKE ENROLLMENT UP TO GET TO A NICE EVEN NUMBER PER STUDENT THAT THE STATE IS LOOKING FOR.

WE CAN DO THIS THROUGH NETTING OUR REGULAR STATE FUNDING.

FOR EXAMPLE, AS YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT EARLIER, ABOUT $5 MILLION IN RECAPTURE IS WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT THIS YEAR.

INSTEAD OF SENDING US ALL OF THE STATE REVENUE, THEY WILL TAKE THAT OFF THE TOP AND THEN SEND US THE REMAINDER.

THEY JUST NETTED OUT THAT WE DON'T HAVE TO MAKE PAYMENTS BACK TO THE STATE.

WE'VE HAD TO JUST TAKE IT OFF THE TOP BEFORE THEY EVEN SEND IT TO US.

THIS AGREEMENT WOULD ALLOW SUPERINTENDENT LAMB TO SIGN THAT CONTRACT FOR THE DISTRICT.

THE ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS DELEGATING AUTHORITY TO THE SUPERINTENDENT TO APPROVE THE AGREEMENT FOR PURCHASE OF ATTENDANCE CREDITS, NETTING CHAPTER 48 FUNDING.

>> DO I NEED TO READ THE WHOLE STATEMENT?

>> PLEASE.

>> THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT. DO I HAVE A MOTION FOR THE 2023, 2024 SCHOOL YEAR? WE DELEGATE CONTRACTUAL AUTHORITY TO OBLIGATE THE SCHOOL DISTRICT UNDER THE TEXAS EDUCATION CODE 11.15 11C4.

[00:40:02]

TO THE SUPERINTENDENT SOLELY FOR THE PURPOSE OF OBLIGATING THE DISTRICT UNDER TEC 48.257 AND TEC CHAPTER 49, SUB CHAPTERS A AND D, AND THE RULES ADOPTED BY THE COMMISSIONER OF EDUCATION AS AUTHORIZED UNDER TEC 49.006.

THIS INCLUDED APPROVAL OF THE AGREEMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF ATTENDANCE CREDIT NET IN CHAPTER 48 FUNDING. DO I HAVE A SECOND.

>> SECOND.

>> SECOND. ANY QUESTIONS?

>> [INAUDIBLE]

>> YEAH, KEN AND JEFF. DO WE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR JESSE ON THIS PARTICULAR TOPIC? SEEING NONE, ALL THOSE IN FAVOR RAISE YOUR HAND.

ALL THOSE OPPOSED? MOTION PASSES. THANK YOU JESSE.

>> I APPRECIATE, SIR.

>> WE'LL NOW GO ON TO THE CONSIDER THE APPROVAL FOR THE BUDGET OF 2023, 2024. MS. ADAMS.

>> WELL, AS IF OUR BUDGET WORKSHOP AND OUR BUDGET HEARING WEREN'T ENOUGH TO TALK ABOUT IT, HERE I AM AGAIN.

TONIGHT THE AGENDA ITEM I'M PRESENTING TO YOU IS FOR THE ACTUAL ADOPTION OF THE '23, '24 OPERATING BUDGET.

THIS WILL BE HOW WE START OUR FISCAL YEAR.

IT WILL BE VERY NEAR HOW WE ALSO END OUR FISCAL YEAR, BUT FOR THOSE THAT ARE NEW TO THE BOARD ALSO DURING THE YEAR AS MORE INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE AFTER WE DO OUR LOBO 360S, WE MAY RECOMMEND AMENDMENTS TO THE BUDGET TO MOVE OUT OF ONE FUNCTION INTO THE OTHER, WHICH WE CALL NET-ZERO AMENDMENT SO IT DOESN'T CHANGE THE BOTTOM LINE.

OR OCCASIONALLY WE MIGHT HAVE AN ATOM LARGE ENOUGH THAT IT WOULD CHANGE THE BOTTOM LINE, SAY IF WE HAD AN INSURANCE CLAIM OR SOMETHING OF THAT NATURE.

BUT FOR THE MOST PART, THIS IS OUR MARCHING ORDERS AND OUR OPERATING.

WHAT THIS BUDGET DOES INCLUDE, AND I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THAT IS CLEAR.

THE BIGGEST HIGHLIGHT ITEMS OF THIS ARE MODIFICATIONS TO OUR COMPENSATION PLAN WHICH INCLUDED 3% ACROSS THE BOARD, INCREASE TO ALL OF OUR EXISTING EMPLOYEES THAT WERE THERE '22, '23.

WE'RE VERY PLEASED THAT THE BOARD HAS DIRECTED US TO DO THAT.

NOT ONLY HAS THE BOARD BEEN DEDICATED TO MAKING SURE THEY TAKE CARE OF OUR EMPLOYEES BY ADOPTING A HYBRID CALENDAR THAT'S VERY BENEFICIAL TO THEM, GIVES THEM MORE TIME, BUT ALSO, EVEN IN THE FINANCIAL STRAIN THAT ALL DISTRICTS ARE FEELING ACROSS THE STATE OF TEXAS ARE STILL DEDICATED TO DOING THIS FOR OUR EMPLOYEES, AND SO IT'S VERY APPRECIATED.

IT ALSO INCLUDES THE LAST YEAR OF EQUITY ADJUSTMENTS.

DR. TRAMADOL TALKED ABOUT THAT EARLIER AND I'VE DESCRIBED THOSE TO THE BOARD.

IT INCLUDES THE COMPENSATION PLAN THAT WILL BE ON YOUR AGENDA AT A LATER TIME, AND CONSENT ALSO INCLUDES STIPENDS THAT HAVE BEEN ANALYZED, ESPECIALLY FOR CRITICAL NEEDS.

THOSE ARE MEASURED AGAINST TASB, AVERAGES IN THE STATE AND THOSE AROUND US AND ADDRESS THOSE CRITICAL NEED AREAS, PAY RANGE ADJUSTMENTS AS NEEDED AS WELL.

I JUST WANTED TO ALSO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT EARLIER I TALKED ABOUT 80-83% OF OUR BUDGET IS HUMAN CAPITAL, AND SO THE PARTNERSHIP THAT OUR DEPARTMENT HAS WITH OUR HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT IS REALLY PHENOMENAL WITH ALL OF OUR CABINET MEMBERS.

WE ALL WORK TOGETHER.

BUT SPECIFICALLY, HR SITS DOWN WHEN IT'S BUDGET TIME AND WE GO THROUGH THESE THINGS AND THE DECISIONS ARE YOURS TO MAKE, BUT DIFFICULT RECOMMENDATIONS AT TIMES TO MAKE SURE THAT WE PROVIDE OUR STUDENTS WITH ALL THAT WE NEED.

I APPRECIATE THAT COLLABORATION WITH EVERYONE ON OUR CABINET AND REALLY, EVERY DIRECTOR AND PRINCIPLE AND THE DISTRICT AS WELL.

THE BUDGET IS SUCH A PIECE THAT TIES THE BOARD'S DIRECTIVE TO WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE CAMPUSES IS REALLY A BEAUTIFUL DOCUMENTS.

ANYWAY, THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK ON THIS THROUGHOUT THE SPRING.

I APPRECIATE JENNIFER BARRYCHUCK IS HERE TOO, AND SHE PROBABLY SUFFERED AS MUCH AS ANYONE DURING THE SPRING WHENEVER I WAS SPLIT AND UNAVAILABLE, BUT HELPED US PULL ALL THAT TOGETHER SO THAT WE CAN MAKE THIS RECOMMENDATION TO YOU TONIGHT.

THE ONE LAST THING I WANT TO SAY THAT IT'S SEMI BUDGET RELATED, THIS IS THE LAST TIME I'M GOING TO BE AT THE MICROPHONE TONIGHT AND I JUST FELT TO SAY EARLIER THAT I CANNOT EXTEND ENOUGH THANKS TO RICK MARTIN WHO TONIGHT IS HIS LAST BOARD MEETING AND HE DEALS WITH DOLLARS THAT AREN'T REPRESENTED HERE ON THE ONE THAT I'M PRESENTING TO YOU, BUT OUR MAJOR DOLLARS THAT HE IS PASSING THE BATON TO MICKEY AND RICK.

YOU'RE VERY APPRECIATED. WITH THAT, [APPLAUSE] [LAUGHTER] THEN I WILL MAKE THE RECOMMENDATION THAT YOU ADOPT THE '23, '24 BUDGETS THAT INCLUDE GENERAL FUND, DEBT SERVICE FUND, AND STUDENT NUTRITION.

>> DO I HAVE A MOTION?

>> GOT MOTION.

>> DO I HAVE A SECOND.?

>> SECOND.

>> ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR RAISE YOUR HAND.

ALL THOSE OPPOSED. MOTION PASSES.

THANK YOU MISS ADAMS. WE'LL GO ON TO CONSIDER APPROVAL, THE STRIKE FIRE LINE REPLACEMENT.

MR. MARTIN, YOUR LAST TIME IN FRONT OF US.

[00:45:03]

>> SWAN SONG. YES. [LAUGHTER]

>> IT'S SO POETIC THAT IT IS THIS PARTICULAR ONE TOO.

>> LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME MAKE THIS PRESENTATION TO YOU TONIGHT.

A BRIEF MINUTE OF HISTORY JUST TO HELP YOU RECALL AND THOSE OF YOU THAT WEREN'T HERE WHEN STRIKE OPENED BACK IN 2020, ONE OF THE CONDITIONS THAT WE HAD ON THE FINAL PUNCH LIST FOR THAT PROJECT WHICH WERE BOTH ON OUR CONSULTANTS FINAL PUNCH AS WELL AS THE CITY'S FINAL PUNCH WAS THE CONDITION OF SCOTTISH LAKE LANE AND THE CONDITION OF THE FIRE LANES AROUND THE BUILDING.

OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS OF DELAY FROM THE CONTRACTOR, WE FINALLY WERE ABLE TO NEGOTIATE AND GET THEM TO AGREE TO REPLACE GODI'S LAKE LANE.

THE CITY OF THE COLONY HELPED US QUITE A BIT, MAKING THAT HAPPEN.

OUR THANKS GO OUT TO THEM.

THAT IS ACTUALLY STARTING THIS WEEK.

THEY'RE GOING TO PUSH AS HARD AS THEY CAN TO GET IT DONE BEFORE THE START OF SCHOOL.

BUT WE HAVE CONTINGENCY PLANS IF IT DOESN'T.

THE OTHER PIECE THAT WE JUST COULD NOT PULL THEM CROSS THE LINE ON WAS THE FIRE LANE REPLACEMENT AROUND THE BUILDING, AND THAT'S SIGNIFICANT BECAUSE THE CITY CONTINUES TO HOLD OUR PERMANENT CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY FOR THE BUILDING UNTIL THAT GETS REPLACED.

WE'VE BEEN OPERATING ON TEMPORARY CEO SINCE WE OPENED.

IN WORKING WITH OUR ATTORNEYS, WE ARE PERFECTLY WITHIN OUR RIGHTS TO USE THE RETAINAGE THAT WE'VE BEEN HOLDING FOR THEM IN THE LAST TWO AND A HALF YEARS TO MAKE THOSE IMPROVEMENTS AND CORRECT THAT AND FREE UP OUR CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY.

THAT'S WHAT BASICALLY WHAT WE'RE ASKING YOU TO DO HERE.

THE AMOUNT NOW THAT WE HAVE IS FOR ONE OF OUR JOCKS, BIG SKY, THEY RECENTLY YOU REMEMBER THEY RECENTLY DID THE NEW ACCESS OUT TO LEBANON.

THAT WAS SUCCESSFUL, SO JUST SIGNED OFF, NO ISSUE.

WE'RE ASKING THEM TO DO THE FIRE LINES AROUND THE BUILDING AND THEN WE HAVE SOME ADDITIONAL MONEY IN THERE WITH GIA TEXTS, WHICH IS THE OLD DNS MATERIALS TESTING COMPANY FOR THE CONCRETE TESTING.

THE ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS THE APPROVAL OF THESE VENDORS AND COST IS PRESENTED AND AUTHORIZE THE SUPERINTENDENT OR HIS DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE THE REQUIRED PURCHASE DOCUMENTS.

>> DO I HAVE A MOTION FROM THE BOARD TO ACCEPT THIS?

>> SO MOVED.

>> DO I HAVE A SECOND?

>> SECOND.

>> JEFF? ANY QUESTIONS? QUESTION I HAVE THIS IS STILL COMING OUT THE BOND MONEY, CORRECT. THAT WE HELD OUT.

>> THIS IS COMING OUT OF THE RETAINAGE.

>> RETAINAGE OKAY. IS JUST COMING OUT OF THEIR CONTRACT.

>> OKAY.

>> BUT THE CONTRACT FROM THAT WE ARE PAYING THEM FROM THE BOND.

>> FROM THE BOND, CORRECT?

>> YES. THAT'S WHAT I WANTED TO MAKE SURE.

>> THERE ARE NO ADDITIONAL FUNDS COMING OUT OF THE DISTRICT.

>> RIGHT. IT'S JUST COMING OUT OF THE BOND MONEY SET ASIDE.

>> CORRECT.

>> FROM WHEN WE PAID THE VENDOR.

>> WE'VE BEEN HOLDING 1.2 MILLION FOR TWO AND A HALF YEARS.

>> ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FROM BOARD MEMBERS? WITH THAT, DO ALL THOSE IN FAVOR RAISE YOUR HAND? ALL THOSE OPPOSED. MOTION PASSES.

>> GREAT.

>> THANK YOU, MR. MARTIN.

>> THANK YOU.

>> THE LAST ONE IS CONSIDER THE APPROVAL OF THE MONUMENT SIGN REPLACEMENT DISTRICT WARD.

DID IN HIS FIRST PRESENTATION.

MR. MICKEY JAMES.

>> THANK YOU. THANK YOU BOARD FOR GIVING ME THIS OPPORTUNITY TO PRESENT TO YOU.

THE ITEM IS SOMETHING THAT IS PART OF THE EXTERIOR UPGRADES FOR 2022 BOND.

THE CONTRACTOR WE'RE USING IS A BENCHMARK SIGNS, AND THIS IS TO REPLACE THE EXISTING MONUMENT SIGNS, AND EACH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL.

THE ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS THE APPROVAL FOR THIS VENDOR AND COSTS AS PRESENTED, AND AUTHORIZE THE SUPERINTENDENT AND HIS DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE THE REQUIRED PURCHASE DOCUMENTS.

>> DO I HAVE A MOTION TO ACCEPT?

>> SO MOVED.

>> DO I HAVE A SECOND?

>> SECOND.

>> ANY QUESTIONS? THIS IS DISTRICT-WIDE.

ALL OF THEM ARE GOING TO LOOK THE SAME SIZE.

>> YES, SIR.

>> SAME SCREEN, EVERYTHING?

>> YES, SIR. THEY ALL IT'D BE THE SAME.

WE'LL BE REAL CONSISTENT WITH EVERYTHING.

>> PERFECT. I KNOW YOU HAD A QUESTION EARLIER, YOU GOOD WITH YOURS? OKAY. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? IF NOT, ALL THOSE IN FAVOR RAISE YOUR HAND. ALL OPPOSED.

MOTION PASSES. THANK YOU VERY MUCH, MR. JAMES.

NOW WE WILL GO TO THE CONSENT AGENDA.

[12. Consent Agenda (Part 1 of 2)]

I DO KNOW WE HAVE ONE ITEM THAT HAS BEEN REQUESTED TO BE PULLED.

WE'VE HAD A REQUEST TO CONSIDER, I'M SORRY, CONSIDER A REQUEST TO PULL CONSENT.

[00:50:01]

AGENDA ITEM 12A FOR DISCUSSION.

ARE THERE ANY OTHERS THAT MAY BE PULLED FROM THE CONSENT AGENDA? I SEE NONE, SO WE WILL JUST PULL 12A AND WE'LL GO AHEAD AND HAVE THAT ONE DONE FIRST.

[12.A. Consider approval of Compensation for the 2023-2024 School Year ]

WE'LL CONSIDER THE APPROVAL OF COMPENSATION FOR THE 2023, 2024 SCHOOL YEAR. MS. BROWN.

>> GOOD EVENING, BOARD.

EVERY YEAR WE BRING THE COMPENSATION PLAN AT THE SAME BOARD MEETING AS WE DO THE BUDGET.

IT'S BECAUSE THE COMPENSATION PLAN, AS YOU ALL KNOW, LARGELY INFORMS THE BUDGET BECAUSE IT'S SUCH A LARGE CHUNK OF THE BUDGET FOR PERSONNEL.

AS SHAY MENTIONED EARLIER TODAY, IF A COUPLE OF TIMES WE DO MARKET ANALYSIS OF THE STIPENDS, AND THAT'S A BIG PIECE OF OUR COMPENSATION PLAN.

WE COMPARE, WE USE TASK B DATA, WHICH PULLS FROM DISTRICTS ACROSS THE STATE AND WE COMPARE OUR ATHLETIC STIPENDS, OUR CRITICAL NEEDS STIPENDS AND MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE HITTING AT LEAST THE AVERAGE, AND THEN IN SOME CASES WE'RE GOING ABOVE THE AVERAGE FOR THE STIPENDS.

THERE ARE SEVERAL STIPENDS THAT WERE ADJUSTED UP IN THIS PROPOSED COMPENSATION PLAN.

WHEN WE DID THAT, COMPLETED OUR MARKET ANALYSIS.

ADDITIONALLY, AS SHAY MENTIONED, WE DID A 3% INCREASE.

WE'RE PROPOSING THAT FOR ALL OF OUR CURRENT STAFF LIKE A RAISE.

THEN ALSO, IN THE COURSE OF OUR COMPENSATION PLAN WORK, WE DID SOME ADJUSTMENT TO A FEW OF THE PAY RANGES FOR A FEW OF THE CATEGORIES OF EMPLOYEES AND OUR PAY SCALES.

OF COURSE, THE $15 PER HOUR MINIMUM WAGE, THAT'S A BIG DEAL THAT YOU ALL ALREADY APPROVED THAT THAT IS ALSO INCLUDED IN OUR PROPOSED COMPENSATION PLAN FOR 23, 24.

WE JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR EMPLOYEES KNOW THAT WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING AT THE MARKET, MAKING SURE THAT WE CAN ADJUST AN INCREASE IN ANY WAYS THAT WE CAN WITHIN THE CONSTRAINTS OF THE BUDGET OF COURSE, IT SHOULDN'T LET THEM KNOW THAT THEY'RE SUPER VALUABLE TO US AND THAT WE APPRECIATE THEM CONTINUING TO WORK IN LITTLE ELM ISD.

ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE COMPENSATION PLAN?

>> ONE SECOND.

>> OR A MOTION?

>> I HAVE TO HAVE A MOTION. I HAVE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE COMPENSATION FOR THE 2023, 2024 SCHOOL YEAR.

>> SO MOVED.

>. DO I HAVE A SECOND?

>> SECOND.

>> NOW, DO WE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS?

>> I HAD THIS PULLED OUT A CONSENT JUST BECAUSE I WANTED TO SHOW THE DISTRICT THAT, HEY, WE GOT A 3% RAISE AND THIS IS HOW WE WERE ABLE TO DO IT.

THAT WAS MY REASON FOR PULLING IT FROM HIM SENT TO GHANA.

HEY, LOOK, WE'RE CARING FOR OUR PEOPLE.

WE DO. I'M GLAD YOU GAVE US THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO THAT.

WE DO IT IS A CONSTANT ANALYSIS AND RESEARCH IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BUSINESS DEPARTMENT.

WE'RE REALLY GRATEFUL FOR OUR STAFF MEMBERS AND THIS IS JUST A SMART WAY FOR US TO TRY TO SHOW THAT.

>> YES, AWESOME JOB, OF COURSE, BY HR AND FINANCE FOR MAKING THIS HAPPEN.

THANK YOU-ALL BOTH DEPARTMENTS AND THE REST OF THE CABINET FOR MAKING THIS HAPPEN AND BREAKING THE RECOMMENDATION TO THE BOARD.

SO I DO HAVE A MOTION AND I DO HAVE A SECOND.

ARE THERE ANY OBSTACLES? SAY ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS?

>> YES. JUST A QUICK QUESTION FOR YOU.

IN THE NEW KID ON THE BLOCK, HOW DOES THE 3% COMPARED TO NEIGHBORING DISTRICTS OR THE BUSINESS OVERALL?

>> WE'RE SEEING A LOT OF THE DISTRICTS.

WE DO TWO COMPARISONS.

ONE IS DISTRICTS THAT ARE OUR NEIGHBORS GEOGRAPHICALLY AND WE ALSO DO A COMPANION WITH SIMILARLY SITUATED DISTRICTS IS WHAT WE CALL THEM.

SO DISTRICTS THAT HAVE SIMILAR ENROLLMENTS AND SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS IN THE DISTRICT.

AND SO WE DO SEE A FEW DISTRICTS THAT ARE KIND OF OUTLIERS.

DOING FIVE OR 6% RAISES.

THOSE ARE ANOMALIES, THE GENERAL DATA THAT WE'VE PULLED IN OUR AREA AND ALONG WITH OUR SIMILARLY SITUATED DISTRICTS IS AROUND TWO TO 3% RAISES.

WE'RE RIGHT IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE DISTRICTS IN OUR AREA.

>> THANK YOU.

>> TO THE MOST IMPORTANT PART WE'RE ON A COMPETITIVE PAY SCALE WITH ALL THE DISTRICTS AROUND US.

I KNOW SOME PEOPLE MIGHT SAY IT'S ONLY A 3% RAISE, BUT WE'RE, WE'RE ON PER WITH THE DISTRICTS, WITH THE REST OF THE DISTRICTS IN THE AREA YOU ARE PAYING AND WE'RE ABLE TO GIVE THAT 3% RAISE, YOU STAY ON TRACK.

>> I AGREE WITH THAT AND MAKING SURE WE HIGHLIGHT THAT AND UNDERSCORE IT.

AND ADDITIONALLY, WE WERE ABLE TO DO AND A LOT OF DISTRICTS WERE ABLE TO DO SOME INCREASES DESPITE NOT HAVING, LEGISLATIVE SUPPORT AND HELP LIKE WE WERE ANTICIPATING.

>> THANK YOU. I HAVE A MOTION AND A SECOND.

ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR RAISE YOUR HAND.

ALL THOSE OPPOSED MOTION PASSES.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. APPRECIATE IT.

WE'LL GO ON TO THE REST OF THE CONSENT.

[12. Consent Agenda (Part 2 of 2)]

AGENDA ITEMS 12B THROUGH 12N DO I HAVE A MOTION TO CONSIDER THE CONSENT AGENDA AND APPROVE I HAVE A MOTION DO I HAVE A SECOND?

>> SECOND

>> ANY QUESTIONS? SEEING NONE.

ALL THOSE IN FAVOR. RAISE YOUR HAND.

ALL THOSE OPPOSED.

>> I OBTAIN.

>> THANK YOU.

>> SINCE I WAS THEREFOR AN EARLY DISCUSSIONS ON THAT.

>> MOTION PASSES. WE WILL GO INTO BOARD PRESIDENT COMMENTS.

[13. Board President Comments]

[00:55:01]

JUST ONCE AGAIN. MR. JAMES AND MR. WILCOX, WELCOME TO THE FAMILY.

LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH YOU.

LOOK FORWARD TO SOME GREAT THINGS COMING FROM BOTH OF YOUR ORGANIZATIONS IN YOUR DEPARTMENTS WITHIN HERE.

MS. ROBERTS, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW POSITION.

MR. MARTIN. IT SEEMS LIKE IT'S BEEN JUST THE OTHER DAY WE WERE STARTING ALL THESE GOOD FUN BOND PROJECTS.

BUT THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK, YOUR DEDICATION TO THE DISTRICT.

REALLY APPRECIATE IT. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

THANK YOU TO CABINET STAFF, EVERYBODY FOR COMING OUT TONIGHT.

I KNOW IT'S SUMMERTIME AND EVERYBODY'S IN THE MOOD FOR VACATIONS AND FUN TIME.

BUT YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN PUTTING IN A LOT OF WORK.

WE DO REALLY TRULY APPRECIATE IT.

SO THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH.

[14. Board Comments]

OTHER THAN THAT, I WILL TURN IT OVER TO BOARD COMMENTS AND I WILL START ON MY LEFT WITH MS WATKINS.

>> AGAIN. WELCOME TO THE FAMILY, MR. WILCOX, MR. MARKS, MR. JAMES ALSO CONGRATULATIONS MRS. ROBERTS.

ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND TASK B'S SLI CONFERENCE, AND I HAD A GREAT CHANCE LOOKING AND COMMUNICATING WITH OTHER DISTRICTS AND TAKING SOME COURSES ON THINGS THAT ARE TROUBLING SCHOOL DISTRICTS ACROSS THE STATE.

ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS THAT I ACTUALLY ATTENDED A SESSION ON WAS WAYS THAT DISTRICTS CAN PROVIDE THEIR EMPLOYEES BETTER BENEFITS, AS WELL AS WELLNESS PROGRAMS. AS NUMBER ONE, A WAY TO TAKE CARE OF OUR PEOPLE MENTALLY AND HEALTH-WISE AND PHYSICALLY, BUT ALSO TO DO THINGS THAT HELP MAKE US HEALTHIER AS A DISTRICT.

I LOOK FORWARD TO SHARING WHAT I LEARNED WITH OUR CABINET AND MY FELLOW BOARD MEMBERS.

ONE OF THE OTHER THINGS I REALLY HONED IN ON WAS LEARNING ABOUT CHAT GPT, THE WAYS IT'S AFFECTING OUR STUDENTS AND WAYS THAT DISTRICTS CAN NOT FALL BEHIND AS AI BECOMES A BIGGER PART OF OUR COMMUNITY, A BIGGER PART OF OUR STUDENTS LIVES, OUR LIVES.

BUT WAYS THAT WE CAN IMPLEMENT IT, BUT ALSO WAYS THAT WE CAN CUT OUT SOME OF THE BAD THINGS THAT CAN HAPPEN WITH CHAT GPT.

I TRULY ENJOY THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN AND GAIN MORE KNOWLEDGE AS A TRUSTEE.

I'D ALSO LIKE TO CONGRATULATE AND WELCOME MR. BURTON TO THE BOARD AND THANK DR. THOMPSON FOR HER SERVICE ON THE BOARD.

>> THANK YOU. WE'LL LET MR. BURTON GO LAST, WE'LL GO TO KIM.

>> THANK YOU FOR EVERYONE COMING OUT.

I KNOW IT'S SUMMER TIME AND IT'S HOLIDAY SCHEDULES AND THINGS ALONG THOSE LINES.

I'D LIKE TO WELCOME ALL THE NEW FACES AND SOME NOT NEW FACES IN DIFFERENT ROLES.

I APPRECIATE YOUR SERVICE TO THE FAMILY OF LIVE ALONE.

RICK. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YEARS AND YEARS OF SERVICE.

THE GOOD PART, ALL THOSE BUILDINGS WILL BE HERE FOR MANY YEARS BEYOND AS WELL.

APPRECIATE THAT. I LOOK FORWARD TO WORK WITH JEFF BURDEN FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS.

I LOOK FORWARD FOR MYSELF BEING HERE FOR THREE MORE YEARS.

THE GREAT THINGS THAT WE'RE GOING TO DO, IT WAS A BUSY FIRST YEAR FOR MYSELF BEING ON THE BOARD.

NOT MANY FOLKS GET TO HIRE A NEW SUPERINTENDENT IN THAT PERIOD OF TIME.

SO IT WAS GREAT TO DO THAT AND AS WELL AS PASS A BOND AS WELL.

LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH THIS GROUP AND WILL MISS DR. THOMPSON AND ALL HER WORK SHE'S DONE. THANK YOU.

>> MR. BURTON, YOU GET THE LAST ONE FOR BOARD COMMENTS AS THE NEWBIE.

>> HOW MANY MINUTES DO I HAVE? [LAUGHTER]

>>I GENERALLY LIMIT 3 OR LESS PUBLIC COMMENTS?

>> WELL, FIRST, I'M HUMBLED TO BE ABLE TO SERVE IN THIS POSITION.

WE'VE ONLY BEEN IN LITTLE ELMO ABOUT FOUR YEARS, SPENT 35 YEARS IN DUNCAN BILL, I'VE HELPED ELECT A LOT OF PEOPLE TO THE SCHOOL BOARD DOWN THERE.

I'VE NEVER SERVED IN THAT POSITION.

IF YOU HEARD ANYTHING WHILE I WAS CAMPAIGNING.

I THINK SOME FORM OF SCHOOL CHOICE IS GOING TO COME FORWARD.

I WANT LITTLE ELM ISD TO BE ONE THAT PEOPLE CHOOSE TO COME HERE, NOT JUST BECAUSE THEY LIVE IN OUR DISTRICT.

I THINK THAT NEEDS TO BE ONE OF OUR GOALS AS A BOARD TO DIRECT OUR NEW SUPERINTENDENTS, GIVE US A BIG SHOT IN THE ARM FOR THE DISTRICT TO BE READY FOR THAT BECAUSE SOMETHING THERE'S GOING TO COME.

IF YOU'VE WATCHED MY CAMPAIGN, I HAD NOTHING DEROGATORY TO SAY ABOUT DR. THOMPSON.

SHE HAS GREAT PROGRAMS, BUT I WANTED TO SERVE AND SO I HAD TO CHOOSE SOMEONE THAT WAS THE ONE THAT I COULD CHOOSE.

THERE WAS NOTHING DEROGATIVE THAT I BROUGHT FORTH.

YOU NEVER SAW ANYTHING NEGATIVE COME OUT OF MY MOUTH FOR OUR CAMPAIGN.

I PLAN TO SERVE WITH THESE FOLKS AND ALL OF YOU AND THE DISTRICT.

I DON'T HAVE CHILDREN, BUT I HAVE TWO GRANDDAUGHTERS.

THERE WILL BE IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT HERE.

AND SO THAT MOTIVATED ME AS WELL TO MAKE SURE THAT WE CAN WORK TOGETHER AND GET OUR SCHOOL DATE RATED HIGHER THAN IT IS NOW.

THAT WE'RE ACCOMPANY OUR PRODUCT IS EDUCATED CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS.

[01:00:01]

THAT'S WHAT WE NEED TO DO IS DO THE BEST WE CAN TO GET THOSE EDUCATED AS FULLY AS POSSIBLE.

I THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

I DO. LOOK FORWARD TO IT.

>> THANK YOU, MR. BURTON. APPRECIATE IT.

WITH THAT SUPERINTENDED COMMENTS, MR. LAM.

[15. Superintendent Comments]

>> LOTS OF GREAT THINGS GOING ON. WELCOME TO EVERYBODY.

I GET THE TIME TO SPEND WITH THESE GUYS ON A REAL REGULAR BASIS EXCEPT FOR MICKEY, BUT STARTING TOMORROW, THAT'S GOING TO CHANGE.

PHARMACY BRINGS ME TO SO THAT'D BE GOOD.

BUT REALLY EXCITED ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT'S HAPPENED HERE TONIGHT.

THANK YOU ALL. THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THIS OPPORTUNITY.

AND IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A LOBO BABY.

>> THANK YOU, MR LAM. I APPRECIATE IT.

WITH THAT, DO WE HAVE A MOTION TO ADJOURN? DO I HAVE A SECOND?

>> I'LL SECOND.

DO I WANT TO STALL. NO, JUST PLAIN ALL THOSE IN FAVOR RAISE YOUR HAND? ALL THOSE OPPOSED? MOTION PASSES AT 08:19.

WE WILL OFFICIALLY CLOSE THE MEETING
